Just finished third with FL in the R33. D-C/S lobbies are always entertaining.

I feel like qualifying does matter a bit - I qualified 9th, and right behind me at turn 1, there was some kind of multiple-car cataclysm that resulted in everybody behind me falling out of slipstream. The frontrunning pack gradually shrank at every turn: I fell back right before the turns so I wouldn't get annihilated. Only really pushed in the final turn, and it was terrifying, but the seas parted right as the turn ended - an NSX spun out, which spooked a couple of the people in front of me, and I managed to grab third.

Also, a Huayra won!

I never do oval races, but this one seemed too fun to miss.

Qualified P13 (not that it matters here). In the race, I managed to avoid all the crashes and collaborate with others to make our way to the front. Final corner I was the middle of a 3-car sandwich and being squeezed, a bit of contact but we all survived. P3 at the finish, 0.082s off the winner and 168 points which were useful to improve my score a little bit, so I'm done for the day. 👍

I'm not gonna lie: That. Was. A. Blast!

Ran the race at SSRX in my Alt account. Saddled up in the favorite 458.

Got wiped out at end of lap 1, collected in "the Big One" but maybe a blessing: was sent flying straight into the pits. Came out in 12th, recovered a few spots with help from a bump drafter and another accident in the following turn, finished 10th, nearly 9th in a photo finish.

I was feeling good about my chances, and the winner was the guy I was drafting with in qualifying, and he seemed to 'get it' so I was sure I was going to end up at the front if I didn't get taken out incidentally. And that's all that happened, I couldn't even see who hit me as it was all happening behind and beside me while I was holding the wheel straight...

No SR lost! Pretty much no DR impact! Captured points in my Alt account FIA season, which I'm only running in the last 8 events anyway, so I'll need them! Had a blast... gonna try it again next slot. It's really fun... nerve-wracking fun, but fun.

Trying the high line... Homestead/Darlington style...

Wow! Thank you for sharing that. That is very interesting. Your view shows you slowly easing your way to the inside, while mine (I'll post it again here, for comparison) showed you moving down in a much quicker motion.
I wonder how many enemies have been made on the track because these kind of differences of perspectives. :scared:

*Everybody should look at both clips. The difference is noteworthy.

I'm surprised it doesn't come up more often. A couple of years ago a buddy and I rented a house with an extra room we turned into a game room. After playing cod for a bit we did a test. Opened a lobby and started running around. What we were each seeing was noticeably different and at some point in the equation the game engine just makes a decision. So we tested a bunch of games (wow, starcraft, need for speed, a Nascar game we both had) and all of them were like that when you actually put 2 machines side by side and watched.

Sooo I didn’t get my regular 13th in Nations, I had 18th all to myself. Went with a yellow Aventador. Q18th and caught up with the pack at precisely the wrong time - at the top of T1 L2 heading into the curve. Laughing like a mad scientist because I knew what was about to happen. Was up to P7, surrounded by a Ferrari escort. Then it happened... I got hit by #13 and it was pretty much game over. I had to laugh at that. Was exhilarating while it lasted!

DO. NOT. USE. THE. HUAYRA.

I qualified 11th and first of the non-Ferraris (there were 3 of us), and got passed by every Ferrari once we got up to speed. On pace I would've finished 18th because this thing tops out way too early in the draft while everyone steams away with plenty of extra top end. I somehow got 10th place because of wrecks, but the only reason I didn't get involved in any accidents was because they were all waaaaaaaay in front of me when they happened. I literally lost the slipstream while being right behind everyone just because of this car's non-existent top end. I would've had better pace in the Alfa Gr. 4 car...

Well that was something. Got wrecked maybe 300m before the line in quali so I gridded 18th out of 19, whole field decided to weave right and left for the first kilometer, some of the grid lost the slipstream and I blew past, then a yellow flag came out, I drove straight through a ghosted car that was caroming off one wall toward the other, and some slow cars were weaving to block :irked: but then suddenly I was right behind the front pack heading into T1. I did my best to sit back from the pack for most of the race to minimize danger, there was another wreck on the back straight of L2 and I made my move a little late to join the scramble for clean track before the finish, where I picked up one spot on the line for 9th, could've easily been more, but at least not double digits!

I almost used it, but went with the Aventador instead. I'm not sure it was better. I was only able to catch the back because there was a bit of fighting. Those Ferrari's took off! There was a Huarya in my race that qualified 1st and due to a series of unfortunate events it came in 19th. And the guy that Q19th, ended up winning.

So there I was, feeling pretty happy about getting past a bunch of cars on the last turn of lap 1. But guess what I had completely forgotten about?
The damn pit wall! I didn't notice it until the very last second, and it scared the 🤬 out of me. :scared: Sooooooooo lucky.
Now wonder nobody else was that low. :dunce:

They've set this race up wrong without a doubt. Having a car that drops off the pack even in a slipstream is totally wrong, and having a META allowed of bump drafting in a queue is also wrong.

It could and should have been a total lottery, but get a few 458s and get in line - job done

Second race: total waste. Didn’t make it thru turn one. Got wiped out in qualifying so started at back. My plan was to stay low in turns and avoid the messes that was out up on the guardrail. So much crap in front of me, right was driving thru the haze and ghosting like Cole Trickle until someone who was at the front of it all respawned right in front of me. Game over. Sucked.

It did not turn out that way for me...

Well, I rolled the dice and got a meh result.

Qualified 4th. The lineup was 18 458s, a Huayra, and a Skyline R34. My strategy was to just stay on the outside during the turns and at the very least, that kept me alive. On the final turn, I was in 10th and was starting to build momentum to make some last second passes, but a wall of cars suddenly formed and I had no choice but to hit it.

Here’s the highlight of my race. I was fortunate enough to witness a pit lane fatality and I had to not lose control of my car from laughing so hard.

But yeah, not testing my luck anymore with this. My DR went up a tiny bit, so I can't complain when things could have been a lot worse. However, this was a nice change of pace in the FIA season. I don’t mind unusual races on occasion such as this and that one round several months back with the RX-7 drift car.

I BARELY survived slot 1. The death process started on turn 1, lap 1. I was in 16th when it happened between 1st and 2nd places, so I had some time to react. I almost got through The Big One, except someone unghosted right in front of me. I hit them, front tires and bumpers were damaged. I then get mega punted by someone behind (had nowhere to go), so now my back bumper and tires were damaged. Luckily, I was able to barely catch up to the lead pack, but finished 10th. Gained 300 DR.

How I barely survived, I will never know. I got incredibly lucky since all of this happed in the middle of the turn.. If I go again, I won't be so lucky, so I called it a day.

I'm telling, that race at SSRX is about as fun as anything I've done... when people are cool and know what's up. Third race was a fantastic Qualifying and Race experience... drove the engine in a qualifying train with the pack that got the front positions for the start. All very smart and good sports.

Race was intense... couldn't seem to maintain the lead spot on the outside line, fell to the back of the lead pack, avoided several close calls... moved inside for turns 3 and 4, and rode a last bit of momentum to a fun 6th place. This race was nearly won by the guy I drafted with in the qualifying session (whom I couldn't get hooked up with again in the race for all my trying)... he finished 2nd by 0.001!! It doesn't get any closer than that!

I may try it again in my main account... it's just too damn fun and I hope that people with higher DR have figured it out by now...

I'm glad PD decided on a change-up like this... I needed a break anyway, and this was a completely different experience. As close to NASCAR racing at Talladega as you could get. So much fun.

Good luck in the 'normal' race at RBR tomorrow!

(PS: anyone else keep thinking the last turn was the third turn?! Kept bracing for the chaos then realized it was still another half a lap!)

Finish of my race: 0.001 margin of victory...#19 had a run and just pipped #10 at the line by the smallest of margins... amazing.

Red 458 on the outside up front, but couldn't keep the outside line behind me... had to reshuffle to get back to 6th at end.

I almost did that... it's really dark, and on my Alt account I didn't set the contrast/brightness correctly so its REALLY dark. My condolences to the former 458 driver.

Race slot 1: Bump drafted my #1 plated 458 to 8th on grid. Stuck to the back as much I could. Missed 2 major incidents to be involved in a third on lap 2. Took advantage of the draft to finish up in 8th.

Missed slot 2 due to a need to go get dinner and felt this slot to be the best. Highly recommend Jersey Mikes.

Race 3 slot: tried the NSX and Lambo, but went back to the 458 come race entry. Solid 10th grid spot. A few guys who struggled to keep their car in a straight line, but a 5th place and Fast Lap.

I had been humming Southern Rock Hits all day as being in the oval/NASCAR mood. But by this time I was belting out the classics.

Race slot 4: A shift from a high B driver to bottom A driver as a result of the previous 2 attempts was a pleasant surprise. Stuck with the META to a 7th on the grid. Very clean race until we got to the front stretch to start lap 2. Guy bumped me after using my car to avoid going into the pits. rolled home to a 15th. Nice to see @MIE1992 get a podium from a very questionable pole (someone caused a crash at the line and he was really the only to get through).

Race slot 5: Make or break. Probably should’ve called it after race three, but this is fun. 10th on grid with @Trone_Colby and a few others I’ve seen tonight. Had a guy not realize where the pit entrance wall was and entered the shadow realm in a 260 mph head on. Hope all is well with him. The sound scared me to death. Wasn’t 100% sold on the driver quality of this race though. But couldn’t back out one bit given that last race. Missed two big ones. Like half the field collisions. And stumbled home to 7th. 3 top 10s in 4 races. But nothing noteworthy expect that was pretty cool.

Chaotic, as expected. In my opinion, penalties should have been enabled for this race. From the selection of races I've seen, tempers flared and players went on a mission to take out other players because they got their position stolen, which just causes a domino effect as other players get caught by the ones who've lost control due to the takedown said angry player performed.

1st slot was picture perfect. Not many major problems during the race. Almost unbelievable it went without incident...to me anyway. Qualified 3rd, got 2nd, and narrowly missed 1st by .015 seconds. Really enjoyed the super-close finish, and the lobby of players were very respectable!

Missed the 2nd slot.

3rd slot was a complete disaster. Qualified for 7th, got taken out by an aggressive player on the final turn on the first lap, rest of the field was impossible to catch, finished 15th.

4th slot was another great race. Managed to get pole position by a margin, finished 4th. Most of the field got taken out on the first turn of the first lap by aggressive players. Everyone below 7th place finished +15 seconds behind, so it was just a clustered battle between us seven players. No incidents between the seven of us; was a clean but hard-fought battle until the end.

5th slot, meh. Qualified 7th, some aggressive players on the first turn took out some of the field, and most of the race was going good...until right after the final turn of the final lap, where somebody clipped my rear and sent me into pit late...to finish 15th. Lots of players' tempers flared during this race, and the post-race chatlog was full of slandering and blaming.

This Nations Cup was...unusual, and also...surprising, in the fact that a lot of players I encountered seem to have trouble maintaining their driving line on the absolutely huuuuge oval that is SSRX. Too many lane changes, which results in (often race-destroying) contact and inappropriate blame on other players during and after the races. If a slipstream challenge were to return, I would enable penalties to disqualify the players who become too aggressive and/or angry to the point that they felt the need to ruin the race of a dozen other players in their destructive rampage of revenge.

^^^^^^^^
I noticed many guys didn't have the radar on. It is kind of a given here. Like the above said, the lane changing without any real regard was a bit of a nuisance. Guys, it was okay to drop back. More patience was needed by just about everyone.

My Nations luck is in the negative. I did two races thinking I would enjoy some carnage. Nope. Two of the most competent lobbies in the world and I lost almost 5K DR because of it. Really boring.

Thankfully, my Manu season is pretty much finished so it doesn't really matter.

Which slots did you do? Slot 1 had the carnage happen. I skipped out on the other slots, so I'm not sure what happened there.

I ended up using my turn signals for the first time during a race in this race for some lane changes lol

I almost skipped this race, but kept asking myself if any race car drivers skip races during their season. ANSWER, NO. They also don’t call do over and run 2, 3, or 4 reruns, 1 and done it is.

Then I considered my back up account, but there was only 2 slots left and didn’t want to be up at midnight. So I entered the second to last slot totally green with only solo practice laps, never could find a good lobby to do test races.
Qualifying I waited and went out in 19th, looking to avoid carnage and keep a good draft ahead. But carnage was unavoidable and after I got spun by cars doing slides and backflips I lost the draft. Best I could muster solo was 4.29.17 for 14th. My door number was 4....what have I done.

The race went surprisingly clean for me with crashes seeming to always happen higher up the banks while I stayed low. I worked my way up looking to battle for the win in 9th and surrounded by screaming Ferrari’s, some using the shoulder and sidewalks if needed, but no big wreck up front. As we pushed and shoved, bump drafted and fought for draft when they moved ahead, we came around the final turn 11 cars in a clump. I felt little bumps from the sides and back, made some decent moves when they looked good and came across the line 5th with .2 seconds separating 10 cars.

149 points for 5th. This race will end up counting in my total seasons end.
