🤬 Penalty crap! Started 17th. I make my way up to 2nd when everyone pits. Ran long to Lap 8. Had fresh tyres and a nice short fuel to jump up to 9th. CAtch 8th place past the Dunlop bridge. Pass 8th as they are on worn tyres, at the second right-hander. Get hit with 2 seconds!! We gave each other room negotiating the turns. PLUS, it has me serve the penalty on the straight! That must be a first. WAS a good race for me until that point.👎

In terms of raw time with no other cars on track, the 1 stop is normally faster. But in the race with other cars and time loss, the no stopper is generally a safer option

I normally have trouble driving on worn tyres so the 1-stop strategy is the safer option for me. Traffic can be an issue, that's true.

I agree that there are tracks where the no-stopper is faster in many cases because of how long the pitlane is (Interlagos, Barcelona...) but the RBR always was quite short. I think I'm gonna go with the 1-stop today, even though I'm driving the Toyota.
I can't really make the front softs last longer that 6-7 laps. If I find the time I might try putting Mediums in the front...

Unbefreakinlievable! This race was crazy with a yellow AMG not knowing what the heck was going on. Smashed into me T2. Like no brakes. Smashed into everyone around it. I got punted mayeb 4-5 times after that. Then, absolute no patience by half the drivers mid-pack. It's a tyre race. Conserve TYRES! NO! Full speed for everything.

Two cars on FRESH tyres, rejoin in a pack of us long runners. About 5-6 cars all together. Instead of giving way to the cars on fresh tyres, they hold them up and start trying to battle. Ridiculousness. A player I've raced against plenty and fairly, was quicker in the two sweepers in the middle of the circuit. Instead of being patient, he keeps bumping me on exit. I also got FL, so I wasn't slow. Must have been a virus everyone caught.

I qualified 7th. I'd advise try to qualify 1st-3rd. Get away from the carnage.

Yep, sounds like me.
I wish it wouldn't drop me into the top split, I'm just not fast enough for that.

There's a guy driving for Ford who I haven't seen in any races yet, and yet he's scored more points than I have.
Wouldn't mind finding myself in his room at some stage.
But with my DR slowly dropping with each Manu race, it will probably happen soon.


On another note, I see that the website has ranked me as a "Generation 50".
Not sure whether to laugh or cry.

I can run the race in lobbies in a bit under 18 minutes. Which is great if you ever get a clean race.

But what happens is that the top speed of the 4C is so bad that you will get overtaken into turn 1 here. You then have to pray and hope that anyone on mediums in front of you doesn't start battling someone (or blocking). As soon as you get checked up in a corner, the next person behind you will blast past you on the next straight. Rinse and repeat.

I used to think like this, even tanked a few dailies to try to run from the top split. In the end I decided to embrace the challenge, knowing full well my chances at a strong result and points are less. I am just enjoying these races for what they are, a chance to run with the best. You have to have the mindset of wanting to be in that top lobby, just adjust your goals so even a top 15, is a win. As soon as your able to put it in the top 15, then set your goal to top 12, or even top 10. One foot in front of the other, small steps is how you climb the mountain.

Just not my night, couldn't get the Gr2 hooked up in any strategy, and got DC'ed from the last manu slot, Aston takes a hit this round. Even though it wasn't strong I could salvage a few manufacturer ranking points but not tonight.

That makes at least 3 people that got disconnected from that last manufacturer slot including me as well... so it looks like it is a server error, which is not great.

The Group 2 race was intense. My first ever pole position in an online race, ended up third after a rear ending from HiddenFile sent me off my line. But that still resulted in my first ever podium finish for the Sport Mode, so I'm happy with that 👍

Manufacturer's race was more like a scenic cruise through the German countryside. Qualified sixth from a last second flying lap, and wafted up to second in the AMG SLS after several others span out, and that was that for most of the race. No chance of catching tcoomer53's Cayman though, already 7 seconds ahead, and by the end of the race the split was some 20 seconds and counting. Pperhaps I should have stuck with Porsche. There was a brief battle with the Alfa 4c of supergman80 that put me back in third, but cutting the last corner heading into the final lap meant they were lumped with a penalty, allowing me back in. Everything was going fine until I failed to factor in the state of the Merc's tires (dead), and braked too little on the second last turn, running wide into the last corner. I too was hit with a penalty, and wound up back in fourth after crossing the line. Still, two of the best races I've ever had, and two of my best ever results

Yeah I know at least 5 others in the same boat, hopefully the everyone got kicked and we keep slot 2 points, such a shame I was hoping for another good battle and semi decent points

What tyre strategy did you go for? Seems that a no stopper should be quicker, so long as I don't make any silly mistakes that will get increasingly harder as the laps tick by.

Not really possible with the AMG, at least not with me driving, and using a DS4. The tyre wear multiplier meant I went with mediums (no point in softs), and pitted about 6th lap. If driving the Merc you'll need to manage your fuel as well, as it's just slightly under what you'd need to finish so keep an eye on that.

Not with the Cayman, at least for me. Front left falls off after lap 7, after that I'm losing 2 seconds per lap. Rather just do 2 stints with Softs.

Probably gonna skip Manu... just keep practicing on the WRX and i just feel like a lost cause for me. The Gr.3 is manageable and has its pro but Gr.4 feels like a nerfed Lancer

Went from starting P11 to finishing P3 in the nation's cup race and nearly won if not for braking a tad late into the final sector on the last lap.
The conclusion, I need to get better at qualifying in these races.

Tried a no-stop in the Huracan..last two laps were hell, but I did end up getting my first ‘over 1000’ points result.

Nations was decided by the qualifying, I ended up in 15th (0.6 down on pole) so tried the no stop strategy (fuel saving like crazy and hard tyres). Might have worked ok, but the carnage on the 1st lap got me and cost me about 10 secs, so didn't have enough space after the pit stops to stay ahead of the pack so ended up in 12th. Got 900 points.

Manufacturers was better as I qualified in 2nd, but again went for a no-stop in my FF VW Scirocco (Medium fronts with soft rears). First 5 laps was fun as was having a good battle with an Audi and Mercedes, but they both pitted. Then an Alfa went flying past at about half way and I just held on for grim death to get 2nd by about 1.5 secs. Not sure if the no-stop was faster, but worked ok for me even with the front tyres basically gone by the end. Another 1900 points is a great start for me

Would have done videos for both races but not sure who would want to watch me fuel and tyre save. Results do mean that I am up to A+ for the first time ever

In nations I also went for FM RS with a Subaru. Messed up quali, so 11th. Went up to 6th, got punted to the beach and 15th. Only chance was to hold off as much as possible (end of 7th lap) and go for a sprint on softs. Recovered to 11th with 100ms behind the punter. Well what can you do, no time for another one.

Qualified 3rd and finished 4th at Fuji, but I had a really weird start. Once auto-start had finished and we were in control of our cars I was about .700 behind 2nd and about .300 ahead of 4th. I ended up having to spend the first two laps trying to fight off about three cars based purely on that.

Ed - I have discovered the problem. Don't use automatic transmission, kids.

Congrats for your podium

Just watched the replay of our race and that was funny to see how the winning Alfa, who was behind me in P8 before I pitted managed to coming back to you, and win the race. His tires were completely clean at the end.

Thanks to that race i'm also up to A+, but now I really need to work on my quali laps...

The tyres wear was horrible for the nation's cup, only just managed a one stop with s/s tyres in the V8 vantage with a DS4. Tyres were basically dead at the end of lap 6.
Edit: just noticed I said nation's and ment manufacturers, nation's was fine with tyres my bad
