That's pretty much my plan now but I could possibly have less traffic with either strategy. Also, traffic isn't necessarily bad at BB Raceway due to slipstream (as long as you can take Turn 1 the same way).
Traffic can be bad, it depends on your strategy.
For example, when BB raceway was the daily a few weeks back - there were 2 main strategies going around.
Strategy A, 2 stops, tires/fuel each time, this would require minor fuel management.
Strategy B, 1 stop, tires and fuel, this would require much more fuel management, but was ultimately about 7 seconds faster.
People who weren't aware of these strategies would run all out and have to pit 3 times.
Most people weren't aware they could do strategy B, because only a few cars could manage it while still maintaining a reasonable pace (the new gt.3 lexus was amazing at it).
I was starting from pole all of my races as I was lucky enough to get a time in the top 10 and nobody faster than me raced at the same time, and I was doing strategy B, however the driver starting 2nd was usually doing strategy A. The problem was - I would go just fast enough to stay in front of them, but manage my fuel just enough that once they pit at lap 10/11, I would go to fuel map 6 - and just stretch to lap 15 (out of 30), once I came out of pit I could sit at fuel map 3 for the balance of the race and win it.
Basically, the guy behind me couldn't go fast enough to get around me, but was burning fuel faster than I was, which effectively ruined his strategy.
All I'm saying is - be ready to adjust on the fly, you don't know where you're going to qualify and you don't know what's going to be happening around you. Ovals and oval racing are 95% strategy.
