Man. I am enjoying race B, kind of. There has been some good racing and I was making solid times and laps in the Vette. Able to catch people and look for passes, but this is for sure a full contact race. I've been hit just about everywhere on the lap except the start finish straight. I've initiated some contact as payback, but usually I'm too far back afterwards to even bother.

Again, despite all that there has been some good racing out there. Seen @pennanton and @05XR8 in there. Thinking I'll try some other cars, but I definitely have speed in the Vette, just need to find a way to avoid the danger rangers. Not interested in Suzuka even though I could use the practice. Might have to give race A a try. It'll at least give me a better chance to recover from the inevitable lap 1 contact.

C'mon PD. Fix this super short race B nonsense.

Yeah. Race B is the cup of coffee you need, if you don't drink coffee.

Vantage, R8, M6. Droppped my time from high 9 to a mid-8. Still left me mid-pack. A couple of lag incidents saw me get pinged by someone and I pinged someone on the last lap.
Racing definitely is all contact and fierce. Not despiration fierce, just super fast. If this were Race C, I'd probably lose a few kilos with the workout.

To add, the usual racers are back. Seems like a long while since I consistently had a grid of players that I can predict how they'll race(some with courtesy, others hard racers, fair, etc).

So I've found an example of my problem. Strange behaviour, old mate here doesn't seem to understand there's more to life than Gran Turismo Sport 9:10pm Daily Race B

In other news, as you can see on the lap time chart it's entirely possible to run 27.4s in the Citroen. This will get you in the top 5 in an Asia/Oceania DR A lobby. You don't have to use the Corvette and Supra all the time.

I decided to give Daily Race A a go since I find the car selection to be interesting like I never tried using a S chassis in a Daily Race before. Did like 4 sessions (supposed to be five but one of the sessions I got DC'd sadly and it was too bad since @Barra333 was in it and he's doing a good job).

First session - I wasn't too sure on what the right car since I never saw any vids or something like that are related to Daily Race A so you could say I was playing it blind for my first session. My instincts told me to go for the 180SX since it's more modern than the S13 Silvia but my instincts were wrong as I was blown away by the S13 Silvias in the straight line/high speed portions of DT Gardens. Started P9 then managed to finish at least in P7 thanks to two drivers screwing it up on the last corner of the last lap.

Second session - So now that I learned that the S13 is the go to car I went for that car in this session and similar to yesterday, I used this opportunity to get used on how the S13 performs. Started P5 after improving my previous time from a high 1:57 to a mid 1:56 then after the race I managed to finish P3 after having a decent battle with a fellow S13 user but this race wasn't clean as some dudes had their gloves off.

Third session - This is where things got dirty. Some dude decided it was a good idea to do a shady pass and I tried to keep my cool to avoid being aggressive and cooler heads prevail but at the cost of getting a win. Started P3 and finished in P4. From there I decided to keep an eye out for that user.

Fourth and last session for today - I finally got a well deserved win in this one and a good battle for P1 as well. I improved my time from a mid 1:56 to a low 1:55. Started P2 and was in a treat for a good race. The first two laps were just all about me and the pole sitter but the pole sitter got a .5 time penalty for a track limit breach and things got interesting from there. Managed to take advantage of that penalty and took the lead from the pole sitter and from there we were just trading places until the last lap where the user in third managed to gain onto us and it became a three way battle for P1 and at the last corner, things got a bit oofy but managed to get a win from there. I did apologize to the pole sitter for making him go wide in the last corner of the last lap and he was alright with it. I do have to say that there's this lone 180SX user and I was just like giving him a salute for being the lone 180SX user for the race I'm in.

Here's how the race went.

Put in a few laps yesterday at St. Croix and got a 2:07.1 quite quickly, with more time on the optimum if I get turn 1 and the hairpin at the end of the straight right. Did one race and the problem I have seems to be not having a clue where to brake when I'm following someone. What a week awaits.

For race B, I dont know who crapped in their breakfast this morning, but jesus everyone is running everyone else off the road. Even wil A+/A lobbies. If u arent top 4, it’s pretty much the thunderdome

I assumed that was where you went. Your name only clicked in my head at the last minute before the race start after you tagged me. Saw that you went 10th to 5th on lap one, then I got a shortcut penalty at the chicane and was concentrating on not losing the lead for a bit and noticed you were gone.
There is something about this track that clicks with my driving style - I started on pole in all 4 races I did last night, and managed to win three of them (came 2nd in my first race). My first clean qualifying lap was a 1:55.6, but after watching @Tidgney's guide, I realised I was trying too hard in a couple of places and immediately got a 1:55.0, which right now stands at 41st out of about 1400 in Asia. There is a fine line between straddling the sausages in the chicane for the lap time and getting a penalty or getting launched on to two wheels. Have to work on my consistency there - I still have a few tenths to find.

Looking back it felt like a blessing in disguise for that disconnect because it gave the times I need to reach in other to get better starting positions.

I do look forward to racing with you again without running into a disconnection.

Just looked up your time on GTBlade - yeah, that should get you decent starting positions. Should be a good race if we manage to cross paths again this week. Though I do have that massive 0.050 qualifying gap on you

Been running race C from the back and having fun. Looks like I've finally got the bridge so lets see what happens. Yeah about a minute behind no point even trying. Going to put a slow lap time in.

Haven't gotten a chance to check out the dailies yet this week, but will most likely be hanging out in Race C, love Suzuka.

Not a fan of FF or 4WD, which MR/FR cars are working here? Looks like there is no tire requirement, but I doubt a no stop is possible with 8x wear, or is it?

Been seeing so much of this type of driving lately. And plenty of moving over once you are alongside as well. After testing some different cars in time trial I might stick with the vette as it is big enough to take a lot of those bumps and I still seem to be able to keep up with entry of people.

Now to figure out those damn esses before the bridge. I seem to get them right about every 4th lap.

Depends on your level, B and below will have some stoppers and most MRs seem to be workable. I'm using the GT-R, front tyres are about 20% by the end but still faster than stopping. Tried other cars (don't do well with MRs) 4WD and FR and they all start slipping too much at the end for me. I can drive the Slophy, but refuse on moral grounds.

Thanks. I'm barely hanging on to A (~31k DR at the moment). Think I'll try the Mustang to start, maybe the 458? Never got alon g well with the GT-R, but maybe I'll give that a shot as well.

Also, pardon my ignorance, but what in the world is the Slophy? I see it referenced here all the time and have no clue which car it is. The Magane Trophy? Have never used that car, is it any good?

Slophy = Megane Trophy

Not sure how it got the nickname, as it's been the META more than most other cars in the game! Fantastic balance, really fast once you get used to the gearing, IMO.

Thank you! That's what I thought but wasn't sure. Name didn't really make sense to me.

Really prefer RWD, but maybe I'll give it a shot.

Slophy I think cos it's slow??? Top speed anyway, it handles really well more like a FR car than most of the MR tail happy lot. Also it's really good on tyres.

Your quandary has intrigued me. I'll have to do some offline time trials with BoP applied in order to help figure this out. Looks like you've got a 2:07.921 right now. I'll report back.

Early report: I suck at this track.

Finally did a last (17/18) to first, admittedly I cheated by dropping my account down to D/S so I can practice overtaking as I always struggle to do that. It's easier because they are slow, but I really have to be careful to be clean. Total gentleman racing, giving places back (well I would if I had made a mistake, but so far only 1 hit that I could even take 50% of the blame) and not even ramming the dirty drivers off the road. OH well will be at C soon and no chance of doing that unless everyone pits, but going to keep trying to improve and it's fun.

Oh, I know what I'm SUPPPOSED to do. But doing it is something I can't seem to nail consistently. Miss entry by 1 meter and it's all off from there

Even if I miss by a meter, you need those practice laps in order to forget that error & know what the track has up next in order to prepare for that. I've made errors before but just focused on the next corner in order to gain back, sometimes by a competitor focusing on me behind them & they make a bigger mistake.

I suppose to help you figure the esses out is ask, what is your path through them for you current best time? Better yet, what do you make the error on that loses you momentum?

I just have trouble with my turn in point for the start. If I nail that I've got it smooth, but I have yet to find a good marker to use in order to nail it.

Decided to try Race C again but with a Honda (felt good in a Custom Race). Got disconnected on L4 (I think).

And my first thought was, good now I don't have to do the rest. Guess that's a sign I'm not that into it.

There's a few in a similar position on the left that you can use - 2nd bilboard from the end, orange barrier marking, start of the green kerb, start of the red/white kerb

@Tidgney covered this one in his lap guide.

My version of it - slow is better for fast exit:
  • Slight lift on entry to hug the right curb.
  • Maintain near full but not full throttle.
  • Tiny braking and downshift to 4th as you hug the left curb... need to be to the left on exit.
  • Brake hard and down to 3rd at the darker patch... and as soon as possible apply minimal throttle to settle the back end due to the hump at bridge entry... @Tidgney explains why. This allows for the fastest possible exit onto the bridge.
I am using the GT-R. I am at 2:08.4 so and still have some work to do. My goal is sub 2:08.

After a long hiatus from Group 3 I have ventured back in. They nerfed my favored Gr 4 FF cars - again. I need to learn to drive real cars.

EDIT: I post saw your SUPPOSED comment. Re: markers. I turned on "Line Markers" (not the cones). It gives you a nice visual blue halo as reference point. I am lifting and turning a few meters before the halo.
