Running BF2 at 40 - 80fps. Occasional drop to 30's
 
Nice setup, and nice shots 👍 15 days till i get my new, similarly specced computer (can't fricking wait!). How does FEAR run on that?
 
I decided to make my perfect computer on Overclockers. It came to over £3800!!! Without the monitor.
 
Talking of ownage, i just had the best round ever. Wake Island was the map, and the battle lasted for about 45 minutes. I'm a bit fatigued now! Anyway, to the point, i got my highest round score of 124, made myself a new highest killer for someone (9 kills in one round on the same person), found out i'm only 5 hours away from making AT my favourite kit (zOMG the DAO is like t3h s3x), and probably the same time away from getting Gunnery Sergeant :) Oh and, he's the round summary for Wake Island, not the the best i've done in terms of titles held, but still quite good:

Oh and hows this for ownage, i'm driving in a jeep (Wake Island) away from one of my bases and notice a Black Hawk slowly rolling in. So i stop and get behind the machine gun. The pilot of the Hawk is the guy that was kicking arse on the other team, so my rival, things were tense. As i unleashed hell towards the bird i noticed him spot me and fly directly at me. I had about 2 seconds to bring the Black Hawk down before i became 'road kill'. I carried on blasting the cockpit area as it rapidly approached and the whole thing exploded. I'm looking up at this huge carcass of what was a helicopter plummeting from the sky at my jeep and practically pooing myself. It hit the floor about 3 metres in front of the jeep, slid along the ground and scraped the bumper. Top battle action 👍
 
Anyone else from the UK up for a game on Saturday afternoon or night. Because me and DQuaN will be going on a server. On Saturday, if you are tempted.

First download Xfire, and once you install it. Me and DQuaN will give you are names. So you can add us to your buddy lists.

BF2 was buggered last night :grumpy:

Apparently all the servers were down for maintenance, there were only about 50 that you could play on, so obviously they were all full.

What was even more annoying is that after taking forever to join a server, I got disconnected quite a few times. Apparently I was kicked for either teamkilling or as a result of a successful kick vote. Even though it happened 30seconds after starting the game.

I hope its back to normal tonight.

Also, i won the Basic Medic Award last night. But then after getting kicked, i didn't have it. If you get kicked, do you loose everything you earned in that game?
 
Unsure about whether you lose the stuff or not, but it's quite possible that due to how busy it was you could have been kicked to make room for a reserved (maybe clan) member.
 
DQuaN hope we can still have another game next weekend, any other European BF2 players want a game. When me and DQuaN are on a server.

800 x 600? I thought you had like a 6800 GT.
 
Got Xfire then mate. One funny moment I also missed, was i was shooting DQuaN with bullets.

While he was in a APC, as a way to make sure. Someone on my team could sneak up and lay C4, on his APC. While he was in there then blow up the APC. I was like i,m behide you DQuaN.
 
I use 800x600 too but your draw distance in the jet is much further than mine. I have it on 80 or 85 I think.

I think the reason is because, i have 2 different types of ram. But upping it too, 2 Dimms of 1GB Dual Channel DDR3200 Ram (Total 2GB, and Ram meant for Gaming). Total cost of the ram is nearly £200.
 
Cool pics. Glad you guys are liking this game. It is still one of the best online games I have ever played for the xbox. If I had it for PC I would be with you guys for sure. 👍

That is quite strange. I run 2600+, 1 GB 3200, 128MB 9800 Pro and the game goes fine at 1280x1024 with most settings on at least medium and 2x AA. I don't notice much slow down due to internet play, just that everything takes ages to load and when the game finally commences there's a 5 second stutter.

I suppose it must be your RAM as the other components are pretty well specced. I know nothing about the consequences of using unmatched RAM though.

RAM makes a massive difference.

I was running 2x1024mb single channel and was getting 18 - 30fps occasional 40-50. Switched to dual channel and now it doesnt drop under 30 and goes as high as 70 - 80.

Thanks for the comments about the pics 👍, i may have some more soon, show you how nice the water looks in Wake Island 2007.

I have now 657 points in Battlefeild, w00t. Dad has over 5000 and my other brother has over 3000.

My last few maps i was an engineer and got the highest repair points (10) and highes engineer score (26) for that game. Im not the best of players but i avg 25 - 40 points per game. Sometimes focus on killing other times focus on repairing artilary and vechiles and laying mines etc. Im mainly a sniper guy though.

Any requests of pics for certain spots?
 
I,m going to do some tweating in the Bios, for changing the size of the AGP aperture. But DQuaN I cannot spot his Xfire name.
 
He might mean me, although i do struggle sometimes with TVR's posts ;)

If you do mean me TVR, i don't have Xfire but i can get it if it helps with getting onto the correct Battlefield servers.
 
Yeah, hopfully your have more luck with Xfire. Then DQuaN, he could see I was on a server. But when you right click on a name most times, it allows you to click on: Join Server.

Hope you have been putting in some good battles on the battlefield of late DQuaN.
 
My 6800GT and A64 3200 with 2 gigs of RAM have no problems with 1280x1024, mostly high gfx settings and 2xAA 8xAF. Last time I checked it never went below 30fps at the worst of times with an average of about 50fps :)

I notice on your screenshots TVR that there don't appear to be any dark shadows? is this because your running the graphics so low? I like the shadows but sometimes there too damn dark (doesn't help by the fact my card/monitor seems to make games dark in general). Don't really want to turn down my loverly graphics though :D

Hmm might have a go now, see if I can salvage myself some BF : SF arsenal ;)
 
i cant wait to get off dial-up and finally play online :(

anyways, in the sp demo im finding i like the ak-74u beter then the g36c :erm:

how much harder on the machine is the full game over the demo? i have a xp1500+ cpu, 1 gig of ram, and a 9700 pro 128 and the demo runs fine with everything on medium with x4aa. i dont remember the frame rate command so i cant give exact numbers there.

Remember I think the problem, why I have to run most settings low. Is because of 2 different types of DDR2700 ram is installed mate.
