21:00 Nations Cup: Red Bull Ring

Well that went better than it should have! I take the META Vantage and enter with 20 on the door. I end up qualifying 17th but only 1.150 off of P1. I decide to start on hards. By the start of lap 2, I am P11. People are going off left and right and picking up penalties everywhere. I was wary of the car since I never felt like I was in a groove with it during qualifying but I pressed on.

I am P6 when I decide to pit on lap 14 since the cars behind me kept gaining time. I come in and put on a fresh set of.....hards! For some reason I have a brain freeze and don't pick the mediums. So I come back out P11 and have a battle with a two other racers in Astons. We trade some spaces and all respect each other's space. We even take a few corners side by side but don't bump. It seemed that my fresher hards were better than their mediums. I eventually put a small gap between us as they were unable to keep pace and come home P9. The best part? I actually got some keepable points out of it! I was not expecting that!

See you out on the track!

Slot 3
Thanks to the slipstream, I qualified on pole with a 28.5. I didn't do that time on my own even in TT, so slipstream was very OP. I felt like I could have won that race, but a guy tried to pass me in the left handers at the end of S2 and left me less than a car width, causing me to put a wheel in the grass and spin. With hindsight, I should have definitely backed off earlier to avoid risk, but I didn't expect him to run me out of room so unnecessarily, so I dropped from the lead to 13th. Eventually recovered to 7th. Gutted because those 191 points would have been my best ever (I was door 20), but congrats to @Razgriz2118 on his great victory!!

Slot 4
Decided to go again. This time, was 3 tenths slower in qualy as I couldn't do any laps in a slipstream, but still managed P2 on my own.

Lap 1 I was hit into T1, not sure how I saved it from spinning but it dropped me to P4. And a canadian in P6 outbraked himself and killed all of us ahead into T2. 5 cars involved in the chain reaction. 🤬
Hit from behind was so hard, I even picked up engine damage, so was a sitting duck for 30 secs, dropping to P8. Even with all that, I found myself fighting the canadian who ended up winning in the end, so I could have still won, but the guy behind me went for a massive divebomb into T3, had to avoid turning to avoid an accident. Finished 3rd, 2 secs behind the winner.

I guess the positive thing is that I don't get to be quite disappointed with a podium finish so often... But I felt like I could have won either slot. Decent points and a good DR increase through.

Wow I was off for this race. Did the second to last slot in the Alpha Aston, car feels good except to me it feels a little light in the back corner exit. Door 9, qualified 15th almost a second off my average practice laps which would have put me 3rd. But in the race i never could get in a rhythm and felt like I was driving slow on hards and a no stop strategy. CJ and a Few other familiar names were in the race and i just tried to let others by without too much of a battle because of my vibe in the race. Oddly a few I was letting by left me no room as they passed, shoving me off onto the grass twice. Another time I held my ground and caused one to spin...i’m like, dude, i’m trying to let you by, but i’m not taking another ride in the grass...Shadow realm you go.
I finished 13th. 94 points I think it was, nowhere near anything usable.

I feel like mediums were faster by quite a bit, certainly enough to make up for the pit stops in hind sight. But I have to work in the morning and I was not wanting to be amped trying to get to sleep. 1 and done.

...good night racers!

You were in my slot 4 I commented above. You were in P9 and was lucky to stay ahead as my engine damage fixed itself just before losing position to you, hehe. And now that you mention him, @CJam was in that race indeed too and after a small mistake he made in T3 (I think he was on hard tyres), we went side by side into the two left handers, I was able to pass round the outside and he left plenty of room, so thanks for the clean racing! 👍

Yeah I was on the hards, didn't want to battle there! Made a mistake later on in T1 that ruined my race. Finished 9th in the end. After having a spin in my 3 previous races couldn't resist one last race.

Got a podium! Best nations result of the season, knew I was fast all night just needed a clean race. Slightly lower split than I was in the previous races but had #9 on the door and was beaten by an S ranked guy. 3rd place was 8 or 9 seconds back, must have been some drama.

Nice seeing all the familiar racers out there! See you back on the track

Ran a second event at RBR in my alt account, this time in my Corvette. Nice clean 2nd (not clean by luck or on account of others— actively had to avoid some divebombs first few laps) in a low B/S lobby. Lost out to a Mustang that was exceedingly fast, the driver whose account looks very odd... looks like maybe he tanks for lower DR to get easier wins? Weird, but he raced real clean, so fair enough.

Finished it in 29:23 which I think would have been top 5 in my main account races, if I was not punted... and in a Corvette, not the META. Felt better having done that.

But the most interesting thing is that After detecting the weird behavior by my brake pedal— I blew it out before this race and then also made sure I was mashing it hard in the braking zones, and it definitely was different. I am sure something was up earlier, because I was able to brake much later this race and never blew thru an apex. It was noticeable, and I feel better that I wasn’t just driving inconsistently. I’m glad I ordered the a Truebrake kit but I’m going to have to look up if there are known issues with the G29 to fix.

that’s a weird one… no resets, but huge tank in DR. He was very fast and clean.

Just did the final 3 slots at RBR.

Attempt 1: Q 6, F8. Needed a Top 5 to score meaningful points.
Attempt 2: Q12, F11. Needed 10th (preferably 9th) to score meaningful points.
Attempt 3: Q4, F2. Needed 3rd to score meaningful points.

In my 1st 2 attempts, I started on Hards before switching to Mediums at the end of Lap 10, and ruined my chances at good finishes by getting silly track limits penalties. In my final attempt I surprisingly qualified 3rd and did the opposite tire strategy and bagged 201 points for finishing 2nd. It was basically a win for me since I knew the actual win would go to @Winnie847 .

I'm going into a huge slide right now (about 5K in 3 FIA races), but that is strange. But how do you zero out on DR and only fall a letter in SR?

Morning! Today Manu race for me is complete opposite than yesterdays Nations. I REALLY like the track, think my pace is good enough to qualify in top 10. Also expecting good points, 100-120 would satisfy me. Only worry is that result also can be totally opossite to yesterdays:) Qualify well and then loose 9 positions:lol: Didnt tested it yet, is it fuelsaver?

Thought aid try next Nations to decide what car Is use. Being in waiting for the ACC GT4 DLC, figured I'd try similar cars we have in GTSPORT.

Now, I first tried the RC F.l for reference. Set a 27second lap. Went again and did a 25.9.
Jumped in the M4. Set the lap at the start of my video below. Looked at the top 10 and since I go against the grain when using FFs, chose the Megane.

As the video title reads, this is just wrong. Look how effortless I'm driving. This is really bad. To lay down a top 10 without even trying. I'm not even a fast player. It's ridiculous.

Went again to see if I could show consistency. Made a mistake, but still blasted my time from the M4. Not cool to be so much quicker.

I would wait until the update tomorrow... Pretty sure there will be a few BoP changes which makes practice times now a bit irrelevant.

Hopefully. The M4 felt real good. I could jump on the gas before apexes and get good speed out of corners. To leisurely beat that with the Megane, was unreal.

As for Nations. *yawn* Posted I was going to cruise around. Set a time. Went out again. Drove around during qualy.
Race starts, went into the pits to be last. Even tried to be last all race. As you can see, I didn't finish last.

Aaaaand we're off. . . . to the back of the pack again. Race C and my inflated DR have me door 19 of 19 in an A and S lobby. Going to be interesting. Couple of wild cards and people with known tempers in it though. Might get a few sneaky positions if I stay with the pack.

So it went ok. Started p18 of 19, all within 0.8 of pole. Played steady and clean, moved up gradually. Get around p14 and I get a 0.5 penalty for nipping the final turn. Fast guy right behind when I serve it at that crappy top of the hill penalty zone. Try to dive in behind but the car I leave room for has a follower I didnt see. I bump them, we wiggle, I stay slow to leave them the spot.

Few laps later I am in a pack right behind that same car, p12 I think, and actually looking to move up. They make a hash of things and get slow so I go around the outside at the bottom of the downhill. Get doored into the wall after 2 hits from person I gave the position back to earlier. Will check replay to confirm it all.

Dropped me a bit, I manage to drag it home p15 and even score about 3 points to improve my score.

Solid enough finish considering the lobby I was in, but oh man it could have been so much more. People were getting run off and revenge punted. Tempers up on this one.

Edit: I checked the replay. Yes I screwed up, but I gave the position back. Yes, they straight out turned into me twice to keep me from passing and spun me into a wall. Time to watch out for them next time.

Good luck all and watch for bombers!
:gtpflag:👍

gotta be honest, they really need to fix the penalty system again. Twice I got punted at Turn 1 in the FIA race and twice copped a penalty for it.

And the guys doing the punting seriously weren't even trying to take the corner. Just out to ruin other peoples race.

Was very fortunate here. Sat in P3 in the tow for 11 and a half laps with no chance of overtaking an 86 and a Megane Trophy until they came together at the bottom of the hill on the last lap. Ended up winning the race for what should be 30 manufacturer points - unfortunately it won't improve Alfa Romeo's total though.

Not ideal to inherit a win like that, but I don't think there was any other way I could possibly have won with this car at the moment. Hoping for a substantial buff tomorrow.

12 laps seems a bit short.

good luck to all
After that marathon at RBR in the Nations race yesterday (and my insistence on running 4 of them), I'm good with a sprint tonight!!

29 minutes is about the longest race so far. 19 laps at that circuit was more than enough!

I really like the Sardegna layout for the Manufacturers race. In Gr4 should be a fun and competitive race.

Definitely! Qualifying for 10 minutes and race only last 15 minutes

Porsche has been running well there
