I'd love longer races to, to be honest as it means 1 mistake isn't the end of it all and it also means that less dive-bombs will happen I imagine :D! I'm assuming there's a reason behind it! But I feel you with tyres I'm driving for Audi so FWD TT, although that car is far better than the RCZ Gr.4 car! That even before the crazy multiplier was the worst car on tyres, I couldn't even imagine driving that thing now!

Do you mean the wear is better than the RCZ? Also, how is the Scirroco?

I can’t believe you picked another FF I can’t stand any of them, the upside for you is you have insane pace to make up for it 👍, me on the other hand ........ not so much

On a plus note been paying close attention to your streams and advice, think I know what manufacturer I’m going for next time :p

Been doing my own tests, not sure I’ve found a bad track for the GR3 version yet

For the race tomorrow I am barely getting 2 laps from the Pug at Brands on the softs, and barely 4 on the mediums. Just did a 3 stop practice race with 2 sets of softs and 2 sets of mediums :)

Scirocco is probably the best FF car on tyres, with the Audi close behind. Both are good enough to compete against most FR cars in tyre wear (apart from Cayman and GT86)

Are Cayman and 86 good on tyres?

Are Cayman and 86 good on tyres?

The Cayman typically is, but at this tire wear rate I don't think anything will be too good for more than a few laps. I've never raced the 86 in an environment with tire wear, so I can't comment on that car. 👍

Not sure with the Scirroco but I think it's the best of the 3 FWD cars. RCZ is the worst and by a considerable margin.

To be fair twitter picked it :)! I do enjoy the Audi more than the RCZ Gr.4 car just due to the fact it... errr.. turns? haha :)! Looking forward to seeing which one once we can eventually pick again :P!

Nations: qualified 15th, finished 12th. A whackton of contact is pretty much inevitable with Gr.B machines around Red Bull Ring ala the EU Repechage races, only with a sea of quattros, myself included, with a stranded Evo and NSX slotted in. Red S is what I got at the end.

Manufacturers: qualified 14th, finished 13th. The tyre wear is just too much for my M4 on Medium tyres! After 4 laps, it's very much dead, so a 2-stopper is inevitable, but I went with a 1-stopper by pitting in on Lap 5/12. That was dumb, but at least I can just annoy Valdemer-tana in a 2-stopping Cayman at the end.

@Tidgney, keep an eye on your TT's front tyres, otherwise you will be doing a two-stop like what s-shohei_ did in his Pug! Though it should be noted that Shohei is using Softs on all of his stints!

4th at Austria after qualifying 6th in the Cheese Quattro. I was following the same guy for the whole race and got ahead for about half a lap in the middle, but it turns out I really can't defend so I ended up back a place. One of the leaders pitted on lap 7, I've no idea why.

On the last lap though, the tight section in the middle, the leader bottled it. Went off, must have lost about 12/13 seconds based on his relative to me. Now that I'm taking this racing semi-seriously I'd probably die if I went off like that, I certainly wouldn't be able to recover. Still, a third straight successful FIA race.

Had a rammer in an RCZ my RBR lobby. Started off by battering the NSX behind me, then hit the NSX into me on lap 1 at Schlossgold, dropping me to 19th from 19. Yay.

Took me one lap to catch up with the RCZ and NSX who were smashing into each other, RCZ then tried to smash into me again but missed as I changed direction unexpectedly under braking. Had a couple more goes but wasn't close enough.

Managed to run consistent 1'38.5 - 1'39.7 laps as the tyres wore and got up to finish 10th in the end (for a whopping 200DR gain). Oddly it looked like my fastest lap was the third fastest of anyone (although the other two cars ahead of me could have done many laps faster than me), despite being 0.1s slower than my 15th-place Q-lap, and I gained about 1.5s on everyone on worn tyres at the end of the race. If I hadn't been battered out of 15th, I might have stood a chance of 5th or 6th; I was only half a second from 8th as it was.

Asshat.

whyyyyy on eaaarth am I doing this to myselfff... I can't drive these cars...

Come watch me lose all my DR! Starting in 10 mins

For closure, internet died a horrible death halfway through Manufacturers, Router decided to systematically kick every device off the internet one by one then reboot, unfortunate, but its a really rare occurrence, what can you do... Cost me a lot of DR though so it made the stream title true , Nations was really good anyway, you should watch it :)

Evo tires are worryingly bad on brand. Looking at a 3 stop I think. Using the wheel for the first time I think I’m scrubbing the tires more

Top split lobby, no sry, no penalty just drove off

I have to admit this increased tyre wear and differences are hurting racing 10x more than fuel races we had before. I wish we didn't complain now! :dopey:

That sucks man, and yeah for the 4 laps I was in the Brands race before D/Cing I was like what is this ungodly tyre wear... Needs to be at the very least halved.

So my stream is about to start, Nations, Manufacturers then 2 open lobbies! We're doing a full audi fest tonight, so GR.B then Gr.4, Gr.3 and finishing Gr.1 :D!

Cheers mate, will just go with the flow tonight on that 1 xD!

A-hahahaha, RIP my tyres.

Ended putting TCS on 1 to preserve the fronts and doing a 5:5:2 two-stopper, with two sets of mediums and one soft. Again, only just managed to improve on my qualifying time, but somehow went from 20th to 12th... No idea what these people are doing in qualifying that they can't come close to replicating in a race.

Well, Brands Hatch is just impossible. Blocked in qualy, couldn't put on a good lap, started on 11th. Blocked the entire race and bumped when I tried to avoid hitting the guy on the front. It's impossible to have a clean race in Brands Hatch until you can report people for blocking and bumping, and until it actually has consequences.

Does Brands Hatch get included in this to punish Nissan drivers? 3 stop. 20th to 15th. An absolute clown show.

I just can't get my head around tire wear in Gr. 4. In the official FIA seasons I did Subaru and finished a respectable 3rd overall. But man did I suffer with the front tires in the Gr. 4 WRX. Now I'm with Hyundai. Brands Hatch today has really been a slap in the face for me. I qualified 4th and started the race with front M and rear S. The first few laps the guys in 2nd-5th, we got a little train going, taking care of our tires.

Starting lap four they all just pulled away. My tires were absolutely destroyed. On lap five I decided to enter pits and do a two-stop. I managed to pass a couple people to get back up to seventh which is where I finished.

But I just don't get it. I've tried everything. Driving style, brake balance, staying on the hardest compound. Maybe the Genesis Gr. 4 is just as bad as the WRX. I dunno. I am just amazed at how quickly my tires burn down even after going slow and looking after them, turning in early at low speeds and leaving the apex in a straight line, just like the other guys in our little "watch our tires" train of cars. Then they just disappeared. I am at a total loss and very frustrated. Even going purposely slow, three seconds off my qualy time my tires still get smoked while everyone around me just drives off into the sunset.

Is anyone else struggling like this? It's been the story of my life all year in the Gr. 4 FIA races. I'm not sure at this point if I'm just retarded or if it's just inherent in the manufacturers that I choose. Sigh... sorry for the rant. I would definitely appreciate some insight.

When you setup for a overtake for first place and you get a disconnection. RIP possible 2500 points and lost 1800 DR with it. The feeling from highest concentration to suddenly a disconnection, words can't discribe lol.

Good Morning all,

Round 2 Nations Cup - Red Bull Ring - Gr. B Audi Sport Quattro S1 Pike Peak '87

I jumped on early Saturday morning and went to work picking a vehicle for this race, after testing all of my Gr. B cars I decided with the Audi Sport Quattro S1 Pike Peak '87 after 10 practice laps at roughly 1:38 - 1:40 minutes a lap. There were no other cars I could consistently hit those times with.

After a solid first qualifying lap I was unable to break that time after being held up around the track, even a pit stop for fresh tires had me braking early to allow the slower drivers the space to get around the corners unscathed. I qualified 3rd and prepared for 1st, another Audi PP '87 and a Mustang were faster, I split the time between myself and fourth and got lucky early taking advantage of the wide berth taken by the Mustang and proceeded to chase down 1st place. The last two corners of the Ring seemed to much for my fellow Pikes Peak racer, I was almost untouchable with a consistent 2.5 - 3 second split on second place until a one lap full of mistakes (late braking, missing apexes) allowed second to catch me, giving me a little nudge with 2 laps remaining. No need for bad blood, second releases the throttle and gives me back position, unfortunately this allowed the Mustang to take back 2nd place. Tire wear seemed to much for second or third to have a real chance after that minor bingle, with a battle for second I was able to get back out to a 3 sec split and pushed it to 4 sec at some points around the track.

Finished - 1st place

Self Performance Rating - 8/10 - Good work taking advantage of early mistakes, and recovering toward the end of the race. Need to improve on recovering my race after taking a corner ineffectively, this is a mental thing though and I think it comes with nerves of being the race leader.

Round 2 Manufacturer Series - Brands Hatch - Gr. 4 Mercedes Benz SLS AMG

Having raced with Mercedes Benz since I purchased the game just over 2 months I didn't feel like I need to practice this race as much as I did with the Nations Cup race. I was unable to catch the fastest lap, but I made my way around the track with ease and grace. The last Group 4 race I had at Brands Hatch was a disaster, clipping the grass in the last half of the track is a race ruin-er. The track seemed to be so much wider than I remembered, I had a great feeling about this race. Qualified 4th, read for a run at the podium.

That's when disaster struck again, unaware that the Playstation controller had been knocked I prepared for the rolling start, 3... 2... 1... Go. Full revs, no power. OH NO. Foot down. Full Revs. No Power! FFFFFFFFF! Fooot DOOOOWN! I grab the controller, the instant I do, full revs, lots of power, wheel spin! Last place. +8.5 sec split from 18th place. This isn't what I planned.

Accept it Janwyl, it is what it is. Stick to the game plan, Medium tires, pit lap 8, push it hard for the last 4 on softs. I drove consistent and focused on hitting those apexes instead of trying to push the car to limits. Perfect, a lap later I'm at the back of the first pack. Plenty of mistakes down this end, taking advantage of wide berths, and gaps the size of whales. I climbed from 19th to 6th in 8 laps before forcing myself to pit. On the soft, I leave pits into traffic and behind two drivers with about a 1.0 sec penalty each. I exercise caution, after seeing them involved in accidents earlier in the race with other cars. I try to make a pass, he swings late forcing me to brake. Oh well, drive like that you're gonna **** up eventually. I be patient, sitting 9th, trying to grab 8th spot. Every pass attempt is met with contact. The last lap is violent battle around Brands Hatch, giving our 8th placed pal plenty of penalties to deal with. Second to last corner, brakes hard, ghosts, accelerates, unghosts all on the apex. I brake hard, only giving a soft touch but it's enough for me to lose traction and cut part of the track. 10th and 11th pass me as I enter the track.

Finished - 12th place

Self Performance Rating - 5/10 - Valuable lesson learned. Make sure you a prepared to race before taking the grid, it cost 15 places in the first lap. The last lap battle and the final lap fiasco may not have happened if I was able to hold that position. I need to improve on making those important passes that hold up my race.

I'm experiencing the same issues with the Nissan. Going to try the Porsche when they allow us to change manufacturers.

Keith.

I've never raced with the WRX but could it have something to do with Torque Distribution, being a 4WD does it allow you adjustments on the fly. Front tire wear wasn't an issue in the SLS AMG Gr. 4 on Brands Hatch but it was on the Audi SQ Pikes Peak '87 with a 50:50 Torque Distribution, the front tires were shot in the last few laps.

WRX doesn’t allow adjustments to the diff.

@Pfei It’s mostly just that the Genesis is just the worst RWD car for front tires. I also burnt the tires off it driving conservatively in one of the Nations races in one of the real seasons. It goes through tires like it has 3000lbs over the front wheels. It has all the downsides of AWD with none of the plus sides. Except it’s easy to drive.

NEW POST (since I know how the staff hates double posts) I watched @Tidgney 's stream of the Nations race earlier, which was actually entertaining. Usually I hate that type of thing, but he does a great job. The race was incredible as well. And I felt like I learned a lot just watching a master at work.

Fast forward a few hours and my race was almost a mirror image of his. Qualified 2nd and had an epic race for the lead for almost the entire race, but I was able to pull away at the end and earned my biggest points payout ever. Almost entirely using what I learned from his stream.

I was 12th in points after the 1st race, so now I'll almost certainly be somewhere in the top 10 in the Americas, which is hilarious. Yes, I know the few elite drivers who still actually participate in the exhibition seasons were in Vegas on Wednesday but still, so far in this season that doesn't count I've been repaid all the luck I didn't have when it actually counted.

The Penalty Lines are functional, and when you get a penalty, the text in a red square, instead of saying "SLOW DOWN", will now say a rather debuggy "RESTRICT_LAPTIME_2". And you do get slowed down once you get past the Penalty Line.

Did my second FIA race (manufacturers on BH) after not playing GTS for four months and for the first time ever, I did a practice run in one of the open lobbies. This showed me that I can actually one-stop the M4 even though the tires are badly down after 4 laps.

Messed up qualifying, startet 14th. Messed up T3, moved down to last place. Had an ok race with only minor mistakes after that and finished 8th! Great feeling to make up so many places on strategy :) (or is the M4 simply easy on tires?).

Only BS driver at about 23.000/99 after 100 races, but hey, this game is fun for non-aliens as well ;).

Race Reports
Nations:
My quali lap wasn't great, only P12. Got a tap at T2 at the start which almost hit me off and then the same guy sent the guy in front to Narnia at T3. On the next lap I came up behind @Lost Sheltie who had dropped from P2 and basically followed him for most of the race as he made his way back through the pack, I tried not to get into a battle with him as to not lose time to the guys around, luckily the guy behind me had the same idea. At the end of lap 9, Sheltie went wide at the last 2 corners, meaning I could through and then I also got past someone going into the hairpin. I was chasing someone down for the rest of the race and luckily he got a penalty at the last corner giving me P6.

Manufacturers:
Once again wasn't happy with my quali lap but it was P9 this time. Tried to keep it on the track for the first few laps and had made it around P6 before my first stop on lap 4. By the time it was lap 6, I was right behind P2 who was on a one stop but I got caught out by his slow entry to the pit lane, went wide and lost about 4s. Came out from my 2nd stop in a load of traffic but managed to make my way back up to P4, definitely missed out on a P2, but P1 was just on another level for this one

Glad you enjoyed the stream, and it's awesome to hear it helped you get a fantastic victory in Nations! It's hard to get a victory there with slipstream and how hard the cars are to drive, so really awesome job mate!

Just in time yesterday to jump in my seat and take my Audi quattro for the Nations race last slot. Not even time to take a shower , tired , only sweat and flour after 8 hours of hard job at the pizza oven . This is not ok for me, this is the main reason why i will race soon my EU account only that i can do during my free time in the afternoon.
The race was fantastic , i love the car and track. Qualified 3rd place very close from 1st and 2d , all 3 we did a very hard battle during the first half , no contact , very clean , one of the best fun first part i've ever had in GT since a long time. Unfortunately , i was very tired and lost my concentration during a second, together with the braking point for turn 2 . Too bad, i've finished 3rd at 5 seconds after a lone second part race.
I'll finish this season racing americas region but during this time i'm going to work on my EU DR to be ready for the next one.
My EU PSN is quebracoco_84 , i'll see you all there in the future.

Tried my first ever Gr.B race yesterday at Nations. I didn't think I was going to enter, but after some practice time at Red Bull Ring, one of my favorite tracks, I was coming within half a second of the top 10 leaderboard using the OP Quattro, so decided to give it a shot. Entered the first time slot and was ranked pretty high in the lobby, 4th I think, because my DR happens to be peaking right now. I managed an OK qualy lap and started in P5, but could have been better. The race actually went really well except for one minor incident. Gained one position from somebody going off track, then made a big mistake of my own by late-braking into T3 and allowed two to pass, down to 6th. I was faster than they guy in P5 but had a hard time getting a good opportunity to pass cleanly. Finally got a good run on him in the penultimate turn on the penultimate lap, slipped up on the inside of him, then he turned in on me and he either showed himself off track to force the penalty or it was actually enough to send him off track. Either way, I was as far to the inside as I could have gone and I got the 5s penalty as a result. Settled for 6th, and we'll call it a racing incident because I did have the inside but maybe I could have had it a little more before going for the move. However, had I not received the penalty, I would have been keeping that spot. 6th place for 1400 points is not bad at all.

Manufacturer's didn't go as well. Brands is not my best course, and I'm in the Gr.4 Lexus, which is pretty bad on tires and not the best car for this track. Never got a half-way decent qualy lap, and still managed to qualify 10th, higher than expected after the mistakes. Going into T1 Lap1, especially at Brands, I'm always pretty cautious, which sometimes means the guy behind me gets impatient. He got a better run down the hill and I was worried he was going for the hasty move on the inside of the T2 hairpin so I moved over to protect the inside before he got there....but BAM, he rear-ended me anyway and sent me wide, but I stayed on track. He either waited for me, or the contact slowed him down enough so he couldn't pass me. Doesn't matter though, because heading into T4 I took a center line to protect from the divebomb, but I guess it wasn't enough because same guy still lunged from a few car-lengths back and smashed my left side sending me into the sand. Again he was either waiting for me or gathering himself when the next car in line just barges completely through both of us, which sent me back off track again and I eventually ended up rejoining the track in 2nd to last place. Interestingly enough, the guy who barged past the carnage and sent me off track a 2nd time is the same guy from the Nations race that turned into me, giving me the penalty and costing me the position. Neither of these were extremely dirty moves, but it's certainly not a coincidence that I so often have "racing incidents" with guys from this team. Oh well, not gonna lose sleep over it. Working my way back up, I had the opportunity to pass the divebomber on the inside of the same turn and I went for it, somewhat aggressively, and the bomber must've seen me coming because he stayed wide and we made it through there without contact. In hindsight, I think he knew he ruined my race earlier and was expecting to meet me again in the later laps. Ended up finishing in 10th where I started, for 980 points. Should have been much better but when you get punted to almost last place on Lap 1, the outlook is pretty grim.
