For the Nations tomorrow I think the closest I could get to the 911 GT3 was the F40 and the Lancer Gr.B Road Car (Slow in straight line but easy to drive). You could maybe look at the X-Bow, but I couldn't get a good lap with that thing. 911 GT3 is probably going to be your best bet though, seems a bit OP for N500.
How close did you get with the other cars?

I got a 2:15 in the Lancer, and a 2:16 in the F40 and the S-FR, but i haven't done more than a couple of laps in each. I haven't even tried a lobby race, so I have no idea really but the 911 is just fast as hell down the straights. Think I would be around a 2:13/2:14 in the 911, but I was tired and kept binning it on the couple of laps I tried.

I got 2:12.2 with the 911, with a few mistakes, probably could run in the high 11s. It’s just not fun, so much understeer. It wants to plow into the grass on the straights and just won’t rotate. I tried a few other cars (including the Evo), and all of them were almost 2 seconds behind before they even got out of the Esses. I’ll try the F40 later.

My two races from last week, particularly pleased with the race with the Gr4. Hyundai, that was my best points haul of the season, for some reason it was a really strong track for the car. Bit annoying that some Porsches were able to run Super softs for the whole race and I had to run softs, nevermind.

Today we can officially RIP team FT (Pre Season - Round 10 Manufacturers Top 24). Even some French teams last longer

I owe SkyPikmin a forfeit (not a 6 hour forfeit, I'm not that crazy), because I promised a no-stop race in Manufacturers and let myself get spooked out of it by the high tyre wear on a DS4 and the pack closing in fast. Sticking to the no-stop was the better strategy in hindsight, as I came out on Mediums into traffic and went in too hard at The Chase trying to make a pass. Sat stationary for a good 5 seconds in shock that I'd made such a simple error. Even with the cliff looming, I would've had enough of a cushion on the no-stop for at least a 4th...

Which is where I finished in the Carrera Cup* Nations race afterwards. It's more fun than you may think; the tyres turn it into a fight for survival in the last two laps.

*actually N500 but everyone's using a Porsche or losing to a Porsche.

Absolute carnage throughout at Suzuka. Started 8th, finished 4th, was 6th going into the final chicane. Also had the second fastest lap of the race (2:16.0, leader the only one under 16) so all in I'm taking that as a success.

Gonna bite into this new season in half an hour, you can all come if you want ;)

PS: No longer inverting colours this stream as a halloween special because I'm kinda ill and I'd rather not look at that for 2 hours

A miraculous 3rd at Bathurst. Went for a pit-stop on lap 4, missed it, only got an extra .5 second penalty for it, decided to go on to mediums for the final 3 laps. 1st and 2nd were long gone and an Audi in 4th was a rolling roadblock, but I'm quite happy with that. I doubt I'll ever have an FIA night like this again, and to think I was thinking of sitting out the season as I was getting bored.

My stream was hilarious, just a highlight reel of me screwing up, and everyone around me screwing up, lost tonnes of DR but it was a helluva lot of fun 👍

Oh Canada, we stand on guard for the... podium! ;)

Cheers

Had my very first FIA race in Bathurst for the Manufacturers race. I'm content other than the poor planning with the pit stop which caused me to get 2nd place and it feels somewhat good to have the fastest times in an Atenza for Gr.3

I tried taking a knife to a gunfight last night in the Nations (Subaru WRX to a Porsche 911 GT3 fight), but unsurprisingly it didn't quite work. Qualified 11th and then sat at the back of the main pack for 4 laps waiting for people to start fighting up ahead. Only 2 people had accidents though so ended up 9th about 16 secs back - which wasn't too bad considering I started 8 secs back and ran wide once at spoon to lose about 3 secs. No vids as it was a quiet race for me.

Didn't bother with the manufacturers as driving the Peugeot VGT around Bathurst was way beyond me.

Group B at the Red Bull Ring on Saturday looks fun though. One question though, will the Audi still be OP, or have they fixed it? Would like to use my Silkolene Peugeot if possible.

I've decided to really try to devote time to nations and getting better. Scored 5th on Suzuka with Porsche, scoring 762pts. My highest ever.

Are the FIA races still a load of people not knowing there is damage? I haven't done an FIA race since like round 3 of the first exhibition season

Reports from my races yesterday:
Nations: a disasterclass

Manufacturers: also a disasterclass

Hey man! I believe damage is back to light this season. It's interesting that they are trying all these different combos out during this exhibition season to see what is and isn't working.

Good to know. Maybe I'll set my wheel back up this week or next week and give them a go again. Thanks for the info man!

Personally the tyre wear multiplier during this season is just way too high to be enjoyable imo. Any other compound at this point is purely a quali tyre, no options of strategy. I mean I don’t find having to crawl around an outlap so you don’t wreck your tyres for a fast lap all that fun to be honest.

my fastest in the F40 was 2:13,302 ;). The F40 is faster in Topspeed.

Yeah, qualifying is a pain, but saving tires is a lot more fun than saving fuel like it used to be. Yesterday was my first race with the multiple compounds so I don’t have much experience with it but I enjoyed doing a no stop on hards and only really struggling in the last 2 laps while everyone else had to stop on mediums which wore out after about 2.5 laps.

Yeah I agree it is better than fuel saving, just think it’s just too high at the moment if they dropped it a bit I think it would go towards balancing the compounds.

In short races like this very few tracks where two stops work but at least the option of no stop vs 1 stop would be good. Red bull ring GR3 season 1 exhibition worked really well and the difference between one stop and no stopping was really close.

If it was up to me I’d just scrap the current qualifying format, use daily race style time trial qualifying and make the races 10-15 minutes longer, opening up more strategy options
