I am having absolutely ridiculous lag in every game I enter today ... I started to think if I stick with it then maybe it will go away! but not to be ... my player seems to be floating on the ceilings and flying 20 feet above some of the maps, I go through walls like a bloomin ghost and in the meantime the opposition are still killing me? I watched a kill cam where this guy shot me dead on Strike in the back alley as my player is headbutting a wall it seemed ... wtf?? I'm about to lose my patience totally and give up for today as even the games that start with a normal feel soon turn into a full on LSD hallucination

anyone else getting this crap also?

Nothing that bad, although yesterday at vacant, a team deathmatch 6 players or so met in the corridor, we all shot at each other for about 5 seconds re-loaded, (no one fell) shot at more opponents (no one fell) then the moment the firing stopped all 6 people collapsed, very bizzare I watched kill cam and couldn't quite workout what the hell was going on, I can only assume lag is to blame for the syncronised dying of many players. There where no explosions which makes it seem even more bizzare.

I've been deep in country playing hardcore mode, and Whilst I love that style of play better than any other part of the game now. I do have a massive bug bear....

AMATEUR BASTARDS ON YOUR OWN TEAM WHO USE THE MARTYRDOM PERK! 🤬 (excuse my 'French')

On Hardcore mode, everything is live, even your buddies bullets, flashes, and frags, even friendly air strikes are lethal! On top of that you have no nade indicator to show you were the nade is, you have to listen constantly for the 'ping-ping', or your dead.

So you can imagine how frustrating it is on Hardcore Search and Destroy, when there is just two of you left, going to defuse the bomb. He (or she) gets dropped trying to defuse it, but your still moving up, a couple of feet behind. You fail to hear the 'ping-ping' through all the commotion, and... BOOM!!! Your dead, round lost!!!

I swear, you do not want to hear how I sound off when I get killed by a team mate who uses that amateur martyrdom perk in that game mode!

Another thing that annoys me is the idiots that think its OK to walk through you line of fire. They get killed, and you get -50xp! If it happens more than once, you get a hefty penalty, and you locked out for about 15 or 20 seconds! Or, the indiscriminate random 'nading that is popular in other game modes? I've also lost count the amount of times, I've been behind enemy lines, stalking 'E', only to find that I've been fragged of sniped by my own side! Or even worst still, when an amatuer team mate (who incidentally is looking straight at you) just randomly opens fire in your face!

Hardcore mode takes hardcore patience, but I love it!!! When you get a server that is free of 'limited tacticians' aka noobs, you can have some really professional games. 👍

Have any of you guys had similar experiences whilst playing Hardcore mode?

@Beerz: Man, have you put some double XP cheat in or something!? Your flying through the levels now mate! I've went Prestige 3 last night (think I'm level 14 or something), and I'm still a way off you! You K/D is climbing nicely too. It won't be long until your 1.50 if you not already!

I'm actually trying something new this prestige level. I plan to use just the M16 for the vast majority of games, and only play Hardcore too.

My main combat setup is:

M16+Silencer+UAV Jammer+Claymores+Extreme Conditioning+Flash.

Once I unlock Overkill, I will use the M16, and A sniper rifle (probably the R700), and once I unlock Dead Silence, I will swap out Extreme conditioning. I have variations on the above setup that are tailored for certain levels, but as it is, this is how I play, and I plan to all this prestige level. Its going to be fun to see If I can play 55 levels with just the iron sights of the M16! I don't know about you, but I find that I seem to concentrate more with the iron sights than I do with the ACOG or even the RDS. I much prefer the feel of the sights on the M16 than the RDS on the M16 now.

Oh wow, it's incredible how oblivious people are to a silenced gun... My silenced MP5 on that small map in the desert (cannot remember the name) got me 62/14 on Headquaters...

Shame that when the enemy team is really good and manages to see you because they're barging around as well it's nearly useless!

About 4000 xp away from Prestige 5 as well.

Yes, Beerz has a habbit of killing everyone multiple times, I remeber my first match against him, 7 out of my 11 deaths were attributed to him

This seriously sucks guys, I haven't been able to play CoD4 for about 3 straight days now. My brother who is living back at home because of university holidays has basically taken control of the PS3, everytime I look he is playing some game and if I want to play... "Too bad, I am leaving in 2 days let me play" So I just walk away extremely pissed not being able to play. Basically if he is home, he is on his laptop while playing the PS3, he hasn't really left the house in the last few days but when he has, it is when I have gone too.

So if any of you guys see my ID online it is most likely my brother and he won't accept your invites (if sent). Also he is probably destroying my K/D ratio, which I had gotten up to a healthy 1.98, along with my other stats.

My k/d ratio is up to 1.51 now, and climbing. Still, I keep playing awful matches once (or more) every few, so it's not going up as fast as I wanted it to.

Famine - Yeah, I noticed it too while shooting at opponents, gets annoying and wastes ammo and lifes.
And I think so, since according to IW, there's NA (patched) and EU (which for them means Rest of the World), waiting for it.

Mr P - Yeah, we just kept facing each other. Still it was a great match.

Stevisiov - True, buddy. But you're MUCH better now, your stats have been improving dramatically. 👍

F1Driver - Man, that sucks... But see the positive side: if he gets really good, when he leaves you k/d ratio will be 3.87.

Just had an excellent free-for-all match using a nice silent combo of M16 + Silencer + UAV Jammer (trying to complete the silenced weapon challenge) and came out on top with a nice kill ratio of 17:4.

Someone mentioned it earlier, and I have to say I agree, its amazing how many people use the map as the main means of location people. If you don't show up and are not directly in the line of sight they ignore you, so if you move from vantage point to vantage point in the shadows it is as close to invisible as you can get.

Yeah giancarlo I was just trying to clarify things with all the confusion between which GTP'ers are located in what locations due to the current party invite problems given that the US has the connection patch and Europe doesn't (did I make that sentence run on long enough). Oh well, the best laid plans of mice and men...

That's the exact combo I used recently to net my first F4A 1st place, so obviously it's gotta have some potential Although I do have the problem of thinking at times I can still hit others 100m away... great way to waste cartridges that. Your note on tactics with this setup is good advice, especially based on my experience of using it much less efficiently.

For my ghost kit I can't deal with the M14, the recoil with the regular iron sights = can't kill anyone practically unless they're not looking at you. So i'm testing out the G36C right now.

Speaking of single player, is it just me or is "Charlie Don't Surf" in Veteran absolutely impossible?


I've been hexperimenting on the multiplayer maps and I've found what I think are some quality vantage points on three of them. I just need to be a smidge more familiar with the rest of them, I suspect.

I also now have a tactic of planting claymores in a deserted area of the map where I'm hiding, firing off a couple of rounds (so I show up on the map) and waiting for people to come to me. And nuke themselves.

I'm truly loving the M16 now (with RDS), and although I've unlocked the silencer (about to unlock the ACOG that I'll never use), I haven't used it yet. Must give it a try, as the M16´s iron sight is pretty accurate and doesn't take away any visibility.
Also, I’m one of the guys oblivious (most of the time unless I know someone out there has the UAV Jammer) to ‘invisible’ people…

The M14 feels quite crappy with the iron sights, true. You start thinking: “What’s so special about this piece of crap? I can’t kill anyone with it!!!”
And if you suffer through getting 25 kills with it, you unlock the RDS.
Then, you’ll see just how wonderful this weapon is. I’ve picked one up the other day which had the RDS, and I was immediately in love with it.
Super accurate, and very deadly. Awesome power too; 2 shots on the belly are enough to kill a guy. Same goes for the chest, and 1 single headshot dropped another one. Just beautiful.
Let us know what you think of the G36C then, I personally don’t like it that much (apart having a big magazine which is good, and a good fire-rate), as it gets worse and worse as distance between you and your tango increases. At mid-range, it’s already pretty much useless if the other guy is aware of your presence…


Stevisiov – Man, those guys of that clan on the Domination matches were really pissing me off…


Famine - I sometimes use the Claymores in a non-regular way too, not only to protect me while camping for a while.
For example, I plant 2 of them near cars that I know the opponent team will pass by (the ones on the alleys at Crash are perfect for this). I set one where they see it and one hidden, so that regardless if they see the 1st one (and shoot at it) or not, they'll generate a chain reaction with themselves and the nearby cars. It's so sweet!!!
I've once killed 3 guys at the same time with this tactic, usually Claymores get me at least 2 or 3 kills per match.
