Wait until you see how far the Toyota 86 Gr.4 can go on its tyres...

I don't want to imagine it. I'm literally going to have to do Medium-Medium-Medium if I want a shot at finishing in the midfield

Decided to do a little free practice for the manufacture's race with AT this morning to see how much time I would lose. Man...I could not get the Merc to rotate in turn 1, 2, and 90 at the bottom of the hill near the end, and the final turn. Only managed a best of 1:41:406 when I can do a high 1:39 with MT. Hopefully I can leave work early enough to catch the final race.

I'm a bit slower than normal currently since I'm still new to manual transmission, so I feel as if I'm better off running my own race. For the races so far I've used the harder compound to start then the softer (whether one or two stints) one, reasoning that I don't waste my good tyres fighting at the start when the field is close and I get to use them towards the end when I have less fuel and am faster.

All depends where you start, I prefer going softer at when starting in top 5/6 and try to build a gap and harder outside of that as not to just waste then fighting at the start to much.

Thing is for me, the decision is whether to go S-M-S or M-S-S

I will still finish the final stint on soft tyres, but the first and middle stint almost make no difference because when i do my first pitstop, I'll fuel to almost full again because then I have just enough fuel to get to the end without fuelling again & staying in fuel map 1 for Stint 2 & 3.

So the "being on the better tyre while lower on fuel" is irrelevant for what I plan at least for the 1st and 2nd stint, because both stints will start at similar amounts of fuel.

So I've just got to decide whether I want to start on mediums and get mugged by people at the start, or start on softs and hopefully get away from any drama.

On saturday I had the same decision, & I went H-M-M for the Nations GR.2 race and got mugged in the first stint and ended up being spun out by a guy in 7th and ended up in 13th...Then I changed my strategy to start on the faster tyre (with the same group of people almost exactly) in the second timeslot and went M-H-M and got away from drama early and had a super comfortable race finishing 3rd and snagging 1800 points.

So i might play it safe idk.

Five laps at Fuji in the GT-R, just if anyone's wondering. It's going to be a disaster
The problem with GT is that it doesn't punish people enough for pushing 11/10 every single lap. Can't stand running long races where it's qualifying pace the whole way through. Then you end up with tires like that after 5 laps.

Edit: the coming update might cancel out the last round of manufacturers tonight. And since I don't get home from work until after the first one starts, looks like I only get one shot at this.

Shouldn't have bothered with the nations, onwards to the manufacturers. Had a terrible qualifying and was then stuck in no man's land. Had another lap after and changed BB from -1 to -4 and was 0.7 seconds faster instantly.

After a few practice runs and different strats tested, I think the optimal time for the WRX ranges between a 29:15 and a 29:20. That's 15 to 25 seconds off of some of the best race times I have seen. The front tire wear is the problem, obviously. If I can run a 29:15 to 29:17 tonight I will call it a day regardless of finishing position.

Actually he did 9 laps soft / 8 laps medium
He did the race again at the end of the vid and pit lap 8 ;)

I did a very bad race with the SFR , the car is ok in the turn but any fast car pass you in straight like M4 and F50. After this there is no space to pass again in turns so they go away.

Nations 6pm: so i took the F50 and there was 19 SFR in the room. Qualified 4th and had some good battles in the race. Dropped to 7th at one point...but got back to 4th. Fuel wasn’t really an issue and neither was tyres. Couldn’t of done much more with 30mins practice. The F50 has it in the straights but not so great in the corners, hope it’s of help to people still to race

Since I know that this next Manufacturers race is going to suck for me as a Peugeot driver, I decided to give my 101% for the Nations Cup. I made my nation proud, I even had a livery just like the ones the pros use in their tournaments! :D

I qualified first with a slight margin to second place, a fellow Frenchman. We had a very close battle that lasted for 6 laps before he got an unlucky penalty and it went downhill for him from there; third and fourth caught up to him and he ended in 4th. Shame because he was a very clean racer, I personally wouldn´t have minded finishing 2nd if that battle went all the way to the end! In terms of car selection, yeah... it was S-FR city up in Maggiore. Some random picked a Lancer and got lapped, lol...

Anyway, I am happy with my performance. Best lap of 1:34.5, and I went rock solid all the way to the end. My worst lap was .800 of a second off my best lap! Must be my most consistent race yet!

Vive la France! :gtpflag:
Now to suffer with FF for about 30 minutes of Fuji Speedway!

I'm scared for my manu race. I'm down to 80SR, I'm worried I'm going to be in a lobby full of yahoos and get stuck in the vicious SR circle. I need to set my ego aside and just focus on this race being clean to get my SR back up, I don;t want to be anywhere near another driver this race.

I just finished a race sim, my strat in the Scirocco will be 5 lap softs, 6 laps soft, then finish on mediums, short shifting all the while so I won't have to refuel. That 6th lap in my middle stint is going to be sketchy.

I got momoz'd by someone who @Famine made friends with in qualifying at Fuji. 14th in the end up. What an appalling waste of 45 minutes.

I gave him 1s penalty in qualifying for being such a nobsocket, and then another 4s in the race because he just kept on going at it. It knocked him down to a red A though, so he ought not to be back for the next race

Thanks, I'm assuming he ended up down with me because of that. I came out of the pits after my second stop, we touched at turn 1 and then he drove off the track. 4 seconds. Your other friend did something similar giving me a 1 second penalty at the start of the technical section at the end of the track, but I had fuel on the screen rather than radar so I don't know if that was deliberate. It felt more awkward to me, but still annoying.

My best result of this season so far. I've gone about 10 seconds faster for total time in a solo practice, but I drove the race based on where everyone else was on the track. 6 laps in I was around 3 seconds ahead of 2nd place, so decided to go for a one stop so as not to fall back into traffic. Never really had any traffic problems after stopping on lap 8, so just focused on driving smoothly to keep the tyres in good shape, and making the fuel last. Comfortable win in the end, though I do think the NSX is a bit of a beast for this race, being good on both fuel and tyres, as well as having very strong overall pace for lap times.

Possibly - it was a little later on when he was on worn tyres and some Caymans were coming through, so lap 7 or 8. He did crash a couple of times by himself too. And got a 20s penalty for not using Mediums.

Generally an all-round asshat.

Did the Manufacturers race now, after a quick break from the Nations round. I went in, not expecting much, since you know... RCZ Gr.4. Just did some qualifying and I knew that was my only shot. It was almost just like one-shot qualifying because the RS tyres were good for one hotlap before getting too worn to be useful. And I drove the 🤬 out of my car.

Race start. I began on the RM tyres due to being the only logical choice in this car, they lasted for 6 laps so a 2-stop race was needed. The other person who was in the mid 1:41s was 2nd place, an Indian driving the Porsche Cayman GT4. I knew that if he got in front of me, I would have no chance at all of winning, and would be able to claim 2nd (if I had any luck). I defended like a MADMAN from race start to lap 4, parking it on the apex, going super close to the inside, while trying my damnnest to keep it clean (since he was also very clean, aside from a couple of pushes but it was to be expected, I was going so slow through the corners to save tyres and not let him by )

On lap 4, he passes me on the outside of the third corner (damn that Porsche has some grip!). If there was some kind of anime "surprised" sound effect, it would´ve played. I watched as my hopes of Peugeot winning the race shattered in the dist- no. Nonono. I didn´t give up. I kept up with him, about 1 second behind (god knows how the heck I managed that), and on the straight, his advantage got demolished. I passed him like he was standing still!

He went wide in the next few corners trying to pass on the outside and we pitted on lap 6. The RCZ was, to my surprise, SUPER ECONOMICAL on the fuel (we were both going full speed and I had around 3% more fuel still!) so I put another set of RMs and jumped him off the pits. With a 5 second gap (he must´ve overfueled), he got stuck behind traffic of 3 cars which didn´t pit and were having a battle, allowing me to pull away. My outlap was almost as quick as my qualifying lap and I managed to get a 10 second gap before he liberated himself off the traffic. But I´m not sure why he wasn´t catching up to me. I was running about 1:43s to 1:44s in the race... but who cares?!

They said it couldn´t be done. They said it was impossible. Well.

I just did, the impossible. (almost. I guess?)

Coming here with great news!
First: my qualify was atrocious and ended up starting 8th or 9th. The beginning i made a mistake on T1 and the SLS behind capitalized it but instead of doing it clean, he decided to shove me off to green succ of doom almost spinning me out which made me go to 11th place.

My strategy wasn't to win but to survive and you know why? Because i was the only 4c car in the middle of beast power cars so i had no means to catch them on straight so i had to do the waiting game.
Pitted at end of lap 9 while the leader which was a 458 kept going (think it was a mistake as his pace is good but not so much after killing its tyres) and had an intense 3 final laps with porsches.

Ended up winning but...
This is the final lap and the ending was speechless for me, enjoyable!

Mik_Makozi strategy was 8laps soft / 9 laps medium His lap time are the ssame with both tyres.
I think i will do medium / medium , the problem of soft tyres in my opinion and at my level is that if you do some mistakes or drive too agressively , they will not do the 8 laps at this pace.

You're right about that. The racing started off clean and then this NSX does a divebomb and pushes me sideways(I started on RS/RM/RS) I could have gotten one more lap, but that sideways movement cost me. Took everything within me not to punt him off.

Qualified 16th in the SF-R Cup. While driving a X-Bow.

Finished 11th which I'm very happy with. Highlight was being punted off at turn one on lap 16 by a Hungarian I'd been fighting on and off with all race. I caught up to him on the last lap and got a really good run on him coming out of the esses. He went tight to the inside, and I'm pretty sure I braked later than I had been doing even to compensate for the tyres going off. I'm not sure, because my view of the 100 board was skewed. When I saw him brake later than I did though, I knew the position was mine. He was into the wall, I had 11th.

My fastest lap ended up only being .5 off the leader, I think loads of practice could have got me something there. Still, it was weird driving a race where the X-Bow is stronger on straight than it is in corners.

Good for you! I’m happy Nations went well, since you didn’t have the chance to be competitive in Manu this week! Congrats

EDIT: Just read your second post, wow! Can’t imagine winning this race in an FF. Good job man! I’m amazed.

Thanks! Race start struggle was real since that Porsche was in my slipstream and closed out any gap I could pull in the corners but we got there in the end! It wasn't easy though

Has anyone else noticed (or it might just be in AUS) that the aggression and dirty driving has ramped up? Last night was the worst driver behavior I’ve seen in an A/S room.
Drivers punting, pushing and in a few examples intentionally crashing cars off. If this keeps up I’ll be passing on it.
Secondly, the new times are terrible. Go back to on the hour and get rid of warmup.

Mine was tame aside 1 SLS that didn't care anyone, got shoved off track in T1 and not penalized then same 1st lap he dives in before last turn and shoves a Mustang, game finally gives him 2 seconds.

Last was a Porsche that for some stupid reason, just to not get slipstream from... a 4C... He decided to swerve and go their way near the pits (where there are the white lines) like it was rallycrossing. I was confused so i didn't follow him to the extreme.

Overall i am finding less aggression due to the lenght, i guess some people want to do their strats and need some racers out of the competition to work

My manu race was a bumper car fest. I forgot to get my DR to 99, and went on with 86.

I only practise 20m pre-race on a lobby to see how long I could make softs last. 8 laps were fine, but seven were optimal. My strategy was RM during the heavy traffic, then use the softs to capitalize some spots on the open field.
But that all went off the table when the race came.

Qualified 10th, 0.800 from pole. I know I could get into the 1:40's, but I should have practised yesterday.

From 10th I start, get punted on t1 onto some poor bloke. End of L1 and I'm in 7th in a train of 4 slow cars over the place. Whenever I gain a position. I get pushed, and punted.
I did a couple of mistakes too
, but always left space after nudging some1, except a guy that kept pushing me off. Even dodged him On the straight for him to T-bone 2 cars in front.

Pitted on lap 10, but forgot to change to softs. Exited in 8th place behind another train, but 3 laps later was on 4th.

Got passed on last corner before the last lap by a nudger, but he disconnected.

Hope next time it's a cleaner race.
