how much does your computer cost total? it must be worth 4 g's at least maybe 5

Dont know, I have built it myself and customised it over the years. My most recent overhaul cost about £1300 (new motherboard, graphics cards and processor) I have advantages in that I dont pay people to do it for me.

its not cool to brag about your uber computer.
Sorry I just cant resist it somtimes.

With that kind of computer I'd hope for 80+fps with top everything... Otherwise its a waste of money.

I'm sure I could get to 200 fps if I wanted to. I allways play while downloading things, running ad aware etc. I also have everything at the max.

I built my PC myself (hasn't changed much in the past 2 years apart from an Audigy 2, another half gig of RAM and another HDD) but even so buying 2 6800 ultras means your paying the overblown premium of a top graphics card, not once but twice! Arggh! :scared:

Are your pockets on fire or something?

I'm pretty disappointed with the performance of this demo. I've got a gig of ram and 6800GT overclocked to 6800u myself, and the game feels laggy and stuttering online. I've been trying to play at 1280x1024 with just all details at high, or with light at medium, and still I get a lot of stuttering and lagging online.

Oh and at the other guy. You think you're cool cause you can brag about your computer?

the game plays just fine and almost lag free for me online. My dad is running a server for people to download and upload fires at his job today....(he's a software engineer type) so i cant play any games online without extreme lag. Hopefully he wont be doing this tommorw.

It's a day to day part of the internet, get used to it ;)

Every server will surely be suffering from some degree of lag due to high load from all the gamers wanting to play.

And, surely running 1280x1024 with settings at high will naturally bring a stuttering, it's called trashing your computer. Rumour states that to properly run the game, you need 2Gb of RAM on top of a good GPU and CPU (3G+) . I would consider your settings to be 'properly running' the game and therefore in conc. you just need to turn everything down a bit. Try 1024x768 medium.

On a different note, does anyone have a link to where they D/Ld the demo from, i'm having a hard time finding one that doesn't a) cut out, b)not work, c)run at 10kbps etc etc. Ta.

i can run the game smoothly with most of the settings at high at 1024x768 (havent tried 1280x1024 yet) and my computer is a heck of a lot slower than MustangSVT's.

Its just for the 1st 30 seconds after i connect there is lots of stuttering but after about 30 -40 seconds it goes away.

Flame-returns
CPU= AMD Athlon 4000+ (san diego)
Ram= 2048mb
GC= dual 256mb 6800ultras in Sli configuration (512 mb total)

I dont know what you nbpeople are complaining about .

It workds perfectly in 1024x768 on my pc. 60fps+
Not all of us have the dosh like you.

Ever thought that it's because there are demo servers running the game for hundreds of thousands of people?

Actually it looks like it was that 1280x1024 fix that made the stutters for me. I stopped using it. I put hardware eax sound back on, and just used the resolutions from the game. Right now I'm running:

1280x960
4xAA
everything on max, lightning on medium

All runs very smooth so far on online servers. I've been having a lot of fun for the past 2 hours or so. Now that everything is really smooth and plays well online, the game really shines. I'll be buying it on first day. I knew something wasn't right when I was getting all that stutter. :dunce:

Problem is that I do have all of that, except only 1GB of ram, but come on, 1GB isn't considered "low".

wut are you talking about? The most people on one server at a time are 64. I mostly play on 32 people servers with pings of around 50. And where did the hundreds of thousands of people number come from? Last I remember in BF1942, the most players at once on every server for every mod and the game itself was like 15,000 and that was on like 3500 servers. :dopey:

It is indeed I,m glad us brits make up good slang words for things like quid aka pound.

My finger is still waiting to get fragging in BF2 demo.

omg... i was confuzed about quid and pounds. i thought they were different amounts of money. I figured they were close but i thought they were slightly different amounts. Topgear and Fifth gear confuze me. :dunce:

Anyways... i pwn with the helicopter. I'm not the best but i am damn damn good. :sly:

Bucks and Dollars, Quids and Pounds. All what I need to get a nice car, nice house and a PC that'll play this game.

Yeah battlefields at bit different to some games in that when it gets laggy (due to poor internet performance, either you or 'them') your frame rate often looks jerky (not just other moving players) :)

I thought mine was jerky online until I found it was my brother downloading :grumpy:

Viper_Maniac
I wish I could play this. The demo keeps crashing on startup. :(
Mine did at first but the next time I started it up it was fine.

Like I said he is not alone there are other people who cannot play the demo aka me aswell.

News: Demo has been hacked into twice.

Meaning the 12 minute rule was removed on most servers, and secondary weapons unlocked.

More news : EA has banned these servers from the masterlist, you can still log in to them, but you just gotta know where to look for them.

Removing the 12 minute limit isn't suprising, but unlocking the secondry weapons is a bit naughty! Still why did they leave them in if they are indeed there!? Its asking for it.

Because the reason the 2nd weapons that unlocked in the demo are meant for the full game.

Plus as soon as you move up rankings in full game you should get better skills with the weapons you unlock.

Arg you seem to have missed my original point. I was meaning it was daft that they left in the secondary weapons in the demo where they were not supposed to be accessible, hence they shouldn't have been included in the demo in the first place. And that thanks to this oversight people have 'hacked' the files allowing people to access the secondary weapons in which they should not have access to until they get the full game.

Its a general rule of thumb that you don't release a demo of a game with a large chunk of the full games content. Otherwise people will find a way to access content they shouldn't be able to access in the first place. :)

For an example many of the GT4 demos... If that content wasn't included in the first place, there would be no way of accessing it!

And the source code was left as PYTHON files. I'm no programmer and I managed to hack it for single player mode =)
