Nice Manufacturer's Cup today with this epic full lap of punting from a Star Player! Thanks mate, good waste of a day. Absymal behavior for a competent player in my opinion. Was pretty stoked to have nearly a full race of 1:41s in traffic but it was all for naught.

wow what a baby. I wouldn't call him competent by any means. If he was, he would have known you were along side of him and had the right to that apex. He either didn't know you were there, or he did and turned in on you anyway, then proceeded to throw a fit about it until he wrecked several innocent people. Honestly this behavior is pretty common in the mid to high DR-A lobbies...lots of people on the verge of A+ and I guess that makes them desperate even though the rating doesn't mean much. I've been clawing my way back up to A+ from a DR reset recently....and it hasn't been fun. Qualifying on pole is typically my only hope to not get sent to the shadow realm.

Manufacturers Cup was going well. Qualified 12, worked up to 9th with a plan of no stopper.

But then got in to this racing incident.

Whos fault was it? I am biased obviously, I think I gave enough space.. but after the race I feel like I should have backed off. Would have finished in top 10 if I gave up that battle.

Edit: I agree with you guys, I should have backed off. Lesson learned.

I know you've accepted responsibility but yeah it was you! Side by side like that you need to remember that you might not be able to take a corner at the usual speed. It's not like you deliberately drove him off the track, it's just an error of judgement. By keeping your foot in you were always going across the track risking contact and when they get a run on you like that, discretion is often the better part of valour

Thanks for sharing that video, I've been in quite a few lobbies with that driver but I've never had to actually race against them, which looks like a lucky thing. I always seem people yelling at them in the post-race lobby, so looks like I'll be steering clear of them if I ever get matched with them again.

Between him and his buddy running around on multiple accounts with 40k DR ruining people's races. I keep getting matched up with these idiots. That's three Gr4 races in a row I've had problems each time they are in lobby. Straight chaos between a few of them.

I was told that guy and his buddies used to go around dailies calling themselves the enforcers, lol... sound like a bunch of griefers off rdr.

Watching the video it looked to me like he made several mistakes that lead to more aggression/lack of concern for you DR/finish.

not saying that’s OK by any means, just trying to give the benefit of a doubt :)

He is a fast driver but has a temper. I've had one race with him where we had some clean side-by-side battling (Alsace I think) but it seems like every other time he's in my lobby he's either ahead or behind enough that we don't interact. But most times in the lobby chat afterwards it seems people have some words about his driving.

Alsace was the race I was up front running 5th when his buddy sent me and himself into outer space, lol. Took us both out of the race, watched replay to see if he had just made a mistake, nope. Full throttle into my rear end.

Done some testing for Nations in the McLaren F1. It is pretty competitive, if a little tyre hungry. The Aston V12 Vantage was very popular, and it's a rocket down the straights, only really started to catch it in the F1 at the end of the first main drag so I thought I'd have a bash in that... quarter of a second quicker on average. Also easier to drive, better on its tyres and uses a little more fuel so you end up with a lighter car at the end.

The McLaren can stay in the garage for this one

Yes the F1 feels good to me and I’m consistent with it. I tired the META cars but can’t get into 29s like the F1

People wonder why I sometimes have a temper flare up lol. Basically I’ve developed a whole driving style of tight lines because of this and also some tracks aren’t very fun to race because of it imo.
There’s quite a few uncaring multi account jerks in these ranks, and it’s frustrating because they are good at recognizing opportunities to drag others down into the mud.

There isn't a lot in it, and when cars are that close it comes more down to preferences and how you drive the car. I've done quite a few laps around there in the F1 today and it took me all of three laps in the Aston to beat my best time. I'd like to use the F1 but an overall difference of 5s+ for the race is far too much for me to ignore (when I usually only get one go at an FIA race)

As a Brit it's nice to see the V12 Vantage as the go to car for the nations round at the red bull ring, also its a car I really enjoy driving anyway. A few cars on the leaderboards are using the Huracán but you know it's the Huracán and trys to kill you on every corner, especially on the hards.

I did some testing yesterday for the Nations race to figure out which car I'm going to use. I've narrowed my choice down to the V12 Vantage and the Lexus. Still not sure yet which I'm going to use. I haven't use either one that much so either way it will be fun to try something new. I'm a little faster on a single lap in the Vantage, but I'm much more consistent in Turn 1 with the Lexus, which is a corner I still have trouble with at Red Bull, and that could be key over the course of a race. Both cars feel pretty comfortable around this track.

No-stop vs. one-stop wasn't that different for me. I can go about 9 or 10 laps on the Mediums. I will likely start on hards so that no-stop is an option, but make a decision somewhere in laps 9-12 about switching to mediums if it looks like that will help based on how the race is going.

Well the RBR is going to really teach me about trail braking and lightly braking. Per @Mistah_MCA 's suggestion in his guide I took the Viper and V12 Vantage for a spin and while both felt nice, I felt the Viper had better brakes and turn-in, but was more prone to sliding, while the Vantage was more stable, and under braking/trail braking I felt like I could get "more" out of it if I braked correctly compared to the Viper. So, since I don't want to spend all day just trying to settle on a car, I'll go with the Vantage.

Been thinking of what kind of livery to use for it, since I usually try to run a livery from one of the obscure video game series that were a part of my childhood, and since it's British and kind of old but has been upgraded/useful, I think I'll make a UPEO Typhoon-themed livery from AC3.

Edit: Completed livery.

I actually think everything is a possibility for this race, even a two stopper starting on mediums. While it's probably not the quickest in ideal circumstances, if you're near the front you can pit relatively early and get a good second stint done on mediums, undercutting the cars ahead and opening up a big gap. Maybe enough to still be ahead after throwing the hards on

I think there will be plenty of different strategies flying around, usually makes for a good race. Best strategy though is stick it on pole and drive off into the distance... I'm yet to execute that strategy in an FIA race!

I have absolutely no idea what to do for this one. Seriously debating just heading for le mans again. Currently running in bottom bracket of SR S due to some bumps in race C so not thrilled about looking at the Red Bull Thunderdrome in that sort of lobby. Decisions decisions.

I’m excited to be participating in my first two FIA races over today and tomorrow!

We’re back in ‘lockdown’ in Melbourne, so I thought it was a good time to schedule these races in over the next few weeks.

I figured I would stick with the Mustang for Nations Cup today, as I’m quite familiar with it. I’ll run two liveries (not my work) based on my childhood to celebrate: my favourite Lowndes livery and one I had as a slot car.

Did some practice laps around the ring all on Hard tires:
Vantage 1:30:6xx (13 laps)
Viper 1:30:8xx (5 laps)
Porsche-911 1:31:9xx (4 laps)

Vantage has great turn in and all around feel, got used to it. Viper felt a bit boring to drive but theoretical best lap was 1:30:4xx, so fastest out of all 3. Porsche is my all around go to car so just wanted to try it.

Not sure how the vantage and the viper are on tires. But will start the race on Hards and go from there.

Disclaimer: I am a DR B driver, dont take my times too seriously

Well, hope everyone have as squeaky clean and I'm talking Mr Bubble in your tubble, Mr Clean squeaky clean!

Tight qualifying. I started behind the Atenza and it had a bit of a slip up slowing for the RSR at T2. We all stayed clean and safe. After I went by the Atenza, just stayed on the RSR.

I wasn't pitting until the leader did. Big Lex was stable, fast, and ev n tyre wear across all four. Amazing!

Vantage pits Lap 9. I pit. RSR soldiers on. Vantage took another set of RM. I chose RH. Came out behind the Supra. We both pit next lap. I throw RMs back on, Supra selects RM.

RSR pits next lap for RM. It comes out behind us in some traffic. I'm faster than th Supra and as it's letting me by, the RSR is around 2.7 seconds back.

Between numb trigger finger and a needy cat meowing and rubbing on my back and right arm, I'm losing concentration. Next, a family friend bangs on the door. Noone else in the house hears it. I yell, "GET THE DOOR!".

When I get back to focusing on the race, the RSR is tailgrabbing my hindparts! Shoot!

It didn't force anything, but I had to give up. My rythym was off. Gave room at T1. It passes, I semi cutback to show I still have some fight. RSR chooses the inside line and I don't press too hard. Stay outside and give some room.

Supra and Vantage pit on the last lap. Vantage comes out 5 seconds ahead. Supra a bit behind me.
Minded the gap to the RSR until the finish. There were lots of Congratulations and Thanks for the clean race posts from all the players I could see.

A race to be savoured. Good replay to watch.

Managed a reasonably clean run on race C to clear up SR. Reward is the highest lobby I have ever seen in FIA. Starting last. Not much, but best qually time in practice has me only p13 anyway. Adventure time.

Edit. Not too bad. I decide to 2 stop. Pit lap 1 to get rid of Hards. Now 6 seconds behind everyone. End of lap 3 it is 2 seconds. Manage to get up to p13 by lap 10 when I pit again. Come out p18, work my way back to p13 by lap 15. Even got a pack of 4 about 1.4 in front. And my consistency goes away. Start sliding, missing the line on the final 2 turns. Cook my tires, get a 0.5 (twice) and drop back to p15. But all clean on my end. Pretty happy with my driving as well. Beat my qually time on clean air in lap 3 :banghead: but otherwise was consistent 30 high, low 31s all race. Even got a sexy (but not counted) 69 points.

Not a bad race. Mix and match of pit stops strategies.

Good luck out there and keep it straight everyone.:gtpflag:

Really should have used the Aston in slot 2, Merc is decent but just doesn't cut it here (unless you know it like the back of your hand), you lose a few tenths in a straight line. Finished P6.

Third slot I went from P9 to P3 after starting on Hards, avoided the carnage and kept up with the field after they wasted seconds battling each other.

It was an adventure but didn't improve on my points tally.

Classic. Network error on matching. Wondering if I should bother waiting an extra hour and go to bed slightly later than planned. Or practise for tomorrow.

Edit: holy ****

Glad I stayed up! Out did yesterday’s practice laps by about a second for qualifying, and far better than anything I was able to do today beforehand - I was really struggling with finding any rhythm!

Qualified 4th when I was planning to be on the back of the grid (granted B/C field, but do feel that I’m probably more of a C than the B ranking I have), and managed to hold on to 2nd after having a bit of a spin and losing a bit of my flow towards the end. Pretty ecstatic!
