Aside from my 3rd place finish in the Manufactures (in the WRX!! WOW) I had a complete shocker last night.

You were in almost all of my races last night, I was really happy with the pace of the Lexus in the Nations, but the driving behaviour (especially when dealing with differring strategies) was absolutely woeful! I did all 3 Nations races and was in the top 5 in qually each time.

The general level of sportmanship in the races last night was terrible. So many rammers and generally selfish racing. Second corner I brake as the guy in front of me has braked and I get swamped by people thinking it's still a qually lap and ram me off.

05XR8 I believe I overtook you late in the race as I'd run RM to the 10th lap and swapped to RS's and had a better end to the race with fresh rubber. The overtake I think was into the second last corner and I went up the inside. I recall seeing the #1 on your car.

Hadn't realised I had a battle with you in the last 5 minutes of the race. Also, I just missed beating that Ford GT, after you passed it, at the line.
 
Alpine VGT topped the Asia leaderboards for Nations as of the early morning, so I'll use it...probably...

Is the Nations race on Saturday a no chicane one? If so I assume it is Nissan, Mazda, Jag and then Sauber? Will be nice to have a Group C race if anything can compete with the Nissan.

Regular version of Le Mans.

Whilst on the subject of the Nations race, I have a tip for those using the Audi R18 '16. Some top players might already know this, but in order to have full boost for your qualifying lap, you should gently ride the brake from the Porsche Curves through to the end of your out-lap.

Should be a diverse grid tomorrow. I'm expecting the aforementioned Audi to see use, as well as the Mazda LM55 and SRT Tomahawk. Nissan R92CP is competitive here despite the chicanes, as long as the tyres aren't too bad. Unlike the L750R, the Peugeot 908 hasn't been nerfed since last time, so it has potential. Maybe the Hyundai 2025 and Porsche 919 too, though again it hinges on tyres since you absolutely cannot afford to pit in the race.

I'm looking forward to this superstars race, Group 1 Le Mans always been a strong combo for me in GT Sport, and I think I can finish really high up in the Oceanic Nations standings.

The McLaren can be dragged by the Nissan on straight and way faster than Audi '16 . For the tires , it can do 3 laps eating half of the front left . Perhaps it will be my option for the event.

Well OK, I'll probably use an LM55, the car that I'm originally intend to use...or my trusty R18...or a McLaren, my first Gr.1 car in my entire GT Sport life...
 
Hmm, what are the track limits at La Sarthe? I did a 3:35.034 in the 787B just to get a feel for the car again. I next did a 3:26.494. The following lap I got so sloppy, I gained 1.3 seconds at various spots with no penalties. I went 3:26.073 at the end of that lap(lost time, as I hit the right side wall at the esses, before the Porsche curves).

Hit a 3:19.4 in the Alpine on Meds. But Lamb warned me about its tyres, so I would probably not use it.

Track limits are pretty inconsistent, really...like the first chicane as an example
 
Manu T16SS Tip: 8/9 or 9/8 would be for the ambitious guys on Softs. And for those who wish to have better tyres at the end may go for a 5/6/6 or a 6/6/5. Oh and DON'T BURN FUEL AT THE START!

I would like to see the multipliers dialled back a little, maybe 2 ticks and then fuel consumption brought up a bit. I think it would balance out the cars a little, as early last year, it was all about the cars that could sip the fuel and fuel saving in the draft. And now it is all about the cars that wear their tires the least. Balancing those two out a little more could bring more cars into play.

I like this idea. Im totally okay with people gaining a small edge on wear, but with these big multipliers the gap is just too great. And i too hope that fuel will become a factor again. Its one of VW's major strengths and i can't use it to my advantage :(

That was a fun race, and congrats on the win! That moment where we went three wide on the back straight was instense lol. My tires were starting to go on the third lap and i was honestly planning to let you and stagger by, but thats not exactly where i planned to do it lol... Still, everyone was beyond clean and we made it work somehow. Good stuff 👍

Nations... I really can't put into words. Just go to the 15:00 mark and take a look at it yourselves. I had great overall pace and most likely a win and that happens. What am I supposed to do, game? :grumpy:

That was terribly unlucky :( This confirms that the ghosting is definitely broken since one of the last couple of updates. That car should have ghosted the moment he went near-perpendicular to the track! Now the question is whether it's a bug or just PD trying to add drama to the mix...
 
I don't think the VW VGT has that short shifting fuel advantage any more. Pretty sure they fixed it when they did the 1.32 update, so it is just average when you short shift and its poor when you rev it all the way.
 
My initial thought was the R8 lost tyre grip. The player actually downshifted faster than shaving speed and it began to spin



Still happy with how I managed tyre wear in that race. The DTG race should be real good. I love the circuit and after two laps, am only about 1.5 seconds away from the Bottom top 10. Might practice more, to see if I can crack a 29.

Question:

Do you already have to be DR S (and not DR A+) to enter the Top 16 race?

I re-read the season preview, which only mentioned that it was up to 12 drivers per nation (in Australia/NZ) in terms of championship points. However the race entry screen says minimum driver rating S.

It appears as though PD will not be changing this oversight in time for Superstars tonight, so DR S is indeed required. Looks like you're in the Top 16 Nations race after all Rangeraus.

For everyone else, remember that there's an extra timeslot going live 10 minutes after each Superstars slot now, so even if you're outside the 16 there's no harm in trying, in case someone no-shows.
 
I think if PD made it so you had to use both tyre compounds in the race like they did in the official event races, it would be a good move. Tonights race isn't so much going to be a race, but a "who can survive the best" race.

Lion's idea is good, tyre wear is too much of a premium at the moment. Admittedly I hated the fuel saving races last year too lol.
 
Tonight's first Oceania Nations race (highest rank lobby) had some pretty poor driving from people who should know better.

Complete and utter joke, was a disappointing way to end an otherwise well run season. Nations was the race I was looking forward to more anyway but it still sucks to miss the other race I qualified for despite bolting from the lobby as fast as I could to sign up. Could it have killed PD to make the warm up just 2 minutes like regular FIA so we could actually fit the race in?

Nice job Polyphony. If you enter the Nations race you won't end the race in time to make it into the Manufacturers race. They clearly didn't think about it. So the Oceania top 16 superstar race has none of the Nations superstars in it

Well that was definitely a surprise. Turns out I would have made it in anyway as Mint didn't enter.

But really it should only be based on having SR S and points acquired. Three regional finalists (or world tour entrants) who had more points than me missed out.
