I had two goes at GoodWood tonight, both in the S-FR. First race I ended up in the top split with Door #18, I qualified 11th and had made my way up to 8th before a couple of mistakes put me back down the order. It was a good race but I decided to try try once more. I did get FL in this race though, which I’m pretty proud of considering Deafsun was in the room. :)

2nd race was in what I assumed to be 2nd split and went much better. I had door #10 in this one I think, but I got a better Qually in this time and started P5. I managed to stay out of trouble and in the draft for the first few laps until it was down to only 3 cars running in the front. The guy in P1 had gotten pole in my first race and was super quick, I couldn’t even catch him with the help of his draft. But it definitely helped me fend off PHX-Grove, without it he’d have been around me for sure. Ended up finishing P2 for my best Nations result of the season, that’s it for me tonight. :)

As much as I like the hilarious looks of the SF-R and my Kirby livery for it, I just don't enjoy Goodwood enough to bother with this race. I probably won't be doing another FIA race until the N100 Nations at Laguna Seca. Since only the best single round counts for this "championship" and I'm not likely to do better than the 212 points I got at Brands Hatch, I might as well do only the fun races, and if Laguna Seca has a Meta I don't really like I probably won't do another Nations race until the RB Jr. at Sardegna.

This is pretty much the best strategy.

Unfortunately I wasn’t in top split for this one, but my qualy lap would’ve given me good starting position in just about any lobby anywhere it seems. I’m not much of a gambling man so I kept these points and moved on after the first slot. I consider myself lucky to have regained and kept the lead given the strength of the slipstream. I think a lot of people weren’t short-shifting and were taking some corners one gear too low. Here’s the race :)

It isn't a single scoring round that counts, it's 1/4 of your scoring rounds that count. So when you've had 5 scoring rounds 2 of them will count, and after 10 scoring rounds 3 of them will count (because its rounded up).

Oh I see. I just checked the entry screen for the next Nations round and it's now saying "Your best 2 Round(s) will be tallied as of Round 5." When it was saying only your single best round was being tallied in Rounds 2-4 (I didn't notice the wording in Round 1) I thought it was just going to keep saying that until Round 10. This is an odd way to count 1/4 of the races though... Why aren't they just counting the 1st 3 races you do then dropping the lowest ones as you do more races? That's how they've done it in literally all the other seasons before this one isn't it?

I guess the problem with what you suggested is if you only did 3 rounds and then no more, that would give you points from 100% of your rounds rather than the 25%.

The method they're using for this season is how they did it for the 2019 season. Why they changed it for the Exhibition Seasons and Pre-season, and now changed it back, I wouldn't like to guess!

2.3 seconds slower than my Free Practice time. Think I'm going to be sick.

Edit: Atenza went way better on the RS than the RM. Could have started with RMs and finished strong on the RS. I had 13% fuel. While cars that pitted at the same time, had 0-3%.
Was battling for 5th and a Cayman(I think the one that DNF'd) goes up the inside on the final corner and knocks me wide into the dirt. WHY?! COME ON!!!! I had a sweet gap to the cars that had to fill to 100%. It battles the cars I was and battling and one of them knocks the Cayman off.

Had to give up on a couple spots to an SLS I jumped in the pits and I signaled for an RC F to pass. Just ruined my tyres and finishing further up.

Well didn't place well for the first slot but this race is substantially more fun that yesterday, which was in my opinion one of the most boring FIA races I've attempted yet.

A bit of strat and variation livens everything up.

Very pleased with 6th after starting 15th. Poor qualifying as I braked far too early on one of the corners.

Started on Softs planning to make up as much time as I could. Got knocked wide on lap 1 and somehow managed to keep it on the road sliding sideways and dropping to 17th. Then got to work moving up the field overtaking some cars and watching others lose it into the desert. Was running 2nd after everyone in front pitted. I came out the pits in 5th, 6 seconds ahead of 6th but he was on softs and hunted me down taking me on last lap. Didn’t mind at all after starting so far back :)

Any tips for the poor souls who picked Jaguar?
Managed a 1:16.56 with a 16.43 as optimum, not sure how to get any sort of extra speed out of it. Running BB+5 atm
Also anyone had any success running with Mediums first or should I gamble on the Softs?

I keep getting into practice lobbies that end with everyone getting kicked. Am I just unfortunate or is this happening to others too?
There’s a lot of lobbies with just the host in too.

Can’t get anyone to start one. They just wanna run laps, which is fine, but one practice race would be nice.

Just finished a custom race with the Jag, same settings. Would guess an 11S/7M or 7M/11S may be plausible if you set BB to +5 to try and take as much stress from the FL tyre as possible. Anyone here with other ideas?

Disconnected from the first slot :( WTF!!!!!
Same here. Went to the kitchen, having left my entry waiting to got to practice, and came back to see I'd been disconnected!

There are far worse things happening in the world, but this is becoming a drag. And to top it all, which piece of menu music was playing?

No Communication, No Love! You couldn't make it up!:banghead::rolleyes:

It took me a bit longer than usual to get connected. 18 people in the lobby and, for the first time in my life, 0 bar connections. During qualifying and the race everybody went down to 1 bar, and everyone was lagging around even when the connections were showing normal. We lost two people after qualifying.

I had #1 on the car (as I would, on a track I hate where the car I'm driving is crap) and I qualified 14th. I two-stopped (4/6/8) and finished 9th, holding off a Porsche behind me which I'm quite happy about.

I pitted a lap early the second time. I lag punted another GT-R off at the left hander before the back straight and the car he was following pitted that lap, so I went in with him. It seems there was a penalty line there which I didn't realise, so I didn't suffer too badly. The guy I hit (who was French) called me a charlot (google has nothing) and told me to shut up the second time I apologised, which was interesting. It's especially interesting since I'm watching the replay and he's driving with automatic transmission and the traction control on. And since someone else was complaining about him in the chat, and he seems to have barged his way past 3rd on lap 1 then potentially lag bumped 2nd off at the last corner on lap 2. Charming.

All in all, a pretty miserable experience, though I'm enjoying trying to drive the Gr.4 Nissan smoothly.

Did the 1st slot, couldn't nail qualifying so was nigh on 2 sec off my personal best. Started 12th finished 7th should have been 8th but tyre penalty for one of the cars ahead.
Messy race, with cars jumping around all over, everyone seemed to have a reasonable amount of bars on their connection so I'm assuming servers are a bit overloaded.

Edit, did 8S 3M 7S topping up fuel each time crossed finish line with 0.5 in the tank, using the Lexus

Got into a race with 17 others. Rubbish qualifying starting 13th.

Was sooo laggy. Cars skipping around all over the place. Got a 2 second penalty for apparently colliding with an invisible car?? Wasn’t anybody around me. That put me in last after the first lap. Had managed to climb up to 8th with 3 laps left but I went wide on the last corner and put 2 wheels in the dirt and just stopped myself spinning. Dropped down to 12th. Couple of other’s disappeared into a cloud of dust on the last lap so moved up a couple of places. Really struggling in the Lexus. Haven’t finished higher than 10th yet.

Is a 2 stop more advantageous/less risky than running a 1 stop race?
Depends on what car you're in/how lucky you get with slipstream. If it's front wheel drive or bad on its tyres you'd need to 1-stop mediums (probably), but a good slipstream could keep you in contention and help a lot with fuel. There also seems to be a pretty significant problem with lag, so maybe you're better off trying to run on your own if you have good pace.
