Nations 6pm UK lobby disconnected.
Did 6.10pm Manu, and on the final straight last lap a French driver in a Megane slowed down to take penalty, then swerved to knock me off as I passed. Almost lost position to the guy behind. Luckily reported before he left, but what a sore loser.

Still getting to grips with tyre model for brands, almost had pole and went off at Westfield which I haven't done for a long time, so very inconsistent at the moment.

Just did my first one of these at Brands Hatch. Finished 13th. My SR went up so I'm going to be even worse the next time around. Fabulous.

13th at Dragon Trail. Going up in the world.

What's up with the Sarthe like track limits at Gardens? Barely touching the curbs at the chicanes gives you a penalty.

Ok in the Nations cup (1046 points conquered :)), orrible at the Man. series (lots of contacts there :odd:)
I was in the same nations cup race (Green Audi), some of the blocking in qualifying was terrible. I had one guy ahead going slowly as a ghost but accelerated just in time to block me at the apex of Hawthorn Bend. The race was cool though, jumped a few cars by stopping a lap early and hung on until the end on destroyed tyres.

2737 Points soured by the fact that I bumped @mthomas_95 like a moron when he ended up in front of me on a 2 stop strategy :(

Didn't quite match the stupidity of my last lap in quali which I choked and would've meant I'd have been Top 3 easily and been on a normal strategy rather than doing a suicidal 2 stop to get out the back of the train I ended up in (lost nothing really in the end the gaps behind were so big). You gave it a good go though

Terrible race for a group of half S/S, half A/S. Got pushed 4 times and punted into a spin that ruin my race. I was dead last and had to try something different with a two stopper but sadly I made it only to 15th.

Blue screened out of Nations during qualifying, great start. #2 seed in an 1800 point room as well.

EDIT: PD seem to have taken mercy on me and are letting me enter again later.

EDIT AGAIN: No they didn’t. I was allowed to enter the 2nd slot it seems but not anything else later.

It does seem like the whole lobby crashed anyway

Congrats for the nice two second places, a very good start into the season I think

Sad from your point of view to lose the victory in Manu, but I was really surprised about Oscaro Mansons risky but succsessful move with not changing tires.

My Nations race is called "The remontada" ! Qualified in a poor 20th place, I managed to finish 7th :sly: So glad of this race, even though I would have been able to battle in front. Still in for the 3 French slots :mischievous:

The manufacturer race with the Honda was good, the strong pace of that car allow me to battle at front easily. Started P2, and finish at the same place, while Snake ahead of me with a better strategy. Good result, but still 3rd Honda driver :nervous:

Pretty pants manufacturer race - 7th on grid, got passed (and nudged twice) by a faster starting car, got held up behind them as they sucked at corners then got arseholed by a fleet of morons. Sideswiped by an Evo off the inside of Club Corners, got me a 4s penalty for my trouble and ended up 12th...

... on lap 6. I figured enough was enough and jumped into the pits. Came out 18th in clear air and got some proper laptimes in so by the time everyone else had pitted, 4th. Had to scrub the penalty at the end and finished 5th, for decent (for me) points.

Didn't want to do Brands in Gr.3s. I don't like Gr.3 or higher. Qualified 4th, came 2nd, never more than 3.6s from the winner (1.4 at the end) and had a decent little encounter with him (madmansam1). First 1,000pt race for me, that.

I think it's become a MR/4WD meta again. The SLS Gr.4 (which is FR) handles horrendously in this new tyre model. The understeer in normal circumstances makes you want to chuck it into the corner, but that just makes matters worse. Braking makes for a regular slidey boi and fuel economy is still absolutely rubbish (Hondas passing me in the pits left right and centre :().

MR cars have the upper hand for this update because they can dart about a bit easier than other drivetrains, with less weight on the fronts, and thus better tyre wear. Plus that tad more weight on the rears helps with the traction coming out of corners.

4WD cars tend to always pack a tough turbo, so they can boost out of corners without worrying about spinning out. Their ability to easily be pushed and give superb stability in technical corners kinda outweighs the tyre wear if you can get used to that style of driving.

Changes that need to be made in Gr.4 - In short:
MRs now need to be slightly heavier (Megane is fine for now, perhaps another weight increase along with a power increase too)
FRs (also goes for some Gr.3 racers) need to be somewhat lighter to make up for the killer understeer (+ fuel improvement for some cases)
4WDs are ok I think for now, maybe some fine tuning.
FWDs need to be either a bit lighter/more powerful and the tyre wear multiplier needs to be put down a lot.
RRs (The Cayman) needs proper gearing (and fuel consumption multiplier reduced a tad)

This is just my thinking. Make of it what you want. :)

Interesting to hear about the SLS, isn't that the only FR car having issues, or is it more wide spread? I actually don't know much about group 4 having only driven a handful of them. Does anyone know how tyre wear is calculated? Or at least have an idea? As in is it the tyre model that decides the amount of tyre wear for a car or does the car actually have some form of multiplier?

Was a good start for me also, about 1300 pts in Nations and 1200 in Manu with my porsche. I have the feeling the cayman is underrestimated a little. My feeling was that I could hold on in the straights to the other cars. But the acceleration seems to be weak.

Unfortunately in the last 2 laps of Manu things started to get ugly, and enough was enough and I defended myself. But at the costs of losing SR points from 99 to 77...

Need to do daylies now to recover until saturday

All cars have the same tire wear multiplier. What makes the difference is how much the car weights, and what the weight distribution is. So for the most part the heavier the car the worse it tire wear is.

I only did DTG, cant say I particularly enjoy racing on this track. Seems to bunch up all the time, then gets a bit pushy. Didn’t match my practice pace, but here just trying to keep out of the way of others battling else you end up getting caught in it. So just sat behind saving fuel so pretty uninspiring race overall.

Manufacturer - Dragon Tail Gardens - Viper Gr. 4

I swear, this new tire model thing screwed me over because the understeer on the Viper Gr. 4 is insane. I had to slow down to a crawl to make a turn.
17th > 16th place for 361 points.
At least I got points, I guess. Hopefully the next race has a better outcome.

Nations Cup went alright for me after a shoddy end to the previous season

felt a bit slow practicing but inexplicably put it on pole by a whisker, which was pretty pleasing. led the first 10 laps by less than a second from the car behind, got a bit close a couple of times but was holding on ok. got jumped by two people in the pit stop phase and the three of us completed the race pretty much nose to tail, last couple of laps only had a second covering the podium places. finished 3rd in the end, would have taken it before the race but slightly annoying given i led over half the race to not win. but a decent start to the season nonetheless, c.500 points on the board for me.

didn't go anywhere near the Manufacturers Cup race, have a shocking record round that track and all i heard in the buildup was people getting annoyed by the track limits, so stayed well away from that one.

Not a bad start then

Worst FIA race ever today at Manufacturer's. Creme de la creme of the Americas in my lobby. Things start to go wrong during qualifying when someone decides to break and wait for my car (he wanted the slipstream) in the middle of the last corner, forcing me to touch the curb and get a penalty, ruining my only chance of a lap with low fuel. Was at p12 during one point but my group of adversaries was driving extremely aggressive and one idiot went psycho and decided to ruin my race driving like a kamikaze and taking me out of the road three times.

I used to like Dragon Trail Gardens, but the track limits are way too strict now. This track is now a nightmare at highly competitive races. Almost everyone had a penalty in the end.

Another nations of what could have been in a strong A+/S field.
With a relatively slow qualy with a 24.5 I started 7th. By lap 4 i was up to 5th. Finally got a bit of free track ahead and started to push. Caught 4th (TE something) but there's something about the way Z28 puts the pressure on when behind that gets the best of me. Made a stupid mistake and spun dropped back to 13th. After the pit I was 15th or 16th. Made way back up to 12th with good pace.
