As far as missions, and being one of the dumbest guys around, I'll say straight out that I've gone as far as the 'All Ghillied up' mission, and haven't completed it yet. After that, I tried out the online mode, and never even looked back, although I'd love to finish the game itself.

Referring to that, where the hell did you guys camp to get that mission done? (I'm at level 2, by the way) I mean, while you're waiting for the rescue chopper to arrive and there are dozens of Russians arriving at all times. I've laid prone on the right of the metal structure, but it doesn't take much (even trying my best) to get them past the defense line ang getting grenades right next to me or even surrounding me and getting me from behind.
I loved that mission (so far, the most realistic of them all), but I've been stuck there for a while and went to online mode. How did you guys did it?

Its my first and only fps on the PS3 I am rather good at first person shooters but these tend to be the gung-ho arcade stuff, and I am now looking forward to a more tactical style of play. I used to play the old delta force games for the PC, and I really love the long range fighting style, from the missions so far in COD4 I have seen both long range and close quaters combat, which should be great fun, esspecially in multi player.

Which mission are you refering to though, the part in chynoble where you have are by a ferris wheel and have to fight of the attacking soldiers?

Yeah, the one with the ghillie suit (flashback mission - 15 years ago), after you do the snipe shot on the bad guy, go through the hotels and apartments carrying your wounded mate, and camp near the big wheel fighting off the enemies with a sniper rifle while waiting for the rescue chopper to arrive.

Firstly I put him down where He told me to, I then planted all the claymores I had in a dome shape around me. Lay flat on the hill, with the sniper and just shot at them, I didn't shoot at the wild dogs as they helped kill my opponents. I also had the MP5 as my secondary weapon if I recall correctly. this was just to help dispose of any nearby enemies who made it past the claymores. By the end of the fightall the claymores where detonated by my enemies.

I was doing it in easy mode so that may explain why I found it fairly easy.

@Beerz: Excellent write-up mate! I didn't spot it first time round, I've just seen it now, and its superb. One thing I realised when I read them is that the maps are totally different when played in different game modes. I always play Ground War, so I only ever see TDM or Domination game modes. The same map can have a very different experience depending on the type of game being played there.

For instance, you could talk about strategic locations depending on game mode. On Crossfire, the location of B (in domination) is without a doubt the most important flag to hold onto. On Crash, The blue house is another strategic position to hold - it over looks B, a super tough flag to capture.

Crash: Yeah, yeah! Great write-up. 👍

Pipeline: Again a superb write-up, but I feel you should of placed some more emphasis on the tunnels as they are fantastic 'get there quick' routes on domination. There are exits by A, B and C. I like to use them as your relatively free to swap from one side of the map to the other with little or no confrontation. 👍

LOL, I know what you mean about trying to describe positions in the game. Unless you hadn't noticed. I describe places in relation to the flag positions in domination. Its the best I can think of. Anyone know any better?

On a side note, I am going to try and use my DSC to capture some screens of things I think are important to look at, maybe they will help explain better. We'll see anyway... 👍 Maybe you and I Beerz, could collaborate a little yeah? 👍

Great Write-ups on the maps Beerz, and you know me I can also help out with the write-ups if you need it cause I think I know the maps pretty well.

For the "All Ghillied Up" mission, I put my partner down and set up the claymores around where they would come from, around cars was good because a chain reaction would start because of an explosion. After sniping the enemies from a distance and the wave kept on coming I ran and swapped an enemies AK47 for my pistol and that helped with the closer enemies. It was getting real close to the end when I thought I was going to die but a couple lucky shots and the Heli came and picked us up. So I mainly just kind of stayed near my partner and didn't venture too far out into the battle. On Normal and Veteran.

Maybe some of us NA members can play today, I am free for a while.

Where are the bumper cars? I never noticed them but it has been a while since I did that mission.

Omnis great playing with you and Dead_Poetic last night, we all had some really great games but it got kinda messed up when we were all sending party invites and we kinda got split-up for a game then back again. But me and you had some good games when it was me and you, I had to leave after that last Countdown match, too late.

I got COD4 yesterday, I have only attepted the missions thus far, I am playing in easy mode and I am up to the one after the chyenoble (spelling?) mission. Would I be advised to complete the one player mode, before moving onto multiplayer. How many more missions are there?

I found it good to play the single-player mode through first, it gives you a good feel of a lot of the guns and how to play the game, once you jump into online though you have to get alot faster. I did my single-player on normal and felt I was ready for online after completing the game.

After looking at the vids on here it looks like the 360 version is the most "locked". There are some maps that I don't think the 360 version has.

I may have to try the ps3 version, I'd definitely would want to give the pc version a go though.

Man I was trying but I just can't keep up with the likes of you and Pako. Although I could have sworn a couple times I drew my knife first but no dice. And I wasn't trying to camp if it seemed like it. I just usually like to move around a measured and steady pace, not that it helped me much in this case obviously

Oh, I thought you were comparing it to the PS3 version since you're posting in its thread. Yeah, there are some extras with the PC version, but the PS3 one is identical.

Map, guns and perks-wise yes. Joining games apparently take longer, and getting into friend's game is harder (since there is no in-game XMB). They have had a patch that fix a few issues, but I'm not sure if that's anything major. Since I don't have both versions I don't know if there are more players in a game or not, but almost everything is identical.

The Xmas map for PC was included in the v1.4 patch, which I've yet to install.

I accidentally picked up a laptop. For some reason. It told me I'd picked up "Intel" 1 of 30. I assume there's a point behind this? Some sort of hidden cheaty thing?

Famine - they're not really necessary, only if you want to do it all 100% complete. But they might unlock some bonus stuff if you pick all up, I'm not sure.

Free-for-alls. No idea if they're good scores or not.

Getting a little annoyed by being 1-shot killed but having to headshot or unload full clips to kill people, but I assume that's a function of player levels. Most of my kills are knife-related - and I got a 5-inna-row

My brother said that he camped out at the booth to the right of the ferris wheel, but that didn't really work for me. The time I got it right I went past the bumper cars to the right. I started shooting them from there. I had to move around a little and jump around when a couple of them got closer. You can also use the trees for cover.
