Not having to fuel save with the Toyota is awesome, up 6 spots in the race and could have been even more.

This is what I wanted to hear.

I was planning on using the Toyota when I managed to get a low 21 with it and also not have to fuel save one bit.

Ill sacrifice the pure pace of the audi for the familiar feel of a car I enjoy driving and also the lack of fuel saving.

Only thing that concerns me is tyre strategy with the controller...

I cant decide whether a 1 stop or 2 stop would be best, all soft tyres of course just because of the wear I need to see if doing a 2 stop at laps 7 and 13 would be better overall ot just a waste.

yea let me know, I don't have nations until 11pm tonight.

The Toyota TS050 done the race easily without getting fuel. Drove it quite hard but not revving it right out every lap. Nice car to drive good hybrid

Yea that car is great, I got something like 15K DR just from that car at Sarthe last week.

I'm definitely going with it tonight, let the audis do their thing and see what I get

Took the TS050. Qualified 4th finished 6th..yep the chicane of death ended my chances of a podium. Easy 1 stop for tyres..roll on the next race

After 1 race with the Dodge tomahawk , i think it's a very good car for the competition , not for the win but yes for another strategy and top places for sure.
I was in the middle of 16 Audi , 1st lap after a confusion in front of me i went off track and fall to last.
After a good come back in 1 stop no refuel racing soft , i've finished 8th almost 7th , with still 1 lap of gas
The problem is to perform well during qualif , with some luck you can do between 5th and 10th. The car is around 0.500 slower in flying lap . Very fun drive and very safe too. Laping 1:23.5 1:24.2 all the race.

Just for the heck of it I just did a non-stopper in Audi with softs... front left died at lap 17..

I did a one stop on the sorts just fine, stopped lap 9. You can really tell with the fuel saving out of the corners aswell.

7th to 5th in Manufacturers... would probably have got pole if I'd kept it on the track in qualifying (well, higher) and pretty much survived for the race. Went 2 laps on hard 1 on medium. Had no idea how much fuel I'd need for the last one but it wasn't enough, frantically started fuel saving with about a third of the lap to go but 6th in a Mitsubishi wasn't really consistent enough to pass. 903 points. Fantastic performance.

Mediocre race in the 911 RSR. Ran out of fuel in qually not paying attention. Started 12th which was good considering! Fuel mix 2 the whole race with short shifting starting on mediums. I get blocked by an Aston Martin driver every time he slowed down (dropped a wheel etc) so I couldn’t squeeze past on the nordschleife but I trusted that my consistency and pressure would force him off considering he was watching me and not the track, and it paid off. Manage 2 laps and up to 3rd on the pit stop. Attacking for 2nd while gaining around 0.5 on the leader every 3/4 corners. I take second heading into the carussel then as we hit the left handed climbing the hill before the left and double right, I get pushed off. 2nd receives a 3s penalty but unfortunately i lost too much time to catch that up and he hung on to 3rd leaving me with 4th. Absolutely furious to be honest. I was smashing down on the leader and I was in my own bubble pushing the limits.

Oh well!

5th from 12th in the Manufacturer Series (Race1), had enough pace to win it but came off a few times.
Went and set my fastest qualifying lap on the out lap, 15 seconds better than pole and burnt up my tyres like an idiot and didn’t have enough fuel left :banghead:
I forgot it’s a fuel save / slow out lap.
Here’s hoping it’ll be the same in the next two, I go for the win.

Looking forward to Nürburgring this evening.
I did a compilation of some passing moves from Fuji Saturday.
The last turn was a great place for passing when taking a tight inside line.

11th to 4th in Nations. I 2-stopped, was swapping around with a Danish guy who 1-stopped and finished 2.9 seconds ahead of me. I got held up after my second stop - the top two were gone but one came out of the pits just ahead of me, and I slowed down to avoid passing and having to let him past a few corners later. That probably did it.

Still, always nice when you survive a race like this and just see bodies everywhere else.

Ed - I was also in a DHR livery R18, so obviously I technically won.

This Manufacturer :idea:race on the Nurb 24H 3 laps is insane. I think i will do all the slots i can. Just for the fun.

First attempt at Nations qualified 10th 6 tenths off pole. Cold tyres and dirty air REALLY caught me out. Spun myself out on 2nd lap. Finished 13th doing a 1 stop. Will have another go at 23:20 as I can do better and now have a better understanding of the dirty air challenge :)

Also, 18 of the 20 were using the R18. Myself included.

I forgot to ask before the race - how do you manage boost in the hybrid cars? I can't manage it at all at Dragon Trail.

FIA went amazing for me today!
Nations was interesting. Qualified 1st, 2nd place was .216 of a second behind me, so I went for one last lap on the soft tyres just in case. Was a good move, I improved by almost a second due to driving my heart out, and he improved half a second, guaranteeing my pole position.

The race went fine, 2nd and 3rd died at the third corner due to wheelspin and allowed me to gain a 1 second lead on what was originally 5th place. He couldn´t keep up and was holding up the guys behind him. I gained 14 seconds from that and mantained them through the race, almost dying twice at the bus stop chicane. R18 doesn´t need to short-shift, because you technically should be doing that anyway! It´s power band is around 3500-4500 RPM, so it saves enough fuel. The TS050s in my race weren´t a threat, and tyres were good. Started on RS, pitted at the end of lap 8, went with the RM to the end. For France!

Next up was Manufacturers. Qualified 1st with no issues in terms of pace, since everyone was picking the RM tyres and having them die out by the time they completed the out lap . Scary situation with a spaniard in a BMW M6 who was skidding all over the place and almost made me spin out, and he spun out a few corners later and ragequitted, lol.

The race was more interesting than qualifying. 2nd place was in a Supra, and I already sensed trouble from that. The RCZ Gr.3 stands no chance against it in a straight, but he started on RM tyres, while I was in RH. My strategy was to fuel save enough to get me to do 2 laps, then pit, put on RM tyres and enough fuel to sprint full-speed to the end. It was a good call. The Supra kept pressuring me, but I stuck by the strategy. On the last corners, I had pulled enough of a gap due to my more calmer and consistent driving, not killing the tyres, enough to not allow him to catch up and pass me on the final straight, and from there, the race was done. He pitted, alongside half the field, and I drove consistently quickly.

And now, to lie back and relax! Good luck to those who haven´t participated yet!

The thing is, the points you're scoring are just much too low for your ability. When you win both races, you gain about 3k DR, so you're just going to keep scoring higher each round, and these early scores won't be included in your final total. I know this because I did the same thing last season, I started at around 15k, and by the end of the season I was at 37k. The only scores that ended up being included in my best 10 were those from around 27k upwards.

I guess I´ll be doing some more Dailies in this free time. But honestly, I don´t care too much about the points or whatever, I know I´m going to score higher than that at some point. I just enjoy the game, racing in lobbies / FIA / Dailies :dopey:

Great race today for my 2d session. The CITROEN is flying , bad qualification , start in 6th , 2 laps medium / 1pit / 1 lap medium and a polemic overtake final of the last straight , almost the same as Nik and Adam is the new york final if i remember well.
I was Suswilo inthis case but i was 3/4 of my car ahead the other . I'll post a video later . Epic.

Manufacturer Series (Race 2)
Qualified 3rd, ended up 4th.
Strange race of multiple mistakes,
one point I got up to 2nd on the long straight :D fellow Brit won who qualified 2nd.

Manufacturer Series (Race 3)
7th

Of course I do the first Nations, and get matched with all the best dudes... at least 3 turismo guys, 2 TTG, and a bunch of other elite wheel users.

Every single person in the R18 except me , decentish race I guess, I got crashed in the first corner by a guy that outbraked himself, but other than that I recovered to 14th by 2 stopping on all softs and picking off guys later on when they were struggling on tyres.

Hope I get matched with the next group down instead so I can get more than 800 pts

Finished third with the wrong strategy for manufacturers. No guarantee I would've finished higher with the right one, so fairly happy with it.

Week 2 - Fuji (Short) & Nurburgring Endurance

Another solid week of racing from all involved. I'm not sure if perhaps the penalty system changes and player reporting has begun to take effect, but there seems to be a much higher level of sportsmanship and skill on display this season. This was immediately evident at both Fuji and Nurburgring, home to two of the most notorious first corners in the game, where ramming drivers off the track has become a sport in itself for a select few intent on ruining the game. But not this week, perhaps it's a result of the need to properly strategise fuel and tire use, and when to pit in, everyone seems to head into turn 1 with just a bit more caution this season, at least in the Manufacturers Cup. Fuji was largely uneventful - I ran a fuel limiter of 2 or 3 to drag out the need to pit, and ran the softer tire as I knew I'd run out of fuel in the Aston before the tires needed changing. The only real consideration was just how fast to approach the Dunlop Corner, and where to brake to ensure the car cut left over the apex, instead of right and off the circuit. I finished somewhere around 7th for 258 points.

I was eagerly awaiting the Nurburgring Round, thankfully they haven't got around to making this a wet track just yet. The 'Ring is up there with my favourite circuits, and the fact that so many other drivers seem to dread the Green Hell made me confident of a good result, perhaps too confident. I ended up with pole position, having nursed the Vantage GT3 around on medium tires in preparation of a flying lap on a second attempt. Other drivers seemed intent on breaking the 'Ring lap record for a non-street legal vehicle, neglecting to factor in fuel consumption, and that a proper fast lap would require a good run up onto the home straight, not a standing start from the pits.

As the race started everything ran like clockwork, until I misjudged Bergwerk and pinged off the left barrier onto the opposite side of the track, losing 3 places. I also turned in on Mutkurve too early, bouncing over the kerb and losing another place whilst I straightened back out, narrowly avoiding the barriers. And if that wasn't enough, I came off in the sand near Brunnchen, beginning to wonder how I'd manage another two laps with this many mistakes. However the tide began to turn towards the end of lap one - the Mitsubishi ahead of me had to serve a penalty, and several drivers pitted on the first lap - I went from 6th to 4th on the home straight. Lap 2 was much cleaner, perhaps as I cut the fuel down further which reigned in the Vantage's power to a more manageable level, and I held 5th place in and out of the pits into Lap 3. However just as I was starting to feel confident I could make a podium finish, the Lexus behind me began to put the pressure on at Schwedenkreuz, and in my attempt to keep ahead I wasn't paying attention to where I was going. I carried too much speed into Aremberg, colliding with the 4th placed Porsche ahead of me, sending both of us into the sand. I managed to recover quickly, but the Porsche had done a full 360 into the middle of the trap, and fell from 4th to 9th. I was back in 7th and feeling guilty I'd just ruined someone's race on the final lap (in my defence I do in fact need new glasses). I managed to claw back some positions as other cars began to crash out in the final minutes of the race, with a Supra spinning out at Eiskurve, and the AMG which bolted past me earlier on Kottenborn crashing out twice at Hohenrain. I collided with them on the second spin; hemmed in by crash barriers on both sides there was nowhere I could go, and they were already 90 degrees off the line. I crossed the line in 5th place for 503 points, the most I've scored in a single race in any season. It should have been a cause for celebration, but I was still feeling guilty from the crash at Aremberg, and disappointed at the number of positions lost to careless mistakes. I'm sure things could have ended up a lot worse, but I can't help feeling things could also have been a lot better.

Yes. 3rd place in Nations second slot. Started 4th and took it nice and easy, one mistake from the guy behind gave me very needed breathing room. A mistake from the guy in 2ND and I managed to overtake him. He refueled and I didn't so that meant a 3.5 sec gap for me. The guys ahead were too fast and I didn't want to throw 2k points away so I just managed the race till the end. Super happy, never got 2k points before.

Just wanted to reply to say I really enjoyed reading this. The added action shots really were icing on the cake.
