Dividing an already low player base region is not a good idea imo. I don't like this.

Also don't like the multiple chances in the FIA races.

The positive is that at least the people in South America will have better servers.

Here's my take on this ridiculous turn of events: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/daily-race-discussion.373268/page-732#post-12558928

And you are assuming that PD will open new servers in latin america. We don't know that for sure yet.

Agree with the multiple chances at FIA races. Terrible way to do things.

You gonna need a new account lol

I'm pretty sure there will be dedicated servers in São Paulo, otherwise it doesn't make any sense dividing the region. Almost every big esports games have them here. I had no issues with the server being in USA tho. Always good connection quality.

The only region that could need a division would be europe with the amount of players there, and it's the only one not changing.

Also, the level of competition will be even lower with less people.

It will be interesting to see how these new regions play out. On one hand, I'm kinda ok with it because I'm hoping I'll start doing better with a lower playerbase, but on the other hand, theres less people and a chance of getting a crazy difference of skills in one lobby. Also hoping that the ability to do multiple FIA races in a day is just for the exhibition seasons, and not official ones...

+1000 on your remarks.

Now, back to the million dollar question which you and I were trying to figure out back in the FIA pre-season tournaments: What on Earth should I do now with my account? If they open servers in Sao Paulo I would love to take advantage of the reduced lag. But: If I create an Argentine account and get invited to an event will they kick me out when they see my US passport even though I am a legal permanent resident of Argentina? I don't understand why they have refused to clarify this in the rules.

I think you would be eligible being a resident of Argentina. Dont you have any kind of ID from there? Just need to show them you have permit to be in Argentina. Tom will figure it out i'm sure.

Yeah I have my DNI national ID card so I guess (hope) it wouldn't be a problem.

If we get a Brazilian server I would be happy for the reduced lag.

If you don’t like the changes, just boycott the races.

None of these changes are positive. If it is trying to fix the disconnection issue it seems pretty half-assed

Personally I don’t like the chances for multiple entries, but I figure that its something to with the Disco’s.

Sadly the decision to allow multiple entries is telling me that whatever bug was introduced is here to stay and this is their solution.

Yep but it's ok as now with multiple entries if you do well in your first race you can take out some rivals in the next one, a step in the right direction.:yuck::banghead:

Next season in the Manufacturer Series, there are 5 GR3 races and 3 GR4.
So basically, very few will participate in the GR4 races and will pick a good GR3 car.

I would imagine the multiple entries is for a couple of reasons 1. Disconnects and 2. To try and get away from the one slot only having high points?

Personally don’t like this change, some are going to get 5 entries where as others who struggle to enter one like myself will be at a disadvantage. I like the one shot only approach to the fia races it’s a much better setup.

Echoing the above statements. Americas and Oceania competitiveness is going to be very diluted. I mean Makozi could down a bottle of absinthe, drive with a guitar hero controller and still qualify after this update...

And yup, I think this is a cheap fix for the disconnects and a cheap fix for the multi account cheaters.

I generally don't like the keep going until you fluke a good result approach either. I don't want it to be about who can do 5 lobbies and fluke a good result rather than who can deliver when it matters.

I knew the region split was coming as that was 1 thing mentioned in Monaco. I believe the Australia/New Zealand split from Asia was due to new Zealand having to race at stupid o clock? I think they said it was 2am, but don't quote me on that, which does make more sense. Americas I know was due to the latency issues. We did mention EU and how crazy it was but nothing confirmed.

Although I have to say I'm ridiculously disappointed in that FIA update.... You can enter every race!? You're going to see people who literally have a spare 5/6 hours a night dominate it. It's worth noting that in any interview (Minus GTPlanet but you guys know your stuff already ) I was involved in at Monaco time spent was always brought up. I always said it didn't matter that much because I knew it was 1 shot. This changes it which is sad to be honest. There isn't a chance I can get time off work to commit to even 4 hours racing a night, I struggle to get home on Wednesday for the 2 (I'm literally sprinting home, overtaking the 40 mph club folks, getting in, microwave and kettle on overtime while I leg it round the house and try prep the stream at the same time)! Lets hope it's just a test thing though and they go back!

I still don't get why they can't just change a flag during the grid or at least after the qualifying session from 0 to 1 to say they've entered that race.

Interesting time for a break between seasons, I'm assuming this is to give them space for the patch, would have loved to have seen some form of break over the Christmas period but I do understand that not everyone celebrates that.

Completely agree with the negative comments about the multiple race entry change. For me, a huge part of the fun of the FIA events was knowing that they were a one time entry. It adds a sense of occasion and puts some pressure on to actually deliver in that particular session - much like it does in real life. Yes, it's harsh if you get a disconnect and that sucks! But as Tiddles says above there must be other ways of showing whether a race has been entered or not. I for one certainly hope they revert back to how it was!

My condolences to any Nissan drivers at Blue Moon tonight. Just had a practice race there and it was brutal.

I’ve been loving practicing for today’s FIA races this week, as I’ve finally had some free time do so, instead of relying on the hours or even minutes before I enter the race to prepare me.

At RBR I can hold my own against some of the best in the game, so I should do well in the race as long as I don’t bin it.

BMB Infield A II is awesome too. I think it flows pretty well both ways but I was skeptical of it before I tried it. I’m not a world beater there or anything, but I’m gonna try to make the Lexus work. I’m also loving the strategy options, it’ll be interesting to see who chooses what for tires.

See you all on the Americas server this evening, and good luck.

:gtpflag::cheers:

Just doing Manufacturers tonight for those interested, and the first split to! As I'm racing in something else later.

I've just managed to set my record for points from an FIA race. 3rd at Austria. 905 points. 7.5 seconds behind the leader with one absolute ******** 5 second penalty undercutting a guy at the top of the hill, I need to check. Then I braked too late at turn 4 and punted the guy in 3rd off at one point and slowed to let him past. We should have been challenging for the lead, but oh well. I don't know how I've done that.

ED - I JUST WATCHED IT BACK. I WAS DOING 40MPH AND TAPPED HIM AND GOT FIVE SECONDS. WHAT.

Has there been any talk that manufactures can be changed the next season?

I really hope so but I doubt that until the new year. I really hope they put up an actual explanation of how long you are tied to a manufacturer next time. Not that difficult to put something up really and want to make an informed decision.

God, I hope they allow us to change Manufacturers at some point. Sick to death of trying to get the Pug to compete in a tyre wear championship.

Anyway, made a complete mess of the quali in the manufacturers today. Spun on the 1st fast lap, and out braked myself on the 3rd, so ended up in 11th with my safe lap. Even though 2 stop on softs is the quickest, I decided to 1 stop on mediums and it sort of worked. Kept myself out of trouble and made a couple of half decent overtakes, and managed to work my way up to 6th, and only a couple of seconds behind 3rd, so had quite an enjoyable race. No punts and no mistakes make me a happy boy :)

Not sure if I will do the Nations as it seems a bit suicidal for my SR

Got rammed in the main straight of the manufacturer race by a ghost. That made me spin and it broke every single parts of my car... And when I say ghost, not it's not a car that was serving a penalty. I've been hit and I had no one arround me. That's frustrating when you take 40 minutes of your life to do that crap FIA race to end up being hit by a bug. It blows my mind how this kind of bugs can happen in a ''high budget'' game like Gran Turismo in 2018.

Did you save replay?

The Prototype Lexus against four 911s is a fair fight at Blue Moon.

But lo and behold, I took a massive gamble and tried to one stop... on the SOFTS! Please do not try this at home.

Nations, I heard the points were awful, I didn't practice and huge risk of losing SR. No, thank you!
