That's because saika159, who is from Hong Kong (or a Filipino with an HK account, you may never know!), won the Nations Cup in the Asia region. Same goes for the Germans in EMEA thanks to @TRL LIGHTNING being the champion of the Nations Cup.
I wish saika was Filipino ;w;
That's a nice breather though- shows that the Asia region has more than the usual challengers like Nik, Dauble and L-Shooter

Sounds about right with a 22.6 vs a 21.6. I was absolutely on it on my 22.7 wondering what the hell had happened and why I as so far off rank 1 to realise they were prepatch times haha! Spent an hour to get that 22.7 as well!

Had a break from GT for a few days just because I know what's coming up with the amount of playtime.

latest

I thought these pre-update times were actually done in update 1.23 (and that a whole new batch of aliens had arrived lol)!

I think that are probably around more than 3 usual challengers, with about 5-10 being Japanese (the ones I can think of right now are Kawakana, L-Shooter, Mit_Kraft, s_shohei, Rncf9x, FD3S, DaubleWeapon, Kuro96GT, and perhaps a few more), 2 from Australia (Nik and SpeedyChicken), 1 from New Zealand (side_awg), and 1 from Hong Kong (saika159). Sorry if I didn't mention a few obvious ones, I've being busy with other matters recently.

Saika has always been very strong and consistent, but has just never gotten lucky enough to have enough points in his races (due to not joining the right sessions), so it's great to see that he (or she) was able to do bang-up job when the Top 24 races came around. :)

Sometime i take 0,600 to o,800 penalty putting my 2 inners tires out of the red white strip of Graham Hill bend , sometime i pass this limit more than this and don't take any penalties at all...:confused:
PS: I've lost 0,800 laptime with my 3 pre 1.23 ghost , 911 , Bettle and renault.

I've lost about the same post 1.23.

To me it seems the penalty is dependent on how long you're on the strips. I practiced for about an hour yesterday and when I tracked out and stayed on the strips all the way out of the corner I would get a penalty but if I tracked out and kinda got on the strips but kept turning back into the track I wouldn't.

Hi again (sorry for the double post but this thread has been a bit of a ghost town lately).

I wanted to ask for opinions about which car to use for the upcoming Nations Cup race at Brands Hatch. The Renault RS01 and Mitsubishi Evo are my 2 main choices, could you suggest which one I should use (will be more than happy if you think up a different car apart from these two, I'm always ready to test fuel/tyres)?

It has been a ghost town, its the calm before the storm... o.o

Before the tire model update, I thought the RS01 was a bit sketchy to drive on worn tires. Haven't tested it since though.

I always forget about the EVO. I don't think I've used it yet.
I've tested quite a few and it's hard to choose. I'm not a fan of RS01. Porsche is fastest for me but tires and fuel isn't great. Several others have decent race pace but are better on fuel and tires.

I know I will have NO rear tires left if going with a 1 stop with the Porsche.

Just curious, on the Porsche are you moving brake balance to the rear? I know it doesn't have the best tire wear, but I didn't think it was that bad.

I only have it at +1.
I'm seemingly pretty hard on tires with my driving style. Both in actual road racing and in "sim" racing.

This exactly. The only time I thought I was being clever, looking at the Top 10 first for FIA Brands Hatch, seeing RS01 all the way down. Seeing 5 or 6 of us in the pre race screen "ah, I'm not the only one in the know" I thought. More fool me, I eventually ended up playing "kerbs are lava" and most of the other people who choose the RS01 rage quit.

Sorry for the newbie question (I did do a search) but can anybody enter the FIA championships and get to race against people of similar skill?

Also, are aids allowed as I still have tcs at 1 or 2, csa at weak and abs on default

Many thanks

Matt

Yes anyone can enter, you will be matched based on your DR and SR

TC is allowed but not CSA

Last time the WRX was faster than the Evo for me around Brands, haven’t tried it with the new update yet though

A "safe" bet is the Hyundai. It's good on fuel and tires, or at least was pre update. And is very easy to drive and be consistent in. My last FIA race with it at Brands, I started in 3rd, and would have finished 2nd or maybe 1st but I mad a few stupid mistakes and ruined my own race.

I'd recommend you don't use the Renault, it's even more sketchy now with the new tyre model :)!

Can't that be fixed with short shifting? Gears change much more smoothly on the RS01 in the lower RPM range. The Evo feels like it needs to be pushed a bit more to start working (2nd gear is also very touchy in the first hairpin). Still, thanks for the opinion. :)

Really need to compare the fuel and tyres to make sure, as I'm getting the same times with them when it comes down to sheer 1 lap pace.

Before the tire model update, I thought the RS01 was a bit sketchy to drive on worn tires. Haven't tested it since though.

Again, I think short-shifting really solves the problem, it becomes much more stable that way (if in doubt, upshift!), and if you can learn to feather the throttle, managing tyres for 9 laps shouldn't be too hard. ;)

I wonder what @TRL LIGHTNING has to say about this lol.

Hyundai huh? Ok, I'll give it a crack, BoP specs seem to be very generous, so it could be promising. Thanks. :)

It's an under rated car. It does tend to over steer quite a bit. I haven't spent much time with it since the update, but before it LOVED to trail brake. It's a fun car, but at the same time I don't like it because its a Hyundai.

Short shifting the Renault you lose a lot of speed, the renault was a little sketchy before at brands with the kerbs and undulations but it's even more sketchy now with the rear end and the way you get the top times in it is with aggression but that brings the rear moving a lot, a lot more vs pre-patch. I can't see a Renault winning any of the top splits, it didn't even do that pre-patch (Porsche, VW, Porsche was my split)

Buggered if I know which car to pick for the Nations at Brands tomorrow. Maybe Porsche? I will probably stick to my Beetle tbh
And still no love for the Scirocco :(

Fast guys tend to be using either the RS01 or the Audi it seems in Asia. Tbh I think the best bet will be whatever car you feel comfortable in for that right hander three corners from the end (forgive my lack of knowledge for the name of it), the one with the very unforgiving grass verge. Now that there's penalties for cutting the inside its going to be a minefield in the race.

Just did a full race practice for the upcoming Brands Hatch race in the 911.

  • Finished full race sim within 2 seconds of identical runs I did yesterday.
  • Lap times were generally stable, especially during the first 5-6 laps of a stint.
  • Drop of at the end of the race. Rear tires were shot at the end of both stints, but especially on my second stint.
  • Practically no change in fuel consumption running MT/0TCS
  • I commonly overshot the apices because of understeer. Not by a lot though, only by inches or a foot -> I either overdrove, or the braking point has moved by a minute fraction.
Overall, I feel like this is a buff for the car. However, the difference in time is so small it might have had nothing to do with the change. I feel like I could easily gain another 5 - 10 seconds across the full race distance if I get the car to grab the apices and drive the last 3 laps of each stint with a bit more finesse.

wow that's a lot of BoP changes right before the first round! I guess I'll have to retest a few cars for nations! Although I'll take any PUG Buff as I was still struggling to get anywhere near any of the times in group 4.

Audi is an interesting shout, will give that a look tonight - thanks :)
The RS01 is beyond my skills when on worn tyres. I prefer my cars not to actively try and kill me when at all possible, and with the power drop as well....

I was a bit shocked as well. I guess PD got done analyzing the results of the past two seasons and couldn't bake the changes in for 1.23.

Also, I believe with daily races being weekly, more emphasis has to be put into BoP. Otherwise we'll just be driving the wheels off two or three cars. Its a typical game balance problem - have tons of ccontent but only a fraction is used because everyone wants to be the most competitive.
