GT5 is one of the biggest reasons for it though.

I bought almost accurately a year ago. Just for the GT5 + GTA + Mafia II combo . But I know few people that are waiting for the GT5 to release with their purchase.

It depends how much you play that game. I mean, say you play 1 game for the entire lifespan of your system and enjoy it. Surely thats gotta be better than purchasing quite a few games in the same period no?

^I am a bit of a scrooge when it comes to money, and others are more free with their cash than I am. Believe me when I say I even hold back buying cars in GT5P just to keep that extra virtual dough.

I bought PS3 and G25 for GT5P, obviously knowing that GT5 would be out eventually, so I pretty much did. Although there's also the small matter of MGS4 and GTA4 I suppose.

Either way, pre-ordered a PS3 GT5P bundle so have had it for however long that's been (March last year?)

Oh really? Why's that then? See, like a lot of people here, I bought my PS3 for the Gran Turismo franchise, but that does not mean that no other games get a look-in. Still, even if somebody did buy a PS3 and only GT5...so what? Less than £300 for a good Blu-ray player, media player/streamer, internet browser, and a racing game that blows any arcade machine from the past costing many thousands of pounds out of the water. Sounds like good value to me.

Maybe it's better to waste hundreds buying loads of games that you end up trading or selling?

actually i bought my ps3 when i saw a video about the PlayStation Premiere trailer of GT5 Prologue in summer 2007.

i bought the PS3 for three games GT5P, MGS4 and KZ2. voilà.

I said just for one game and nothing else. And I said that's my opinion, and not to attack anybody. I think people who buy a PS3 just for one game, and not buy any of the blu-ray movies or other games is not really a smart move considering what a PS3 can do.

"Considering what a PS3 can do"...ummm, you just said it yourself. The PS3 can do a whole lot more, as I stated in my post. I know people who bought a PS3 purely to play Blu-ray movies because it was the cheaper option at the time. Is that a waste too, despite people buying more expensive stand-alone Blu-ray players?

Getting a console for one game is not a waste of money. Buying 4 or 5 games a year and then having them sit there gathering dust (or sold for a loss) is a waste. Opinion does not really factor into it - just perspective. If that one game is all the person wants, and gets as much enjoyment out of it 3 years later as they did on day 1, how can you say that's a waste?

^Dude why are you arguing what I personally think? When it comes to monetary value to me, then yes it becomes a bit of a waste to me. In the fun factor and whatnot, that's up to the buyer not me, the same goes for whatever the buyer thinks about money value of buying a PS3. I'm not saying don't buy it for just one game.

At first I only wanted to get a PS3 just for GT5, but then I ended up buying it for MGS4 and many others. A lot of people will fall along that line I guess.
