FIA was an utter disaster with the nations going terribly and no fast lap in manufacturers with that race going about as well with nothing but understeer all race

Finally no more lost of time showing cars before the fia race .
This was also impossible to skip this when checking replays... Good thing.

EDIT: I was looking at japanese training rooms on Fuji thinking we were on wednesday now , 100% sure to race today :lol::lol::lol:
A few minutes ago i've seen that we race in 1 day and we are still on tuesday.:lol::lol::lol:

So i think we will have the same concurents 20 car's show. :cheers::banghead::banghead:

i find the scrolling and more cinematic opening to the FIA events to be a great addition. it gives a more human/ event type feel to the races. because they are more of an event then a normal race...why must we rush through everything?? just enjoy it !
 
So after taking a short break from FIA races, I have decided to do an experiment for this Manufacturers exhibition season. The experiment: to see how well I can get on with a lesser-used brand in a part-time campaign. The brand in question: Dodge, a stalwart of modern GT racing that sadly didn't get much love last season. Whether it was down to outright competitiveness or preferences towards the season's meta, the Vipers never stood much of a chance in the overall rankings. But the question is: did Dodge really deserve to finish dead last in Manufacturers?

Evidence from the 19:20 Fuji Gr.4 race, also starring @watto79, suggests not.

Other than the periodic traffic jams, qualifying went without incident, as it often seems to be the case whenever I'm in an FIA lobby. A solid second lap of 1:41.267 was enough to put the Viper 9th on the grid, despite having to contend with following and catching two Mercedes SLSs up front. For reference, the pole-sitting Nissan GT-R was just over seven and a half tenths up. Not bad for supposedly one of the least popular Gr.4 machines in recent memory.

For the race, I opted to go for a three-stop strategy, taking softs, mediums and softs again for each stint. In practice, I managed to put down a sub-29:39 race time with minimal disruption, helped by an emphasis on short-shifting and fuel map adjustments on the fly. Coming into the first corner, the pole-sitter misses his braking point entirely and careers into the gravel; this, along with an off for the solitary Mazda and a 3-second penalty for the black and red Ferrari up front (following a nudge from the Mazda, of course), meant that I was already guaranteed to go up into 6th by the end of Lap 1. With fuel and tyre conservation my main priority, I hung back as a train of cars formed a battle for 2nd, then the overall lead. That being said, the Gr.4 Viper has excellent stability and traction through corners, which, combined with gentle braking and V10 grunt, meant that I was reeling the train in and putting myself in with an outside chance of snatching a podium.

While in hindsight I felt that I could have made the softs last longer to keep in range of the leading pack, the first stop came and went on Lap 5, where I took on just enough extra fuel to get me to the end. Getting through the mid-field proved slightly trickier on the less grippier mediums, but we climb back up as the first pitstop cycles take place, at which point a dark matte grey and blue GT-R has a much stronger run on me through 100R. The black and red Ferrari from earlier tries to pounce on me at the Panasonic turn, but a strong run on the outside allows me to maintain my position as we find ourselves back up to 9th place. The Ferrari fights back on Lap 8, and tries to grab what would become 5th as a few others, including watto79, make their stops. By Lap 12, I find myself back in 6th, and end up lightly tapping the GT-R in front as I try to go on his inside at the first hairpin (sorry mate). Backing off immediately, I abort the pass and keep my distance until we pit together at the end of the lap. During the second stop, I thought about making a splash-and-dash in the hope of getting some extra pace out of the Viper, but decided against it at the last moment.

Coming back out, I slot in neatly between the 9th and 11th-placed Mercs through the first corner, though it takes a while for me to get clear of both. From there, it was a case of catching up with the group fighting for 5th place, a job made easier by their squabbling and a critical error by the colourshift Mercedes at Dunlop. At that point, said Merc had picked up a 5.5-second penalty for a track limits infringement and punting off the orange Aston at Coca Cola curve. On softs, I rapidly gained ground on the trio, eventually getting a tidy run on watto79 on Lap 16 and benefiting from the orange Aston losing control at turn 2. Once watto ran wide at 100R a few moments later, 6th was mine for the taking. A straight run to the flag and a score of 1,484 points soon followed (if only they'd stop subtracting one point from the results screen tally!).

Nations went ok. Chose the F50 because I figured why not, and it did ok. I was a bit of a rolling road block but managed to hold on to 7th for some half decent points. Was a tough race because I spent the whole race defending but was fun for a N race.

Manufacturers went really well, I am not sure why nobody drove Citroen for the main season as it seems pretty strong. Qualified 7th when my final lap was blocked a little, but I felt the Citroen would be able to 1 stop, so that is what I did. Started on softs and did my normal safe 1st lap and picked up a place when someone got a penalty. Then picked up another spot on the next lap and saved fuel behind a fellow Citroen driver for a few laps until he started to lose pace. Picked him off and kept going until lap8 when I pitted for mediums. Came out just ahead of someone, so that saved me more time, and then pulled away.

Guy on pole was 2 stopping so he caught me on lap 15 and I thought his tyres would be better so I just let him buy, but he made a mistake going onto the straight and I got very close. I didn't mean to pass him into the 1st corner but I braked slightly too late, so I dive-bombed him. I managed to hold him off for a while further but he got me on the last lap and I couldn't get the back past, and he deserved the win anyway, but I was very happy with the result.

 
Don’t know why I bothered tonight! Missed first two races so signed up for Aston for tonight. Qualified last a full second behind 19th. Finished 17th for a massive 169 points!

To make things worse, caught up with a pack of 5 cars in front with 2 laps to go and on fresher tires only to be punted off. Just as I was rejoining the track the game decided it would be better to reset me and put me further back up the track! :confused::mad:
 
After a couple of poor showings at RBR and Interlagos, the Gr.4 car delivered at Fuji! I managed a 1:40.4 to put it on the second row in qualifying in a second split lobby and ran a good, consistent race with the 2 stop to bring it home in 5th for 1867 points. :D

Just did my first of the “new & improved” FIA races...all they did was make them as long as they were in 2017/early 2018 when they first started doing test seasons. The entire event was over in just over 40-45 minutes, and that’s how it went now. Changing the time slots seems like a massive overreaction.

Love the change, but don’t like the new times since doing Manufacturers is a huge pain now
 
Another 8th, but only twenty odd points kinda pointless running extra races if it’s just gonna wipe out your previous points haul, it should take the best result of the 3 or average.
 
Well only had time to do 1 manufactuers race before work and well i shouldn't have bothered!!!

Started normally enough....terrible qualifying. 1.41.2 for 16th on grid, at least 4 tenths off what I should have been doing(messed up turn 4)

Started on mediums. Got bumped out way at turn 1 by Spaniard in Subaru and dropped to last(19th)then to compound it cut turn 2 for 1 sec penalty....a fine start lol

Now to be fair to myself I drove the next 12 laps very well, pitted for softs on lap 5 and a second set of softs on lap 11 to the extent I emerged from 2nd stop in 11th place with potential to move forward as next 4 cars were well in sight.

Anyways wheels came off the bus rather spectacularly. Stupidly i cut the fast right hander at start of 3rd sector on my outlap as i misjudged the grip on new tyres.....as I served the 1 second pen I fell into the clutches of a clown in a jaguar at turn 1 that I had seem make several questionable moves in first phase of race.

We door banged several times before I prevailed in our fight with no real harm done to either of us but mr Spaniard in the jag wasnt done and just deliberately speared me at the last turn spinning me round.

Tbh I wasnt to bothered we were fighting for 13th and in reality it was my stupid error that put me on same bit of track as the jag so il take it on the chin.

In order to gain some consolation I pitted on lap 16 for fresh softs and set the fastest lap of the race on the last tour a full 1.1 seconds faster than my qualifying!!!

One to forget, my first ever 0 score and first ever last place finish. Had to happen some time I suppose.

In the 3 races i did today , there was F50 , Supra , KTM and M4 in front of it all the time.

First proper FIA race for the off-season. Went mandatory Mediums to Softs then Softs again on Lap 7 and 13 respectively.

Meanwhile you have the guy in first doing a one-stopper with the Cayman... I also had to deal with everyone and their mother trying to be an obstruction every opportunity they got. Especially 11th place in the Benz.

I would have done so much better in this race if I didn't bin it first corner, first lap.
 
I cannot believe what just happened. Managed to sneak into 3rd position in qualifying on what felt like a slow, mistake filled lap to me. Hung out in 3rd for a few laps, then fell to 4th. The Porsche that passed me bumped P2 and sent him off, who then came back on and bumped the Porsche before the next corner. Gladly took 2nd on that move and spent the rest of the race battling it out with @SpecMiata-JSW for the win. Crossed under the white flag leading the race flashing 1.2 laps remaining in fuel, then something happened to SpecMiata as I looked up and saw it saying he was 2.5 seconds back and falling. I flipped to fuel map 3 just to make sure I made it and took the checkered with 0.4 laps remaining. My first FIA win. :cheers:

One and done for me tonight. :dopey:

Edit: oh, one stop with mediums for both stints. 👍

I only have time to do one of these races on Wednesdays, so I went with Manufacturers. My pit strategy was 6S+5S+6M. Things went well for the most part, but on the last lap, I got punted by a Porsche, but fortunately it didn't ruin my race. (Looking back at the replay, I couldn't tell if it was an accident or not) I finished the race in 3rd but thanks to 2nd not using Mediums, I took 2nd place instead. :)

That was a great race! I enjoyed every minute of it, except almost dying on last lap. LOL!

Also, congrats, that was a well deserved victory!

Had pretty good luck in the sf-r cup...
In an F50!!
Ended Q with P5 by only 0.136
Then in the race by about the 4th lap I had gotten past everyone and closed in on P1 and a couple laps later, passed him as well. Held on and took the win!
I had 98 sr to start so the room was 80% A's with a few B's
 
Nations was a very fun combo for me. I absolute love the Xbow, anytime I have a chance I'll use it. Decent pole lap with a bit of draft and a very intense fight for the race win.




For manu my qualy lap was ok. The penalty on lap 2 killed my chances, still got pretty close in the end.

 
Nations - Lago Maggiore East - New Supra

Started and finished 3rd. I was fighting it out with 2nd and 1st, and we had some incredible racing. Definitely some of the best racing I had this year. Took home 2000 points.

It was great racing with the Supra; my old friend. :cheers:

I did the same it was great to see the S-FRs on my bumper in the corners then just drive away in a straight line.
 
Attempted the first Manufacturers slot (with @VulcanSpirit ). Would like to note that this race had no less than NINE Mercedes drivers in it. Seems like with their World Tour successes Merc are becoming the manufacturer of choice. Qualified 11th and proceeded to make a complete hash of the first lap. Missed every apex, nearly spun once and became a moving roadblock. Dropped to near last but got myself together and finished 9th. I really felt that the one stop stragegy of 8S / 9M was quicker than what most others were doing.

Gave it another go at 10pm. Improved qualifying to 5th, but was shoved off the track at the T1 exit. This messed me up for the next turn where I nearly spin off AGAIN. Sort myself out, stick to the strategy and recovered to 7th. Both races were missed opportunities considering how I was making the strategy work, but clearly I need to work on my lap 1 consistency. Messing up early on in a race is becoming a too common theme.

The Merc that shoved me off at T1 went on to have one of the dirtiest races I've ever seen. I might upload a highlight reel later but what they did to me they did to at least 3 other cars. Then after serving a 6 second penalty they attempted to ram everyone who was passing them. This was a SR99 lobby and they were demoted to SR B by the end......

Next race is at N24 so I'll give that a miss and maybe give the Nations Gr.1 at DT Seaside a go instead 👍

The image tells me that You do not manage your tires enough or even at all. What was the Brake Balance setting on this?

Same here. I always use the KTM X-Bow when I have a chance. Although I adore Ferrari F50 as well - maybe next time!

Qualified 16th in the SF-R Cup. While driving a X-Bow.

Finished 11th which I'm very happy with. Highlight was being punted off at turn one on lap 16 by a Hungarian I'd been fighting on and off with all race. I caught up to him on the last lap and got a really good run on him coming out of the esses. He went tight to the inside, and I'm pretty sure I braked later than I had been doing even to compensate for the tyres going off. I'm not sure, because my view of the 100 board was skewed. When I saw him brake later than I did though, I knew the position was mine. He was into the wall, I had 11th.

My fastest lap ended up only being .5 off the leader, I think loads of practice could have got me something there. Still, it was weird driving a race where the X-Bow is stronger on straight than it is in corners.

Welcome to my world. I am only C in DR so I race with not very clean guys. I qualified 15th or 16th with the X-Bow and had some nice fights with the SF-Rs - managed to get into P8 or P7 until 5 laps till the end first some Hungarian decided to force his way thru, then a Greek, on top of that some dude from Norway was on my ass almost all the race - it would be even fun if he didn't hit me like 20 times. Eventually the game decided to take down my SR to A and give me a 6 second penalty for being bumped around like a baseball. I lost it and I've put the Norwegian guy into the wall just before the finish line - ending up 15 or 16.
What a shame I don't have a reply of that race. Was quite fun before bunch of SF-Rs decided to force their way when they couldn't pass me cleanly.

Since I got only 76 points for that I tried the race again but again quali was poor (15th), the guy in the Supra behind me decided to ramm me off on 1st lap, I lost 4-5 sec to the car in front - couldn't rally catch up. I had a nice race with one Spaniard who also got rammed and he went from 4th to 14th. Which was a surprise since all the Spanish drivers (and 80% of Italians) I meet are quite dirty drivers.

Manufacturers was quite good since after my 1st quali lap i was 2nd, surprisingly I've managed to hit a Pole Postilion on my 2nd flying lap.
Didn't really expect that, as well as being rammed in turn #1 by the Italian guy in Sirocco. Went into 2nd, since I was quite pissed off - I've made a few mistakes on lap #1 - ended up fighting for 4th position. Due to tire strategy and fuel saving (started on Soft (8laps) then went for Mediums (11 laps) with Citroen) I've managed to finish 2nd. Couldn't catch-up to the Sirocco since I wanted to make a fast pit-stop and under-fueled a bit. Had to save fuel in the end + he started on Mediums and ended up on Softs. There was no chance to catch him. Oh well... 2nd is also good for me. I've decided to skip the 2nd race not to risk points which forced skipping the 3rd Nations round.
