I was alright with the AK-47 at long range. It was my main weapon of choice until I unlocked the P90.

I recommend the MP5 for you newbies at CQC since you can be so quick with it. If you have a laid-back personallity in the game then it isn't for you... When you see an enemy barge right into him and shoot him to death. :D

The AK47 is alright... Its accuracy is a bit off, but for such a simple gun, it's quite amazing really.

Edit: Hit quote instead of Edit...

How quickly can you switch from rifle to RPG? as the grenade launcher is almost instant which is what I like about it. Perhaps more importantly for me specifically; does the RPG displace the slot for your pistol? because I often switch to the pistol instead of re-loading my rifle when locked in combat, rather than finding cover to reload then re-engaging the enemy.

[edit] Nice post beerz, I am still learning the levels so that will come in very handy.

The Rifle/RPG switch takes slightly longer than the Rifle/Grenade Launcher switch, but not a lot longer at all; and you get to keep your psitol.

Sting's Gun History

1st: MP5 - Started off with the trusty MP5. Staple of forces around the world. Good weapon and fire rate and a perfect weapon for the beginner, heck I still pick them up when I kill another player with one.

2nd: AK-47 - Weapon that I played with the most. Customized with digital camo and underbarrel grenade launcher I got very well used to this weapon. Long range accuracy questionned, but I found it alright in quick 1 shot bursts for long range.

3rd and Current: P90 - Living out my Stargate SG1 fantasies now with the P90. CHoice for sprayers for its high fire rate, but with patience and burst firing, super lethal. Customized mine with digital camo and red dot scope(yes I do have the ACOG unlocked), and using the bandolier perk, I feel at home with this weapon.

Sniper: M40A3 - My choice for sniper rifle until I unlock the Barrett .50cal. Tried out the Remington but found I did better with the M40A3, strange but true.

I turned into Jack O'Neill ("Two Ls!") when I found out I could have a P90. When I'm high enough to use it online, I shall be.

Sweet, sounds perfect, I am going to try that later.

My most used weapons are:

M4 - I just love this gun, good rate of fire, its not quite as powerful as I would like but if you are quick enough with it is still deadly (got my K/D to 1.93). I use it with the 2 X Claymore, Stopping Power, and Martyrdom perks.

Barrett .50Cal - This sniper isn't for everyone, easily the most powerful sniper is a one-hit-kill with a shot anywhere except the legs... maybe. It has a big recoil but for me that is ok as long as I can kill one enemy, steady it and hit another without out alot of frustrating recoil. I use it with the Brandolier, Stopping Power, and Iron Lungs perk.

M60 - Just recently made this a new class, I never used it before but if my M4 ran out of ammo and I saw one of these bad boys I would surely pick it up. Once you get the grip and or sights for this weapon I find it pretty accurate. But still not used as much as my M4 or Barrett.

P90 - I used this for a week and got tired of it, the great rate of fire is good but I didn't find it powerful enough even with Stopping Power, in the time that I used it I picked up alot of kills and it makes an appearance every now and then, a decent SMG. I used it with the Brandolier, Double-Tap, and Martyrdom perks.

Like my fellow "Veterans" I have noticed alot of lower ranked players recently, I am guessing because of Christmas, there has been a boom in lower levels. I am loving it, say I don't want to big of a challenge I will go to Domination or TMD and find myself surrounded by lvl1-10 players making it really easy to rack up kills.

Just finished playing today for a while and had some great games, a domination at Countdown going 64-4-10, Domination Overgrown going 30-3 (sniping) and TDM Crossfire going 40-15. I love this game.

I'm waiting...

Admittedly I can only play the first two types (Team Deathmatch and Deathmatch), but I am ready for a game...

Failing that, I'll be around from 8pm GMT onwards tomorrow and the next 4 days.

Cool, I'm on tonight, from about 8pm GMT too. I'll look for you. 👍

Last night made my balls ache big time! It was taking 15-30 minutes just to download setting, then a further 10-20 minutes to find a game, and finally when I got a round, I got the now all too familiar 'HOST ENDED GAME'.... ARGH... i was averaging 2 round an hour - pathetic! I ended up crashing on the couch last night woke up at 4am with a joypad stuck in my ear... :odd:

Hmm.

I accidentally picked up a laptop. For some reason. It told me I'd picked up "Intel" 1 of 30. I assume there's a point behind this? Some sort of hidden cheaty thing?

In single-player, the laptops can be collected to unlock single-player cheats that alter the way the game is played. There are 30 in total to collect. Follow the link below for more info on the laptops etc:

w00t!

[sly]

Now go beat this.

[/sly] :p

That's nothing... :sly: Look on the kills screen (in barracks), and go to the top of the global list, scroll down a few pages and look at the guy with a 150 kill streak!!! You would think you can't beat that, but I saw a guy at rank 9000 ish with 163!!!

BTW, 114 kills with 24 deaths is very impressive! Shipment is notorious for throwing up large scores like that. Did you manage a good streak?

150 kill streak!!! that is incredible, that dude must have really known how to cover, shoot etc... or he just got lucky as hell.

I've never, ever used a Claymore actually. I suppose it would give you lots of kills since they still catch me out occasionally. :ouch:

Not really, since they disappear when you die. I'm not the type to sit around and wait for my claymores to explode, so they're worthless to me. I'd rather dink a nade on your face than wait for your foot to hit my claymore.

I would check but since the 360 one is different I can't. Best streak I've ever seen on the boards is 94 a few weeks ago.

As for the streak, it was 22, my record. Unfortunetely, as random and chaotic the map is, someone spawned next to me and knifed me before I beat it. :(

I love this game.

You and me both mate! I have very little to complain about the actual game, which seems to be nigh on perfect! Any anger I have is directed solely towards the online matchmaking thing that like to ruin a good night of pwning!

I completely agree, the game is tons of fun, but they still have some things to do to work out all of the kinks of the online. One of the worst things is sitting on your couch/chair for 10-20 minutes and not even play a game.

Although I've seen my fair share of annoying online kinks, finding matches has not been one of them. I don't think I've waited more than 5mins to get into a game. Then again so far I've only been playing F4A and TDM, so maybe that makes a difference.

Played a fair bit with Pako and Omnis yesterday, and along with past matches with Beerz, I am repeatedly amazed at how quickly, smoothly and accurately you guys are able to get someone (well me obviously) in your sights and dead. Many times I feel equal on the target acquisition aspect, but when it comes down to sighting you guys in and firing accurately, while moving, I'm just too damn slow :grumpy: It's kinda frustrating as I'm used to being at least competent in competitions, but this whole FPS learning curve is giving me fits at times. I'm finding all these bad habits in my technique (namely staying still while firing and letting off the right stick when depressing the R1 button) that I'm having a bugger of a time breaking. Think I need to go play some F1:CE on hard to remind myself I'z stillz haz sumz gamz skillz

And IW can chalk up another sale as I just got a buddy wayyyyy hooked on CoD4 last night. I brought it over to his place to try out and he did not flinch from about 12am to 4am. Hell I had fun just watching him struggle through the offline first 4 levels. This thing is without a doubt one of the greatest pieces of programming ever, even for a guy who's never particularly liked FPS's.

Its quater to eight, so I am going online now. Hope to see some of you on soon.

I'm just finishing up some Veteran missions and I'll be right there. Probably try some Team Deathmatch games tonight.

I just tied first place, but its not quite a win.

So who's level 55? lmao

I am lvl55 and have been for about a month, I opted to stay at lvl55 instead of trading in all my weapons and skins etc for a little symbol that means nothing to me. Beerz is second lvl Prestige, Omnis is into Prestige. I am not sure about everyone elses level.

I'm 4th Prestige lvl 31...

I just had fun with you and GT4Genius - but the game ended 0.8s before it was due to end. Apparently "The Host Has Left The Game".

Grr. I was 4:3 up :D

It would appear the host left the game again, in that one I was shot while planting the bomb in thier base.

The match before that was genius. 4 players with Lv3, 4, 2x and 3x. So the 2x and 3x players are paired up against the 3 & 4 players.

The outcome wasn't certain. No sir.

Sounds like all you guys are having a blast online in Europeland, I can't wait till you guys get the patch then maybe we can try to set up a GTP NA Vs. EU private matchup.

What a match, 16 kills for me alone

+1 - that would definitely be pretty cool.

Now that I think about it even more, that would be a great thing to do. Set up European and North America teams, have a few practices or something like that then have a great big tournament with a bunch of different match types. I am getting excited.

Just started a nice Team Deathmatch - "Connection Interrupted", "Host Ended Game".

Great. And now, of course, I can't find a game to get into. It's nice playing the GTP guys, but I need more points :(

Same here, I am only just getting decent attacments for my weaponry and then I unlock a better gun, so I have to start over again.
