The first race of the season in the Jag went pretty well tonight, despite a rough start. Qualified 2nd and the race started off ok, but a couple of laps in a guy tried to go two wide through the fast left corner right before the final chicane and bumped me off the track, he got 2s for it and I lost 3 positions in the process. I decided to stick with it and managed to claw my way back to 2nd in the end, 19s off the leader by then though. I had a pretty sweet pass going into spoon on the 10th or 11th lap to get back to 2nd, that was probably the highlight of the race. Really liking the Jag so far, I feel like it was a good choice. :)

Great race. Smooth passing in lap 10 and 11!

As expected, qualified 13th. Was racing in a pack in p5 after some people got a little excited, and then got a little excited in the 3rd lap myself. Lost the left rear and spun. I caught the rear group as I was getting up to speed, and I managed to get a 7 second penalty when I never even touched anyone. It just flashed 7 seconds too...no explanation. After the penalty, I got myself some practice laps since I never saw the pack again.

Blue SR, and I haven’t checked DR but hopefully it’s coming down. I peaked at 27k before Christmas because I hadn’t a couple of favorable dailies. The less favorable dailies and the switch to the wheel have been kind of miserable match-making wise.

I was 2 cars back, saw that happen. I went from 7th to 4th.

First race since they excluded Quebec in May 2018... I had no idea everyone would pit after 1 out lap during the qualifying session so I obviously got traffic on my only shot. Started a long way back in P17 in what was the last slots’ top split. Went wide at T1 at the start but decided to push all race in my Citroën and got back up to P12. Not bad.

Final summary of a really sorry evening of racing.

Attempt 1: Didn't set a qualifying lap (my fault)
Attempt 2: Qualified 2nd(!) and had race destroyed by a penalty (see below)(my fault?)
Attempt 3: Network error
Attempt 4: Didn't get a slipstream in qualifying so started 12th. Moved up to 10th and then spun myself at the exit of spoon (my fault). Finished 16th for 92 points :(

My practice had led me to believe a decent result was on the cards but decided it wasn't to be and left it there. Regarding the penalty, I've put a longer write up in the penalty system thread about that. In short, contact was my fault but 6 seconds was unbelievably harsh.

I do like the 4C, hope I can improve and pick up some much better results as we get through the season. DR is only 342 away from dropping a rank after all that!

"Please" and "for".

The points awarded in an FIA lobby are proportional to the total Driver Rating of the people in it. A lobby full of top, A+ rank drivers will score over 350pt for a win.
Thanks you both for the feedback

I have millions of miles to go before I reach that level

After qualifying 7th, I tried something a little different and went for Mediums at the start in my Renault. I thought I could make a 1-stop work, but on L4 I got caught up in a cluserfrick at the exit of Casio, resulting in a 4 second penalty as some poor guy did his best Furi impression and ate some pit wall. I dropped to 10th after serving the penalty on L5, and pitted for Softs, and nothing of note happened for the next stint, and I pitted one last time on L9. I picked off a few cars ahead of me, ending up in a scrap for 5th/6th/7th in the final two laps, but punted the 5th-placed car into the hairpin on the last lap, so I stopped to let him back ahead, winding up sickth.

At least I didn't hear the Dirge of Disappointment again.

Repost: hope not duplication. Posted in “Daily Races” originality.

Brought the M6 to a 3rd place in the FIA Manu Series after leading the race for most laps.

Started in 4th with Mediums on and right on very first T1 the three cars ahead tangled up and and I took the lead until I had to pit for another set of Mediums!
Came out in 4th, soon others pitted and I made it to 2nd, but could not hold on to P2 to the end.

So, the way I understand is that if I race it again, the official result for the day will be the last race, correct? - if that’s the case I’m done for the day!

Only did manufacturer on bmw M6, i actually like the short qualy cause burning fuel for me it´s just boring...

Qualy 6st whitout any pratice since i was with a big hanghover from the reivellion :D

Managed to make a clean race and at start of the race i thought that was going to be a mess cause of the new penalty system, my head was only thinking on T1 but for my glad all whent well, from 6 i climbed to 3rd in the first lap droping again in the 2nd lap to 5st position.

Had to lift a couple times to avoid contact, that was the reason i couldn´t keep my 3rd position for long and cause slower people just tend to force you to go out of track and when that happened my only option was to lift and follow behind and it payed of, ended up in 2nd with a clean race.

Overall it seems losing a bit time and be patience it´s the way to go, a guy in front of me took 7s penalty cause of the intense fighting and a small touch with other people seems to trigger big penaltys without aparent reason, with that in mind and from seeing couple streams from top ranked players i just took my time and capitalise from others mistakes along the way i could save the tyres to make moves when needed, an enjoyable race for me to start this new year.

Unfortunately, after the Laguna Seca update, I feel like they just ruined the penalty system while trying to make it better. Now penalties are either non existent or way too harsh.

During qualifying yesterday, I was already braking and turning in into turn 11 when someone in a R8 gets there literally flying, clips very lightly my right end and proceeds off track. The touch was very light and luckily didn't send me off as well but next thing I know I get a 2 secs penalty. Total 🤬

The game doesn't tell you directly what split you are in, but as the points awarded in the FIA races depends on the strength of the lobby (i.e. the average DR) you can naturally determine the lobby strength by looking at the points distribution page. This chart shows the relationship.

An example: if you are in a lobby where the winner will get 340 points the average DR is ca. 70000 (that would almost certainly be first split.)

Another example: if your friend was awarded 246 points for finishing third, the average lobby DR was around 55000.
Wow, awesome chart

That's the most nonsense penalty I've ever seen in this game. He never even went off track! It wasn't like you punted him either. I consider that kind of contact to be "routine" for this type of racing. The day before in the Nations race at Spa I punted and spun a guy on the exit of Pouhon after he made a mistake going into the corner, went through the inside grass, then slid back onto track on the racing line in front of me. I had no where to go as I'd already committed to pass him around the outside when I saw him slide back onto the track, but I thought for sure I'd get a race-ending penalty for that. Instead, not only did I not get a penalty, but I got a clean race bonus at the end of it! This was in an A/S room too, so I have no idea how I got away with it.

Indeed a pointless penalty, I got one first lap out in qualifying as I left the pits for ignoring track limits? I hadn’t even joined the track yet WTF?

The beginning of this season has been good to me. After an excellent 3rd place finish in the McLaren for Nations I had high hopes my success would follow into the Manu race because of my familiarity with this season’s choice of Porsche.

Suzuka has been one of, if not the worst track for me though. Up until yesterday I could count on one hand the number of laps of successfully completed. After some solid time spent in practice lobbies I started to feel more confident though. And so I entered with the Porsche with a qualifying strategy of fast out -> pit -> slow out - flying to maximize the 5 minute time limit. First round though I mistimed my second out lap and missed the cutoff by 2s. Starting from p19 was far from desirable. After some hard racing and a spin at Degner 1 I ended the race in p11.

Not enough, so I went again for the second slot. This time I managed a good quali time and started p4. The racing was incredibly clean and close through the entire race. After falling to p5 for a few laps I finally passed the Supra ahead of me on the last lap to take back the p4 spot and finish with my best FIA manu result yet!!

Round 1 - Nations Cup @ Spa

I haven’t competed in a Nations Cup event for some months - I don’t find the usual Ferrari F50 Vs. Toyota S-FR Vs. X-Bow events all that interesting, so it was good to hear that familiar theme song again. And it was good to be able to compete at Spa, having missed out on the Spa round of last season’s Manufacturers Cup, due to the infamous Christmas server outage. But it took three attempts in the Gr.4 Jaguar F-Type to get a decent result; good thing they added so many extra time slots. The first attempt was going well until I attempted an overtake on a Cayman at Campus, which slightly bumped them off the line. In my defence they were well off the pace, and carrying a penalty for a cut corner, and I had the correct line. They also remained on the circuit, and this was the only time my vehicle touched another or caused any sort of incident. Yet later through Blanchimont I was rammed at full speed, not by the Porsche, but by a Mercedes whom I’d apparently blocked. This was later repeated on the Kemmel Straight, losing me several places as a result, before I’d finally had enough and returned the favour - ramming them properly off into the sand at Stavelot. They came last, I managed to scrape together a few places, but the damage was already done. I had my hopes up for the second attempt, which was in a higher ranked lobby full of familiar faces, but my qualifying time had me further back in 12th. I was rammed by another driver in the opening laps and was handed a 3 second penalty, finishing at the back of the pack somewhere around 14th, but with more points than my first attempt.

But as they say, third time’s the charm. I started 8th, and had to try and not bin it as the lights went out, the race starting in the middle of the chicane entry. I fell to 10th at the top of Eau Rouge after I understeered and veered left, inadvertently moving out of the path another Jag and an Aston fighting for position. I made steady progress through the field as others came off, chasing down the 7th placed Nismo GT-R, undercutting them on the entry to the chicane. They immediately undercut me on the exit, but I maintained more pace on the uphill out of Eau Rouge on the next lap, and stole 7th under braking at the end of the Kemmel Straight. Up ahead the JPS Aston ran wide on Pouhon, and I was up to 6th. The Nismo returned for more, but then weaved left under braking into the chicane and span, with the Aston driver either missing the exit or changing their mind on whether to pit - the Aston slammed into the pit entry wall.

I managed to get as high as 5th, but needed to pit to refuel and fit the required hard tires. I filled with less fuel than what I thought was required; on my other two attempts I crossed the line with laps of excess fuel, and exited in 7th place behind the Castrol Jag. I pushed a bit too much on the cold tires heading downhill at Bruxelles, cutting the curb and getting a 0.5 sec. penalty, but made it to 6th passing the pits on Lap 7. But behind me an orange Mustang, that had been shunted off earlier through the chicane in the opening laps, began closing in on my rear bumper, just as I realised I wouldn’t have enough fuel to hold him off. That didn’t stop me trying, I set my fastest lap of 2:33:043, but the Mustang had the pace, and I was pre-occupied with keeping the Jag on the track, having narrowly avoided an off after Bruxelles on the final lap. The fuel gauge read 0.0 on Blanchimont, and before the chicane the motor died. I managed to preserve some momentum through the bend, but the Mustang tore away over the line in 6th, and I settled for 7th.

Round 1 - Manufacturers Cup @ Suzuka

8296220954063798784_0.jpg

I started 10th at Suzuka, but progress up the field was swift thanks to some major accidents on Turn 1. Both the Corvette in 2nd and the Aston in 3rd came off, with the 5th placed Repsol Jaguar going for a spin, and colliding with a Porsche, giving the Porsche a 2 second penalty. On Lap 2 a Supra pushed me off the track on the home straight; I overcorrected and hit a Suburu, which had been attempting a clean overtake over on the right side, the Supra receiving a 2-second penalty. The Repsol Jaguar from earlier came off again at T1, hit by another Jag. The Repsol managed to get back onto the track, but hit a McLaren in the process and came back off, colliding with the other Jaguar a second time. As the Supra served its penalty I moved up to 5th, but had to pit on Lap 6, falling back to 7th. I climbed back to 5th, but couldn’t hold off the pace of a Mazda, which had started from back in the field and had avoided the earlier carnage. I ended up 6th, and decided to leave it at that.

Question for you season 3 round 2 n200 race. Next up
Besides the S-fr racing concept 16 what others cars are Good?
Since no Mercedes:irked: is in that group or close.

The weight is so low in that car and it's so stable.
Nothing is really close unfortunately. Unless you're an alien then who knows lol.
It's technically a race car.
Bop isn't really taking its chassis into account.

Then I do my normal pick another car that I can drive ok & hope a few loose control to help me to up a place or two.
Unless it's a one car race I hate driving the same as everyone... lol

Thanks for feedbacks.

Edit
Decided to go with Porsche again and take it easy

Anyone done any testing for Sunday's Gr3 event at Dragon Trail Gardens II yet? Seems like a fairly easy RM/RM one stop with fuel not being an issue again. Was going to skip this one as I am not a fan of this track typically (and was definitely thinking that after trying a few laps) but managed to find the right line and some speed so will most likely give it a go.

I gave it a try yesterday and you're right. RM/RM no fuel required (with Porsche) is probably the strategy. I don't see the advantage to do a no-stop with H as the pit stop is very quick on this track. Tricky track with sharp corners - Clean Overtaking will be a bit tricky (very afraid of the penalty system :) )

I set a 2:01.7 with the FuguZ. Just 1 second away from 8th, in the top 10 Oceania. Felt good. Might be good in the slip stream during the race.

I was going to skip it, but finding a different car to use is drawing me in. The Crown felt so stable, but it was 2 seconds slower.

As for DTG II, It's pretty much the FFS( I named it Flip Flop Series) of corners that may catch players out.

People just need to be smart about where they try and pass. Unfortunately this is never the case.

There’s a pretty wide variety of cars that can run in the 2:00 bracket for the N200 race in free practice, but nothing will be able to touch the S-FR with tire wear on.

I did couple of race simulations yesterday in Aston Martin and I agree, RM one stop should be the way to go. For me, by lap 10 RHs are too bad to go fast enough in these sharp corners, a no-stop would give me "fun" times at the end of the race, no thanks!

I'm also scared of the penalty system here but with walls being very close to the track, dive-bombers have good chances of collecting some serious seconds for colliding with walls, you just have to dodge the bullet!

I like the Manu track. Anyone have an idea of what kind of lap times normal humans (mid DR B) will be running? I was running 33s last night with my optimal in the 32s. I’ll have some time to practice tomorrow with some ideas of where to grab some more speed.
