@Tidgney hey, watched your stream's vod, thanks for the kind words ! I admire your courage to run Peugeot :D

Lately I got pissed by my qualifyings, wasn't even getting my best full tank practice laps and it cost me a lot on some races (Brands Hatch especially, starting 18th with only 8 tenths more than pole, that was a crazy lobby). So for this one, my objective was to get a 02.8 in, I didn't even set myself any goal for the race itself, because I knew overtaking would be so hard with the lack of top speed. I just went nuts when I got that 02.4

The strangest thing is that I don't see side by side battling as my strength. The only real mistake was mistiming my pass attempt after the Senna S and gave you a small tap for a 4 second penalty on my end. C'mon, GT Sport! Gotta give us some leeway there!

Long story short, I regret choosing the Lexus for Interlagos. That thing was utterly undrivable for me in dirty air. The battle with AxGear was with him trying to fuel save in an NSX so that's how much I was struggling out there. A really poor 11th finish thanks to the penalty but I wasn't getting good points anyways. That and I really enjoyed fighting for position. Gotta enjoy those moments when they come up.

Manufacturer's, I had high hopes since I noticed in Tidgney's stream the Jaguar doing really well in the Euro race. Unfortunately, I had issues with traffic interference during my fliers again. I can't exactly blame the drivers out there because I'm not a fan of the current setup at all. If you're going to send 15~20+ drivers out on a track and only give them 10 minutes to set a time (and it's far less than that thanks to the outlap), it's a real jumble trying to give each other enough space. It's worse when you're on a track where crashes are common and you have to evade people. I really wish they could just ghost everyone and have slipstream disabled.

Anyways, despite my disastrous qualifying, I realized quickly that anything better than 6th was going to be impossible. I had enough to go into mid to high 2:02s during the race but the top six guys were going faster still. Even when I finally cleared my fellow Jag driver, I wasn't catching up at all. Compared to the thrilling second half of my Nations race, Bathurst after pitting was utterly boring.

I regret choosing the NSX lol. But still, what a battle. Damn shame the penalty system screwed you over. Started P11 and went all the way up to P7. I could have kept moving forward but the NSX drew the short straw when it came to fuel mileage.

I got paired with @DriftMethod again in the nations. Had a great qualy for a change. Started 4th finished 4th. 5th couldn't catch me and 3rd made some little mistakes but not enough to close ln on him had a few non optimal exits of a few corners so I could never close in. 1600 pts. Best result so far.

Manufacturers with the Viper in bathurst. Had an okayish qualy, had trafic though. Starting 10th. The viper was really fast on the straights so I gained a position in the first straight going uphill, on the downhill straight I was ready to gain another position but the guy in 8th was drafting the car ahead so I could not make it happen. We reach the braking point really close and I brake slightly later, I try to go to the inside to avoid hiting him but I failed and hit him anyway. The lag amplifies the contact and he run off the track:indiff:. Got 10 secs for that. I was quite consistent and with a few people spinning, penalties plus a couple overtakes on the straight I was 5th on fbathurst that was incredible:eek:. Finished 7th when I served my penalty for 1500 points. And I felt like I sucked at this track...:D

...annnnd I was following you on Bathurst in the Z4:cheers:

Drove clean and kept it on track. Finished 5th because of zero penalties. 👍

Nations race was nice. Had a decent qualy lap, my race pace wasnt great, especially the second stint. Got lucky to get the result i got tbh.

Manu was worse. I knew i would struggle on the Citroen gr3 car, My qualify was dreadful. Had pace to do a high 02s lap, did a high 03. Starting in the middle of the pack caused me problems, i got hit from behind in the end of lap 2 when i just got passed some guys and lost a lot of time in the first stint behind the Lancer. Second sting was very good tho, enjoyed that. All race saving fuel. I feel like this is the best aproach with this car, because you save tyres, if you don't the car is terrible to drive on the last couple of laps.

Both rooms were pretty strong, but the reward we get from these rooms are not good enough. 2.4k for the winner in these races is pretty low considering the level of the field.

Game froze and then crashed during qualifying during Manufacturers. Looks like I won't be able to do top 24 superstars in that championship for season 2 as the top 2 Nissans are 2000+ points ahead of me.

Had a front row seat for that battle. Hell of a show lol

That was a fun race. Just wish I had a better first lap :(
Now get to watch the battle from my view. Starts at around the 19:00 mark. :D

Wow, my lap times were just awful compared to my lobby times. I still think I should've gone with the NSX. It handled better and I was faster in it.

Well deserved, you drove very well:cheers:. I was having problems in the hairpin going downhill and I had some poor exits during the first stint. The viper straight line speed helped me keep the position.

I looked at the replay and thank god I backed out a couple of times when going side by side uphill. The other players didn't notice I was there I would have been sandwiched against a wall:nervous: and with the 10 sec penalty already = game over.

Seeing after 2nd round Asia surprise not so much Lexus and Nissan in top rank, well this is just still early days to judge. Fun to see Citroen on top and lot of BMW in track.

Although it might not last by season’s end, never, ever give up. Fight for every single position because you never know what will happen to others.

When in doubt, flat out

Next FIA Nation at Monza will be a 100% Veyron GR4 grid. Overwhelming superiority.

I found a nice ghostbuster livery for this once. Thanks to whoever did that one. It'll be perfect for turn 1 ghosting.

Edit: I'm clearly going insane because I've just wasted 15 minutes of my life trying to find it again with no luck.

Once again did both races, first up was manufacturers:
Qualified P13, the lap was ok, messed up the last sector would've given me a few positions, didn't have time to get much practice in pb was 05.4.
The race was absolutely horrific. It all started on lap 2 where I got a 10s penalty for running into the back of someone who'd made a mistake in the tight and twisty section Then after serving the penalty I ran into the back of someone at the last turn got 5s for that, that one was completely my fault and it did push him wide, I gave him the place back after he served his 1s I decided to pit on lap 4 to get some clean air, calm down and pump in some laps but as I was coming out of the pits just as I put the throttle down, the guy coming past lost the back end, came across me and I couldn't react in time to avoid him, we both ended up facing the wrong way and I had another 10s penalty. Got another 4s when I touched someone whilst going side by side at the end of the Conrod and then got a final 10s after hitting someone who'd made a mistake in the twisty section before the Conrod. After that I was just driving around at the back, not getting into any rhythm making mistakes all over the place and in the end it was P18.
I had a bit of bad luck but my poor driving didn't help either, was quite annoyed after the race but I guess that's racing sometimes, things won't always go your way. My DR went down by about 1200 and SR by 42 and was down in SR B.

I didn't get a chance to do any other races in between Manufacturers and Nations which meant the lobby I was low ranked with only 1 other A rank and quite a few B and D rank racers. I qualified P3 with my banker lap, messed up my other attempts. For the first stint in the race I wasn't pushing too hard, just trying to keep the car on the track and short shifting to manage the fuel. On lap 6 the font 2 took each other out at T1 meaning all I had to do was manage the gap to whoever was behind. I did that and claimed my 5th Sport Mode win on this game and my first win that wasn't at Brands Hatch. I didn't feel amazing cos of the level of the competition but a win's a win I guess.

Absolutely no worries, we had a good race at Brands :)! I think they need to rethink the whole points assignment though as it's the first time I've really seen that irrespective of what I do in the top split I can't outscore lower splits. With the current results I'll be lucky to win Peugeot I'm just hoping this means all the nice combos for Peugeot are in next seasons!

Courage?
I would say quite opposite.

I'm curious what you'd call it :p? I wouldn't say courage either but I'm not selling out to others for a car I enjoy driving :D, which is what the manufacturers championship is all about. Just a shame in group 3 it's at the back of the pack by a country mile on fast tracks with long straights (0.5 down on Nissan in sector 1 at Bathurst is a bit nuts as it's 1 corner and a straight) and group 4 is so unbalanced for FWD cars that it's impossible to BoP. We'll see what season 3 brings because I want to really at least have a chance at qualifying Peugeot high up (Like in some of the test seasons) but if it's all fast tracks I'll pass... I've sacrificed DR 2 races in a row now for no gain what so ever due to the way points are assigned on lobby strength. I think I have a great idea to solve that problem which will help any driver who nails it in lower strength lobbies get more points but higher rated drivers also getting points :D! (Not that we can submit ideas)

Well slight change of format for me for my FIA race reports from now on as I did partake in both Wednesday and Saturday's
races but since I was wanting to upload video I knew it would take a while since my upload speed to Youtube is very low
for large video.

Unfortunately it seems i forgot to save the video for the Nations Cup Race 1 but there is an in game replay available if you search darth_tails.

Here are the video's that I have published and I am open to all comments since I need to work on improving my skills at DR B level.

Manufacturers Cup - Season 2 - Race 1 - Brands Hatch

Manufacturers Cup - Season 2 - Race 2 - Mount Panorama

Nations Cup - Season 2 - Race 2 - Interlagos

All footage is unedited from start of qualifying to finish off the race so apologies for the length but I like to keep the
whole event together rather than split video's.

Well I only had time for one race yesterday, so was I going to race the first available Nations race but I got the blue screen before I even connected to the lobby.

I'm not a contender so it doesn't really matter but I've had a blue screen at least one in every session I've had on GT recently, if this is widespread then this rubbish is sure to ruin someone's chances at getting to a Live Event and that can't be right.

Also the grip just doesn't feel right at all sometimes and it usually ends with a blue screen, could this be connected somehow?

Glad I didn’t race manufacturers if you guys were running in 02s and 03s, I was in the mid 05s even in practice. I don’t know I’m so slow at Bathurst in this game, I was more competitive in GT6, and I’ve always liked the track.

Really only had time for one race anyway and glad I picked Nations since got another podium and 1500 points. I don’t like Gr.2 but it seems like no one else does either since I can consistently get decent finishes in that class.

One of the top 2 might not make the race and we still don't know if its DR or season points based.

Keep the faith. Sorry about the disconnect. Yesterday wasn't your day at all.

It´s not straight cowardness as it has some tactic in it, and I´ll just call it "not courage".
My intent is not meant to be offending, especially to you because I respect what you do for community with the BoP tests on YT. 👍

Healthy score compared to my dreadful numbers. Most likely out of the Top 24 races first time around unless I survive the likely crash fest duo of Blue Moon and Monza on top.

As it stands, it's a game of room roulette. You could be one of the top drivers but if a lobby is top heavy, you could finish out of the podium and score far less points than a room where it's an easy win against a field full of solid midpackers. It's more profound in Manufacturers where you could win or lose big depending on the mix of cars in the field. I suppose a long season evens this out except they decided to do two Top 24 races for Season 2.

At the least, lobby selection strategy is a thing which means those unable to choose due to time constraints are at a disadvantage.

???

Pug is one of the riskiest picks there is because they have basically no chance of making Top 16, what @Tidgney did was damn brave :p Must riskier than picking a 'popular' manufacturer with his pace.

Almost forgot to put up this race. Looking at the other races last night, this was a bad room to be in with the Jag. At least it's still better than the Pug.

Because there are more countries in Europe than in the other regions?

The EMEA region does consist of more countries. However, that should not restrict the numbers entering the Top 24 Superstars races so much. Many of the countries within the EMEA region include racers who are far off the 'aliens.'

Plus, 10 people qualify from countries like Tuvalu, which has a population of around 11,000, yet only 3 can qualify from Germany with 82,000.000 people, which is highly likely to have a better group of drivers as the population is huge. The 'real' Nations Cup consists of 4 drivers per nation. You think that's justified?

USA population is about 325 million and allows 10, so Germany getting 3 sounds about right.

I'm not trying to escalate the argument, just showing that comparing countries like this will never be truly fair. There are so many factors that this can be based on, like overall population, volume of GT Sport sales, number of Sport Mode users, etc. No matter how they choose to limit entries, we can always find instances that are unfair in some regard.

PD chose to do a Nations Championship and wanted to limit the entries per Nation, it's really that simple. It's been mentioned before, but I think they chose a format similar to the Olympics, where inclusion of Nations is a higher priority than ensuring only the very best get selected.

Manufacturers Championship has a different criteria that isn't limited to individual countries. PD probably set this up as a contrast to the Nations selection, so at least they are addressing the concern in this way.

No worries your entitled to your opinion, but I would definitely not call it cowardness :)! I could have easily taken the easy option of Nissan and had a trip to Barcelona :D! I decided prior I wanted PUG as I like the RCZ GR.3 car, in fact like is underrated I love the thing and the way it looks haha! Although I get it looks like I'm shying away to avoid competition to make world finals, but at the moment that's highly unlikely in any manufacturer that has FWD group 4 car :P, even more so PUG as we don't have any pace on the straights haha :P!

Valid points. Like you said, you can look at it from different angles.
I just don't understand why the new FIA GT Nations Cup consists for 4 drivers form the country with 1 captain, yet only 3 in Gran Turismo. I guess the field of cars could be less in Gran Turismo.

@adstomko
The pre-season was the best season imo, where it went right down to the last race, every race mattered and no one race decided the whole thing and even better the first 4 races didn't determine 10-13 of the qualifiers prematurely. I don't mind the 3 country limit as much because the best drivers are spread across more countries here, but I just want it to be a straight championship to pick those people not some weird half knockout half championship thing. If they want to get the best drivers from each nation and manufacturer they're not going to get it with this structure. This championship will eliminate a lot of the best drivers early on with luck.

I had two good races with virtually identical results yesterday. The nations I qualified 2nd, chased for the first stint and passed but used more fuel in the process, got jumped and then couldn't catch in the 2nd stint. The manufacturers I qualified 2nd again, pace seemed slow in the 1st stint which allowed me to aggressively save fuel, jumped into 1st in the pit stop but I put a few percent too little fuel in and noticed on the 2nd to last lap and had to short shift a lot towards the end. Couple of great moves to get past me and just about contact free.

So yeah, both races:
Qualified 2nd
Finished 2nd
Fastest lap
2.5k points
@DrAug winner
