I've not tried the Nations yet, but might give it a try after the manufacturers race. Don't want to try it before as I guess SR might be difficult to keep up.
Saying that I did manage to punt Jomas into the desert at a practice race last night at Big Willow, so my SR might be wrecked before I get to Blue Moon :)

Could be messy night

Sorry for the dumb question...but what is the car needed for Nations today? Can't find it mentioned and keep forgetting to look when i'm on my PS. Cheers

Red Bull X2014 Junior. If in doubt, check the official Stage 2 announcement.

Have done a couple of practice lobbies for today's Nations, and I have to say it has the potential to be a fun and unpredictable race. That is, providing that everyone behaves while slipstreaming.

Nations should be fun if everything stays clean. Based on my practice races, fuel at 3 will get you to the end, but you need to save extra in the slipstream for the last 1 or 2 lap sprint at the end.

Took a shock pole in the top split lobby in Oceania Nations today (got lucky with drafting, but still one of my proudest online racing moments :P). Ran near the top for most of the race but I messed up the fuel consumption. In testing FM3 was enough to get to the end, so I didn't even monitor the fuel. I thought drafting = less air resistance and it will give me even more fuel margin. Unfortunately drafting also means you're sitting at a higher rpm for the whole race, and I ran out of fuel on the backstraight of the last lap. Turned a potential victory to an 8th place :ouch: Bittersweet moment for sure. You live and learn I suppose. I can totally symphatise how Alonso feels at Indy 2017. When you're so close to victory, yet so far, it hurts even more.

Manufacturers is another survival race with the tyre wear in the Ferrari. Qualified 8th, did an ultra undercut on lap 5 (switching to RH for the rest). Tyres lasted pretty good but got blocked by a lot of traffic coming out of the pits so lost oodles of time. Still finished 2 positions higher and got my best points tally so far, so pretty happy. Surprised that Toyota/Alfa didn't totally dominate this race. They weren't even in the top 5! Must be an incident because a GT86 qualified ahead of me.

^Thanks for the shout out :O Probably the first and last time I'll ever get mentioned in a top split video lol.

I found that running a high line through T1 is more consistent with fuel load and tyre wear in the race. It loses about 0.1 sec but with drafting you can obviously get that right back. I must say the 800 km of grinding on this track in the X-Bow and the Daily A race with Copens at Tokyo a few weeks back really helped me get a "sense" of draft timing and spacing on ovals. An outlier race for me for sure, but damn it feels good to run amongst aliens for once. Next race the natural order will be reinstated sadly

My two races I have wrapped up in video form rather quickly this time. Trying something new. I did forget to mention @Rangeraus at the end of Manu cup round, well done! Really nice job tonight!

I was very lucky in nations that a few people ran out of fuel to pick up 3rd

Manu I had to drive super defensive to hold on just behind you, video incoming to show @MonkeyMan_707 getting pushed off early on

Really enjoy Bluemoon Bay. Messed up everytime however.

1st attempt: Was 4th until spunned in the 2nd last lap, finished 10th.
2nd attempt: Started 8th, got to 5th in the 1st lap with intension to follow top 3, got hit by someone from the back who then spun and got me a 4 sec penalty. Recover drive from 19th to 4th. You can watch the video below, probably my best recovery drive in FIA.
3rd attempt: 4th and got to 1st with a 5 second lead. Screw up badly in T1 and get 1.5 sec penalty with a couple laps to go:rolleyes:, finished second.

THe recovery drive attempt

Yeah no, i'm glad i can just decide to watch some streams before deciding but Nations is just... not fun to look at.
So you can do a no stop since fuel saving gets you th whole 19 laps but the lead pretty much is doomed.
Geez.

Hmm, 3rd at Blue Moon Bay, but lost about 8 seconds due to a lap 1 incident, and was <8 secs down at the end. I went for a no-stopper, and 2 cars running a stronger fuel mix were passing me at the same time, one either side of me, around T3. I did my best to steer a line between the two of them, but there was contact between my nose and the rear of the car on my outside, which turned them around and I got a 3 second penalty. Without that, I'd have been there or thereabouts for contesting the win. So I feel I could well win if I had another go, but equally there's plenty of scope for it going worse and losing those 3rd place points.......

What confuses me a bit is it seems so easy to gain huge amounts of DR in these FIA races. I've done two of them and gained 1100 and 1200 DR without feeling like there was anything at all special about how I drove. That sort of outcome is much rarer in the daily races.

Was not expecting this result after qualifying 18th..:boggled:

Guess I was the only one who went for the no-stop..:)

That RB Jr is a piece of crap. If you turn for the corner you will spin into inside wall, if you don't turn you will hit the wall on the outside. It's a brilliant decision to have to make.

Both races were bogus for me. RBJ qualifying was silly. I saw some "teams" were doing the Shake n' bake just blowing right by me. Started 19th. Moved up to top 10 urging the race as there were a bit of cars spinning out.

Then, the right rear kept letting loose at T1. I'd just spear off towards the infield wall. Got lapped.

Weeping Willow was more like it for me. My initial qualy was good. Jumped in pits to do a race run on RH. Started second to last.

M4 was doing great. Making up spots. I pit for the undercut. Came out in 15th behind a freight train of cars. They were slowing one another and I caught up. I'm drawing a blank. Can't even remember where I finished.

Should have packed a lunch and just watched from the grand stands.

Just decided to do the Manufacturers tonight as didn't trust myself to survive the carnage at Blue Moon.
Managed to qualify reasonably well, and proceeded to have a decent race. Had an aggressive move put on me by a Porsche, but I wasn't too bothered as I was struggling with the VW's tyres. And then a guy in a Merc pitted early and I wasn't sure what his plan was but kept to my strategy of pitting on lap 6.

Came out just behind the Porsche and the Merc, and they proceeded to take each other out at the last corner so I was in 3rd (1st in a M4 and 2nd in the Alfa were 6 secs up the road at this point), and all I had to worry about was the Toyota behind me. Managed to hold him up until the last lap, but eventually he pulled a good move and so I had to settle for 4th, which I was happy enough for tbh.

Well, what more can I say about today's Nations? An unpredictable and incident-packed race as per Blue Moon Bay tradition.

This time round, I decided to try using my DualShock 4 with motion controls, which after some adjustments and practice turned out to offer much smoother steering inputs than the analog sticks I normally race with. Qualifying was a relatively straightforward affair, with plenty of slipstreaming and clean passes throughout. At one point, someone bump-drafted me going into Turn 2, which lead to improved lap times for both of us and an orange SR triangle for me. Ultimately, however, my fastest time was only good enough for 12th on the grid, just under sixth-tenths off pole. Not too shabby.

Following my experiences in practice lobbies, adopting the no-stop strategy was a no-brainer, and even then I felt I had the pace for a decent result. By the end of Lap 2, I had already climbed up to 8th, not least due in part to an accident wiping out two cars and a penalty hitting one of the early front-runners. However, things took a dip on the next lap when I grazed the outer Turn 1 wall, earning myself a 1.5 second penalty. This happened just as another collision unfolded in front of me on the back straight, taking two more cars out. At this point, I had enough fuel to last an extra lap over the whole race distance; handy for a quick pass made shortly after serving the penalty.

By the half-way mark, I had settled down in 10th place, having witnessed another Turn 1 off and a few more penalties being dished out. The first pit-stop is underway, while another player loses ground - and position - coming out of Turn 3. Another driver pits, promoting me up to 7th. My pace is improving, and I am steadily closing the gap between myself and the race leader. A solid pass for 6th follows. The next few laps see me reeling in the 5th-place runner, to the point that on Lap 15, I get in close behind him on the run through Turn 1.

Disaster strikes.

As I approach the yellow machine, I start to slide on the exit. Backing out causes me to lose rear-end grip and veer onto the infield, fishtailing wildly as I try not to hit the inside wall or soon-to-be sixth-placed car. Fortunately, I regain control, and the gap between myself and 8th place mitigates the damage caused by my lost momentum. Next time I approach Turn 1, the same car that bump-drafted me in qualifying gives me a hefty, but useful shove. A battle for fourth place develops up ahead, allowing me to regain lost ground. Come the final lap, I nearly repeat the same mistake as before, having to back out of the car in front as we go through Turn 1 for the last time. Seconds later, the 5th place runner loses control and smashes into the inside wall, gifting both of us one more position. Side-by-side along the back straight, I pull my way through to 5th, only to settle for 6th when one of the one-stoppers blazes past me on the run to the finish.

Penalty and Turn 1 scares aside, I felt glad to have had another great top 10 finish, and to have raced with motion controls. With the right settings, the X2014 Junior responds well to my steering inputs, and the experiment has compelled me to practice driving vehicles from other categories using these controls. Furthermore, while there was the occasional bump draft and plenty of other incidents around me, I am glad that no-one blatantly squeezed me into the walls as is often the case on circuits such as Blue Moon Bay. Makes a refreshing change from some of the oval races I've had in the past...

I went from 10th to 3rd in top split in an Aston at Willow  A few mistakes up front and some nice overtakes and found myself 3rd going into the first pitstop.

Thinking of streaming the replay with some commentary but I'll probably be bored of that idea tomorrow

Great job on getting the Scirocco up into the top 5 - those front-lefts must have been shot! A rather close battle between you and the Toyota, too.

Ugh that Red Bull Jr. BMB race is unnecessarily hard on controller. Turn 1 is such a fine line between making it and spinning, especially when there’s other cars around you, and if you slow down you get hit from behind.

My fuel strategy was perfect, just 2 pesky spins and 1.5 sec penalties both times left me 15th in the top split.

I’m a known oval lover but PD managed to find a combo that takes the fun out of it, so I won’t bother trying again.

Qualified 13th, at Blue Moon Bay, finished P6, 439pts, my best ever points. No stop, FM3 the whole way worked for me, laps all 48 and 49s. Never got a penalty and only a few SR downs. Good race, can't risk those points.

How do some of you manage to write such lengthy posts, describing every aspect of race? Voice-to-text app? Anyhow, impressed!

Got a 3rd place at N24 in a M6 and might try Manufacturers Series tonight.

Good luck to all!

Good move by the Toyota, he drove very patiently ;)

Qualified 12th on blue moon climbed to 5th but someone lost their car and took me out, luckily no penalty. Fell to 13th, I just put my head down and drove. A couple of people pitted, some others binned it. In the end I finished 7th
1372 points and the second best result this season

There's one more slot to go and I'm feeling a bit bummed out considering I practiced quite a bit for this one and both races were worth 2000 points for the winner. But, I don't wanna be greedy. I'll just take home what I got.
It's kind funny my best result so far was on mount panorama and I barely even practiced for that one.
