Well I was able to close out this exhibition season on a great note by winning my Nations race last night. It was my first time ever winning an FIA race in a top split lobby, so a major milestone for me. I shared the replay in-game and it's public, so anybody can see it if they are interested, but I've never shared a replay on here before so I'm gonna have to figure that out someday, lol.

Nations: qualified 6th, but could have done much better. I was regularly lapping 1:06.8-1:07.2 in practice lobbies, but only got a 1:07.5 in actual qualifying. Grid start, oh boy, this made T1 interesting. Exiting T1 I got sandwiched by a guy who went wide and was trying to re-enter the track wherever he pleased, that put me down to 8th. Karma would end up finding him later. I had decided early on that I wasn't going to risk penalties by going wide through T1 at all, even though sometimes you could get away with it. This proved to be valuable and by lap 2 I was back up to 7th due to other people's mistakes and penalties. One of the frontrunners punted somebody and got a 5s penalty he had to serve, then on his way back up through the pack he encountered his teammate and they were kind enough to crash into each other on the final turn of the lap, so I moved up again. I eventually overtook my way to 2nd place by lap 6, but the leader had been racing alone uncontested for awhile and had a 5.5s lead on everyone. I decided the only chance I had to catch him was the undercut, so I pitted early on lap 7. For some reason, he stayed out and didn't pit until lap 9 which was a huge mistake. Right as he was pulling out of the pits I passed him and then he had to battle the guy behind me for position. At this point I was still in 2nd behind a no-stopper who surprised us all by taking the lead (@Canada_25). I was worried that would happen, but I've raced against charles_asselin before and he's a true sportsman, he kindly let me by when I approached him on fresh tires and from that point forward it was no mistakes and no penalties that gave me the victory for 1900 points. My biggest FIA points haul yet.

Manufacturer's wasn't as successful, but was very exciting and awesome to drive around lots of familiar names like @cyclingjudoka and @Dezcom. They are always fast, clean and respectable drivers. Strategy differences made this race pretty crazy, but in the end I finished 8th which wasn't a bad result for me in this car and on this track. 1300 points was good enough to beat my lowest score of the season, so I improved my total and that's all I can ask for.

I'm super pleased with the results in both Nations and MFG, and will be sitting out the next season and not playing much for a few weeks. It's been a pleasure racing with you all, and I'll be back for the next official season if not sooner.

Well I was able to close out this exhibition season on a great note by winning my Nations race last night. I think it was the top split lobby but not sure, it's hard to tell in these weird combos when they don't attract as many racers. Either way it was a good, clean win against some tough competition.

Qualified 6th, but could have done much better. I was regularly lapping 1:06.8 to 1:07.2 in practice lobbies, but could only manage a 1:07.5 in actual qualifying. You and I were doing great climbing thru the field but then the 1st pitstop cycle came and I had a brain fart and pitted 1 lap later than you guys and it killed my overall pace. ( ) Great job on your finish!

Bit late with this but did both races the other day.
Nations went better than expected given the lobby I was in, somehow managed to not gain or lose any positions on lap 1 and after that slowly made my way up through the field, probably should've finished a position higher but almost lost the car of couple of times.

Manufacturers didn't really go too well. Tried to hold out for a 1 stop and then made a late call for a 2 stop, that coupled with going off twice at the same corner gave for a poor performance. Given all that happened, result was better than it probably should've been.

Regarding the multiple entries, I'll probably just stick to the 1 go at each one (assuming I don't disconnect before it starts)

Does anyone know if you get awarded the "Star Player" rank after each individual season or after the complete set of seasons?

It used to be after each individual season, but it did take a little bit of time after the season finished before I received my confirmation. Something I'm not sure of, is if S-ranks have been handed out for these Exhibition Seasons. Maybe some other members here can comment on that.

My S rank was from the first exhibition season.

Really tempted to
Go with Ford for the next manufacturers ...

Don’t think I’ve ever used the gr4 mustang though but I’m in love with the gr3...only tried it for the first time recently!

Is the gr4 competitive? Don’t recall seeing it much...

Gr 3 and Gr 4 Ford Mustang are good cars, easy to drive and could be more competitive in FIA races if we will have less tyre wear settings.
At the moment they have worst front tyre wear among all FR cars (I have tested this). Maybe worst among all cars.
Its due to a lot of understeer on both of them even with brake balance all to the back.

With the fact there’s no tyre wear in race B I never knew that at all so thank you.

Tbh tyre management is probably one of my strongpoints so think I’ll stick with the ford!

It is not about management. It is about surviving.
The last race on Blue Moon infield A it was not possible to do 1 stop on medium or 2 stops on soft. The only way to race was 2 stops on medium with tyre manegement.
Try tyre wear on mustang yourself.

Unless it's been changed I remember the Gr4 Mustang having pretty bad fuel economy at the end of official season 1. Never really struggled too much with tire wear but the Gr3 has a lot of understeer for sure.

With the Oceania region splitting off in Sport Mode (at least for now) I thought I'd float the idea of organising a super-top split for this coming season, much like the Asian server had before. The best solution would likely be to have everyone enter the first Manufacturers slot, then the second Nations slot, since the races start really late in New Zealand.

Best 3/8 and you can try in every time slot. Expecting much higher scores from less consistent drivers this season or ones with more time on their hands.

Going to be a different dynamic, but I think this might be a good approach. Retry attempts means busier lobbies, so more points to be awarded overall.

I doubt the points will be higher outside of Europe since the region splitting will make up for it

Yeah busier lobbies and likely better points but a massive disadvantage to those who can only enter one. Don’t like it personally, far more of an occasion only doing one, if someone commits to one championship they potentially get five goes at it.

Excited to get stuck in with a new season tomorrow lads, haven't played since Monaco as I wanted to take some time away from sim racing in general and really come back fresh and excited for it, and this new season is a great time to jump back in :)

I'll be going full degenerate on Nations specifically due to the new racing in multiple timeslots rules, Im interested to see how this new direction ends up affecting things. I like how they're finally using test seasons to actually test new ideas

I think giving the players the chance to re-queue for FIA races if they feel like racing again is a positive move in the exhibition season at least, no need to deny a player fun that they could be having. However, I feel they should've bumped up the number of counting rounds to reward players who are putting the time into Sport Mode. It would also make it harder for inconsistent drivers to finish high on the back of a couple of good scores.

And I wouldn't want this current set-up to remain in place for the next official season either. There were enough drop rounds to make having only one attempt per series per night fine in most cases, and short of disconnects there were just a few specific cases, primarily in Europe, that need looking at for next time around.

Just did some testing's with the R8 as well as with the Mclaren and i guess they are alright

Race times for Oceania region FIA races still havent changed, earliest time slot for me = midnight........
I get up at 5am every morning
R.I.P GT Sport

And... disconnected :banghead:

Edit: Make that twice.

The timeslots for Australia/NZ FIA races really should change to 2 hours earlier.

Create another account and do FIA in US/South America?

This should not have to be an issue after the latest update...

The earliest FIA timeslot in Australia is 22:00 Eastern (19:00 Western), earliest race time in NZ is 00:00. This is not conducive to growing or maintaining a player base at all.

This would make sense if the rest of Asia with the largest player base still had to be accomodated (earliest time slots would be 19:00-20:00 in Japan through Indonesia). However now PD have split Oceania from the rest of Asia, there is no valid reason this time slot cannot or should not be changed.
