I agree. When I heard that the story mode part was only about 7 hours long I was quite disappointed. Luckily there are plenty of achievements that will make the game last for easily a few days. 53,000 zombies is going to take a while to kill. :sly: Plus there is the achievement for staying alive for 5 amd 7 days. This game will still take a few days to beat since you will basically have to go thru it a couple times to get all of the achievements. 👍
Wouldn't you get bored of hacking zombies after 20 real hours?

I was bored of hacking zombies after an hour...and the photo system was really weak, it works on what subjects are on screen, and how "centered" they are...as a photographer it bothers me :(

Reporters, need the center part on there subjects, also how can you get bored of Dead Rising after an hour?

From what I read, and played for a while, they're more of obstacle at times and that the real bosses are other survivors.

It's almost ironic how the survivalists fight to survive each other rather than the zombies.

That doesn't make sense.
Well, they're not exactly normal either. Let's just say some of them have gone insane, but aren't exactly zombies. In short, you gotta survive both.

Just read GameSpot Guide if you want (has spoilers obviously), and it really shows some surprising things.

No, reporters don't need the "center part" on their subjects, that is amatuer photography.

Photojournalism requires you to capture the subject, as well as the "scene". Thus, the rule of thirds comes greatly into play, as does other objects in the photo, as well as distractions etc.

What is represented in Dead Rising is a feature just for the sake of having a feature, as it isn't fleshed out at all.

Also, it wasn't difficult getting bored of Dead Rising after an hour, considering all of the zombies are very easy, and the "thrill" of killing them with a new weapon lasts about 5-10 seconds...then it's just hack and slash again.

Though the game looks amazing.

Maybe you can unlock higher difficulties, but I am still not bored of the demo at all. And if you have played it for an hour only, then maybe you're yet to face the harder zombies?

I believe the harder bosses are what you still need to encounter for it to get harder.

I believe the harder bosses are what you still need to encounter for it to get harder.

Some how, with only 6 hours of true gampley, and everything else being a "waste your time killing mindless zombie's" I find it hard to believe that anything slightly above the difficulty of the abundance of enemies is going to change my mind about this game, lol.

It looks good, provides a good rental entertainment experience, but I won't buy it, nor consider buying it.

Not saying it's a bad game, just not my bag of chips :)

Ok here is my follow up after playing the official game for about 5 hours yesterday. First I want to reassure you that no one beat this game in 3 hours. NO WAY IN HELL. Whoever said that is full of crap. This game is in no way easy. Like you have read in reviews the save system really makes the game challenging. If you save with little health and no weapons the chances of you surviving IS almost impossible without luck. You also do not want to approach main enemies unless you have full health, weapons, and food on back up. You will get owned. Also to defeat certain main enemies your character level must be high enough or again you will die almost instantly. I screwed myself last night and saved with no weapons and only 2 bars of health right before a main enemy. I dont think I was supposed to even be near this enemy yet so I really need to back track. However as soon as I leave my save point I am consumed with zombies with almost no way to survive. It is beyond frustrating but its my own fault. I should have never saved with that low of energy and now weapons.
Even if you beat the 72 hour mode you will still spend many many days trying to get the achievements. Those that think this is a short game are highly mistaken.
Asside from my own mistakes I absolutely love this game and everythign about it. The saves are frustrating at times but its really no different from Grand theft auto or other resident evil games. Just learn where the saves are at and get familiar with the mall then the rest is zombie killing like crazy. Especially at night. They develop a different attitude and they become more challenging.
The graphics are very good especially when you blow up welding tanks or propane tanks. I really liked the area with the roller coaster. I spent more time last night screwing around and just walking around. The next time I play I will concentrate more on rasing my character level and try to beat some of the main enemies.
If you have any questions I can try to answer them. Driftgod will be on later to probably give his own review or add to mine. Great game and like I said it would take you a very long time to get all of the achievements. The 53,594 zombie kill will take FOREVER!!!! :)

So far... I've seen no 360 games that are short.

MdnIte
What kind of boss zombies are there?
I havent seen all of them but if you go to gametrailers and look for the "webisodes" it shows most of the enemies. Some psychopath clowns, sniper family, a really tough psycho with a massive meat cleaver and several other enemies that shoot at you. They arent zombies just crazy people.

The creator of Dead Rising says it's possible to beat the game in 3 hours, but the only way that can be done, is if you rush the game.

Where did he say that? Even if someone did go thru the 72 hour mode in 3 hours (which is almost impossible IMO) it would still take real life days to get all the other achievements. The 72 hour mode is only the beginning of the game.

Yep, that's why I thought it was ironic that survivors are fighting each other (even if the survivors have gone insane).

But the GameSpot Guide is confusing as hell. 1st it says Isabella tries to kill you, then you help her....wierd.

I'm talking about the main game with out the achievements. But McLaren I think they say that, because you will become her friend later on in the game.

I thought zombies would respawn....

Anyways, BB says the game is released tomorrow (num nuts :p), but since I'm putting a call in tomorrow morning, I'll have a copy reserved for me for rental.

They said a bunch of people have been asking for it, and they'll have to move the X360 games onto a 2nd shelf tonight.

Mr Deap
I wanted to buy that game today.

Conclusion, sold out everywhere...
I know what you mean. I'm surprised at how large the fanbase was for a game that is uncommonly talked about.

This pretty much describes my thoughts on dead rising:

Kill zombies, get clothes, escort countless amounts of survivors to strange places, repeat for 6 hours with occasional boss fights, and eventually, beat game. But it's still an amazing looking game...I love the motion blur to death, lol.

i beat it last night but i didnt get the true ending because "brad" got killed.

when you get to 72 hours the game goes to a cut-scene and you get in the hellicoptor so i got the 3 day achievement, i think the 5 & 7 day achievements are for survival mode.

i cant wait to play again because when you finish the game you can start over but you keep your stats from the previous game, so instead of starting out at level 1 i will be starting the game at level 15 ;)

overall i give this game at least a 9.5, it really is a great game 👍

The 5 and 7 days thing is indeed part of the survival, plus the survival mode is where the leader boards come into full play.

That is great news to hear your stats roll over from the previous game. I am just going around right now getting achievements for this first game. After that I will go back thru and try to get the true ending.
Do you actually have to be at the helipad when the time runs out or just walking around the mall and it will automatically go to a cut scene?
I wont be able to play until saturday night since we will have Heathers nieces over and I dont think this is a game they should see me playing since they are 6 and 8.
I still love this game and cant wait to play some more. It will definetly keep me busy for at least another week or two.
I noticed the zombies respawn in the 72 hour mode. Do they respawn in the survival mode? If they do then you could kill way more than 53,000 kills but it would still take a while.
