Or... there's a conscious effort to make the top drivers choose?
Unlikely. The race was set up to finish just in time so that we'd be able to rush across and join Manu in theory. In practice, the extra minute spent waiting for everyone to be connected (and of course one guy still got DC), and the extra 4 minutes tacked on to qualifying so that everyone could complete their laps, put us far enough behind schedule to screw everyone over.

It was a matter of seconds too, if I could've signed up for Manu just 10 seconds sooner I would've been in.

That will determine some battles for country honours, as well as the manufacturers themselves. Pretty frustrating to say the least.

I see now that I ended up 2nd in NZ and got beaten to Toyota honours too. If this ends up meaning something, then that is complete horse you know what

Started 12th, finished 11th in the 787B(3:33.xxx). 4 laps on the harder compound and pushed the last 2 laps on the softer tyre. Worked for me.

Started 2nd(1:31.9) in the Atenza. RS all race. Pitted Lap 5 and Lap 9. Got 0.6 seconds for running wide at T1 to avoid hitting 1st place. Held up by a yellow Supra that shut the door at the hairpin and a cone gets stuck under my car(lost 3 seconds). Worked my way up from 8th place after my last stop, 3 seconds behind 2nd place.

Now that the season is finished we can't check points standings for the championships in-game. Not a great layout.

Indeed. I may have just pipped one of the Nations Superstars for 2nd place for my selected manufacturer - courtesy of me being able to enter the manufacturers superstars race.

Nice job Polyphony. If you enter the Nations race you won't end the race in time to make it into the Manufacturers race. They clearly didn't think about it. So the Oceania top 16 superstar race has none of the Nations superstars in it
I feel for you.

That would just weaken the fields for both superstars races - it doesn't make sense.
Yes and no.

A few years ago, GT Academy created a rule that banned previous participants from attending finals events. The notion behind that was to get some fresh faces in, as opposed to the same few trying over and over again. Someone who has the experience of a race camp knows what to expect and can train for it and become good enough to compete for the win, making it harder for the new people to fight against someone the Academy already decided wasn't good enough. It possibly made the field weaker, but also increased the chances of finding an unknown gem.

Perhaps PD has made it just seconds too tight for someone to drive in both with the same goal - getting some new faces in. At the Monaco World Finals last year, every single Asian group Manufacturer Series finalist was Japanese. Maybe it's trying to force some of the podium-placing Nations Cup Australian and New Zealand drivers to focus on taking the top ranking for their manufacturer instead to get some more variety in that competition.

It's always tweaking the FIA-Certified events, so maybe this is a very conscious tweak. It's also just as possible that it really is a timing cock-up.

Well Polyphony can just spend even more money on travel and accommodation if this was a designed decision to get more faces for the live events.

The loading times were all the difference. We in Oceania got a slow load, because one guy suffered the kicked from lobby glitch and the game tried to 'wait' for them. Asia didn't have that issue and thus was able to finish up just in time for those who risked it to rush across to Manufacturers and actually get in.

That just makes it even more infuriating that we got screwed over knowing that it was possible to finish up within 60 minutes if not for a stupid bug that should've been patched by now. If it can't be fixed, at least give us the option to reenter an FIA lobby if we fail to connect or disconnect, as long as the race itself hasn't started.

So what I’ve read so far is that even though you’re not SS if you’re leading your manufacturer you can still join the top 16? Or am I missing something.

No, you need to be SS to get in a Top 16 and have a monsterous DR. Doesn't matter your position in the manufacturers, they only really matter for the real world events.

Only had time to try one race in the Nations tonight and it didn't really go to plan. Qualified in 14th and was in a decent race for the 1st lap or so with a couple of other drivers. Unfortunately the standard punt from behind at Mulsanne came on lap 2, and that was the end of that. Took me 20 seconds to turn around and get going again, so that was the end of the race for me. Managed to recover to 15th from dead last, but wasn't exactly a fun race to end the season on.

Hopefully we will be able to change manufacturers for next season as want to try a new car.

I joined my first FIA event today. The dailies suffer from lack of ideas so I thought after more than a year of active racing it would be nice to try something new.

I signed up for Porsche and joined my the Manufacturers cup. Not knowing about the whole procedure (i.e. that there is a seperate Q-run) I started from 17 of 18. I kept my temper and tried to stay clean. Time played for me and other cars got caught in brawls so I finished 13th. I got a 1s penalty for showing a way too agressive Ferrari „And no, this time you‘re not going to push through by any means“ (I cannot judge the penalty yet if it‘s right or wrong since I haven‘t watched the replay yet).

Then I wanted to join Nations Cup but unfortunately my Connection went down shortly before transition from practice to race.

But reading about the timing problem herr and considering the fact that the connection in GT-Sport seems to be fragile over the last days: could it be possible that PD is having problems? Over the last days GTS said „No connection“ while my Network was actually up and running.

EU account first time i was free and had access to the top 16 room on Le mans. :)
But ...... due to a barbecue , beer and carnaval combination , i've pressed the button on the wrong room , past 10 after the hour :irked: .... I win but i earn only 750 points.

I'm not quite sure what happened today...In Nations I qualied last after getting crashed into twice, but got back up to 15th with fastest lap in the mix. Car number was 20.
In Manufacturer's (for Porsche) I got car number 15, started 14th and finished 9th.

This resulted in losing nearly 2.7k DR points and dropping out of B 🤬

I currently sure am FAR off the pace I used to have , but I don't really understand this harsh drop to be honest.

Edit: SR is S with 99 points

I'm not sure what the rules at DTG were, but I didn't see any.

Did have to laugh at a post-race message "Dude, you almost took me out" from a guy who literally rammed me off the road at the final chicane not four laps previously.

Weirdly, best result all season in both races though. I need to get back up to A - I only lost it because I got DCed twice in a row in FIA races last year - and get races where I regularly get 1k again. The pace at B is not significantly different, and I could be getting 50% more points for the same race times.

I don't remember what your EU account is but you wouldn't have been in Top 16. The lobby was exactly what I expected it to be, except for the fact Lightning didn't enter and Nussini replaced him.

You must be right .My EU PSN is quebracoco I'm far behind but the slot was lighted , i don't know how it work exactly. Anyway , Normally i race in rooms where the points are between 1500 and 1800 . It was very low punctuation this time.

Well I had a mixed bag with the final two races of the season.

I ran the Toyota GR.1 car and had pace to compete for the top positions, starting 4th I found myself quickly overtaken with a lack of knowledge on the hard tires, got myself caught up in a silly fight and copped myself a penalty (entirely my fault) which dropped me to 8th which is where I stayed. Disappointed in the result as I love that car/track combo but that's how the dice falls sometimes.

Running the Ferrari, I had no hope for this round. It is a track I am not familiar with, a car which chews it's tires and doesn't like curbs, which that track encourages you to hop curbs for good times. So I was expecting to qualify 8th and finish outside top ten. To my surprise I qualified 5th on my banker lap as I messed up my low fuel run. So was happy with that, and then in the race I took an early position at turn 1, much to the disgust of 4th place as I seemed to scare him off the track being told my move was amateur after the race. Anywho, from there 3rd place dropped it on lap 2 so I had to survive 13 laps of holding the position. I knew my car would drop off, and had gone into the race planning a 2 stopper as my practice had shown I could barely run 5 laps on Soft tires. But I had the position, I was driving well to keep the tires good and pushed on to finish 3rd! My best result for Ferrari and FIA points for Manufacturers this season, really stoked!

Below is my stream, but bookmarked at the start of the race where I overtook 4th and was called an amateur. The rest of the race was more about holding on and driving well rather than outright action.
