I WISH I NEVER ****ING INSTALLED THAT PATCH

First of all wtf is the point of 280mb large file!? ALL THATS DIFFERENT IS I GET 4X AS MUCH LAG AS I DID BEFORE. SEEMS THE ONLY THING THAT'S CHANGED IS SILHOUTTES OF SF GUNS THAT I CAN'T ACCESS AND PROBABLY MAPS THAT ARE ONLY FOR SF BUT NOT FOR PEOPLE THAT ONLY HAVE SF!

Do you close all the processes (except explorer and task manager) under your username in the Ctrl+Alt+Delete menu before playing? That really helps.

And did you ever think there might be more lag because everyone and their grandmother is playing the game or downloading the patch?

I had no problems installing the patch, always watch your HDD light to see if its working. When the patch is installing, ok SF is still not here grrrr.

Looks like it arrive by Saturday or next week folks.

You know you'll have to install the patch again after installing SF right? I decided to wait until i get SF before messing with patching the game.

I rather install the patch now, so if SF does not arrive on Saturday. Then i can play on default BF2 servers the meantime mate.

Well if you can indeed use the weapons on the regular servers I may buy it if the guns are any good. Otherwise I don't think I'll bother. I want combat with vehicles and infantry combat not a CS clone (Yes I'm aware it isn't entirely infantry combat). Expansions on games like this usually on serve as diluting the number of people playing and the quantity of decent servers for any one game/mod.

I'll keep any eye out for new guns on the ground as TVR&Ferrari_Fan mentioned :sly:

Yes I already knew that. I read the notices that they show me unlike some other people. (not talking about anyone here)

And for some reason I cannot access my Ctrl+Alt+Delete Task Manager. So I may have hidden things running in the background but I've never been able to access the Task Manager even when I had 1.03 so it's not hidden programs slowing my computer down.

Well if everyone else is playing with the 'useless' 1.12 patch and not you, maybe you should start thinking your end is having the problem, not the EA's end?

:)

I have yet to have the 1.12 patch, but I'm all for fixes.

When you do, I'd love to see the reasons why it was necessary. Honestly the only thing I truly can tell is different from the other patch is just silhouettes of SF's unlockables. That's about it. And yes I read the list EA gave but there were bigger changes in the 1.03 patch and it wasn't a 280MB patch.

If BF2 crashes and your stuck, but you can get into Task Manager. To close BF2, then it can mess up your controls so you have to remap it in other words.

Can you open other windows on the desktop. If you can click on start, next find run and type in taskmgr.

This will bring up the task manager.

Gives error: Another program is already using this file.

Anyways it's getting better still a bit laggy but I found this one 24/7 karkand server and it was SO SMOOTH I was almost compelled to see if it could handle medium graphics.

What so can you get in desktop at all, plus you should be able to get in task manager if you type that. I had no problems loading up task manager that way.

Dquan what happened, you were about to find me in the correct server. Then you disconnected from Xfire.

No it's probably a virus using my task manager.

Anyway I can deal with the lag for now. I just got the best feeling in the world today. We were on our last base so I went in the ocean (Wake 2007) and me my squad leader and another lone wolf were swimming and at about halfway thru the swim the last base was taken so they were on the search for us and all three of us got in defensive positions and took the flag! And we had 4 out of the 5 bases before our tickets ran out. :D :D :D :D

I can use Xfire to find your server? Thats cool. I'll try that next time.

Although i just installed AnyDVD on the advice of Flerbizky, and it has removed all my cd rom and dvd rom drivers. So I can't play at teh moment :(

Is that why you got disconnected. Also I hope SF arrives today, i hope.

Still not arrived, this is becoming a joke. I have always trusted play.com.

Now my girlfriend and I both own this game for the xbox. We have played every single FPS online game out and Battlefield 2:Modern Combat blows eveything away!!!! Played for almost the entire weekend together and we havent been this addicted to shooter combat game ever. :)
I personally love the Conquest mode and I usually take the engineer. :) 👍

Something is definately up with 1.12. A lot of people have been complaining of FPS loses, even in the Base game.

On my system, it takes twice as long to load a SF map than a base map. And even after joining the game, my machine caches for several minutes causing serious jerkiness. It's unplayable for 1-2 minutes.

Even after I wait for the caching to stop, I get a noticable drop in MINIMUM FPS in SF and Base games. MAX FPS is still very good, but worst case performance is unacceptable.

It's not hardware. I run an OC'd Athlon 64 3000+ with 1 GB DDR400 RAM and an ATI X800XL 256. My drivers are up to date and the rig ran BF2 pre-patch flawlessly.

I wonder if it's an issue of having too many textures in memory. That would explain the incessant caching and drop in FPS (moving textures from main to video memory)

I've already ordered another GB of RAM. I'll be damned if I have to get a 512 MB video card just to play this game. 👎

Otherwise, SF is pretty good. The SCAR-L makes the G36C feel like a peashooter. But they need to do something about performance.

My GF and I will be playing this again tonight in a few hours on the xbox. Actually we will probably be playing this all the time. It is just that dang good!!!!

I had virtual memory problems with vanilla BF2 at map loads and sometimes mid game (usually when firing a rocket) when I had 1GB of RAM but its as smooth as butter with 2 GB. Still with all the reports of poor fps I don't think I'll buy it for now. You would have thought they'd atleast not repeat the same mistakes again with the expansion. :grumpy:

I have 2 questions for everyone that plays this for PC or xbox.
1. What is your favorite soldier? Engineer, support, sniper......
2. What is your favorite level? Backstab, LittlebigEye,bridge too far....

1.My favorite soldier is the Engineer. My girlfriend always uses the first guy on the list. I forgot his name.
2. So far LittleBigEye is one of my favorite levels.

Usually what happens is it starts out nice, and then it gets slow on the second round or the next map. Once it got so bad that the screen turned black for 1 second on several occassions, so I disconnected. On normal BF2, it was bad the first time, I tried after patching it, but that might've been the server. Yesterday, I was able to get a pretty good game in on bfsupreme until I got disconnected.

This basically is what I'm complaing about as well but I was on rant mode.

BTW, anyone know the command to show FPS?

Does anyone else has problems with the BF Recorder, i have problems. When it goes to the community tab. What i mean is the recorded file, goes to the community tab.

Then i click on download file, it says cannot download. I have a demo's file made, in BF2 file. And also i have put the demo file to allow downloading in BF2.

Fired up BF2 today. Max settings 1280x960 @ 75htz with 4xAA

Runs with no lag, approx 30 - 60fps.

Very sweet and the detail is mind boggiling compared to the old system. Can see twice as far also.

Very nice 👍
