I'm still processing videos for the Saturday races when I noticed something interesting. North America actually had a faster Nations total race time than Europe and yet, no one here got a chance to do Top 16 Manufacturer's while a lot in Europe did. Out of sheer curiosity, I wanted to find out how that happened. I used @Tidgney's stream as a reference.
When I tried to get into the T16 Manufacturer's Slot, I instead entered the 5:10 pm (local time) slot. My "Until Entry Deadline" timer read 09:52. Therefore, I had missed it by 8 seconds. For Tidgney, his "Until Entry Deadline" timer read 00:39. Conveniently, both of us had saved the replay which was only around 3~4 seconds lost so I can cancel that out. Since I missed the slot by 8 seconds and Tidgney made it with 39 seconds to spare, the time NA lost compared to Europe was roughly 47 seconds.
So where did Europe gain its time?
Total finishing time:
NA - 27:22.879
Europe - 27:29.422
Net loss of about 7 seconds
Time waiting for everyone to cross the line:
NA - Used all the time alloted
Europe - Last place crossed with 26 seconds left, setting the timer to zero
Net gain of 26 seconds
Qualifying:
Both - Used all the alloted time
No change
Initial Load Time:
Europe - Not calculated but ran Europe stream concurrently with NA stream and Europe finished loading first
NA - Continued loading for about 26~28 seconds after Europe had finished loading
Net gain of 28 seconds
In short, NA might've been able to make the Top 16 Manu had last place finished faster but I doubt that was feasible. As I had feared in the moment, the room took far too long to load and that pretty much doomed NA Nations drivers that wanted to do T16 Manu as well at that juncture. A bit of a pointless analysis but it was too interesting not to do. At least my math adds up... I think.
