Bathurst:

- Started 15th
- Went into the back of someone who braked too early for turn 1
- Got spun out from someone behind, was 20th and miles away
- Lap , trying to go up the inside of someone at the Chase who's braking diagonally, he takes this badly and tries to run me off the road after it
- Job about in 18th for a bit, end up 16th after some people lose it
- Lap 7, guy comes up the inside of me at the left hander going over the top of the mountain, in addition to getting utterly ****ed here I'm miles away for the next corner and get a 1.5 second track limits penalty as a result

How can I have such a calamitous race when I start 15th and don't go any higher than that?

Wanker wrecked like 5 people through the race. Has now been nicknamed Karen by a number of the people I race frequently.

I think you all should make a point of calling him "Karen the Wanker" every time any of you see him in a lobby.

I'm not sure what to make of this. I though the braking point was at 200 and was completely focused on taking the corner. The other guy braked at 150 and I'm not sure whether it was him taking the corner normally or a divebomb.

He divebombed you. From the second part of the replay when you rewind it to his perspective, it sure looks to me like he intentionally made contact with you. Either to keep himself on the track or to knock you off, I can't tell which but it does look like he made a point of making sure he hit you.

After going out and buying a scirocco last night for the Friday night races I instantly realized just how outclassed the Mustang is in the Gr4 class, wow.. Jumped into a lobby race and I was over a full second quicker high 39s with a mixed pace of high 40s to low 41s with no practice at all.

Spent couple of hours in the Mustang yesterday couldn't get my qualifying time below 41s with a pace of mixed 41s and 42s. I thought I'd race today and at Sardegna but honestly that was demoralizing. That FF car just felt like so much fun to drive compared to how much I have to fight in the Mustang entire race.

Mount Panorama in road car is something I'm neither fast or consistent at, so did not have this round marked for anything special. Qualifying was pretty much as predicated and started 16th. Lined up in the same race as @Ashthebash @ivann and @trevisio

Someone jumped the start causing a bit of carnage to my left but I get through unscathed. Turn 1 was surprisingly clean! At turn 2 Ash gets shoved wide, with the offender getting a penalty but also allowing me to sneak through. By the time everyone has served penalties I've gained quite a few positions. After that I miraculously find some actual consistency and finish 7th for some decent points. I wouldn't say it was a fun drive and to be honest I got lucky but loved the unexpected result!

SR, just people being stupid really. Couple of them tried to overtake me over the mountain??? That and a couple of penalties for being crashed into. Also lost 12k DR after my first manufacturers race somehow?

Ouch! Sorry to hear that!

Im assuming people can mistake setting up corners on the mountain - for mistakes/opportunities. Or when there is a large speed difference that a gap is tempting, and they underestimate their opponents grip/speed. I know I have in much more stable cars :)

Goodluck stay focused!

Not much to say about my two races other than I should have left them alone and waited until midweek!

Nations

This lobby was stacked, @watto79 , @ivann , @T_revisio , wifi password, rodaovento and so on.

Put a solid qualy lap in on my last attempt, think it was a 29.4 and put me 12th. Got off the line well, kept it tidy through T1 and think I was just in 10th on the run to T2 with a Spaniard on my inside, side by side I left him room, he didn't return the favour and pushed me wide dropping me a couple of places. I recovered as we climbed the hill, and three drivers were due to serve penalties. Went past all three (just - someone edged me enough to put two wheels on the dirt on the run to The Chase), kept it in though and kept position. Then the final corner, a few more shenanigans so I dropped to 2nd gear to try and get a better run out the corner but a wheel went on the grass and I speared across the track, losing the places I'd gained.

From there on the race was pretty much a train, a couple of fun moments side by side through The Chase but everyone was clean and in cars tricky to slow down it was fun. Main problem for me was every time I gained a place I immediately made an uncharacteristic mistake, so finished 12th.

Manufacturers

The fears of a wide split were unfounded, this lobby was almost as stacked as the Nations race and also included @Lost Sheltie . Tried to follow an Audi in qualifying but lost it at the esses at the bottom of the hill. After that, every lap I got blocked by people on their out lap. Once straight into T1 and once through the fast esses on what actually turned out to be my best lap, although to be fair the Italian did try to get out of the way, the esses isn't the easiest place to do so.

Starting 17th on mediums, it began ok until I got dive bombed by a Brit in a Ferrari going into the esses at the bottom of the hill, which cost me 4s+ and put me dead last. Pitted at the end of L1, then ran to the end. Pace was reasonable-ish and came in in 16th, at the back of a train of four cars and right up wifi password's trumpet, but thankfully and justifiably(!) ahead of the Ferrari that had me off on L1.

When I first looked at this series of races I wasn't interested until round 3, so at least I've had a run out! (And lost 1k DR)

Feels like it's the people who just hop in last second that do that. They also probably don't know how to drive Bathurst properly and take any gap no matter how small or idiotic.

I just won my very first nations cup race!:gtpflag:
Led from lap 2 until the end. I'm so freaking happy with myself!
I've always enjoyed racing road cars in this game, I think all of my Sport mode wins are with road cars.
Can't wait to see if it'll bump me in the regional rankings.

Manu cup however did not go so well, After qualifying only 15th with the M4 gr4, I tried a no stop strategy with the mediums, but it did not pay off. :banghead:

Stuck to 26k DR. My highest so far but I have been in the 23-26k range for very long.

I have recovered some of my SR, a couple of clean daily races and I should be all good on that front.

Is there any sense entering Manu today with Toyota? Feels so slow there... My best practice lap is 1.39.9 and I don't think I can better it... I'm DR33K

Go for it. From what the other members have been posting from the Oceania/Asian championships, FF cars haven’t been as advantageous as the Top 10 boards where leading us to believe.

Plus lap times mean nothing. It’s all about consistency. Get a clean qualifying lap, and race.

You guys have thoroughly scared me out of running the Bathurst race tonight. Just when I was content with giving it a go and taking whatever happens, the prospects of donating 1000 DR and who knows how many SR, just to run it with little odds to improve on my current FIA standings, doesn't add up. And I don't voluntarily sit out races, ever- I only miss a round when I am not at home. But this may be one to sit out.

It's a shame, as I would like the challenge, but I don't know if the unique nature of this track, with difficult cars to handle, offer anything but a road to horrors based on the reports here so far... as you've pointed out: to run fast, you have to be prudent in the approach to the turns on top of the mountain, but I can see being rammed into the walls and getting the SR hits for idiots' mistakes behind me, and don't fancy running the whole race in my mirror.

Bogus.👎

Literally, can not pass. Especially when trying to capitalise on a minor twitch of the car.

Started 11th. I got a good start, but have to feather throttle due to T1. Of course players run in from behind. Dude that started 2nd, is behind me. Run to T2, I get tapped wide. Recover and again, players from the back have to make it three four wide into every other corner!

I'm in 10th, due to someone serving a penalty. All the way to Lap 4, single file. A slight gap ahead of me is disappearing. I have to be careful of the guy behind, because I know how he drives.

I get a slow exit out of one of the corners. Head to the Chase - seriously, these cars will not allow tight passing and quick cornering. I'm get a love tap on my right rear.

Back to the Cutting and thru the parks sections, here it comes. Just because I'm slowing a bit for the cars ahead, car behind wants to pounce. I get broad sided and sliding down the dipper. From then on, into The Chase, my tyres are toast. Can't pull up even though I'm braking early. Should have pit.
That was Lap 4!
Go around and losing time. My tyres are red. Pit and come out 15th.
13th goes wild at Skyline. Slides into the wall at the dipper. 14th is braking to avoid. 13th still out of control and collects 14th. I go thru. Lap 7.

12th is 4.7 seconds ahead. Lap 8 begins. I shaved 2 seconds by the time we get to Forest's Elbow. Another .6 at the line, going faster than my qualy time. One and a forgetful done.

And as a new low I.got punted twice in qualifying at Bathurst by the same guy. Starting last myself so will be funny if I catch them since they crashed on 2 of 3 flying laps.

Update. It was bad, end result what I expected, but not how I expected it. Started p18, dead last off the pace. After tiptoeing through lap 1 I am p10. Where the field has already split and we are fighting for scraps. Then get pushed wide into the hard left. Pushed into the wall at Mcphillamy, punted at forest elbow, run off at the chase, and a few others over the next 5 laps until I am p17. The faster people apparently dont believe in this clean passing myth. Anyhow. I end up screwing up forest elbow lap 7, and stop dead. I had 1 penalty all race, for cutting the dipper when I got pushed through. Other people ramming off, cutting the chase, nothing. It is a total 🤬 show there. I was dirt slow anyway but that doesnt excuse me getting destroyed like that with no penalties for others.
Brave souls who go for it.

Thus ends my totally 🤬 might of racing. Had some good times in Manu, but punter took away my chance at points.

Good luck to the rest of you out there in EMEA and NA.:gtpflag:

Not doing Bathurst again, a predictable T1 and idiots from there on out totally screwed my DR, Down 47 SR. Should have known really with some people's awareness. That was in an A/S lobby BTW, lord knows what other lower DR lobbies are like.

Maybe I’ll see you on your DR climb :). Till then, go get em!

The mountain race is tempting, but if anyone else is struggling with the end of the straights like I am, it sounds scary!

Race C is Gr1 at Le mans no chicane next week I think, I always go better in anything with downforce. If only it was the SF19, love that thing.

It’s no big deal if it’s not going to increase your standings. Race for the fun of it! That’s what I’m going to do. I never expect to win. I always race just to see how well I might do.

There is no will or will not, there is only try (paraphrased to fit the discussion)
