Johor Circuit v1.1

View attachment 1538562
The Johor Circuit was a race track located in Pasir Gudang Johor, Malaysia.
The construction of the circuit began in 1985 and was officially opened on 1986 by Sultan Iskandar. In 1998, it underwent another development. In 2015, Sultan Ibrahim Ismail announced that the circuit would be redeveloped. In 2016, the new design plan was presented with a cost of US$800 million. However, the redevelopment plans failed, and the circuit was closed in 2017 after the Asia Road Racing Championship races. (Wikipedia)

Conversion from GTR2.

Today was the first time I've signed on to my gaming PC since an update a few days ago. When I did Nord popped up an alert that 7-zip was considered to be a high threat app and I'm guessing it's recommending removing it. Anyone else seen this kind of warning about 7-zip?
7-zip has been "in conflict" with Microsoft for a while now. MS made some changes to the requirements for developer signing, and the 7-zip guys said "Sod off, we're not paying for that level of cert to appease you and your ****** Anti-virus". It went back and forth a bit, and MS responded by virtue-washing many of the exchanges from the Internet (I know they were there, I read them) and by shipping changes to said Anti-virus which resulted in a significant rise in false positives for 7-zip archives. Might be like that's catching on with other ****** security products.

This for the purpose of downloading MODS and things like PURE for AC, just so I'm on topic 😊

I'm just digging more and more into Linux to use it as my daily dev OS for Pure and other AC related things and it is just crazy how non existing issues like the false flagging of script files and certain archives are there. I heard some internals how many people MS fired and replaced them with AI. So sure they must limit more and more things to be able to run their security service. But actually i have no good feeling about this and how you can use your OS for simple tasks.
So at the end i now started preparing everything to get running on Linux and find the small issues to get everything running properly. Not an easy task, but i think it is time to have not just an alternative...

Agreed. Your work was my ticket to get that task done (again, many thanks), and I have since moved from Bazzite to Debian. AC with CM/CSP/Pure all running great. My setup is on the simple side, single 43", G920, but still. As you say, the sheer lack of drama is refreshing.

Totally OT: Which apps are you using for tyre info, leaderboard etc? They look nice, and I totally suck at finding stuff like that..

leaderboard looks like this one

Peter keep us informed about the VR progression in Linux?
The bad implementation of VR is THE thing that is keeping me away from Linux. But who knows the final answer will arrive in the form of the new Steam VR headset, that, it would be a shame if not, can handle LinuxVR.

Does that mean we Windows users should start to worry for our Pure future? 😢
No, its like a framework. The base is always CSP! If AC/CSP is running, Pure will run too.
No matter where i am developing it, it does not matter for you, because i will always test on Windows, Bazzite and CachyOS.

But it seems now is a good point to really go parallel. So i will constantly switch between Windows and Linux while i'm developing Pure.
So i have both Windows and Linux setup to work on the same projects and so Linux is equally used/handled.

But on Linux there are some little issues with CSP Lua development, which i need to solve. Like such simple things, that the file watcher is not telling CSP that a file in a sub-folder of a lua app/instance was updated. So you need to change a file in the root folder so CSP initiates a reset of the lua instance to get updated in-game.

But those little things are the key for fast development and those things we will need to find out and then it does not matter if you use Windows or Linux for development or gaming at all.
But IMO we reached a point where Windows is so annoying that a very serious amount of users/gamers make a switch and stay with Linux.
So this is not a thing where you say, now i must switch, but in a longer perspective, you could now start imagine, if Microsoft will not make a radical turnaround and bring an OS for the user again, Linux will be the better OS for most of the casual users.

And for such a step you need a serious time to get most of the people in the boat and help them to get there things running and me for myself have many to learn. If drivers are finally in a stage where Linux and Windows are equally fast and where VR is equally "easy" to use, it will be a nobrainer anyway.

Apparently the oil spill at Azure 2026 has been fixed... Can someone please point out that fix to me? Thanks!

Okay, thanks for mentioning it; I was already picturing myself trying to change my PC's operating system, me barely knowing how to pound on a keyboard... 😅
