Bathurst in GT6!

The Bathurst 12 Hour is a rolling start, and from what we know so far, GT6 is much closer to simulating that (GT3) event rather than the V8 Supercars race, so I doubt there'll be no rolling starts.

Once GT gets rolling starts right that is.

There isn't a single modern technical circuit that can hold a candle to most of the high-speed legendary circuits of the past. That's why the very best tracks in the world today are very old circuits that retain most of their original classic layout ( Mt Panorama, Nordschleife, etc ). In the past motorsport was about speed and excitement, with a very serious danger level attached, and these days it's mainly about money and safety, with a serious watering down of the thrill that comes with speed in order to minimise risk. Sponsors don't like to throw big money at sports that occasionally kill their participants.

Mt Panorama is going to be great in GT6, can't wait! :) In the meantime anyone who would like to race a virtual version of the classic Mt Panorama and all the other old classics like Reims, the old Spa, the Monza 10km, and so on should check out Grand Prix Legends. An old but absolute classic of a racing game.

Interesting, I've never really looked into the formalities of rolling starts.
Could you elaborate on how GT misses the mark on rolling starts?

Thanks.

In reality once the first car passes the start/finish line then the race is on and every one can accelerate. In GT you can only accelerate once you have passed the start/finish line, which if you are in any other position than first puts you at a disadvantage, not to mention its simply wrong.

And nobody would hold such a big distance between himself and the car in front.

More accurately, once the green flag flies (which is as the first row is approaching start/finish, but usually still before they get there), the race is on and everyone can accelerate.

For what it's worth Forza and XBox have a significant advertising presence at the track this weekend. Nothing from PD, so I am doubtful that GT6 will include V8 Supercars or other Bathurst-associated content.

Just watched the Top Ten Shootout and it was filled with Forza 5/Xbox One advertising. Even the lap timer is headed with the Forza 5 logo.

Have you noticed that one of the Forza Motorsport 5 signs has been broken? The one after the first left hander after the start/finish straight.

Digitally broken me thinks. ;) Those signs were definitly added on screen.

The white and black forza signs above turn 2 aren't actually there in real life, they are grafficaly put there, and the Shannon's one above the cutting, just look underneath, no shadows, and there perfectly white and black, and very VERY annoying

Only the turn 2 ones where, not the ones after turn 1, and all turn 1 Xbox one stuff is proper, just a pickup, the bjr cars had Sony on their headlights o.O.

I was hoping someone at the Mountain this weekend would post whether there was a GT rig set up with the Bathurst track on it so we could get some more first hand impressions.

However, watching the blanket Forza branding throughout the coverage, I think Turn 10 have it all sown up. I wonder if there is an exclusive licensing deal with Forza having an advertising and a physical presence at the track.

I find it somewhat embarrassing that it was included in the broadcast. If they want on-track advertising they should have it physically on track.

Also the occasional message about Bathurst in Forza 5 appearing on the telecast.

Bathurst better have kangaroos in GT6.

It's like you guys are speaking a different language. The Roos don't get killed do they?

Edit: Just watched the video, Holy ****, that's one lucky animal.

For the record, they dont "Brake for animals". They use the steering wheel around these parts ;)

I have a feeling the E63 AMG road car will have aero parts to make it look close to a V8 Supercar.

Here is iRacing's Bathurst - it looks just as narrow, and the tracks are laser scanned for sure

GT6 has much better lighting engine and track atmosphere, and iRacing better engine sounds :)
And dare I say, more accurate looking gum trees :dopey:

Im sure it looks way better on a PC than what this video shows. No disrespect to iRacing customers but, looks like Bathurst in TOCA 2. Maybe that's because of the in car view.
