Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare

after beating the game of medium today and playing the multiplayer for a while, now at level 18 ( gunnery seargent II) I love the online, when you first start out its tricky because its so much faster and people shoot you from everywhere. Now it seems like my head is on more of a swivel and i take people out all the time.

The only thing is i was reconnecting my USB headset when the game froze while in online, the controller was not responsive so my only choice was to turn it off manually at the back. I go back online and everything is workign right and good, the next time i go online it takes forever for it to "download game settings" right after entering online.

I came on here to turn the PS3 off for a while then I'll go back at it, anyone know what to do or just wait out this download?

Well, CoD4. I have it and it certainly looks good and plays very well. But God, I do wish they'd shut up in the single player game. It is so irritating to hear the same phrases again and again and again. I know where they are because they're shooting at me! "Pick up the Javelin to take out the Tanks!". I know, shut up! I don't need to be hand-held to get through the level. It really irks me.

The sound effects are good though and it's very, very smooth. However some of the sounds are from earlier CoD games such as the tinkling sound of grenades thrown at you (which are far too accurate).
I would have liked to customise my controls, but generally they're okay.

I have no idea what's going on in the story but I'm only at the last level in Act I. Not that I care really, it seems a fairly reactionary piece of gung-ho nonsense.
I would like to see more stealthy levels later on.

Not tried multiplayer yet but I'm sure it'll be a blast.

I agree with much of it, but sometimes, when Im in the heat of battle, I tend to lose focus on what my guys are saying, and I need it to be repeated, especially in that javelin level. I didnt know what the hell a javelin was(Aside from the actual spear looking thing, and i wasnt going to try to take down a tank with one of those).

And about the stealthy levels, OMG, just wait for Ghillies in the Mist. You will absolutely love it. Its so awesome.

And @formuladriver, I am at level 20 or 21, cant remember, but I will add you tonight and maybe we can play together sometime?
 
this is kinda freaking me out, i put it back on after 30 minutes to see whats going on, the "downloading game settings" is still up but i noticed that while it is downloading it says that my rank is now at 1 and the symbol is of the first rank, it should be rank 18 and a 5 arrowed symbol.

DP it would be great to play with some GTPers but until i get this problem sorted out i dont think I'll be able to play online, and don't forget to add my other PSN: CrazyJoeDavola

edit: now the split-screen mode has freezed when loading and I am wondering if I need a new disc, I have a 1 year warantee but I am worried that I will have to start online again from scratch.

edit:after leaving the PS3 off for 4 hrs the online works again, whoever wants to play just add me and send an invite.
 
Just finished it on Medium also.... Cool game, going though it again...
 
Yea, in the Xbox 360 CoD4 thread, everyone is pointing out all of its flaws, and although some are significant, they make it out to seem much worse than what I have seen.

@Pako, just curious, about how long did it take you to finish the game?

Actually reading the comments in the 360 thread im now wondering whether its worth buying because it seems ridiculously short, I would try and make it last (like I have done with graw) but some seem really annoyed that it was great for literally 3 days! If its already 'old hat' whats the point...

I really need to wait for like a demo to see if its worth it.....

Next stop for me will probably be GT5P..

Not sure... Certainly a weekend of casual playing should get it done. If I had to guess, 18 hours maybe.
 
Ive always wandered what you guys do to complete a game, ive got COD4 and i know for a fact its guna take me months to complete it. guessim not as hardcore as some people :D

BTW its a great game and i am enjoying it.
 
Took me about 14 hrs or so on the normal difficulty setting, I thought the game was awesome and I have replayed through All Ghillied Up like 5 times, it is the best mission of the game. For me, even though I thought the single player game was awesome, once I played online I was even more hooked. After the online problem I was having last night fixed itself I burned through about 3 hours of online easily.

With the online theres so many challenges and stuff to do that you want to level up, using all the different guns and unlocking camo and stuff is great. Cant wait till I get to lvl49 to get that .50cal Barrett.
 
Hey what is the digital camo that you can unlock by getting 25 headshots with a weapon?

And I beat the game to day as well. It was cool. I really enjoyed it and All ghillied up was probably my favorite level as well. I guess the game is pretty short though.
 
It is like the other camo's but more like black and grey I think, i have it for a couple weapons but when your playing you don't really notice it, i prefer the woodland camo.

Ya when I said I beat it in 14 hrs that was a big exageration, probably more like 8-10, we will have to play online though, maybe a GTP clan?
 
I just picked up the game today! not tried it on normal game mode yet as I jumped straight online with it :dopey: pretty much getting my ass handed to me on a plate in my first few attempts but I'm sure I will get to grips with it 👍

So far my only faults are the time it takes to enter a battle and the amount of times I shoot someone with the sniper rifle and forget to steady it with the L3 and end up shooting them on the leg and they just shoot back and kill me :crazy:

Great graphics and awesome sounds from the Jets bombing the place :cheers:

for the record ... my PS3 username is Mysteron71 and no doubt a few GTPers have seen that name on the screen after they killed me multiple times tonight ;) looking forward to seeing a faster connection and more players in there soon :)

So, how is the shooting in multiplayer? Does it take just as long to kill a person as it does in the game, is it Rainbow Six-style where you better be the best on the planet because 1 shot can kill you (which is probably realistic), or is it Warhawk-like, where 100 shots might not kill a person?
 
It kindof varies for the health, you can be running around a corner get shot 4 times from a 30 feet away and die or you can manage to get away and your health will come back, some lives turn out to be pretty long.

I can't find the second intel in the One Shot, One Kill mission. It's up the fire escape after you come out of the first building after the SAS Captain is wounded. But as for the second intel, no idea.
Guess I'll try and find the rest.
 
Why does it take so long to join a game online? It takes like 5 minutes just to find one. Does it have anything to do with my rank? I'm sure other people got the game just for multiplayer.

EDIT: Okay, it's found a team deathmatch with a 12 player limit. I'm the only one in the room, and it's been looking for 5 more players for a couple minutes. Does nobody in the country own this game!?!?!
 
if you do a groundwar they usually find them quick, and yes they try sort it by rank, thats what the matchmaking is but it can take a long time to get into a game.

As for online, I'm beginning to enjoy it, though I'm fairly useless at it. But there are problems finding games (it takes a long time) and currently all it says on the screen at the moment is "downloading game settings" and it never changes after a good 10 minutes. I guess the servers are either a) getting hammered or b) crap.
 
I had that exact same problem the other day except mine was up for 20 minutes before I stopped it and put in a different game. I am starting to do really good on the online, last night I won like 4 straight games in kills. We will have to play each other, Ill add you as a friend.
 
Cool. I beat the single player mode and I think that last mission on the plane is the coolest one. It felt really Rainbow Six for some reason. Also, I've played more than a few online games and made it up to level 4. Team Deathmatch is great fun.
 
Yea the online never works for me, it always takes too long of says downloading settings or whatever. It makes me so mad, I havent been able to get into a game in two days.
 
just gotta be patient I guess, i've had several "downloading game settings" too and you just have to wait a little while and it usually works (but i agree it's kinda annoying, hopefully they fix this soon)
 
They are working on the servers for the game. They admit they took a "slamming".

Infinity Ward is working at full steam to fix the crippled online servers for the PS3 version of Call of Duty 4, after they were "slammed" by the rush of players.

The incredible Call of Duty 4 hit shelves last Friday, and the high traffic on the online gameplay servers has caused irate gamers to experience a string of connection errors over the weekend.

Last night I played the actual game mode for the first time 👍 started playing at 6pm and played until 2am when I finished the game :cool: It's so damn good this game and some amazing missions ... I think my fave was running about with the sarge doing a few missions in heavy camoflague! .. it was just too good 👍

I feel more confident to go online now that I have a better feel of the game ;) and to anyone with a PS3 who is considering this game? I highly recommend it here and suggest you keep the volume nice and loud to have that beirut in your front room effect ;) :cheers:

I'd give this game a good 9/10 :cheers:
 
I got this games 2 days ago and it is awesome

It sucks when you first start out in multiplayer, but once you got better scopes and guns its very, very fun.

finally got to call an airstike yesterday and tonight my goal is to call in a chopper.

My favorite game mode is domination and favorite map is shipment or showdown

The only improvement on the multiplayer would be to add more filters to only join certain maps or only servers with a certain ping
 
I got 12 kills as my top streak, I am not sure how many kills all together but I think it said my ratio is at 1.4, level 31 whatever rank that is called. I definately want to set up some sort of GTP clan or just have a bunch of us playing.
