16:00 EST Nations Race - Suzuka

For whatever reason, I never seem to feel right on Suzuka. I decided I would use the META GT-R after testing it and the 911 RSR. I felt faster in the RSR but felt more confident in the GT-R.

I enter with 14 on the door. I end up qualifying 8th. I decide I am going with a 3M/1H/6S/6S. Everything starts well and stays uneventful through my stops. No fuel until I put on the softs. I fill up then. I gain some spots and come back in for my second set of softs. Eventually I am in 6th when I come out on those new softs on lap 11. Coming out of T11 (Hairpin) I on the left and side by side with a Mustang that has been honing around the whole race. He veers left just a bit (I think accidentally) and now I am in the grass. I try to coax it back on the track but somehow graze thew wall, spin out, and end up in the sand on the right side.

I am down to 15 by the time I get headed in the right direction again. I pick off a few folks and end up in 11. Not a bad race but surely should have been around 6 or 7...

17:20 EST Manufacturer Series: Sardegna B

I thought I would be competitive here in the AMG GT3. I start with 8 on the door in this one. After feeling good about qualifying, I end up 17th.
I decide on a 3H/5M/7S/7S. The original plan was only 1 on hards but I got a good start and made some headway from people crashing and picking up penalties mostly on T1 that kept my pace and went with 3. The race was mostly uneventful. When I came in for the first set of softs, I filled up again.

Finally only 21, I notice that there is a NSX steadily catching up. On lap 22, at the left hander after the penalty zone, he take the inside and taps me. Not enough to put me in the dirt but enough to slow my momentum. I catch him right before the final kink. He pulled over to let me by and have my spot back. I told him I appreciated the gentlemanly racing move but I thought he made a good move and just got a little loose. I don't those things if I perceive it to be heated racing and not malicious bumping.

I told him so after the race. he said he felt bad because he slid in to me...nice guy!

Anyways, I bring it home in 9th which I thought was pretty good!

On to the next ones!

The way I read it, the act of un-signing and re-signing will wipe your old Manufacturer points. But I doubt we'll know for sure until someone actually does it.
You may be right...but way I understood it was everyone would be unsigned..after R1...and if you resigned with a diffrent manufacture then your points would be Forfit for R1...i just wanna dump this leadsled DBR9.. what a pig in the corners...fast yes..but a pig non the less..lol

Didn't end up participating yesterday because I didn't get back home until late. I'm definitely a lot lower in the Nation's cup than I'd like/I know I could be in, and it looks like the next three rounds aren't going to be very strong choices for me, so I wish I was able to compete last night because I felt good with the GT-R/Suzuka combo. I'm not sure how I feel about this Miata TC race because, well, every Miata TC daily race I've been in has been chaos. I'm sitting well and pretty in Manufacturer's though, and the last three races look like they won't be too bad for Porsche.

Only one test lobby for the Nation's Cup was up tonight and it hardly got filled, so guess I'll have to practice more tomorrow night. No need to fuel save at all for this one, and the tires held up really well. I didn't really notice a drop-off in performance until around lap 10, and even then it wasn't too severe, by lap 15 I'd say I was losing around 0.5-0.8s of pace compared to when the tires were fresh. What BB are people using? I used BB 2 (towards the rear, forgot if that was positive or not).

Fuji Speedway... oh my... If there is a track that I never got the right flow and rhythm gotta be Fuji. For some reason I just don’t have fun there... still weighting whether or not to race this time. - Will try some practice laps today and see...

I always hated this track as well, but I'm much better at driving it in GT Sport than in any of the previous games. At least it's not the version with the chicane...

I am also debating running it though. The Gr. 4 Corvette is going to lose out to the more nimble cars in the last half of the lap, while simultaneously not being able to outrun them on the front straight...

You could insert Gr 4 Jag here.

I signed with Audi on the alt, and the TT Cup netted me a lap (the second lap I ran with it) that was over a half second faster than my best Jag lap. I had 3 miles on the Audi prior. I have 600 miles on the Jag just from this season. Sigh.

It's not like the Jag will even be that much better on tires.

I love Fuji, too.

Then it comes as no surprise that Jag is last and Chevy is 3rd from last in the global rankings...and in North America those results are swapped. Although I'm liking the Gr. 3 Corvette, and aside from Sardegna, it's given me good results each time I race with it. It really comes into its own on low tire wear races.

Doing a decent lap time with some mistakes that I point out as learnings.

Nice one! After a long hiatus I'm back cornering. And because this video I choose McLaren.
p.s. Do I hear Swedish accent in the video? 👍
Swedish indeed, but live in Texas since many years! I see you are from the brother nation Finland!

Started P2. Got P1 due to the leader running wide at T3.
Was running my own race with P2 & P3 having a battle. P3 makes the pass and is catching me. We exchange places a couple times. I let P2 get ahead into T1 so I can just run clean to the finish.

Into the hairpin, P3 thinks the opening is an opportunity. No, it's the line I've been taking to keep pace with P1. I get hit and 1 second is awarded to me.
P1 is able to bolt away.

Lap 9, I pit because I'm done. Wound up catching P2 from 11 seconds to 3 seconds, at the line.

This is what I hate most, pure stupidity. When all these idiots gonna learn when and how to overtake... I guess never, once they born idiots they die beign idiots;)
Question: you pitted beacause you want to, not have to?

Yeah, I typed I was "done". We lost pace to P1 after I got hit. Decided to pit instead of getting angry.

When I left the pits, I still had about 7 second gap to the car behind me. Instead of working together, with half the race left mind you. Why risk it?

I just had my go at the Nations, trying to redeem myself where I threw away a 115pt position to end up with 90 by running wide all on my own 3 turns from the end. Took a couple of laps to get it smoothed out. Went and qualify P6, my best yet. Race gets going and the front 5 of us clear a big gap after p5 spins into the wall, so I am hanging tight in p5 now.

Guy up.ahead keeps sliding, which gets me alongside. Every time I get alongside he side barges me if he is on the inside and runs me onto the grass on turn exit. He leaves me alone if I am on the inside. I pass him once, he drafts back by when I screw up the track rejoin slightly. Couple of laps later he does it again, screws turn 1, 2 and 3, I take the inside into the hairpin and he ignores me, but keeps me narrow, leading to me back on the outside of the double lefts but with me about 70 pct in front. I keep it in there leaving him room, he runs me to the grass. I manage to keep it on his tail and make my move on the outside after the flying bravery right in the middle of the infield. Stupid. He taps me back onto the grass and I get a 2 second penalty.:banghead::mad:. Umm, yeah, I raged, made a wild cut up the inside of the double lefts, get alongside the inside of the track rejoin and simply rub him off on the wall. He drops to p10, after my penalty I am p6. After that I get back close, make a clean move when one person serves their penalty, next person I just pass on the first sector, they decide to take either a massive lunge and out brake themselves . . . or they were aiming for me. I think they just out braked, but I watched them sail by and closed in but couldn't latch on to the lead 3.

Came home p4, best points total yet. Got one in the 3 digits with 106. Great outcome, good racing, not exactly proud of the punt, but after getting pushed off and seeing them really trying to work the penalty system I think they earned it. I gave them chances. Now to cool off and figure out how ugly tomorrow will be in the Jag.:yuck: I used to really like that car.
👍
Good luck to everyone else playing fair!:gtpflag:

Enjoyed my one week break from FIA races but back to it today. The Mazda TC race was very subdued, total opposite from what I was expecting. Qualified 13th and came 13th. I was planning on doing more slots but wasn't sure of improving from the first race so opted to do some painting for the Bathurst race on Sunday.
Also just realised that I had planned to do the Fuji race tomorrow so did some practice there.
All going along very nicely at the moment. :)

EDIT : Any strategy tips for tomorrow?

A few things for tonight

1. Make sure you get a tow from someone in qualifying (and make sure that person doesn't bail on their lap)
2. Start near the front and don't drop out of the slipstream. If you do, your race is over
3. You will probably get a penalty you don't deserve

That is all

I have a practice room up for Nations tonight. Apparently you can't limit the car, so I've set it to the correct power and weight.

That hasn't stopped one thunder**** lapping in an RCZ and then demanding I change the lobby settings to 50x fuel and the cars to Gr.4/Gr.3 because he only does that.

I get a kick out of these people, they usually want RSS tires too.
