Pfft

I've updated the post you quoted with a bit more detail on what I like about it, incidentally.

Wait, I'm googling half the Alfa models you quoted. It doesn't help they're named with freaking numbers.

Also, I agree with you on the wheels.

EDIT: Done googling, some I had seen but didn't remember the freaking number they were named with, and some I had never. I had never seen an Arna. It's a freaking Escort, wtf. But it's also not particularly ugly, it's just bland as you said, as are most all of the others bar de 159, but bland doesn't equal ugly like spitting in church such as this new atrocity.

I just had a thought.

So the last time (I believe) Alfa did a RWD sedan/saloon, it spawned il mostro.

I'm not sure anyone would categorically label this a beautiful car, but as a 1300kg chunk of pure Italian design, I'm not sure it has many rivals. You can tell that every single square inch of it was agonized over to achieve the result. After spending the last 8 years of my life in design, I'm convinced that Italians just do it best. Who else would love to see a Giulia-based rendition of Il Mostro?

Well, I am in fact absolutely astonished that everyone seems to love this spit in the ground. I was absolutely expecting polarizing discussion about it but everyone's raving about it. Wtf, GTPlanet?

I think we have achieved polarizing discussion. You and Omnis at least really don't like the exterior. While there's another group that thinks it's gorgeous. It's almost a love-it-hate-it design.

On another note-- Their USA site seems like it was just recently overhauled. Besides having a better 4C Configurator it had info (mostly already known) on the Giulia. I copied this quote from the website:

The Giulia Quadrifoglio’s use of ultralight, high-strength materials, class-exclusive technologies and supercar power and handling convert into priceless driving dynamics.
With the best weight-to-power ratio in its category of less than 7-lbs per horsepower(1), Giulia Quadrifoglio establishes a new performance benchmark in the world of performance sedans: 0-60 mph in only 3.8-seconds. (2)
This is Alfa Romeo spirit in its purest form.

So it will weigh no more than 3570lbs. Hopefully closer to 3400lbs.

When they say "less than 7-lbs per horsepower" they mean 6.999999999999999.

Marketing talk.

So there you have it. It's basically going to be 3500 lbs. Not terrible, I suppose on par with competition. 3300 or even 3400 would be pretty nice though.

That is quite a looker, easily more interesting to look at then most sedans today.

Count me in as one of those who really like how it looks, at least now. Thought it was merely nice at first but it's really grown on me the more that I looked at it. I agree with others that this has the basic 3-Series shape, but with the Passat/Audi rear end and other Jag and Infiniti details. Still nice though, especially in red. Interior also looks nice, at least from the picture, though I'm a bit leery of the build quality and would like to see who it actually looks and feels up close.

I'm also really interested in how big this will end up being. With the size of cars getting bigger and bigger, the new small cars are the old mid-size cars.

I wonder how Maserati feels about this model, seeing as how it's got 100 more horsepower than their own turbo V6, and is very nearly matching the bigger turbo V8 from the Q'porte.

If this really is a 3 Series fighter, then I would say that they are targeting different markets that do have some overlap, but is different enough. The Ghibli is the 5 Series fighter and the Quattroporte is the 7 Series fighter. I would be surprised if Alfa moved further upmarket and made something like a Ghibli competitor.

State-of-the-art, innovative engines: a six-cylinder 510 HP, inspired by Ferrari technologies, the brand's new powertrain reference, will be introduced on the Quadrifoglio version.

Are maintenance costs inspired by Ferrari as well?

I know that branding are suppose to keep with the times, but I prefer the last Alfa logo over the new one.

You are telling me it's a photoshop, and I said 'duh' because I thought it was pretty obvious that it was.

So I'm "ummm duh" for posting facts that not everyone knew about a image you posted wow 👍.

I presume that as you posted the image you thought it was real as there was no explanation from yourself to say it was fake. So you thought it was real until pointed out that they are not making them ?.

I think most Alfas are like that to a degree. At least, there are some on this forum who make it a point to declare each and every one ugly when it appears in a cool wall thread.

That could just be people being arses because they don't like Alfa's popular perception as a cool brand, but on face value it seems Alfa's tendency towards curvy shapes, the heart grille etc don't appeal to everyone.

I can certainly understand people not liking this new Giulia. But I'll freely admit that I'd be sceptical of someone's eye for aesthetics if they thought a 156 or 159, or the old 105-series Giulia coupes weren't attractive cars.

Nice little article here about some of the smaller details which may have been looked over, like the carbon fiber brakes and ignition button on the steering wheel. I really like this car.

According to the aritcle, the QV weighs 1525 kg or 3,362 lb. Did I mention I really like this car?

When Alfa announced a return to the US, I was thrilled. When Alfa announced a Miata/Elise rival roadster coming, I was thrilled. When I first saw the front end of the Alfa 4C I thought, "Meh, I could live with bug-eyed headlights because I can't see them from the driver seat." Then I heard about the added weight needed to meet US regulations, then I heard the price tag and I lost interest. When Alfa dropped this Giulia QV, I realized why people take out 2nd mortgages on their homes.

This will be my next car when it hits the shores. Call me biased, being 100% Italian, but I really like this car.

I like this interpretation of the square-jawwed style. The rear end looks awesome. Similar to a Maserati. I see Touring Car all over this one. I see it as the Milano's second coming.

No, I knew it was fake from the start. Maybe if I had posted the source at the same time you'd know that. And I'm pretty sure everyone else knew it was fake too. I don't see the problem here.

I'm sure not everyone thought it was a fake and the problem was your reply to me stating the fact that is was a fake image , but as you don't see a problem 👍.

You know there will always be that debate about Alfas, even the Alfa fans turn there nose up to certain Alfas as there not a true Alfa .

I'm waiting to see what differences there will be between the clover leaf and the standard model, the 156 and 159 looked great in any spec, but the last RWD Alfa 75 looked really bad in the bottom spec but great with a few thrills.
Also looking forward to the release of the other models due then I will have a hard choice in what to buy.

But the Giulia (and others) need's to sell and drive well so that Alfa can gain the sales they need to survive and then produce a new concept of design again to completely separate the looks of there cars.

A nice comparison of images of the class that it will be competing in below and they all seem to have a similarity with each other as has been the case for many a year with cars.

CLA 45 AMG? I would have thought it would have been up against a C63 :D

Also, the XFR-S and S6(?) are a class size bigger. More appropriate rivals there would be the RS4 Avant/RS5 and the rumoured XE-R.

Definitely closest in proportion to the BMW, and in the side surfacing, but realistically very different in the details.

And to my eyes, marginally more attractive - though the M3 does look good. Pity it's a bit pants to drive - hope the Alfa is better!
Hope you saw the A5 too
Nope - the new A5 is a while away yet.

Carbon fiber or Carbon ceramic?

Well i've heard that number (in kg) that's been translated to lbs. but like the 4C i've heard it may gain some weight on it's way over here. So, we'll see.

Ever since I saw this in GT4:
