Sometimes, stores will let you change your pre-order to a different system. Most do actually. But Im worried that it will be a port as well. As duck said, all of the footage that we have seen is from the 360 version. On gametrailers, all of the videos that show upgrades, (i.e. sleight of hand) are from the 360 version. And the clip of COD4 on that "sizzle" video doesnt look too spectacular.

Well, looks like they fixed the AA issues.

Same level of AA between 360/PS3, both @ 60fps.

Hate on the PS3 all you want guys, but we've done did it up right for the Sony lovers. Nothing has been 360 footage yet touted as PS3, you crack-heads! I'm not sure whats up with what you guys might have seen at E3, but we do have AA on the PS3.

And there was a multiplayer video from the PS3 version released recently, and there wasn't a difference between the two versions, so it looks like that's all good.
 
Is there a way to duplicate this, and other PS3/360 game threads into the 360 forum? I don't really have any reason to go into this forum, but I see a lot of games that apply to both systems in here.

Anyway, I hope this game turn out to be at least as good as the 360 version, I am so freaking tired of developers concentrate too much on the 360 and then *** up the PS3 owners.

While their actual site is really lame (reporting on Jeff Bell heckling forum user = lol), their podcast/show is really good.

They're a bunch of idiots and have been known to ridicule games before their releases.
 
Hey, if they do pull this off with the PS3, it might actually be enough to convince me to buy for the PS3 instead. 👍

Guess I'll have to see comparison videos closer to release to be sure, though.
 
So CoD4 is out this year, around October/November? If it is, dang, I'm going to have FPS's coming out of my ears! I think I need to prioritise my FPS games.
I'm looking at (in order of chronolgy)-
BioShock (which I am getting)
Halo 3 (I might get Heavenly Sword as I'll be playing Bioshock for at least a month or so)
Unreal Tournament III (not sure on this, never played an Unreal game and it seems awfully fast and "in-yer-face")
What's next Haze or CoD4? If it's CoD4 I'll have that first and Haze will have to wait.
But do I need 5 FPS games in 5 months? I'll be sick of 'em by the time Killzone 2 is out!
So BioShock and CoD4 definite. Halo 3 and Haze can wait. Unreal III? I'll see.

Anyway, CoD4 looks very impressive. Glad it's an improvement over the earlier CoD games (not just the graphics but the gameplay too).👍

Its pretty funny when he gets asked what the competition will be on the PS3, he doesnt even say anything. Which, in order for there not to be any competition with it, the graphics had better be just as good as the 360 version. Not to mention he kinda disses Killzone 2.

That is an interesting clip. I was surprised he didnt have an answer for the competition with PS3 games, especially because Killzone 2 looks really good from most trailers. I am thinking that the next SOCOM Confrontation from what I have heard is also going to be an amazing PS3 game.

Well, I think that the real reason that he didnt say KZ2, or MGS4 is because they are coming out next year. As for this fall, the only game that can be compared is Medal of Honor: Airborne, and we all know that it wont be as impressive. Maybe he could have said Unreal Tournament 3?
 
I guess so, but didn't he say Grand Theft Auto 4 would be some competition, that was moved back to March 08. I think you may be right though, COD4 seems like one of the only blockbuster games coming out for for late 2007 and he didnt want to mention the handfull of 2008 games that will be awesome.
 
Asking someone to discuss their competitor's product, and expecting an honest response, or expecting them to openly talk about competitive products that may very well be as good or better than their own and that would compete directly against them in the marketplace is probably unrealistic.

Maybe, but if he had felt that way, then he wouldn't have given an answer on either platform.
 
Not necessarily. Of course you'd have to ask him... and hope to get an honest answer to really know what his reasons were. That said, they are in the business to promote and sell their own games, not their competitors, so that at least gives us some idea what might be the reasons behind some of the comments made by game developers when talking about their competition's products.
 
CoD4 is really looking nice. I'm a fan of GRAW and its style of play that doesnt include "run and spray" rot. Things that actually take skill to do/master. I might pick it up for the 360 however. Simply because my brothers havent go ta PS3 yet and they've played both 2 and 3 on the 360 so i'll go for that version.

Looks great so far! We need new features and a move toward "next gen" features in FPS'ers. We get far to much of the same old same old with just slightly different mediacre graphics and half-done features**.




** Like how about a proper co-op single player feature for these FPS's that all have team elements in them but only have AI controlled charactors!!! INSANELY dumb OVER SIGHTS!! ggrr
 
Update: A brand new trailer for COD4 was made available on the Japanese PS Store last night... looks even better than before! 👍

Also, at the end they mention there is an extended and unedited version of the trailer on COD4's official website.

I'm not a big fan of war games, but this really does seem like it's going to be a big hit.


Oh... and speaking of COD4 videos, if you haven't seen it already, there is a hilarious spoof video review for COD4 by Russian President Vladimir Putin on gametrailers.com

Rumor has it that the ps3 version is the better looking version and all the source material is identical on all platforms. 'm not big on shooters either but this one looks nice. I just got Rainbow Six Vegas and that's a blast online.
 
This game is definitely on my list of games to get within the next two weeks :D. I can't wait for the 5th.
 
So this game is meant to be set near in and around chernobyl right? In that case how does it differ from Stalker in terms of the environment? Yes its more warfare than sneaking around but I feel it would be better if it were set elsewhere or in multiple places.

Can anyone tell me the background story of COD4... like when its set and what is meant to be going on?

Im really keen on this game but I hope its not just Stalker with hundreds of soldiers and minus monsters!

Based on the ending, it would appear they are going to release a new video each day for the next six days until the game is released.
