I know it was down earlier in the week for the early slots as I was watching a stream and nobody could get into FIA, I will just have to try again later if am not too tired...
I am connected to PSN so its PD servers dying again.

This is up now :banghead:

Be able to recconect just now.

Not just all the 90's cars, Ferrari Dino, Honda S2000, Mazda TC, they could epic races without the Froggy No Cockpit Wearing Fake Car :grumpy:
I toyed with using the Carrera but lets face it, im going to be a sheep (if I ever get reconnected).

I might go with the Renault V6.
Last race with N200 19 Toyotas against my BMW. LOL, at Tsukuba. Tires were my nightmare.
Always chose a car from the different depersonalized cattle ones.

What irritates me, is that noone at PD try to change these ridiculous 'cup' races.
With dozens of cars and all we see is a grid with only one car make. Ridiculous!
We want to have fun with many cars as we can.

On the daily races, I always make them, with a looping car choice. Never repeat a car on the next race.
And that is fun using all cars I have.

My 2 cents.

Rant off.

Cheers,
Paulo

Came back from the 16:00. Q6, P5, some close racing at the front and a really unexpected surprise during the race countdown. DR/SR mix was very... err... mixed. Earned a grand total of 4 points (along with P1-4), so definitely going again.

Full write-up to follow...

Managed to get in the 1700(1600 UK) and got a q as p5. That was way too high for the race...
Ended up as p10 with 38 points, server red right after point photo, then reconnect to past race chat.
One and done. It's boring in that car even though I make mistakes.
In my race was a BMW M3 and a Golf GTI. They ended up p13 and 15.

Oh, if I see the guy who pushed me off to pass before the Chikane... I remember your psn...

Yep, just use what you want. I went with the Toyota Crown for the N300 at Lago Maggiore. So many cars to use, I just can't do the shepeople thing. Especially when I'm not fighting for a World Championship or free toilet paper for a year or a handshake from Kaz.

I was planning on going with the Carrera but when you are 2 sec faster in the meta....
Hotlapping in a slower car at last place for 15 laps is not my thing. If I hadn't already run the SF-R in the practice it would have worked...

It really does depend on the whole scope of the race. Hot lapping does not tell the whole truth.

In race conditions, sure, some cars will truly get left in the dust. However, I did a 31 second lap. I was .5 second up before I hit the chicane. Also, I chose to run by myself. I did that qualy in clean air and no tow(most of the field ran together in qualy). In the META, I may have been up the front.

Even when some use the META, it doesn't guarantee the best results. I've seen it time and again. The GR.B RCZ didn't leave me and this S-FR didn't embarrass my MX-5. It's why I feel fast drivers should set examples to use different cars.

But hey, everyone does play the game how they want to. It's all good. I'll continue to use alternatives and up my skills, with the "lesser" choices. If I can be competitive, it's a win for me. ;)

Absolutely. The problem is that I get out in a lobby with 18 players within 1,5 seconds. So if I choose to run a car I am two seconds slower in I will qualify last, slipstream or not. And then I will actually be hotlapping during the race, but slower than the next to last player.
That's no fun. Now, if I newer practiced in the meta I would end up in a lobby I could be competitive in the Carrera with. But I did run in the meta... So my choices where limited

Nations Round 4
The string of awful races continues. Whoever came up with these combinations, good grief.

This was the dirtiest round I think I've endured yet. I'm beyond sick of avoiding collisions with people in front of me only to get bashed around by the people behind me.

In my first attempt I had a decent qualifying but was completely screwed over by a Spaniard who kept swerving. I take action to avoid him, and then lose several positions for it whilst everyone behind pushes past, leaving me stuck with him to just keep doing it.

In my second attempt my qualifying was ruined by an Italian who had the slipstream on me whilst I was out front with no tow of my own. Seriously, what the hell does it take to just leave a gap in case the car ahead is slightly slower than you?

The second race devolved into running battles. A German who was serving a penalty deliberately moved to unghost in front of me as I was about to go past, and after that the gloves were off and everyone was just punting left, right and centre because there were no penalties being handed out. I ended up finishing last.

I think I'm done with GT Sport for a while. I've dropped down to B DR because of the last few rounds and I have had enough of trying to play fair and being punished for it.

(Technically 1st Race of the Evening due to Server Issues Missed the Start by 5 Minutes because It went down) 17:20pm,

Qualified P3, & Had a close race right till the very end. When the leader got greedy and didn't want me to Win the Race even though I was tailgating him the entire last 3 Laps in P2. Warning him that I would overtake at the Chicane the previous lap when I gave him space and we both got round It that time easily enough (My Fastest Lap of 1:29.100) I'm not really the type of person to Name & Shame but them slamming me Into the wall at the Chicane was warrant enough for them being a sore loser. Ended up P5 & He still managed to Finish P2. Going to attempt another Podium for the 18:40 Race & Hope to fair with better racers on that one. (Fingers Crossed)

That's really weird, you'd think even if the 19 other drivers had 0 DR, just your DR alone should make the average high enough for something like 14 points for 1st place.

I ended up having no problems connecting in the first two slots. First round of the frog chorus was a shambles: the guy in front of me in qualifying bottled the chicane and after he moved to the right to let me past while I moved to the right to go past. DNF'd this one.

Had a front row seat to this, I ended up starting 7th with what I think was the second best lap with no slipstream. Most of the things that happened around me in the race seemed to happen to other people, with the major incidents being:

- punted out the way by a Swiss at the chicane, I think he just missed his braking although I was following someone ahead of me
- A Norwegian getting a bad run out of the chicane and trying to take turn 1 as normal when I was completely alongside him
- Me making a hash of letting the pole-sitter (who'd spun earlier) past me at the corner before the chicane. The Swiss from earlier also got through and then took the German off at the same corner on the next lap.
- Me taking 3rd out of the chicane with one lap to go, only to somehow downshift an extra gear through the corner before the top straight, losing it to the Swiss. I tried to fake him out at the chicane but didn't happen, finished 4th for 133 points. In the end I enjoyed that more than I thought I would, but I can only echo everyone's complaints about the way N-class races are handled. Either disallow tuning or make it an actual one-make race with some different cars.

If you keep experiencing disconnects, don't forget to clear the game's network cache (it's in Options) and give your PS4 a hard reboot - not just Rest Mode. And your router too.

Succeeded in entering two slots amidst the recurring mid-quarantine server issues. Both were in the SF-R as anything else would've been left behind no matter how hard I drove them.

16:00
As soon as I had finished FP about 15-20 minutes before the EMEA lobbies began, it was touch and go as to whether I would be able to enter the 16:00. Suffice to say, I did, though I knew something was strange right off the bat when I saw that no DR/SR ratings were shown on the pre-race loading screen. Turns out that most of the field consisted of B/S, C/S and D/S drivers, with one C/B and only a handful of A+ or S-ranked entrants. Even more bizarrely, the points table looked like this:

Gran Turismo™SPORT_20200328160311.png

Multi-tier matchmaking and hilarious scoring aside, this lobby turned out surprisingly well for me. Despite running onto the grass at the end of my first flier, I broke into the late 1:29s in qualifying with a 1:29.808, which was enough to put me in 6th. It should be said at this point that there were two Clio V6s, a Carrera RS CS and even an FK2 Civic Type R entered among the swarm of SF-Rs, though the Civic disappeared during the last minute of qualifying.

Red Arrows.jpg

Following a flypast by the Red Arrows (a neat touch which took me completely by surprise), the race was underway, and for the most part I was content with following the top 5 starters round while they began engaging in their separate little battles. On Lap 3, a Frenchman runs wide at Lavant, allowing me to follow a fellow Brit up into 5th. The very next lap, said Brit drifts wide at Madgwick, giving me another place and a clear run to the top 3 squabbling for position. My priority was to look after the tyres and take things as smoothly and gently as possible; indeed, this allowed me to catch up to the trio quickly, though not without towing a faster Spaniard along. Relinquished 4th to the Spaniard through Fordwater and stayed there, though the substantial gap between us and the pack behind meant I was under no serious pressure from then on.

Had a couple of errors and opportunities along the way, but thankfully the racing was close and fairly tidy for the most part. On the penultimate tour, we come round to lap one of the Clios, but in my haste to get through his ghost I misjudged my approach through St. Marys and lost touch with the other front-runners. The gulf between me and the rest of the field meant that I was free to take the buzzbox home to my first top 5 finish of the season:

Got an extra chuckle at the results screen, though in actuality my score for the race stood at 91 points. Overall, a weird but satisfying first attempt, and I was satisfied enough with my pace and potential that I wanted to get a second run done.

17:20
Complete one-make SF-R lobby this time, seeded 4th and partnered with @GOTMAXPOWER and @SmokeyMR2. Had a much more challenging run in qualifying, which began with my first lap (1:30.043) being compromised by a slow-moving Dutch driver and a poor run through the chicane (I clipped the first barrier while going in). Both my second and third laps were also compromised for various reasons, which saw me languishing in 17th with plenty of work to do.

Greeted by the Red Arrows once again, I quietly worked my way through the bottom 10, taking advantage of others going wide or forcing each other wide at Madgwick Corner. Before long, I am battling a yellow Frenchman for 13th (and a very fast and experienced one at that), trading places and gradually paring on the 12th-placed German. Set two consecutive high-1:28 laps as the 7th and 8th-placed runners tangled at Madgwick; my chance of gaining more places grew, which finally came when the German almost loses it at Lavant and picks up a penalty for trimming the infield grass. The Frenchman also veers into the Madgwick shadow realm on Lap 11, clipping the tyres and giving me two places for the price of one.

As with the first race, my gentle approach enabled me to catch up quickly with the train for 8th. Another Frenchman (dark grey, pink and white car) picks up a penalty on Lap 13, having gone over the white line on the right-hand kink into St. Marys. His black and blue compatriot starts lagging profusely the next lap, and contact between the pair gives the former a penalty and me a genuine chance of snatching 10th. A battle with the pink car ensues; his superior speed on the run down Lavant Straight left me no choice but to back off so we could make it round Woodcote cleanly. Breezed past the black and blue car into 11th for 158 points, ending what had been a consistent run with a couple of fair and pleasant battles.

Thought about doing a third slot, but decided against it as I'm not in the right frame of mind to keep playing right now. Still a long way to go in the championship yet, but already feel like I have plenty in reserve to score better with good qualifying and race runs as the season goes on.

FINALLY get myself into a lobby, then my heart sinks when I see this load

But, managed to qualify 5th, and managed to hang with the lead pack of 7 cars for the full race distance. Fell out of the slipstream once only for someone else in the pack to make a mistake that allowed me to catch back up. Kept it clean and very happy with the result. The red arrows flyby seemed particularly low and scared the bejesus out of me. DR crept over 54k, an all new high for me :)

Well.... that went a wee bit better than I expected, started on pole and nobody got anywhere near me the entire race, so then I panic as I’m starting to catch the back markers, thinking at least one eejit is going to punt me to oblivion, only to find that they’re all ghosted..so then it gets really funny as I see some of them trying to ram me off only to go straight through me..all good fun

That race was all about positioning in qualifying, I sat at the back of a long line so had a huge tow so started towards the front and just drove around there all race, the cars are quicker in the slipstream but not by enough to get a run for an easy pass on the straight. I had one try for the win at the end but lent on the leader a bit too much for my liking so backed off and let him have it. BOP isn't really a thing in the N category races.

Third Attempt tonight 18:40 Race:

Finally had a stroke of good fortune. Managed to Qualify P2 for the Race, SR S - DR - B,
Had a really nice close Battle with the Top 3, Dicing back and forth for the Lead throughout. Really enjoyable and tense. Leader unfortunately clipped all 4 Wheels on the grass and went far too wide to recover as I was on his Bumper then Cruised to the Lead for the last 3/4 Laps +!

Really pleased with 121 Points, Most I've got this season so far. Target is to hopefully get back Into the DR - A By tomorrow night after the Manufacturer Cup Races. But we shall see! Video of the Race Attached below :gtpflag:
