Assetto Corsa PC Mods General DiscussionPC

[Fall Guy]

Not that I really care about this, but FYI hood and trunk immediately close very fast after opening.
What I do care about is that without reflections FX there's still no rear lights, blinkers, brake lights... only reverse light.
Just repeating this because there must be something 'wrong' since it's my only installed car with refraction lights where they don't work.
Could you please check ?

Reflactive lights are broken when dynamic shadows are enabled. Maybe check this in your CSP config?

Thanks, but I use the Dynamic shadows settings as you show them.
I do know what causes the (rear) refractive lights issue, namely the disabled REFLECTIONS FX, which I have disabled for several reasons.
But refractive lights are OK with all other cars that have them, it's only this otherwise gorgeous M1 Procar that gives me the issue.

In the meantime I was told that the light.ini is not configured for normal light without FX reflection @DaWallace.
Not that I know how to change that

And as i said before, the lights.ini is anyway overridden by the extension config. And i said before, if i get some time, i will look again at the rear lights refraction.🙄
Always doing drama?

No drama at all, just thinking it could be helpful ? My bad for answering @Fall Guy who tried to help.

Hillclimb Arona Tenerife - rain and grass and so on...

Track can be found here: https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/hillclimb-arona-v1-0.21607/

The vao comes per CM, so just some rough patches of grass and rain for those who want it.
Also flowing water for the small lake behind the starting point, too bad the river has no water, would look really cool...
Great track with lots of blind corners.

• You should be able to copy the files straight into you assetto corsa folder as long as you have the track installed. It will ask to override - backup your track if you want to keep the original files.

• If the new grass still won't show check your assetto corsa folder: extension/textures/grass_fx. You should have a "highlands.dds" file in there, otherwise no grassFX.

[Fanapryde]

nevermind.

Hi. These cams look stunning. Hope to see these released soon as well as other tracks. Well done.

Thanks Ken, glad to know you are liking the replay cams 👍... Will be reviewing and updating YT videos with sharemod-links. Unfortunately, it may take a bit more time than expected due to losing many completed works on my last 2TB SSD hard drive (cyclical-data-error) which Samsung is currently reviewing and hopefully fixing it (recovering all data, if possible, that is).

Hillclimb Moya Gran Canaria - rain and grass and so on...

Track can be found here: https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/hillclimb-moya.9007/

The vao comes per CM.
I tried to reduce the brightness of some objects per the extension config.
Other than that - great track but BEWARE: If you start your run in Hotlap mode, the car will spawn the wrong way 'round, so hit "back to pits" and then go up the hill. (If somebody knows a fix for this other than modding the Kn file...)

This is fantastic news, you guys do incredible work. Is anyone attempting to model the Chaparral 2F or even the Chaparral 2D? Such important cars! Thanks for your efforts!

The guys who released the Nardi mod on RD are working on the 2D as part of their LM66 pack - https://www.patreon.com/nugget_machina_workshop

Hello, I tried to use he URD EGT pack cars, but I discovered they have all an error in aero file, so the game crashes. I thoght was my files, so I download the mod again from URD website but I didn't solve. And seems to be in all car.
Please can someone make a fix or give a link for a fix? I'im interested mostly in Darche EAT because it's the only 911 RSR m.y. 2013 avaible (the model between 911 gt3 rsrs and 911 rsr gte).
Thank you very much

Hi guys, I'd like to corroborate this report of crashes using the URD EGT cars. The problem is it's sporadic: sometimes it happens immediately; sometimes it happens during a race; sometimes it doesn't happen at all.

As the previous poster mentions, the 'errors.txt' log spits out errors mostly related to aero.ini in addition to a couple for digital_instruments.ini. For example:

Could the above errors cause crashing in the manner I described? Or is it a red herring?

The values appear to influence aero drag and aero lift. In the example above, 'WING_0' is the body of the car and 'WING_3' is the diffuser.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Random question, looking at many "discussions" in various group recently about physics about how some are better at it than others. Not being a content creating guy I can just comment on what I try. Just commenting as someone who actually works in automotive field and just an enthusiasts. So many cars, street cars more so, have alignment setting defaults that doesn't make any sense, or without ability to adjust them to ranges that makes sense. So many cars I see came with rear toe-out in "stock" car. No factory will ever ship a car with rear static toe-out. Not unless they want to actively kill their customers. Pretty damn unlikely a car "optimized" for the ring will do that neither. Too high speed, instability is killer at the ring. I might tune my autoX cars to have rear toe-out for autoX, and I have, but I am doing that knowing my speed is gonna be below 70mph in pretty much all cases and I don't have to ever think about a 100mph braking into a corner in a FWD car. Do mod maker do that because they just want the car to feel lively? I feel like they just slap on loose setup(sometimes without adjustments to bring it back) and just stick on sticky tires and say look the laptime is good....

Oldschool FWD slow ******* might make sense sometimes with that setup, you can stay on power more of the time. But FR with powerful engine? Just seems crazy...

Most of them have no mechanic background of any sort.

No idea about those, I only installed and enabled it for some Nascar races where it was used for rolling starts and virtual safety car.

Here's what I could find based on some testing. Under Track Adjustments in CSP, if you have 'Allow seasonal adjustments' turned on while at the same time you have 'Use seasonal adjustments' turned off under WeatherFX, it will look like winter all the time.

[Marneus_boss]

I have a question for CSP expert there:

Concerning the RSS70 and it's multiple aero packages.
I tried plenty of things to force specific packages to each cars, like it was meant by RSS, to be used for AI.

In the ext_config.ini
I tried to change de wing_animation but it seems that we can only revert to the first or the last package.
I tried to disable the aero.ini to include a , for exemple aero_a4.ini, to force the angle for the 4th package.
But nothing work,

Do someone have an idea to make the ai use a speciaif aero package?
Because I'm little bit lost

I'm happy to say after the chemo treatments I'm cancer free :-)

Glad to hear it! I've been fighting cancer myself (Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma) and can now say that I'm also in the 'Cancer Free' stage (Total Metabolic Remission). Us sim-racers must be resilient or something. Feel free to reach out if you ever need to rant to someone that's also been through it.

Also, I've been away from here since August - Any 'must have' mods released between then and now?

[Whitestar]

... at the expense of a good bunch of fps, I fearfully suppose, isn't? (Sad emoji here).

From what I've heard, it shouldn't impact FPS much at all.
But it's still early days, we'll soon know, I assume.

Judging from the mail I received from Ilja's Patreon it looks like it will actually save performance, but I might be wrong.

"Whole thing with trees turned out trickier than I anticipated (generating a tree is one thing, but having to create LODs for it too requires some very different geometry which I’m still investigating). Instead, I went a different direction and added support for existing tree models.
With billboards for distant trees and heavy use of instancing to save draw calls and improve performance new system can handle hundreds of thousands of trees with no problem (and can also be used for bushes). Hopefully in the future I’ll be able to figure out procedural generation which will make replacing trees on existing tracks trivial, but at least now creators working on new tracks can use this system to save some time and performance."

The only point of possible misinterpretation here is whether creators will save performance versus the "old" way or versus the way he wanted to do it (still investigating).
