Actually there is news on the Nations Cup format hidden away on the website;

https://www.gran-turismo.com/au/gtsport/fia2019/detail/

4 stages of 10 rounds, and each stage is a self-contained competition with the prize at the end being a World Tour invite. World Tour winners get an automatic berth at the World Final, with the remaining spots determined by online performance over the entire year. Very tough to qualify for a Tour though, and the unfortunate end of Regional Finals means that my loophole for getting a free holiday despite being a scrub is gone in Nations. I may have to find another way, be it Supra Cup or Manufacturers Series.

So that would make the first race this Saturday... Odd that no race details of this upcoming stage have been provided yet.

This is the grid i was talking about. PD set 6 D drivers in the field of A & S .
No intermediary B or C , The room falls from the normal +- 1500 to 1800points for the win to 790 for this race.
It happen two times with me this week.

Yeah... I remember laughing to my friend K3misCZ (in your picture) for this :-D I had similar ranking and I had twice as many points for 1st. Lets hope it wont happen regularly. Another reason why I am happy we can race one FIA race several times.

Weird that the manu cup says TBA...

"The best 1/4 rounds of the total for that stage..."
-After 10 rounds,(10/4=2.5, rounded up) the best 3 rounds will be tallied for the final score.
-After 40 rounds at the end of the 2019 Series, the competitors best 10 rounds will be tallied for the final score."

I find this worded funny.

Because our best 3 rounds over 4 stages is 12 scored rounds. So is "the competitors best 10 rounds" the 10 best of those 12 or is it our 10 best in general over 40 rounds? So say hypothetically one buys the game today, spends the first 3 stages ranking up to DR A+ they're 10 best rounds will likely be in the final stage since they were winning races in stages 1 but only score 100 points.

I think it’s 1/4 of 10, rounded up that’s 3. Then after 40 total rounds it’ll be your best 10.

As for your scenario, that would suck for anyone starting this off and not being near or at A+, although honestly it wouldn’t take more than a few races to get yourself up there is you’re consistently in the top 5 in both dailies and the FIA rounds, the good thing about FIA rounds is you’ll get globs of SR for finishing good.

I also noticed the section about multiple accounts.
My work PC blocks GT sport's site so I can't copy paste but basically using multiple accounts can get you disqualified.

I know a lot of people use them and use them openly. I recall one Youtuber from EMEA(I'll omit names in case it leads to further investigation) But this Youtuber was telling a story of a Canadian driver who had choice words for him after a race because the Youtuber beat him in a North American FIA Nations race. I fully agree with the Canadian Driver's anger towards him and the Youtuber just shrugged it off like the Canadian and no right to complain about it.

If you want to have multiple accounts for daily races fine, but stay out the FIA races. I suppose the exhibition seasons don't matter, which this particular case was I believe, but in these upcoming official seasons I really think this should not happen. Even if your just participating in the odd race here and there you are potentially stealing points from someone, you don't belong in that region. And these are the aliens I am talking about, these are people that have the potential to make the world finals. Obviously some B rated driver it doesn't matter but the A+ guys need to stop doing this.

If you're doing this please stop.

If this new format really confirms to be accurate, well, it's the end of any chances of going to world tours for me, at least on Nations cup.

3 spots for the whole latin american region (have in mind that the last 2 Nations Cup winners are from here, so that's 2 spots sorted, we will all be fighting virtually for one single spot).

I don't know why PD changed to this system. It will restrict participation of live events to only the top top tier drivers. There won't be too much variation for the drivers featuring the lan events. This will, undoubtedly, make players to lose interest on this cup.

The great thing about the regionals was that it gave chances to some that aren't yet at the top level to have a go in live events. In the end, the top tier drivers would still prevail. Now, all the events will have 80-90% of the same drivers.

Let's see how manufacturers will work. Very weird that this isnt openly on the website yet tho.

The main event should only be the top tier drivers. The regional finals are ditched with europe having the most depth by far so they get 16 and the other regions splitting up the previous 10 person quota.

Would you normally beat the 2 players who have already qualified from your region? If you're in their league you probably still have a good chance.

Maybe they'll introduce some local low key events for other players rather than staging regional finals or maybe they'll have a few country finals instead? Or both. Who knows.

The main event (finals) will always be about the top drivers. But if ALL events are only available for them, then it's not a good thing.

Just look at bigger esports games, they do give opportunities for smaller teams, even on major championships. With this new regulations, interest gonna drop massively.

I don't see this as a good idea looking at the future of GTS esports.

I think there is a good middle ground solution for this problem. Add a rule that out of the next four World Tour events, each player can only attend up to two of them. The elite players will still get a lot of love, but the limit would open up more opportunities as the season goes on for the rest of us. This could be good for the viewers too, as there would be many fresh faces to cheer for at every event, before the World Final brings all of the best back together once more.

Of course this solution doesn't factor in Manufacturers, but from a strictly Nations Cup standpoint I think it would enhance the World Tour for both the players and viewers.

Another tweak I would like to see is in regards to the host region wildcards. South America and Oceania are getting kind of screwed over by not having a World Tour stop in their home region, so the tweak I would make is that New York gives 1 extra spot each to North and South America, and Tokyo gives 1 spot each to Asia and Oceania. Yes, I am biased being an Australian but having only two spots available for all tours in our region is a bit restrictive don't you think?

Also the schedule they've posted could use some optimisation, there's a (too large) break in the schedule for World Tour Nurburgring but none for New York, as well as random gaps in the schedule where there shouldn't be (eg stage 1 round 8) and a non-gap where there should be (end of stage 1).

@VrapPlus Manufacturer series says TBA because they have yet to finalize the format and criteria for the world tour selection, there will be some changes mainly due to the 5 regions now instead of 3 last year, so official manufacturer series seasons should start a bit later (I suppose when nations stage 2 begins)

For those who speculate about a new circuit in the Nations Cup on 04/03, the race will happen at Autopolis

anyone able to switch manufacturers?
I can't change, even though this article on the GT website says we should be able to.

https://www.gran-turismo.com/us/gtsport/news/00_8751176.html

It will be possible for players to change their manufacturer's affiliation contract for this 2019 Season.

I think this is like what happened between the 2018 Exhibition and the 2019 Exhibition. We couldn't change our manufacturer until the day of the first round, if I remember correctly.

Brutal! Guess I’ll have to practice in open lobbies since I can’t in time trial mode

Apparently the placeholder combo for unannounced future FIA events is a 10-lap Gr.3 race at Northern Isle Speedway with 1X Fuel Consumption and 1X Tyre Degradation...
