...could do the warmup in full A+ Lobby and afterwards right before Qualifying i was stuck at FIA Manufacturer Loading Screen...disconnect...0 Points...thx PD

Were you driving in the Porsche's slipstream by chance? I've noticed it has a big effect on downforce and you'll understeer much more than in clean air. Other than that it can then just go down to different characteristics between the cars
No slipstream , around 4 cars length behind.

Yes it was. Such a shame what happened, the Citroen Gr3 usually struggles against the competition but somehow i had good pace and track position to capitalize.

I saw you and FT-Chris hanging out with us at the back there for a few laps, was wondering what happened but you both quickly pulled away!

Also got over a second of penalties on my Q lap, was rather triggered losing pole by a tenth! I did notice in practice runs the lower fuel maps didn't impact on lap time too much, so 0 stop is probably the fastest especially as you don't need tyres anyway.

One question to practice: How do you and others practice for FIA Races with fuel, tires and pit-strategies?
The system in Arcade-Mode is different to the one online. Is there a formula to convert the numbers for tire wear and fuel consumption?
I spent most of my time doing races with tires and fuel off and my biggest problem is to find a good strategy and handle the decreasing grip level. When i do the Dailys C. i´m getting faster after a few races.
But for a one shot like the FIA-Races this isn´t possible.

When I want to practice for an event I set up an online lobby with the exact same settings as the race will be, works well for me

I use the custom race in arcade mode. Don't even see the point of the Sport Mode practice anymore, unless you want to intimidate your competition :D Some people create a private lobby and practice there. In a private lobby you can set fuel/tyre wear multipliers higher than 10 (and you don't have mobile chicanes in the way) but you don't see such big multipliers too often in races.

Maybe it was a bit of mis-wording on my part but I mainly mean how you basically said "look how easily Nik beat these EU (and US) drivers who should be the best of the best since they wen to a live event" while not mentioning the day's other race which was difficult for him. Maybe cherry picking would be a better wording?

Yeah I was trying to say how there's many so VIPs in Europe and the Americas, and not so many in Asia/Oceania (You can hardly get 5 Asian aliens in one Nations Cup race, unless it's a Top 24 Superstars final). It's just that I'm not too fond of the moment in a stream that I find out that you guys get way more points than Nik ever has in the his region. He should be racing with you guys, and I hope one day that PD makes a few events of the Nations Cup where it is available on GTS globally (like a top 30 Superstars Final, 10 best drivers from each region) in game, not like the World Final we'll be having. I mean just average Nations Cup races set a time reasonably suitable for all that everybody can join.

And I'm going quiet because I have a lot on my plate for tomorrow and pretty much all of Saturday too and I don't really have the time to talk in here, not because I don't like it here.

Plus, it's no small feat to get through, let alone win, a race at Le Mans without receiving a penalty. ;)

Qualified second in both races because of traffic, and finished 3rd and 5th. Not too thrilled with the results but not bad results by any means either.

Video time!

I only noticed after watching the Suzuka race that ghosting both helped and hurt me. I avoided a sideswipe but also lost a position I should've had.

Again, had no time to figure out fuel. Was anyone else able to do a no-stopper with the R18?

Global sport mode races would be nice.

But

The problem with this as I see it is ps4 to server latency and its effect on user experience, ghosting, teleporting etc.

The battle for Nissan branded gear is already heating up with the top 4 of 6 being Nissans in EMEA.

Does he ever speak for himself or are you some sort of controllable dummy?

This comes to mind.

Opening up Sport mode globally without region restrictions is now a necessity for the dailies. There are not enough people playing. I am A/S and pretty much all my daily races end up looking like this:

A+
A
A
B
B
B
B
C
C
D

You get the picture. Totally unbalanced. Latency should not be an issue at all since as it stands now you have so many people who use accounts from the other side of the globe for legal or economic reasons that it won't make any sort of difference. There are people in Middle East playing with US accounts. Myself and many others in South America play with our US accounts. You have southeast Asians playing with European accounts. So it is already happening. Taking down the region lock will only make Sport mode races better.

Come to think of it, when I was looking at the top time times made in free practice for one of the FIA races yesterday, over 75% of the leaderboard had usernames with an RT in front of them.

Oh, OK, cool, so it's another one of those episodes. Where a bunch of try-hard "MLG Pro" NEETs who have nothing else to live for but play a competitive game 24/7 (and it's likely the only game they'll ever own/play for their system) to utterly dominate the game because they wanna be the next Faze Clan or whatever. Cool. That sounds like a very fun and fair championship. Wow. Very cool.

Maybe I shouldn't even bother with the FIA championships, and if I wanted to, I'd have better chances becoming a race car driver using the more traditional methods. This doesn't sound fun at all.

(As an aside, wasn't there a preview of a Mazda Roadster championship in a pre-release screenshot? Hopefully there'll be more championships overall, like that, instead of just the big FIA ones. I also saw there was a key on the FIA event calendar where there's a separate dot for the nations and for the makers series, so maybe they won't necessarily be on the same day all the time in the future, maybe even as early as the next season in July since I don't see that month's schedule laid out yet.)

Oh, OK, cool, so it's another one of those episodes. Where a bunch of try-hard "MLG Pro" NEETs who have nothing else to live for but play any remotely competitive 24/7 (and it's likely the only game they'll ever own/play for their system) to utterly dominate the game because they wanna be the next Faze Clan or whatever. Cool. That sounds like a very fun and fair championship. Wow. Very cool.

It's the closely matched and highly competitive fields that make the FIA races fun no matter what level you are. I have a local league going based on the FIA points and we take a % away from A+ and A and add a % to D and C to make it more competitive among us. It's a lot of fun and gives you a realistic goal to shoot for if you're not one of those aliens.

And if I had a clean qualifying like I had planned I would've been around 7 seconds faster than Nik in the Nations Cup race with my strategy. By the way how did his Suzuka race go I wonder? You didn't mention that. Oh that's right, he made mistakes and finished 9th and tens of seconds behind fastest race times. But you know that's completely fine. We all push hard and sometimes make mistakes that cost.

Don't get me wrong though I can see your boy is a good driver, but I hope you understand that your own constant promotion, half-true 'evidence' and unnecessary jabs at people who try to help might just have the opposite effect that you think and actually do disservice to people's views on Nik. I don't know how he himself feels about your 'enthusiasm' (if he knows even) but it would be the first thing I would ask of him if I ever got the chance to meet him in person.

You can see it from here (unless they didn't race yet): https://www.gran-turismo.com/gb/gtsport/sportmode/championship/860/rankings 👍

Then you should have got your clean qualifying... I’m sure Nik would have been even faster if “this” or “that” too. Just appreciate it for what it is.

Maybe tone the promotion and comparison though @K32? Not even gonna lie up until yesterday I thought you were actually Nik just promoting himself in 3rd person lol! Now I just think you printed some photos of him and have them on the wall above your bed and laminated in the shower ;)

It’s awesome that you post the screenshots, I love being able to see that across the regions! But, be careful to consider more than just the time! I can guarantee if he was racing alongside beasts like Lightning and Atho he would not at all be 17 seconds in front... :)

Nik is one of the only guys I have seen actually battle with L Shooter though (in a Suzuki Swift ), so he deserves respect for that! I got the impression that the top Japanese guys weren’t taking it too seriously in the test seasons though, so we will see what happens. Let’s just support all the drivers and the results will promote themselves don’t worry! :)

Watch your words. It sort of insulted me lol, considering I'm in a team. I just want to let you know, by the way, that I have summer school going on plus a capstone project that spans my entire summer. I have to balance studying, the project, and games. Right now I'm lucky since this week I'm relatively free. I also play World of Tanks, Monster Hunter: World, and sometimes MGS V: TPP

Ugh.

Wow how dare people try to be good at a game they enjoy.

Also, you are so wrong about people who have nothing else to live for, and that they play 24/7. So many have jobs every day and families, and hence can only do a couple of hours at a maximum on a day. Just because they have better times than you, doesn't mean they are no-lifers. Don't be so condescending.

It isn't about 'dominating' a game, and being in a 'clan'. It is about wanting to improve and enjoy the game.

Stop being so salty.

Official FIA sanctioned championship turns out to be competitive shocker

Faze Clan or whatever. Cool.

Well you brought COD into this:

He must be so ashamed of playing for 10 hours day...

Anyway, I’m happy to do something 24/7 if I enjoy it. No shame in that.

Yep, I'm definitely going tone it down from now on. Sorry again. :)

I would like to participate but I just cannot adapt to the penalty system with my driving style. Some may think it's aggressive but at the end of the day, I have to respect myself and the game for taking different approaches to racing.
In the real world, if a steward gave me a penalty for a racing incident, unavoidable contact, bumper-to-bumper etc, then I wouldn't want to race in that discipline.

I guess they haven't toned it down for the official championship.
If some people on here enjoy playing it then fair enough, but I find it difficult to. I think that's the problem with e-Sports - it's a great idea but it can possibly ruin the fun for some. I do think PD got carried away with the FIA stuff and haven't really thought about the game as much as they should.
If you're amongst the fastest then you'll probably enjoy it more as there's a better chance you'll face drivers who understand racing. However, if you're still learning to shave a tenth or two (like myself), it becomes difficult to race with some drivers around you
