My Manu race was an interesting one. Wild, lucky finish!

Found myself in what I'm pretty sure was the top B/S lobby for the first time since my DR meltdown at the start of the official Nations season. Qualy was okay, got an 1:18.006. I could have gotten well into the 17's but I also could have done worse. My hot lap was really slowed down by a horrible exit on the last turn to start the lap. It got me a P7 start.

For the race I went with a hards to mediums strategy. Being in the VW I had a tough time doing meds both stints in practice. So I ran 7 laps on the hard then the last 5 on the mediums so I could get the most out of them with the lighter car.

I lost a position early, then, at the end of lap 3 I noticed a few guys ahead start dropping into the pits. So I imagined a lot of drivers were 2 stopping, my confidence went up a lot at that point since I knew I'd be 1 stopping, I didn't think there was anyway a 2 stop would work. First stint I had a good battle with a Mercedes, I defended well enough until either he made a mistake or his tires died. Got up to P2, but one of the 2 stoppers or possibly a 1 stopper fresh out of the pits started bearing down on me. Instead of fighting I let him pass before the last turn then I turned off into the pits.

2nd stint was fairly uneventful, I overtook 2 drivers on worn tires with my fresh mediums, then found myself in P5, 2.5 seconds behind a 3way battle for P2 and 2.5 seconds ahead of P6 for most of the stint.

The last lap got interesting though. My mediums were starting to fall off, and P6 was closing the gap a little. I was still 1.5 seconds up and 2 second behind on the straight heading to the final turn. I told myself, "K, you got P5, just bring it in, just don't fly off the last turn". Then the miracle happened. Going in the the last big right hander I saw a big cloud of dust. As I got closer I see two cars spiraling off into the desert. My eyes probably tripled in size, then I noticed the red penalty flag go up above the lone survivor of that 3-way battle for P2. I figured, "If he got a penalty for whatever happened there it going to be a big one, LET'S GOOO!" So I put the throttle through my pedal box and probably had my best exit out of the last turn all race. Sure enough he got a 5 second and I manage to steal P2!

Good enough for 1080 points, which for me is awesome. My goal is at least a 1000 points a race, 3000 championship points would be enough to be in the fight for top overall DR:B driver. It might be enough for P10 with VW but I think that ship has sailed.

I think there is some confusion here. I believe that this page is related to the transition from the 2019 Exhibition Series, not the current Pre-Season. In BR news section, they said on 25/04 this:

【Notice】
Please note that it will not be possible to change your manufacturer affiliation (Driver Contract) with a manufacturer from the preseason to the end of the main season in the Manufacturer series (Stage 2).

* Driver contracts established in the 2019 Exhibition series will be terminated upon appearance of the preseason event.

However the same page in the GB section didn't quote this, at least for me, so for now I consider that the manufacturer that you chose for the Pre-Season is locked to the end.

Manu, mid-A lobby: Qualified on pole with 1:17.1 in my NSX. Held off a congregation of Caymans and an SLS at the start. Once I pulled a gap, I controlled the race from the front and captured victory. 6M7M.

1622 points. Still top for Honda in NA.

Fear the NSX. Highly underrated. Once you figure out the balance, overall speed is good and the tire wear is not so bad

I signed with Honda as well but I haven’t gotten any races in yet. Any tips for getting the most out of the two NSX’s? I managed a 17.0 in the Willow practice laps but I missed the races last night unfortunately. I hear they are good on tires though, is that true?(compared to other cars)

Took 3rd in nations race after working with a Spaniard to break from the main group. Was looking like a good battle for the win when I realised starting lap 16 I only had 3 laps of fuel, major miscalculation on my part but had the gap to save enough a putter over the line for a podium.

Only entered 11pm manufacturers race. Got a solid banker in qualifying then fluffed my low fuel run, went for a 2nd lap as the 86 tyres could handle it and was up by 4 tenths when got blocked by a mustang.

Why can't folk not be aware of people on laps. You have the big map, a radar and the ability to look behind you!!!

Anyways qualified 13th and things were about to get worse as after a good start and making up a position I binned it at turn 3. Super annoying as I literally allowed myself to be scared of track. Total rookie error and tbh uncharacteristic of me, cost me 15 seconds by time I got going again!!!

Recovered to 12th from 20th with solid pace but another potential result down the drain. I'm having a tough season!!!

My latest Race in Nations Cup with the Red Bull.
I was excited for this as I made it from 19th to second in Supra Cup on this track and my fuel strategy worked quite good in training.
But this time again I had no luck in qualifying, didn't find one partner for bumpdraft-slipstreaming within the 10 min and so had to start from the last place. :ouch:
But as I knew starting position isn´t what counts over here so I placed all my bets on coming to the front as fast as possible and try to survive the No-Stopper even with full power on the first laps.
Far away from a perfect race as I made several small mistakes at the first corner but made the best out of this with 6th place an 1737 points.

Really lamenting picking Dodge for the Manu races. Thought they'd be quicker than the Vette I picked last season. Handling is nice, but the tire wear/speed is just bunk. Guess I'm stuck again lol!

So, for next nations race. Everyone seems to be going for the r92cp.
That car hits almost 370. Newer gr1 cars don't stand a chance. I tried the 962c and the Mazda, but they don't seem to cut it either, they don't hit the top speed and the handling didn't seem better really. I know there's a couple of days to go but still...

The mazda only gets better as the fuel burns off, slowly.

Just my 2c.

It's looking like a no stop race so fast and fuel efficient will be the order of the day. Cant see the r92cp cutting it fuel wise but iv not tested it on that front. Over 1 lap it is rapid though.

Uhh, why are there North and South Americans in the top 10?

What's going on here? Bug? Regions merged again? Maybe Top 16 merged?

What would really interest me: why pretty much no-one drives for Mitsubishi or Citroen?

Are they really that bad...?

Both Citroen cars are MR cars, which generally mean they are slightly trickier to drive. That combined with the unfashionable marque and the fact they are both fantasy cars means a lot of people will overlook them. They are actually both ok to drive, but nowhere near the best. You used to be able to really short shift them for fuel saving, but that was kinda fixed and fuel saving isn't as important as it used to be.

For Mitsubishi you just have to look at the Gr.4 car, it is 4wd. It is quite slow in a straight line, and while it is good on twisty tracks the tyre wear issues mean that it can't use that for long. If you want to see how tough it is for gr.4 4wd cars at the moment you just have to look at the scores from the Big Willow race the last day. The best 4wd score was 1700 odd points, and that was Lightning driving that. I got 1700 points in my Scirocco, and I would be about 1-2 secs per lap slower than him if the cars were equal.

Hopefully they will tweak the tyre wear a little before the real season starts as it really hurts gr.4 4wd cars and gr.3 MR cars.

I am driving for Citroen I will compare with Honda as I drove them last season

Gr. 4 has no real strengths or weaknesses maybe a bit harsh on front tires but that could be because i am using a ds4
Gr. 3 has good handling but is also hard on tires as well.

Fuel is good on both cars but the focus is on tire management this season which isn't a strength and top speed is not a great strength

Is anybody actually considering using a Group C car in the Nations race tomorrow? I ran a 787B and a 908 and the laptimes look fairly similar, but the 908's tyres last much longer and uses less fuel. Surely a more stable car (still with a top speed of ~213mph) will be better in a race rather than practice?

Im running the Mazda vision gt. People have been trying no stoppers but I was able to catch them even with a stop. I guess we'll see with heavy traffic, quali, etc.
I play with automatic transmission so short shifting to save fuel is out of the question.

I'm just going to plod along in the 787B tonight. Also, signed with Mazda again. Gr.3 Atenza has been surprising me at Monza. I'll just have to put up with the Gr.4 car whenever.

LM55 will have dead Mediums up front at the end of the race with the Pad. Saw an Alpine of @yukiku doing a no-stop with what I assume to be Hards up front and Mediums on the rear...or full Hards.

Probably gonna use the LM55, as I was able to get so close to the Top 10 Stars at the moment.

I'm sorry again, @MrWaflz55...

So I was just on @Tidgney's stream and it turns out that they've added 500 base points to the Top 16 Superstars! This is a start for sure, we know they're listening

I talked about it with @OutlawQuadrnt in a stream just now and he guessed it might have something to do with the mass DC that happened during warm-up in the last NA top split lobby at Willow.

Maybe. Im wondering if we're going to be racing each other tomorrow, the region's I mean. Part of me misses racing them in FIA, the more the merrier.
