It doesn't matter because it isn't on the list of eligible countries, they are in the same boat as Italy and Croatia for example.

I really hope PD are serious about enforcement of that rule. There's absolutely no way stuff like that is fair or just.

When I saw how far back in the standings I was in Nations after Round 1, I did some quick research. In my room, I qualified at Brands with a 1:24.463 which was only good enough for 11th. I was able to find qualifying times for a few of the Americas top split rooms.

Room 1 (My room)
Starting position with my qualifying time: 11th
Points for starting position: 1,262

Room 2
Starting position with my qualifying time: 5th
Points for starting position: 2,099
11th position qualifying time: 1:24.747

Room 3
Starting position with my qualifying time: 7th
Points for starting position: 1,687
11th position qualifying time: 1:25.095

Room 4
Starting position with my qualifying time: 7th
Points for starting position: 1,598
11th position qualifying time: 1:24.713

I finished 8th which should have earned me 1,683 points based on the results screen. However, my room's point was adjusted because I'm only showing 1,538 points while the other rooms apparently kept their points. Therefore, in my situation, my starting position in any of the other rooms alone would've earned me more points.

In all honesty, my chances for making it through are quite slim anyways but wow, even I was surprised at the disparity. It's likely less in Europe but I already foresee some top guys getting bounced out because of being in the wrong rooms.

There is an element of ramdomness to the points you can get. Players could try colluding with other players to try to game it in their favour but dont be surprised if that backfires.

You were definitely in the strongest room. Winner from your race is currently P1 in the region standings and 3 of the current top 9 were from that race. Easier rooms have lower overall points available, so definitely a double edged sword.

By my estimation, in the Americas region, the discrepancies in points are dictated by the top 20 or so drivers. They can choose to pick a timeslot together or spread out. So unless PD switches to fixed points, everyone else is subject to luck.

Considering they have done absolutely nothing about duplicate accounts in Season 1 & 2, even when they were clearly used to target certain players and efforts were made to make these incidents public and reported, I wouldn't hold my breath. No wonder more people are doing it, seeing people get away with it in the last 6 weeks or so.

Just the latest in a long list of things they are totally screwing up. Still no Live Report on Season 2, even though we know they are sitting on footage from the Top 24 races from that tweet a few days ago. Jimmy alone has 120k+ subs on YouTube, many of who don't even play the game. Make those T24 races public or livestreamed on YouTube and that's guaranteed high viewership with even just a bit of marketing. As things stand hardly anyone outside of this thread is aware of what is going on and we're into the business end of the series. When you compare it to the F1 or even Forza esports championships, it's appalling the level of coverage when you consider the potential of the FIA tie in and marketing power of Sony.

Penalty system is pathetic now, it is almost impossible to get a penalty even if you swipe someone into oblivion so the racing is getting ever more dirty, and the Gr4 races are still going to be fuel saving trains of Meganes. The prize at the end of all this? At the moment, the biggest prize it seems is going to a posh dinner (FIA Gala).

Can anyone tell I'm seriously considering the point of continuing to commit any time and energy into all this . Kaz often said at Nurburgring that it's great players that make a great game like this. Speaking to others, at this rate many of these great players are seriously considering trying their hand elsewhere instead. They might actually get some recognition and a championship in which the organisers actually pay attention to what's going on.

Speaking to others, at this rate many of these great players are seriously considering trying their hand elsewhere instead. They might actually get some recognition and a championship in which the organisers actually pay attention to what's going on.

My mind has pondered the possibility of teams issuing orders where many join a room to boost up the points and a few agree to sacrifice their results for others. I mentioned it before that the aliens in the Americas need to max out their DR and stop racing altogether or they're going to hurt each others chances in the long run.

I've yet to do runs with wear on but I checked out a few cars in free run to narrow down the choices. All of these I got down between 1:40.5 to 1:41 flat, so add an extra half second to get an estimated alien time.

Megane - To think that even after two BOP changes adding all that extra weight, this machine still can run fast laps and handle well. It makes the downhill esses quite easy which I fear is what will make everyone pick it.

Cayman - For now, I managed a better time with the Porsche than the Megane but only by a sliver. It is faster than the Megane before reaching corners so it has that going for it. I was having a lot more trouble going downhill since I don't have the throttle control I want.

86 - I hit a really good lap with the Toyota but every time I tried replicating it, I scrubbed off too much speed. A few oversteer moments at times but manageable.

NSX - First car I tested out for some reason. Too much effort to get a good lap because I believe it's rather heavy.

Alfa - I get the impression that one could really carry speed through corners with this but it doesn't get along with me. Every corner, it's like there's no rotation and then far too much.

There's two or three others cars I've yet to run.

I was thinking that the Lamborghini might be a decent counter to it. Should have the pace to overtake them on the straights and will be decent enough through the twisty stuff not to get completely swamped. Haven't tested anything out yet though as have to try and learn that St Croix B track layout.

I watched the American guys YouTube channel where I think you and him had a coming together (nothing major) but he was quick to say it was your fault.

I know you top drivers have to be hyper aware of what’s around you but what should have happened? If I had been the American guy (in my much lower standard) I would have backed out thinking well I am not alongside.

He had a very similar issue a few laps later into the last turn with another driver.

I am not casting aspersions on him (I understand he is talked of as a very fair driver) id just like to understand what should have happened in a perfect world

We all feel your rant. After 17 years of being involved in this hobby (more or less sometimes), I have to say this is very disappointing to see after so many games, beta tests and everything. I absolutely love racing and competing, but it is taking way too much of my free time and devotion to compete on a high level, and when I see how some of the kids are getting rewarded for their effort in some "bad" games like fortnite or call of duty makes me really close to pull the plug and retire from this, and just enjoy other games with my friends. But as you said, it's not just about the rewards, there is no feedback from PD and they just seem to ignoring the problems, although I believe the language barrier always was and will be the problem.

As for other sims, have them all and tried them all (some more,some less), but IMO sim-racing will never reach the level or popularity of other esport games, simply because it's too expensive to get into it. GT has the biggest potential, that is if they manage to get the financial support from other manufacturers next year,for example.

I don't think money is the reason. People spend thousands and thousands of pounds on high-end PC and top quality equipment like a mouse, keyboard etc for games like Siege or Dota

It was quite a while back but I remember Group 4 races at this combo where the only way to overtake was on the main straight. However, that was only possible if one could manage the downhill in traffic without understeering. The track limits and the curbs with the new tire model may make that part of it more difficult.

St Croix... I wish I could just skip this race altogether. The track just brings out the worst in the Jaguar.

It was just a sequence of events that placed me in quite a compromised position and a move happened that I wasn't anticipating at all. I'm actually in the process of uploading that race so you can see what happened from my view. Again, the only real issue was that the contact only really hurt myself, I lost the position and yet, the game slaps me with a five second penalty anyways. At least now I have an excuse to quote the following from Fernando Alonso:

"What a joke! The five seconds! What a joke!"

In the meantime, have some exciting Nations Cup racing! There's a spin at Lap 1 and... okay, that was the bulk of the excitement on my end.

Every parent will buy a PC for their kid because they need it for school this days, and then when you have a f2p game for it, well that makes it easy accessible then. Standard ps4 is also not that expensive and fortnite is f2p which makes it the most playable game on the console by far now.

Buying a wheel, racing seat of any kind, pedals, well that is not and there lies the problem for most people that don't have a stable job, and then when you have a job you may not have enough time to dedicate to this....unless you have parents loaded with money and don't care about all of this.

I have enough time to devote to this at the moment, but I would rather spent it on other games rather then getting disconnected on Saturday or being beat by a completely OP car in the race, after I have spent about 5-10h on preparations for the races itself.

And now Manufacturer's. For @HatMarris, I would start at the 3:40 mark because that's where the chain of events begin. To watch a rare crash on my end, it's around 10:35. All the time I practiced that one corner and that was the only time something like that happened.

I drove the McLaren a while back for a test season. I rather liked that car but frankly, its performance compared to all the other cars was quite bad. I'll need to take it again and hope the new tire model gave it a new life.

Ups... I didn't know that it's against the rules to race with 2 accounts. When I first heard about Nissan Cup I had already signed for Porsche, so I made a new sub account to compete for Nissan in Season 3. Anyway, in round 1 of season 3 I did the nations race with both my accounts since I thought I could use my new account for a test to familiarize with the new track limits under race conditions (was able to score 1.9k and 1.6k points in Nations with not a single penalty in both races ).

To keep things fair I'll stop using two accounts in Nations Cup, but I hope it's still acceptable to race with one account (the old one with higher DR) in Nations Cup and with the other one in Manufacturer Cup?

I should have done 2 accounts and got a free holiday to Spain haha! I didn't want to though because of fair play so I do hope something gets done. Whether anything will or not? I don't know but I really dislike multiple accounts in an official championship.

This is the bit I really don't get, I kept checking the site everyday because I wanted to enjoy the commentary, we've seen the highlights of the first top 24 but I want to the full race with commentary. To be honest if they can't get anyone to commentate Wednesdays and Saturdays I'll do it... UK will be such a luck fest to qualify I'd rather get enjoyment out of commentating as I love doing that to!

One of the main reasons I'd consider not putting time and effort in is that it feels like it's a luck fest. I've quit a few games before because of luck fests, or RNG being the biggest part of it because it basically means irrespective of effort, commitment or energy put in, you could be totally screwed by something out of your control. I'm giving it a chance this year and then I'll see what happens... But what do I mean by luck fest? Well mainly the points system is so whacky, I mean I get it's derived from the strength of the lobby but I really don't understand how in some lobbies I could be with the super elite come 10th and score X and potentially have had a much faster race time, then in another race I score Y for coming 5th have driven really badly and got more points from doing that race than the first. The crazy thing is I have to try and use this to my advantage in the manufacturers cup because the class is broken because of accelerated fuel/tyre wear (I'm doing a video on this in a couple of weeks which shows how the system doesn't work in ANY game irrespective of GT or not). I'm a massive fan of GT, I've been playing it since I was 6/7 years old... but at the end of the day if something stops being fun (It's still fun at the moment which is why I make content and such for it) then I stop doing it. They really need to look at the points system though and rethink it a little. I kind of liked @Venster idea of a league system. Reminds me a lot of Starcraft 2 which I played quite hard when it first came out to try and become pro in that (Was close but the Koreans kind of took over at the first GSL ). But something which could classify a lobby better and make sure that you aren't punished for coming 20th in an elite lobby and get 0 points (WHA? 0?) where you could have had the race of your life been absolutely amazing and get 0 and be beaten by everybody else who didn't come 20th...

I agree the points system is a bit off, a win in at B downwards would be more points than a low finish in a top split. But really you need to be in a top split race to stand a chance of scoring big points to qualify.

It would be easily sorted IMO if they introduced a division or league system that you can promote you or demote you down. So you could either get a multiplier of your points relative to your division, or even if the points were the same ish for each division the fact you scored those points in a division 1 race over a division 2 race for example, in respect to the leaderboard it would position you accordingly as it would recognise you achieved it in a more difficult environment.

I have enough time to devote to this at the moment, but I would rather spent it on other games rather then getting disconnected on Saturday or being beat by a completely OP car in the race, after I have spent about 5-10h on preparations for the races itself.

My dad bought me a steering wheel when I was 8 or 9 can't remember exactly as I was ill that christmas. Didn't have a rig though so the wheel sat on the knee but certainly gave me a new way to play TOCA 2 ! In fact I think I still have it in a box somewhere ! In reality though as you said there's no way racing will be as big as Fortnite, CoD or SC2 or something because the genre isn't as popular, it's like Football and Racing in real life, however I do believe it can be significant enough if the right energy is put into it like in real life.

I don't care how big it gets or how small in the grand scheme of it though, what I want as a viewer (I watch Forza even though I've never played the damn thing) of virtual racing is good, entertaining and fair competition. As a player I just want equal opportunity for everybody and not RNG fests (Exception being shuffle racing which was hilariously fun). If I ever witness a player win every race in the top split of a season and not qualify because of RNG I'll quit the game instantly (I don't mean me either, I mean anybody).

To keep things fair I'll stop using two accounts in Nations Cup, but I hope it's still acceptable to race with one account (the old one with higher DR) in Nations Cup and with the other one in Manufacturer Cup?

That's not up to me, its up to PD, but what I do know is PD take inviting people out to Live Events much more seriously than managing the Online Races, and they'll check everyone they are inviting against the rules pretty thoroughly.
