From what I'm seeing, both Nations and Manufacturers are going to be decided both on strategy and fighting the track more than the competition. My good tire management is making me lean toward less stops overall. There is obviously the greater risk of mistakes on old tires but the alternative is having to push on new rubber at tracks where doing so can also lead to a major off. Also, the mix of strategies means dealing with traffic and neither circuit is ideal to overtake without losing the advantage gained with extra stops.

Probably the biggest pro tip for both races is that not binning it could be all you need for a good result. Maybe. Also, qualify well which I know I'll screw up like I always do.
 
Used my strategy from The Daily Gr.3 race. Just drive smoothly. Preserve tyres.

Would have been further up if, the Huracan in front of me didn't spin on the grass and hit me... and hit me again... and spun and hit me into the barriers before the Penalty Zone.

The standing start is awesome. Wish all the Gr.4 races and some Gr.3 races were the same.
Anyway, drove smoothly, making sure to keep grip and not slide. Everyone pushing on those RMs, were fading behind and coming back to me. One RM user pitted on the same lap as me(Lap 5). One player on RM pitted Lap 6. I passed tone car after my pit stop and three cars on the last two laps.

If it can help give you an idea on tire wear, here is me chasing you for 7 laps (I could not for the love of me find a way around you) you can gauge my tire wear vs yours at the times and etc.

Haha, my hard tires slowed us down. Thanks for the patience! Must do two stints on medium tonight definitely.
 
Second attempt was two penalties for I don't know what. More points though. Had a battle for 2nd, most of the race, until the PZ.

Finished 7th in Nations, was a decent result going from 10th to 5th off the standing start thanks to traction control and a bit of luck. Definitely underutilized in sport mode.

Was pushed off in turn 1 with the player on the inside having the front of his car alongside my rear wheels when I turned in. Returned the favour at 130R.

Definitely a race for the wheel users with the smoothest inputs (even moreso than usual).
 
Okay so I need a little bit of advice for tonight's Nations Cup race.

I had a complete disaster with the Alfa Romeo 4C at Willow Springs round as I really was not used to the car with the steering
aids disabled and ended up throwing it all over the track, I see from pre-race practice time's the 4C is meta again so what car should
I pick to be on par with the 4C.

Any tips before racing slots would be useful!
 
Don't think any car will be on par with the 4c, it's tyre wear advantage is too strong at the moment and it is very strong at Suzuka due to the first and second sectors. You could try the Cayman, Audi TT, VW Scirocco, BMW M4 or the Huaracan, but all will struggle against the 4C towards the end of the stint.

4C, Renault Megane Trophy and Toyota 86 can all just about no stop - so that is the cars you will see the most of, even if I think pitting is the best for this race. At the end of the race the no stoppers were losing about 3-4 secs a lap from what I could see last night. Think it is pretty close between pitting and not though, but only for the 3 cars mentioned.
 
I made two attempts at Nations/Suzuka:

First one, qualified 12th and got caught out by a grid start which did not require holding the brake ><
Dropped back, and my plan to one stop on hard tyres turned out to br a poor choice as I was harassed constantly and shoved off more than once. Ended 15th and lost 1000 DR.

On the do-over I couldn't get a clean qually lap in, so started 18th. However I knew the start procedure this time and I guess others didn't, so I was in 10th by the first corner. I also changed my plan and aimed for a long stint on hard tyres and a short stint on mediums, hopefully without any need for refuelling as the M4 made it pretty easy to fuel save. I was running really well until about the half way point, then started to take repeated bumps from aggressive opponents. Every contact saw them lumped with penalties while I got off safely - then coming into Spoon a couple of people hit me in quick succession. They both got 3 second penalties, I ran wide - coming back on track I contacted someone else and this time I got a 5 second penalty. Dropped right to the back, pitted with the penalty still to serve. On my medium tyre stint I was chasing down 16th when I guess more people ran off and I ended up coming home in 13th. Scored too low to have any effect on my season results. I also lost further DR. Need to review the replay to see exactly what happened.

I'm sure I have a better result in me but random factors played too big a role in the first two attempts, and I can't really be bothered going through the ringer again tonight. This is my first FIA season attempt so I'm viewing it as a test. If my DR sinks any further my scoring potential is gonna be pathetic.

The megane trophy, huracan and evo should all be quick around Suzuka and a bit safer than the 4c.
You can make the Alfa safer by running -3 BB if that helps, but it will be a bit faster closer to 0.
 
I'm about to try the Huracan at Suzuka too.

The top 10 leaderboard for Brands Hatch currently has ten different cars in it. I don't think I've ever seen that.

Just to make this clear: If i use mediums in qualifying i´ll start with mediums in the race? Is this right?
What if i start the qualifying on hard tires and switch to mediums after one lap?
Or if i chose mediums for the beginning and switch to hard tires 1 min before the qualifying ends?

After qualifying has ended you can go into the car settings and change the tyres to whatever you want, and that's what you will start the race on.

If you don't change them you'll start on whatever you started qualifying on I think.

I will go with the porsche , i'm not faster with the 4C , just perhaps insisting during a long time but i'm a lot more regular with the porsche or even Lambo. Porsche have better tire wear than the 4WD.
I think i don't have the skills to be fast and regular with the 4C , just like for the GR3 and Audi .....

I put up my best time in the Scirocco. Depends on how much experience you have with the FF cars though. Tear wear on it will be pretty rough though. It's worth trying out if you have time to put some practice in.

I tried a no stopper on mediums (in the 4C) - came 4th, but if I was a better and more consistent driver, I would have won!
 
8th for 788 points at Suzuka in the Huracan. 5/4 laps, Hard/Medium. I had reasonable pace with the cars around me in the first stint, I think everyone else was on mediums but since I'm on DS4 I couldn't make that work. Quite proud of that performance actually.
 
Decided to be silly and try the Audi TT for the Nations at Suzuka and it kinda worked. Qualified in 2nd, but didn't realise it was a grid start, and FF cars are garbage at that. I was down to 6th by the end of the 1st corner. Then got gently lunged at into Dunlop and I was down to 8th. Managed to get 1 place back in the Degners when someone ran wide, and lunged at the nudger into the hairpin and got back up to 6th.

Then spent a few laps chasing down the guys ahead and managed to pick off a couple of people using the superior straight line speed of the Audi. Pitted at the end of lap 5, and that dropped me down to 10th. But with the much superior tyres I had I was able to work my way back up through to 4th. 1st no stopped and was a long way away from me, but I was 1st of the non-4c runners. Didn't think I could get more points even if I did use the Alfa.



Not sure about my tactics in the Manufacturers race. It was very tight in qualifying with only 0.25 secs between 4th(me) and 12th so knew it was going to be tough. Was a sensible first few corners, but had a guy harassing me for the 1st couple of laps, until I made a slight mistake and he got by. I was going to 2 stop, but changed my mind and just did one on lap 7. Unfortunately my fast laps after the stop were slightly blocked by a couple of guys on different strategies, so lost a couple of seconds. Not sure it really mattered but I ended up under loads of pressure from about lap 12 and while I did a decent job defending eventually 3 guys managed to find a way past. My tyres were the worst of anyone at the end, so maybe a 2 stop would have worked better, but was a really good race against very fair drivers.

I think it's getting late in the season, because Suzuka became a complete penalty fest.

I made the mistake of trying my Atenza anyway, and over the course of the race got 9s of penalty for being hit. Then all the cars with penalties were serving them in a bunch on the climb to 130R (while I made the mistake of pulling over to the left with my hazards on before serving it). Then I got run into the pit wall by a guy on the finish line who told me "you started 3 laps ago"... while I was in the pits?

Just nobbery. And the Alfas can no-stop on mediums - the Atenza can't do five laps on hards. Eventually got a 5th in the 86GT, though the guy in third was battering everyone and whining about it in after-race chat.

After this I did Manufacturers… I wasn't expecting much since I hate Brands Hatch. Started 14th out of 18. Two-stopped on mediums since I saw part of someone's post here saying that might be a thing to do and since I was going to be nowhere on hards. Lucked into being in 14th with two laps to go with four cars in front of me all fighting. Managed to get past three of them, went for a pass on a McLaren at the right hander at the end of the back straight. He turned into me, went off, I got 2 seconds of penalties. He ended up 15th, poor thing. I ended up in 11th after the penalty and, well, I didn't expect anything positive to have happened after my great Nations race. Just had a check of KP and my SR is back to 99, my DR is the second highest it's ever been (25.6k). What a time.
 
3rd place at Suzuka for me tonight. It was a B lobby so only 797 points and only increased my championship points by 52. Good enough to break the tie I was in though I hope.

My first attempt was disastrous, last place among people who did not DNF. Mind you, I was 20 seconds behind as I spun lap 1 and could not get back on track. I ended up catching the back pack and finished less than a 10th behind the guy ahead of me.

So, good practice race. I switched from the 86 to the Scirocco for my next attempt.

Much better, qualified 3rd, dropped to 6th but came back and finished 3rd. I was lucky to get 3rd though, 2nd place bined it on the last lap, I got a .5 sec penalty cutting to avoid him so on the last straight I underestimated how quick my penalty was, so I geared down when I shouldnt have and just made my penalty worse. Didn't matter in the end though, I was well ahead.

I figured I was lucky to walk away with any points from Suzuka so that was it, I'll take the 52 extra championship points and see what the rest of the season brings. I typically do well in N class races so I'm looking forward to saturday.
 
After a medium 9th place in Nation with a porsche that needed a pit stop , a very good manufacturer with the AMG ,i started 3rd and i was lucky to not make any mistake during the 15 laps. After taking the lead the 2d place a porsche put a lot of pressure but the mercedes is very easy and fast on Brands hatch and i stay in front till the line with 0.300 seconds ahead. Lot of fun today.

Today was all about saving tyres in both races.

Did nations once, Good qualy and a safe and cautious pace to save tyres. It worked out well for me.




Manu once as well. Decent qualy. Went for the 1 stopper because of the traffic, I don't think it was the optimal strategy but I got a great result.
