First victory from the 'back'
r2k98HY.jpg

Only 3 qualified, a new record.

I did receive a question mark from 2nd place. Was I dirty here?

I did draft bump to get by, yet mr Brazil hit me 3 times.

Nurb in the Lancer was a lot of fun last time! :)

Yeh it was. I got bumped off at T8 (near Aremburg), drifted through the sand trap and kept going last time. Looked pretty spectacular. I'll probably do Nurburgring a couple of times this week, but I get bored driving the same car round the same track multiple times.

So... on to Cirque du Soleil! Yes volks, the circus has come to town once more with the usual insanity. I put in a qualifying time 6s slower than I was aiming for. 10s slower than the top 10 for la Sarthe is not an unreasonable target. That surprisingly had me starting P8/18 *and* the non qualifiers didn't start at P9 :p. There were some other DR/D much to my surprise, but it was mostly DR/As and Bs.

My P8 start had autodrive letting go mid chicane. I took it carefully and slipped past the guy in front who was caught out and spun out . Since I was playing the long game and short shifting, I kinda expected my position would start sliding back... that took longer than I was expecting! By the time we were on Mulsanne, I was in P1:scared:. P2 caught up to me at the first chicane because I was taking it so gingerly. I just pulled aside and let him through.. I knew P1 wasn't going to be my place ... I was going to be happy finishing anywhere in the top half.

As the race went on I got passed by a few more, mostly on corners, where I politely let them through. I had a bit of a battle with a fellow Aussie. He'd pass me by out braking me at the corner, then I'd pass him again on the straits. This went on for 2 laps till I picked up a 1s penalty at one of the chicanes, forget which one. He was able to widen the gap and off he went.

Coming up through Porsche on the final lap, I was running on fumes. The guy in front of me was running in less than fumes. I was fighting the tyres a bit by this stage, so picked up a 1s penalty at Maison Blanche, but was 4s clear of him. Kinda surprised I crossed P5 . The guy who finished P2 wasn't happy with himself. He thought he'd won, but he had a penalty. I was pleased I managed to a) *not* get any penalties at Tertre Rouge for a change, and b) not end up in the sand at the Mulsanne corner....for a change :dopey:.

I didn't see what the story with anyone below P12, but P1 to P2 only 3 of us had a blue sportsmanship rating. Brutal! So the damage? I thought I ran a pretty contact free race, but I only gained 1SR. According to Kudos I was only on DR1 for 1 day, but I was sure I was DR1 for at least 2 days. Also according to Kudos, that P5 was worth 1015DR . I think that's the highest number of points I have ever gained from a single race :odd:.

The clock starts over... Day 1 above DR 1 :dopey:.

@Sven Jurgens That is the kind of situation where i say "whats a few sr between friends" we know the system is broken and a move like that shouldn't be a sr down for either driver, and as long as your a generally clean driver it shouldn't cost you anything by the end of the day...

Le Mans, done. I finally did it, I finally won a race in my favorite track.

Got a pole from a 3min28s time with the Porsche 919, which I'm sure I can drop quite a bit yet. By the end of the first lap, I was 5 seconds ahead, which gave me the chance of just micromanage fuel consumption so that I basically had fuel for going 100% in the last lap to get a fastest time of 3min24. Eventually, I ended the race 14 seconds ahead of the second placed guy. Pretty much everyone else had to stop :D.

I had a great week at the RBR last week. It's such a fast lap- and so many opportunities to come in hot with some late braking. It'd be a great circuit for drifting.

However, on to my favorite- Le Mans! Definitely want to try some different cars this week. Being a Toyota fan I've always used the TS050, which is stable and predictable. Maybe I'll try something hotter from Group C. Looking forward to it!

I had time for 2 C races before work, today. Started from the back in both. First one was in the TS050. I started the final lap in 7th, and passed 2 guys who ran out of gas for a 5th place finish.

2nd race was in the LM55. I got too aggressive at the start, and got knocked in the sand, winding up dead last. My fault. :banghead:

Later in that race, near the end of the 3rd lap, I made it up to 6th, then look what happened. Check out out the leaderboard on the top left of the screen.

Finished 3rd. 👍

*For those who prefer automatic transmissions, and use fuel mapping for fuel saving, rather than short-shifting, the LM55 goes 5.1 laps with FM3. :)
*The TS050 goes 5.1 laps with FM1, but just isn't as fun to drive.

Killed it at the RBR, wish i had more time to race, got myself about 4,000 DR points in three nights and finished the week as an A-A driver. The track really suits me as it has big stops, a lack of long corners that kill me on the DS4, and if you're patent, guys will fall off the road, take each other out or will get a time penalty. penalties REALLY hurt at the RBR because even half a second on the back straight is a full 3 second loss of time.

The key there is patience and to yield a bit when fighting, exits are absolutely critical so no point going in late on the inside as you will just be dead meat on the straight. Just wait, brake a touch early and exit hard, guys often screw up even in SR-S races.

Will not race this week as I will be busy and all three races are terrible for me.

What's the strategy for race C?

Go to race B, do not pass start :dopey:

Last time it was no stop, fuel save, go easy at first to spare tires and save fuel for the last lap.
For GR.C 962C has the best mileage, then the R92CP. You'll be flying by people on the straights. (And get rear ended in the braking zone )
GR.1 TS050 easily makes it while the Peugeot 908 always does well, doesn't need much fuel saving and is very stable.

What determines where you start if you don’t set a quali time? I’m trying to do the “15 Consecutive Clean Races” thing in Race B, just starting at the back and going for a cruise in the country.....but so many people are also not qualifying, and I’m starting like 7, 8, 9, right in the middle of the soup.

Is it random, or based on when you sign up for the event, or what?

This race is hilarious though, I just did one where I started 8th, pulled over, was last by T1.....and then cruised to a 4th place finish because everyone either crashed or had massive penalties

Honestly I think I’d rather race at the Thunderdome than at the Green Hell online
Hard same, I understand why manufacturers use it for testing and it's great to time trial, but it's **** for racing online, too fast and too narrow.

Excited for the return of the FFs, I picked up a bunch of DR last time we had them around, and La Sarthe is always fun.

Thanks! I'm mainly doing race C cause I don't care for N series cars in this game haha. And I need to get better overall so I should probably stop avoiding race C.

To much distractions this morning to race, so i am just trying to get comfy and set a decent qt for the nord. I will probably not be doing the other races this week. I no like fwd nor the track, i might run some laps for C just for kicks but i can't see myself being comfortable enough to race in gr1

It's sorted on DR. If you really want to start last you have to be DR.1. And even when I reached that on Catalunya, I still had people starting behind me. No clue what the order is for multiple unqualified DR.1 players, race count maybe?

It might be interesting, but I've stopped worrying about it. I try to compare myself to most of the members here. For example, I set a 1:31.4 at RBR in a Mustang earlier in the week. There are guys in the lobbys & here with high 1:29's/low 1:30s. I got a couple of hot laps this morning with the Viper running 1:30.991 & then 1:30.901. I just enjoy besting my own times & hoping for some good starting positions. It hasn't happens this week, but got a few pole positions last week at Sardegna.

I got my quali down to a 1:30.5 actually had a 1:30.4 but ran wide out of the last corner and got a track limits penalty. Was getting consistent 1:30.8-1:30.9 with the AMG.

I’m not worried about it, I just think it’d be cool to know how fast the best guys in the world are going with a DS4.

Really want to do race C this week but just getting the game, I’m gonna have to grind to get enough CR to buy a Gr.1 car.

I’d say Gr.3 cars are my favourite to race, it sucks this week is Gr.4 race A and have to use fwd so really going to try and get a good Gr.1 car for le mans

you are supposed to leave acar space you didn't and irl you Wouldn't do that with your real car witch you pay 4 your damages so yes way to aggressive at my opinion

It's possible. I did pretty much the same thing back in june, when I got the game and this event was up. What I did was just getting the Circuit Experience and Missions done - they're fairly easy and rewarding money-wise, you can get up to 300.000 credits on some. I had the 3 million for a brand new 919 by friday, I believe. Than the RNGeesus gave me the R18 on saturday :dunce::dunce::dunce:.

With slow reaction times brought on by my advanced years (they were never that quick to begin with) and lack of a wheel/pedal set, the Gr.1 cars aren't really a practical option.

I don't think it's just your reaction times. Gr.1 cars do some weird stuff on the DS4 IMO.

I am usually with 1%-ish off the top 10 times depending on how much practice time I have. In the Daily C Gr.1 I'm currently 4% off.

Compared to a top 10 ghost I cannot brake as quickly, regardless of BB, how I downshift or how I apply the brakes. They brake later and stop quicker. I cannot accelerate as quickly, this I think is a function of throttle technique on corner exit. Crucially, I also cannot corner as quickly as the aero seems to detach somehow. This shows itself most obviously in places like the Porsche curves as the car "wriggles" with a continuous steering input. Not sure whether this is also a function on the stick used for steering effectively having a variable rack which changes steering angle for a constant input relative to speed etc. It's also evident in every chicane. It is very difficult to carve smooth lines and balance the car. In short: horrible.

All that adds up to 7 seconds around La Sarthe in something like the Alpine VGT, which is an eternity.

I'm going to try some other cars to see if I can home in on the ideal car for me in Gr.1, which is unlikely to be the fastest ones on the leaderboard. Using a hybrid car gives a hilarious torque steer effect as you can't choose when to deploy the hybrid so it just tries to drag you off into the undergrowth. This is not a good combo for me with the DS4!

Really? I got a 12 pack of cars for free when I first started the game. A couple of them were Gr.1. I think Audi and Mazda.
I assumed it was like that for everybody starting the game.

Lol well apparently not, I know I can get enough CR through GT League but I dread those races, there so boring it’s literally just cruising around a track for x amount of laps.

Anyone know which GT league race will give me the most bang for my buck?

Also agree the DS4 with a Gr.1 car isn’t going to be easy but that’s more the reason to try, practice and improve. I find with the DS4 you get much better braking when your feathering the brakes between 1/2 and 3/4 as oppose to just slamming them, same with throttle control out of corners. Seems to be working for me and I’d say I’m fairly competitive against people with wheels; last week anyway haha

Well I'll let you know later if it's your supreme skill or a physics change that's brought about the improvement! I was 3:22.5 last time out in the Alpine but felt I could have gone quicker and focused on the Toyota once I started racing. I do tend to do well at La Sarthe.

Also like your videos a lot mate, very helpful. Up there with David Perel's lap guides 👍
I think it was 10% skill, 90% luck for me.
I was able to shave off a bunch of time in the Porsche curves. When using the Alpine VGT and approaching there, you have to use some braking. If I braked too hard, the front brakes would lock up, and if I turned immediately after, the car would suddenly have insane grip and steer way too much into the grass/gravel.

Thank you!!! :O:D

I prefer them to David Perel's. His are amazing for general race craft but @Mistah_MCA are much more detailed for brake points, gears and track stuff.
Both are very good to learn from.
Thank you, my friend! :D:bowdown:

360 on the finish line or I will downvote the video.;)
Bro. I hit my peak on Circuit de la Sarthe, so I'll do it on Nordschleife. That one, I can probably improve a tiny bit more, so I can squeeze in a 360 no-scope.
