Is it too late to get into this if I just recently got the game? I use a controller and am not very fast, but I race clean. Or is my best bet waiting on gt7 instead of trying to get competitive on a dying game?

I don't think it's too late. GT7 is likely Dec at the earliest and there's still plenty of people playing this game. Sure, you'll hear a lot of us who have been playing for a bit complaining about things but it really is worth the dive, IMO.

Gane is not really dying, you can get into Dailies if you want, see how you perform. GT7 is at least (and very optimisticly) 7-8 months away, if not miles more. We definitely do complain a lot though, but you'll get used to it once you're familiar with the penalty system lol

2nd Nations slot. Drove even worse. Went off in Turn 1 twice and cost myself what probably would've been 7th again. Only this time I completely ran out of talent and spun myself like a moron when trying to rejoin the track. I was tempted to just quit so I could practice for Sardegna, but decided to try to avoid losing even more DR than I was already going to. At the same time, I just didn't care about the race anymore, so I couldn't even be bothered to try to keep Pigzilla on track. Eventually I fell to 17th and last, and got lapped. Lost over 3.5k DR in the last 3 races. I'll be back in the sub-200 point rooms before the nights over...

I probably could've actually just quit and saved myself the time without ruining my DR that much more than it already was.

Tries Nations for the first time:

This was lap 1. On lap 2 I spun leaving Degner 2 and hit the wall causing engine damage. In a solid p20 at that point so changed strategies to dump the RM&RH tires and then try a charge on softs. It worked for the most part and I finished in p12. Still stings though.

Wow! I don't know if I've seen a tail lifted up like that before!

FIA 2020 Series - Round 7

Nations Cup: Forgot that the Saturday races start at 4PM, not 5... so rushed to jump online at 3:58 and just made the first race... cold, no practice! No expectations, was on the fence about trying the META GTR, but given that I'd be double-headering in the Gr3 in my Porsche immediately after, and that I didn't have any practice before the qualifying, decided to just go in with no expectations in the RSR. Qualified 17th, in a field of about 50% Nissans (lower than I expected!) and finished 9th, in a clean race with little exciting to share. I was grateful that a guy who I had overtaken me at Spoon on the last lap with an ahem~ bullish move, actually granted the spot back to me before the final chicane. Sportsmanship is alive and well after all.

Manufacturer's Cup: fresh off the plane from Japan, jumped into the RSR again and qualified 7th at Sardegna. Started on softs, thinking it would be best to be 'racy' at first and see what track position I could gain before I had to use the Hards once. And in practice, I was happier on the M's anyway, they weren't that much slower than the softs. So figured it was a good strategy. Turned out to be the right strategy:

Some great, clean racing in the first several laps, where I was able to move up. I enjoyed racing the Ferrari and another guy, and was able to overtake a couple when they went off track.

While in 4th, I watched 2nd and 3rd race each other hard, allowing me to attack them and take 3rd.

I pressured that guy for a lap or so, but he didn't break, so I let the guy behind me have a go at it. (Might have been a mistake, see below). He didn't have any better luck. But eventually the pit stops started.

I had made it up to 3rd in the first stint, clean, and then put some distance on all but the leader in the second stint.

Things were working out well. After finding myself in the lead at the end, I ducked into the pits with a 10 sec lead, for those required H's... maybe I was gonna come out of this with a win?!? (Palms sweaty, Mom's spaghetti)

But no, despite exiting the pits for the last lap with a decent lead... the second place guy, the guy I had let pass me in the first stint, had a head of steam on me, either on warmed-up Hards (smart move, if so, good thinking from second place, to pit for one extra lap, knowing I'd be a sitting duck) or one of the softer tires was barreling down. I tried to defend, but heading into the hard first-gear/uphill corner, he made a fantastic move on me, clean, and I had to hand it to him. Great pass, and he deserved to win.

But I do regret now, that I let him around for third, because it didn't help me then, and it may have made it easier for him to track me down on that last lap. If I had been able to defend that last passing zone, I'd have cruised to a win. As it happened, I had to trail him to the Finish Line and lost by 0.5 sec. (not a bad points haul, either, with door #13...), with nary a mark on the Porsche.

My first podium in the RSR, which I hadn't had the best results in so far, despite being more comfortable in it than the Cayman to start the season. So I'll put a podium sticker on the rear bumper of that one now too, next to the Rookie Stripe. Grateful for the fun, clean races today, and the DR boost to cap off the great Friday I had at Willow Springs in the 3000-GT. When this game's good, it's really fun. Kudos to the other clean guys on the track today at both races. Fun times.

Alright... my Manu race was great with heartbreak at the very last turn!

Qualified 6th, #18 on the door. Started on Mediums and kept up with front pack till lap 11 when I got the Hards for 2 laps, then on to Softs and fuel to finish.

Managed the race very well, pushing when I had to, backing off when it didn’t look wise to push, in summary, stayed out of trouble and managed to stay on even when some aggressive drivers came by.

On last lap was in 5th, right behind a Porsche and a Mitsubishi. The Porsche dude forced in and passed the Mitsubishi, pushing him on to the grass and opening a gap for me that I went for... then the Mitsubishi guy comes from the grass and hit me on the door... I spun like 3 360s... manage to finish in 11... all happened on last turn of the race!

Heartbreaking for me but that was that I guess. Perfect race destroyed on very last turn after 22 laps... onto the next one...

Did 2nd slot of Manufacturers this time in what was on paper a quick lobby for me. Qualified in the mid pack with a clean but safe lap. Started on mediums and ended up doing a 3 stopper as the tyres went quickly for me in the first stint. Was a clean race from my PoV and ended up with a result that matched my 2nd best score. My pace wasn't the best so not too many complaints about the result though without a couple of mistakes here and there could've been a couple of positions but was a fun race anyway

Lost over 1000 more DR in the 2nd Manufacturer's race after qualifying 16th (even with a slipstream!) and driving like an idiot on my way to 19th. I'd be surprised if I got placed in a 200+ point race next time at this rate. Not that it matters, because I'm done for the evening. Even if I'd driven like a competent player instead of a complete idiot, I doubt I'd have even gotten a Top 10. I guess I have to hope the Gr. 4 Corvette won't be completely worthless at Maggiore and Fuji like it's been everywhere else...

As for Nations, Pigzilla isn't fun enough to drive to even bother having an attempt at Nations again tonight, but I'll probably have to do the next round at BMB just to get my DR back up. Or maybe I'll actually try the Supra Cup for once to see if I can get some DR back.

After not much practise i decided to try my luck with ther Alfa in Manus. Only got 19th out of 20 :)

So from there on the battle begun trying to keep fuel and tyres in check.

Had some fair battles also and all in all i enjoyed it.

If only id practised a bit more and the car had some more ponnies :)

Was hoping to gain a lot of points at Suzuka, to make up for several weeks of mistakes and missed opportunities. And things did appear to be going my way initially. From a disappointing qualifying session and starting in 15th, I made it to 7th quite easily and without hitting anyone, largely due to several accidents at Turn 1 and throughout the S Curves. I pitted behind another 911 to change tires early for the Hards, before changing to Mediums and refuelling for the final stint. I fell back to 12th from all the pitting, but made it as high as 7th again, only for tragedy to strike, as the same Porsche ahead of me crashed out into the sand at the end of the S Curves. As they re-entered the circuit their car suddenly un-ghosted, despite them moving at a crawling pace. Having already dialled in the steering and throttle I could do nothing but watch as I hit their front, and bounced off into the opposite sand pit, losing 7 places and my clean race bonus.

Some words were said, and I went into damage control. A few laps ahead, an online friend of mine decided to block my every move with their Mazda Atenza, despite their lack of pace and my flashing lights (and the occasional rear bumper tap). At this point I was short on patience, nudging them wide on the entrance to Spoon on the next lap, as I continued to carve my way back through the field. But it wasn't enough, and I could only manage 7th.

Adding to the disappointment was the tepid reception in the post-race lobby from the Mazda driver, who promised to return the favour. Although given my experience with GT Sport these last few years, that seems almost inevitable. I had wanted to congratulate the other Porsche driver on what had been a clean race until the incident, and point out that it wasn't their fault that the game prematurely un-ghosted their vehicle, but they'd already gone.

Second try at both races turned out much better. I had to deal with a work issue after my first try at both races so I forget which slots these ended up being. Slot 2 Manu and Slot 3 Nations, I think.

Not a lot to say about the Manu this time except I qualified P4 and finished P4. I'm still not all that happy with Jaguar right now and will probably still jump ship when I can.

Nations, I completely biffed the qualifier and started P20. Well, P19 after someone disconnected. But I did much better in the actual race. The only real incident came at the chicane of the final lap but the guy who hit me gave the position back and I finished P6. I don't know if 13 positions gained is a record for me but it has to be real close. And I'm actually really starting to like this Gr 3 Nissan. It really is something to overtake someone and watch them just fade away in the sunset.

Disconnected again :(. That’s 3 disconnections in my last 5 FIA attempts this week, all mid-race. This time on lap 16 at Sardegna while running in 4th place. Bummer, that race was really fun.

it happened twice at Interlagos on Daily C this week too. Not sure what the issue is. My connection quality always shows as excellent.

Wasted the entire day. Six races, dismal qualifying in five of them, never got into a position to gain any points in either championship. Embarassing all around.
I did that 2 weekends ago because I thought based on the leaderboards I'd be abnormally quick in the Lambos at Monza, and I also didn't realize how truly awful the Gr. 4 Corvette was when I tried to drag it kicking and screaming into at least a Top 10 result. Did 6 races and had nothing to show for it. I almost did it again tonight, but realized that I'd run out of talent for the day (Nations), and that my car was just too slow at Sardegna to realistically expect enough points to actually cancel out any of my previous races (Manufacturers). I still wasted 2 of each race though (1 was a disconnect, which I hadn't had in forever) and cost myself almost 5k DR.

The RCZ Gr3 is worthless, given any other car tonight i was a full second slower in the RCZ. Just standing still on the straight, complete joke when the car in front of you pulls away while you're in their slip and 2 more pass you by. First race I made a few small mistakes last place. 2nd race was flawless and I got last place as well.

Nations on the other hand, given an even playing field I posted up 4th in the 1.5 split lobby for 254pts (top 16 not included) had some pretty fun passes in one of the other slots as well

Some of the fun stuff:

My adventures of late moved me from B (this is the guys @TRL LIGHTNING finds embarrassing slow) to D, and holy cow, i know how Lightning must feel now, i almost felt like a real fast dude. Did a SOLID qualifying with a 13th spot thanks to getting roughed up by 2 players having fun trading paint.

And naturally i didn't even make it to the Senna S's on the first lap before i was murdered and shown back to the 16th place.. that didn't stop me from having a great race even though i met a few.. shall we say "fresh" drivers, but was lucky enough to hand everything back to them..
How did i do? The title gives it away i guess.. enjoy the replay, with time stamps for easier enjoyment..

I had a hilariously terrible time yesterday in Nations. I messed up my first qualifying lap and then cut the chicane trying to get a good run for lap 2 and got a 1 second penalty. Starting 20th I wondered if you could jump straight into the pits to get rid of the hards. You can't. After a voluntary drive through all I had to do was complete one lap on hards without spinning. I couldn't. Finished 15th in the end.

Tried again later using the R8, qualified 4th and stayed there most of the race. I had a GTR 0.3 behind approaching the back straight, all he had to do was slip stream past me with the extra speed. So of course he just punted me off on the way into the long left hander. There was a big enough gap for me to easily get back for 5th.

I didn't even get into a Manufacturers race.

Hi all. What is the correct procedure to stop this happening again please, if any exists ?

Last night in the FIA Manu EMEA 58K DR final slot, 1 driver, using their alt / ramming PSN account, intentionally caused multiple crashes in quali and race, then sent abusive messages to those they had rammed.

The penalty and ghosting systems did nothing. Damage worked though !

This is obviously unacceptable, but there is no obvious method to me of stopping it, without knowing their main PSN account that they care about. Even then they can just make a new account.

Any ideas ?

The abusive messages were the easy part, simply reported and deleted using the tools provided.

The hours of time committed to preparing for and waiting ages for the race, will never be recovered. All because of one person’s self confessed actions.

Thanks

After this first round of Manufacture races. I saw where we will be able to switch manufacturers agian. With loss of first round points if we change...say we stay with Aston..but want to ditch the DBR9 and go with the reg. Gr3...do we still lose our points even though we resigned with same Manufacturer...??

One happy bunny last night!:D

EMEA

Nations, Suzuka

Slot 1:

Highlights (6 minutes):

P15 start, lost places due to being severely held up by 2 drivers who clearly couldn't drive their cars at pace!. The Russian, I have had problems with before, more than once. Struggled with the Hards on Lap 1. Struggled on the Mediums too, just before pitting. On Lap 6, the Russian was on my tail and constantly hitting me, so I started brake-testing him to send a message. Finished P15 for 30 pts after putting the Austrian Beetle off in front of me. I couldn't surrender the place as the timer ran out, but he gracefully accepted my apology.

Slot 2:

Highlights (7 minutes):

Yes! Qualified P2. Easy win in the end. Fastest Lap, CRB and 72 pts for the win. Highest score so far, by 9 points.

Manu, Sardegna

Slot 1:

Highlights (7 minutes):

P14 to P6 for 51 pts and fastest Nissan.

Slot 2:

Highlights (9 minutes):

P9 start. A clean first turn too! I was P4 towards the end of the race before taking P3 on Lap 20 of 22. I held on for 73 pts. Best score of the season so far by 9 points. Some nice compliments from my fellow drivers too.

Went back to look at my replay for lap times in Round 7 at Sardegna... to compare to others' races that I peeked at during the evening. Looks like I have the consistency part down, just need to work on the pace now! And it looks like I nailed the tire overlap between S/M just right. Last lap on Softs was almost identical to the best laps on Mediums. (9S/12M/1H)

Even had two identical laps in sequence during the second stint.

I really like that track. I only started playing GTS at the holidays, and this was one of the first tracks I raced online on. The funny part is, I had completely forgotten it, and was confused by the recent Nations race that ran it backwards, along with the Dailies that ran on the alternative layouts. About 1/3 of the way through my one simulated race run, it clicked: "oh, I know this track" and it was like remembering a dream all the sudden. Everything came back to me and I had my bearings again. Weird how that works, but when you are first playing this game, there's a lot to take in.

North America

Nations

Slot 1:

Highlights (7 minutes):

Started P4 and quickly into P2. I had a great initial battle with @crasherror who sportingly let me pass him as I was clearly faster on the straights. Unfortunately for him, something went wrong (controller - I've sent him a message to find out) because I passed his car later as it was coasting against the barrier before he disconnected. I took the lead and ended up with a 16 second gap, and had so much time after my final pit planned stop that I was able to come in again 2 laps from the end for a 'security pit' for fresh Softs, still winning by over 11 seconds. P1 for 79 pts and fastest lap.

Manu

Bit of a disappointment when compared to the rest of the day, but I couldn't improve on my current lowest counting points score of 71 as the Porsche was good, but not good enough in my hands.. I actually scored the same 71 points in Slot 1 but went again as it would be discarded anyway. Didn't improve. But happy with the day's performances overall.

The way I read it, the act of un-signing and re-signing will wipe your old Manufacturer points. But I doubt we'll know for sure until someone actually does it.
