So much better innit.

Jesus wept.
Objectively it is better yes, but this is a work of Art so ultimatley the top one is better, taking Van Goghs sunflowers and making them look 'better', is missing the point.
Games on the other hand are not Art in its trueist form, what DLSS 5 has done is jump forward several generations without a dev having to do a thing.... THAT is insane, how anyone can watch the YT vids and not be blown away is beyond me, i just dont get hopw you cant be impressed with what its doing here. By all means if you are a total stick in the mud fine, but dont just lie to yourself.

Gonna have to disagree. Games are an art form. Just because they're not a Van Gogh painting doesn't mean video games aren't art. They quite literally are.

Art includes:
  • Painting
  • Sculpture
  • Architecture
  • Dance
  • Literature, poetry & music
  • Film & cinema
  • Video games
And the list goes on.

The only difference is that not all art is good art, just like not all video games are good. You're just stretching the definition of "art" to justify your reasoning for no good reason. Saying that we're insane just because some YT videos aren't blowing us away with ChatGPT-generated image prompts is quite honestly dumb, and does nothing but ruin your entire attempt at making people accept this.

It's not impressive. It never will be. It's only impressive if you lack any creative liberties and couldn't recreate anything of the kind with your own two hands.

Sitting here calling video games not an art form, as if the decades of video games that have come out amount to nothing. What a joke to hop on the internet, of all places, and spew such nonsensical crap.

Monza 2025-ish (beta 0.99)

MediaFire link: monza_2025_beta

MEGA link: monza_2025_beta

Throwing this out there for anyone to try in the hopes to get a little feedback. I am concerned about flickering on the sponsor banners. I had to fix a lot of them and redo a lot of the uv mapping for the textures. I do not see any but i'm on an old CSP version and don't know if that would make a difference.

Don't let the name fool you. This is not a representation of the track in 2025. It's just a name I picked so I can separate this version from the Kunos version in my CM track list. It is nothing more than all of the mods i've created or downloaded for Monza rolled into one track so I can keep the original Kunos version 'clean'. It is a beta version (about 90% complete) so you can expect to see some obvious mistakes and maybe some poor texture choices. Because it's based on the original Kunos track, you are free to use any mods for that track with this one, such as ai files, track skins, etc. The one thing you can't do is use a mod that will overwrite the ext_config file. That would cause some issues.

Credits:
-- @Masscot for the animated flagmen and balloons
-- Assets used from the monza2022crf version of the track.
-- knicker for the crowd files.
-- @andrevr for the Temple of Speed banner image

While this track is not as confusing as some of my other ones, I still need to explain a few things:

-- There are two layouts, the base layout and a raceday layout that adds sponsor banners in some spots based on a 2025 GT World Challenge video I watched as a reference. The raceday layout is best to use with modern cars because the sponsors wouldn't make much sense for cars 10+ years old. Also, when using the raceday layout, I would suggest enabling the 2025 Raceday track skin to complete the look.
-- There are four 'Years' track skins that will bring back certain buildings and structures to make the track more period accurate. For example, enabling the 2010 (probably should have been named pre-2010) skin will make the track look like the Kunos default version with no structures hidden.
-- For performance reasons, I have the animated flagmen and live jumbotron displays off by default for older computer users. You can turn them on by enabling the appropriate track skin. Plus it's nice to turn them off when driving a practice session.
-- Last thing, there is a huge difference in how bright the crowds look depending on whether you use CSPs 'New spectators rendering method' so you might have to do some adjusting to the ambient and diffuse values in the camera_facing file. I have it setup for my CSP options, but yours may be different.

Have fun and hope to hear from someone on any issues you may see. If not, then i'll just keep plugging along thinking everything is all right.
People may already be aware of this, but I just found out about it. If you use this mod, you might consider getting this little addon for it. It fixes some of the things I didn't do or didn't know how to do. Unfortunately it does not widen out the first chicane.

Gonna have to disagree. Games are an art form. Just because they're not a Van Gogh painting doesn't mean video games aren't art. They quite literally are.
If you ask me, a video game is truly art only if the developers decide to lock in a specific artstyle and direction. Many simulation driving games aren't really art to me since they all aim at simulating real life in one way or another. Driving games such as auto modellista or ChoroQ on the PS2 for example on the other hand CAN be considered art since they aimed at anime/manga artstyle to differientate from other games.

I’m going to reorganize the car logo sections mess, so as a sample then all the Ferrari’s can be found in the Ferrari section only and not in the ACL, Grandprix1958 or whatever group the car modder is using.
Is there a good website that does have ready to use car logo’s from specific long forgotten cars, like Studebaker, Panhard, Packard etc.

I know if there is an car update (=very rare), then I have to correct this manually.
I found many logos here

I have this archive on my HD (I don't remember where it come from, perhaps on RD). Remove ".txt"

Look i won't delve into that debate too much regards true Art, but my point stands, taking Van Goghs sunflowers and making the sunflowers look like a photo is pointless, stupid, missing the whole point of Art etc.
But making a video game look better, more photo realistic, is amazing, relevant to the form (Art form if you like) and in the area of tech its fantastic to see.
I'm always confused at why so many have such a hatred for AI anyway, i try to understand but i just can't put myself there, then people point me towards 'AI Slop' and for me there is plenty of 'slop' way before AI got involved. Suddenly everything is great as long as a human did it all from start to finish, which is rubbish, loads and loads of utter garbage gets pumped out by humans who claim to have some skill every day.

Crazy thing is my life is actually Art, i paint and use whatever medium that fits what i am trying to convey in my works. I have trained an AI in my Art style as an experiment and it doesn't scrape other peoples work like some like to say, it litterally has learnt to creat Art like me and only based on me..... will it replace me physically painting, no, is it the kind of thing Warhol would of experimented with.... certainly.....

If you do decide to use this, replace his extension file with this one. It will fix a few shader value and winter time issues on a couple of his new materials.

Gee, I wonder why people dislike AI. It's almost like it's primarily used to steal work made by actual humans. Companies are buying graphics cards and RAM sticks on loans, making it harder for the working man to buy a GPU or RAM without mortgaging their damn house. AI bros are scraping the internet for "resources" and then making a mockery of the actual creators of the resources they just stole, on Twitter, Reddit, everywhere they can.

Constantly talking down to people who don't want to touch it because they feel it's immoral. The list goes on.

AI has uses, but it sure as hell isn't useful for anything other than doing spreadsheets, text translations, etc. Basic **** that humans shouldn't have to do.

But art? **** right the **** off with that. A computer has no feelings, no thoughts, no emotions. None of that ****. It's numbers and nothing else, an empty shell with nothing resembling us. It shouldn't be used for anything that we make ourselves.

AI bros are a plague, and they constantly prove it every time by talking down to people who don't want to bother with their crap. They're the same idiots who tried to make NFTs a thing just three years ago.

If you support it, go ahead. I'm not going to stop you. But to try and claim that AI slop is the same as the bad stuff a HUMAN being made before this? No.

But i'm not going to bother further with this :banghead:

Your DLSS showcase videos are horrid, and makes the game look like actual manure. Only an underdeveloped manchild could think that looks good.

Wow. It is clear to any normal persons eyes that it makes games look better, the fact you cant even admit that obvious fact means your in the grip of a cult like hatred of AI and DLSS 5.
I have no reason to waste my time sticking up for one of the richest companies in the world, i'm sure NVIDIA dont feel the need to defend themselves so i'm not about to for free on their behalf.

I'm cool with it, cool with AI, not worried about it taking my job, not worried about any of it. Certainly not losing sleep over DLSS 5...

One last fix for the Seeker Monza 2026 mod. Fixes his new grass border mesh to have the proper blend mode. Replace his ext_config file with this new one.

Also, I took his mod and made it 'fit' into my mod a little better. He included a lot of files and stuff that are really not needed to add an extra layout to the track. I cleaned everything up a bit to get rid of wasted files. Let me know if anyone is interested. I can see if he would let me release an update to the whole track that includes his stuff but with less clutter.

Not really. I use AI in my daily job to deal with spreadsheets that I want done quickly. But it's also running on my own laptop from 2010 instead of a data centre, so it has virtually zero impact on humanity. AI most certainly will never take my job. I'd love to see an AI literally do anything involving my job. But the fact that you bring up stealing jobs... It's rather concerning that you think it's fine for a computer to take the livelihood of another human being out of their hands.

I personally don't think it looks good period. It's really that simple.

I think the main issue is that 99% of this (aside from funky edge cases with stuff like translucency, that'd take more work) could genuinely be done with a good PP filter and, if necessary, improved (especially if PBR) textures with a comparatively infinitesimal performance cost.
the upscalers are fantastic (though I've found the snapdragon one to be better when used as AA, less ghosting and all that), but honestly the main use I could see for DLSS 5 would at best be as a quick A/B comparison tool to tune a PP filter, and that's strongly assuming it works well in AC with harsher lighting (midday or night time).

Well many things have taken peoples jobs, the printing press took the jobs of those skilled folks who used to write title deeds and the bible etc etc. It is just clear as day that it makes games look better though, its just a cold hard fact. You not liking it doesnt change the facts. It litterally improves the image in everyway. To admit that doesnt mean you agree with AI.

A preview (hot laps) of the simulated race (1975 24 Hours of Le Mans) featuring Michèle Mouton (Champions Career Mode).
Due to PC issues, I likely won't be able to run the full race until next week; for now, it's just practice with some of the participating cars and a few final adjustments.

De Cadenet T380

Lola T294 (in reality, the cars (28/29) are like this)

BMW 3.0 CSL

Ligier JS2

Porsche Carrera RSR

Ford Capri

Sigma MC75
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UQVZfW3SMo

Mirage GR8 ( ReWork )
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XrL8w4TAxs

For now, only the Alpine A441 and the Moynet LM75 (a conversion) are missing. Many of the other cars appear in some videos, but I won't be doing laps with them (March 75s, Tecma 755, Porsche 908.03—which is a conversion; perhaps another modder will make a much better one soon).

Hi, is that Capri available anywhere?

The last two cars tested:
The Alpine A441C (adapted)—featuring parts from the A442 (by Legion) and sections of the Mirage I adapted along with other assets—still requires adjustments; unfortunately, I am unable to tweak the rear section (or even the texture shading).

As for the Moynet, I had to adapt the liveries to a different car;
the original version—which would have been much closer to the real thing—was problematic, as I couldn't adjust the "DATA" folder settings or swap the model's wheels (as you can see in the screenshot).

I’ll only be able to run the simulation with the Moynet trio (continuing the "Champions Career Mode: Michèle Mouton") this weekend, when I (hopefully) get my PC back.

Yeah , after trying it on a 27" 1440p screen it does seem like a ppf filter on steroids.

There are still issues with DLSS5 , shadows under cars seem a bit funky
Some textures have errors ( on bonnet cam ) and it looks best with overcast/very cloudy skies.
Bright sun seems to lessen the impact .

But it does enhance the pit lane guys face and the NPC 's in the crowd and imho the track details seem enhanced, curbs/gravel traps and buildings seem to have better detail and ambient occlusion is greatly improved

I think it's a good starting point for the tech tho and shows promise

I'm using a rtx4090 and get 100-105 FPS with it engaged so still playable

Whether you like it or not it's an interesting addition to AC for us to play with

If you look what it can do in GTA5 and ETS2 for example, its tranformed them, GTA5 is like a new game and ETS2 its done what many hoped the devs could do. Tech is tech to me, i dont get bogged down with this anti AI cause and i'm glad i don't. The stuff i'm seeing on YT is just mind blowing to me.
I cant imagine what it must be like to be so intrenched in your ideology that you see it and pretend to yourself its crap and looks worse.

Hello, I'm having a problem with Imola Kunos. My trees are ugly and different colors.
This is normal in the original Kunos version, but even with mods like Rich Summer, 3D Trees, or the CF1 improvements, and even with Pyer's extensions, nothing helps; the trees are still not good-looking. There are too many different colors. Does anyone have a solution to fix this problem on this track?
I'm using Pure Gamma with the Natural Gamma mod filter.

Serious racing sims and flight sims are obvious examples of where photorealism is desired to help with immersion, so something that can take the developer's best efforts and automatically improve them might be a good thing... if it doesn't negatively affect performance and if it works equally well in all lighting and weather conditions. DLSS5 doesn't seem to be that solution right now, but who knows what the future holds? It certainly isn't a blanket response to all game types and graphical styles though, because it often blindly tramples all over the original developer's artistic vision.

You not liking it doesnt change the facts. It litterally improves the image in everyway.
I agree with most of what you say regarding AI and DLSS5 and everything.

But be careful with presenting an obvious opinion as a fact. What looks good, and what could be considered a visual improvement is highly personal and should never be presented as a cold hard fact.

I liked the post with the AI-enhanced image of The Great Wave. I happen to have an original Japanese print of this hanging on my wall, and I like it just the way it is.

If you want photo realism in games, DLSS5 is obviously a good step in that direction. If you appreciate the artistic approach and interpretation, then it's an obvious step in the wrong direction.

So which opinion is the best, correct one? There is no shame in wanting different things, guys. Someone likes the mother, others like the daughter. Someone even likes the dad. Good for us to have different opinions.

That's what I've been saying for two days, and I'm glad you agree.
I'm testing, and with my setup, it's barely playable in single player at 60 fps, but I'm only seeing a lot of useless chatter about the AI, even out of context. This isn't a forum about artificial intelligence.
