Sardagena, what a lovely place to be. Weather is always good and the more often I drive on this track, the more I like it.
Made a few days ago a shootout between some cars and I went with the most conservative one, good 'ol reliable Mazda MX-5 (or Miata in freedom language) TC.
Two races for me today, still B/S lobbies.
Race 1 was interesting but forgetable. Good lord, sometimes I ask my self where some guys left their mind. Qualifying was a desaster, Got 4 (!) divebombs and a few more over aggressive guys in my two laps, so I was happy to be 12th. Didn't find real pace so I was stuck and after a few laps I was part of a Spain-German-Belgium fight between two Mazdas and the Belgian Stratos. It wasn't nice or fair, it was bloody. I have now idea how we were able to keep our cars on the road, as we pushed each other multiple times all over Sardagena. A race I'm not proud of, finished 11th behind the Spanish MX-5.
Race 2 was awesome. Qualifying was meh at the beginning but then I got some draft from a British gentleman in his Dino which put me in 4th place. Immediately after the start I saw my friend in his Ferrari again as he passed me on the long straight. After the downhill corners we were at 2nd and 3rd and then it was pretty magic. The draft of the Dino saved me from a pretty fast Dutch in his Roadster and we were building a gap of 6 seconds behind me. While the advantage in the corners were mine, the little Ferrari was unbeatable on the straight. We teamed up, I was providing some draft at the exit and he pulled me along as our train had built up speed. Which worked amazingly well, till 10th lap when we started to race against each other. Like real gentleman, only smallest touches, enough place for everyone to survive.
In the end he was 0,6 seconds faster then me as I was forced to defend 3rd place from the Dutch guy who immediately closed the gap as we started to fight each other. I finished 3rd and I couldn't be more happy about this result.
Curious about tomorrows race, have not yet driven a single lap with my M4 at Laguna Seca. Hope I found some time to practice a bit...
