No penalties for me. Can cut up to the inside wall. Going off at T3 exit grass doesn't seem to generate a penalty. Neither does side to side contact at the exit of the infield.

Alt account. Pole('16 GT-R) did a 1:01.9. I did a 102.102. Started on RH, let P2(RC F) go by after a couple laps. P3('16 NSX) was having a hard time keeping it together after I made it easy for it to pass. Pole got booted. I closed in P2 and it pit Lap 10. Close in on P1 and it pit Lap 13. I ran to end of lap 17, as P2(NSX) was catching me(my lead dropped from 7 seconds to 4.9 over 3 laps), but NSX was struggling again. After pit stop, I ran consistent 2. 2-2.4 second laps with a 1:02.004 as fastest.

Earlier, felt like dirty air was effecting me each time I followed the NSX into T2. Oh and I also added 3 extra laps of fuel(had 9.8 laps left at pit stop).

I have to look at the replay and see how this gap happened. Might be due to players splitting the race in half, rather than running long and pitting for fresh tyres for the end,

Edit: @praiano63 I found was was quicker towards the end of the race on the RM tyres(only had them on for the last 10 laps). I was setting purple 1st sectors and at the last sector, I was down something like .3 seconds. Thought I'd lower my FL, but was losing crazy time at both hairpins.

Qualified 5th. Started on RH, but I guess even letting people pass, did me in with 1.5 second penalty for moving too much to the right .
Pitted for RMs with 8 laps to go. held up by cars on less fresher tyres and then a late stopping WRX, was trying to hurry me up and a train of cars in front of me.

Can I assume the 08 GT-R is just good over a single lap, and useless in the race? It currently has a few spots in the EMEA top ten.

PSA: 20-second penalty in Nations if you don't use mandatory (Hard) tyres.

Not sure if it will be the same in Manufacturers but that is almost a better option.

If you check race details, you will see the hard tyre logo in "tyre requirement", the same in manufactures series, so i assume that you can use only hard tyres if you want, but not only the medium one.

It seems I should listen to Super GT's maths lessons more often. Just went for a H5/M6/M6 strategy. In a 19 lap race. I actually went one lap longer on the hards for the sake of the final stint, so I had to fuel save.

Still, spare a thought for the poor mugs who didn't know about the tyre thing. The guy who ended up in 3rd was 20.250 seconds behind the leader, so just let that sink in. I was 12th, ended up 11th, but I would have been 11th anyway if I hadn't mucked up my strategy. Probably could have caught 10th.

Nooo i misclicked the tyre and changed on mediums at 2nd pit!! So was forced to pit again for hards at 18th lap. Luckily THIS happened

Only Alfa driver and was happy of my performance though. Barely made any mistakes and kept a good pace. Problem is that the car just was struggling on the power sectors yet i was catching up in mid so it was an awkward fight for me.

I managed a fastest lap time, but couldn't pass the GT-R, even though I had much fresher tyres when I caught it. Even when it slides about during a bend and I was closing in on it after the exit, it just pulled away from me on the straight, and it took so long for the slipstream to start to outweigh the acceleration that I was never in overtaking range by the next corner. A bit frustrating, I think the top two both did a 1 stop, whereas I did a 2 stop. I know I can do 30:00ish with an empty track, but I'd have to qualify on pole and stay ahead of everyone to be able to do that in a race. Not sure whether to go again or not, as I've got the 1500 free DR from moving to A rating with that result. On the one hand, the top 2 may well not go again, but on the other hand, someone who finished ahead of me got a 20 second penalty and they probably won't do that next time.....

I am in mix of laughter and sadness either way.

I really could have gone to 2nd place or 3rd place at least but hey i am happy. No penalties and no punting happening!

First FIA race with 1000+ points in the manufacturers tonight with a P6 for Aston Martin, was helped by people not using the hards and being bumped up a few spots but I'll take it.

Do I need to use both set of tires in the Manufacturer's race tonight? I hear you need to do that for the Nations Cup.

Yes. Look at the race details and you'll notice in the bottom right hand corner, tyre requirement highlighted in green.

Yes, I can see that and it says only "Hard". More over, it doesn't have a description flying at the bottom like any other field hence the question.
Thanks for a quick answer.

Wonderfull race tonight with a good battle with @Lost Sheltie . Good pace , no mistakes , lot of fun.

I was in this race, not far behind the pair of you at the start. Qualified well, started well. P4 makes a mistake and hello cruel GTSport reality.

The out of control car has a bad rejoin, doesn't ghost, and pushes me into an apparent invisible wall that gives me engine damage
Recovered to 11th thanks in most to out of control cars and a few not knowing about the tyre rule, which seems to be a running theme this evening.

Congrats to you and @Lost Sheltie Looks like you both ran an error free race. :)

I doubt anyone is only running hard tyres but is the rule in manufacturers that you have to run hards at some point rather than have to use both hard and medium? So if you stay on hard tyres you don't break the rules (not that I'm gonna try it!)

Thanks. To tell the true , i did a very bad qualif at interlagos , and a goid lap for pole at bmb with 0.084 only in front of @Lost Sheltie .
After this i've just follow the same strategy as Nik i saw this morning , and i wss lucky to be be able to print a good pace with no mistakes this time. Great races , thanks to all really , everybody stay fair and clean. It was a real pleasure.

In fairness the tyre thing isn't really explained in the race menu itself. It might say "mandatory tyre" but it doesn't mention penalties, doesn't mention that you can (technically) no-stop on the hard, it just seems a bit vague. If I didn't post on here and race in the FIAs every round I probably wouldn't have noticed.

Correct - you must use hards some of the time, you have the option of also using mediums some of the time.

6th & a 4th for the Manufacturer Series :-) one more to go, hopefully I can qualify quicker nearer my 1.33 or 1:32 opt,
I keep getting stuck in traffic so i’m 3 seconds off.

Nations I’m terrible and lucky
not to be last, can’t be bothered doing the last race.

Qualified 17th in that room. Clearly I don't have what it takes...

And everyone except for me and one other guy are all using the '08 GT-R.

I'm guessing this is why half the racers in the nations and manufacturers races I did got 20s penalties at the end of the race.

Qualify on the softest compound then come in for a pit stop after you set your best lap and switch to the hardest, then it’ll automatically start your race off on the hardest, then switch to the softer ones once their cooked, I normally do 12 laps hard, 7 laps softer and gain time in the slip streams cos i’m on the quicker tyre towards the end.

Finished 13th.

If I'm going to keep getting put into the top split rooms and fighting for the low teens, not even going to bother continuing with this stuff. I'm probably an A rank at best, not an A+ or S....

I’m in mixed emotions by this one. My first real (practiced for) attempt at a manufacturers race. I started 3rd and made my way into 1st by the start of lap 2. I opted for the 2 start after starting on mediums for 7 laps then on to hards. I got held up by an NSX and Aston who just kept blocking me off but I eventually got free and managed to continue a good pace until lap 13. Pitted back on to mediums and went for it. My tyres were toast and I closed the 4s gap to first. I got the inside line on him in the final corner but he just had too much power because we all know Porsche’s are slow on the straights! Oh and I got fastest. Lap!
