Anyone else having connection issues with the Manufacturer Race tonight? Have been disconnected twice so far when searching for competitors at the very start - never had an issue before. Fingers crossed third time lucky.

Extremely happy with this one. Watching the replay right now.

1RH/8RM/5RS Tyres held together consistently. I think the tyre warmth is more effective/non-effective(?)... maybe I can say, an equaliser. Never noticed how much of a difference it makes.
I was catching the Vantage after it pit for a last lap switch to RH. A fair many cars pitted to throw those on. I passed for 8th, as it was in the pit exit lane.

Overall, one slight drama coming around to start the back straight. Got a bit of grass and lost time. Allowed P2 to catch up(the SLS was on cold tyres), though I was managing a 1.5 gap(we were just out of the top ten mid-race). Also, a "whatever" 1 second, at the final chicane exit kerb. I was catching cars ahead and going to pit for Softs anyway.

More like this, please.

That makes me feel good prepping for low B lobby having run 31:25 in practice races with mistakes. Top split probably 30:30.

I was doing 9 softs, 4 med, 1 hard with the Cayman. BB 0 all throughout.

That makes me feel a bit more optimistic about my potential in the Gr.4 Mustang; did a test lobby in 30:46.865 with that yesterday.

At the moment, though, I'm not too sure about which manufacturer I'm going for. Citroen was my top pick at first, but had a lot of errors with the Gr.4 version which also lacks straight-line speed for Suzuka and later combos. Jury's out on the Gr.3 cars until I can get a couple of runs in for RBR. Probably won't be able to make a decision until then or when the RX-Vision shows up.

On the other hand, I feel much more comfortable now with the shifter kart on controller sensitivity -2...

I qualified and started in RH. So, I was in 18/19 on the grid. 2.9 seconds slower than Pole. My FL(2:08.XXX) could have been my potential qualifying lap. Placing me in the top five.

Just wanted to feel this first race. No pressure for myself this season.

Well if this is how it’s going to be this season I don’t think I’ll bother.

Qualified 9th, was up to 7th by end of lap 1 but then stupidly put 2 wheels on the curb on the esses and spun off spectacularly. Rejoined in 15th already wondering what the point of continuing was! Carried on anyway, not much happened the rest of the race until half way through the second to last lap. I was in 10th and the guy behind picked up a 1 second penalty for track limits and decided to take his anger out on me by purposely punting me off as hard as he could on the next corner. Got back on in 14th and then on the last lap got purposely pushed off again by someone I was passing. Had full damage and didn’t even cross the finish line before the timer ran out. Finished 17th.

Obvious that a two stopper in Manu today will generally be the way to go but if you can drop yourself into clean air a double stint on softs with a relatively early first stop can really throw the cat amongst the pigeons. Almost made it work just (spun!) by pitting on L5 in a lobby. Don't think the other guy (who is a very consistent 65k rated driver) was quite sure what was happening when I had a) jumped him with the undercut and b) got myself a 15s gap before I binned it on L11! He had made both his stops but without the spin it would have been mighty close at the end. I'll be keeping a close eye on the field behind me after L3 later!

Slightly O/T, why oh why oh why are they still not displaying the split to more than just the car immediately behind you??! It would be SO useful when making strategy decisions mid-race

I did the following, still got disconnected from Nations slot 3:
- Turned off WiFi
- Reset Modem
- Set Static IP for Console
- Set IP in DMZ

Other people in region also got disconnected so I really think there are problems with the GT servers, if they are that sensitive to network settings.

FP at DTG. Lovin' it. Supra feels so good. Set a 1:37.825 after 8 laps. BUT, then, I jump in the Mustang and go .2 quicker in 2 laps.

I'm thinking a power circuit for the two uphill straights. Will be interesting to see people set times in the Slophy and 86.

Well that was interesting...

P6 to P2, made an error and back to P6, punted into the first corner by someone and I got a 1.5s penalty, down to P11 and fought back to P8 (and got pushed off in a corner too).

now to try the manu cup race!

Ahh FFS - 20 mins practicing and then disconnected during matching... last time slot for me too.

Much better this time. :) Was put in a much higher lobby than the race before. This showed qualifying 16th with a time the same that got me 9th in the previous race.

Opted for a 1H/7M/6S strategy. Works out pretty well when at the back of getting rid of those Hards. It’s satisfying catching the cars in front quickly knowing they still need to make a pitstop! There was a big moment of lag in the middle of the race where I thought we were about to get disconnected. I was the only car on the track for about a lap before everyone reappeared but luckily went back to normal!

I'm running both events on my Twitch, as usual.

Suzuka in GT cars is something I'm usually quite good at, so my hopes are somewhat higher than usual there. A comfortable top ten would be nice.

As for the Karts? Well, that's another story...

One thing I will say about the 14:00 Nations is that it was probably the most consistent run I've ever had in the shifter kart. Usually it's a nightmare for me to steer the kart with motion controls as it is incredibly twitchy, but sensitivity setting -2 and a steady pair of hands make it a lot more manageable post-update.

Joined @T_revisio for this encounter, which also featured three of the current top 10 drivers along with some familiar faces and the Belgian 'wifi password' player Super GT often talks about. Didn't make a big impression in qualifying, initially setting a 50.204 while being the engine at the front of the slipstream train. Had slight contact with T_revisio after going wide at turn 1, and despite twice shaving five-tenths off the first sector couldn't stick a better lap together. On the very last tour, I held a very wide line going into the final corner, aware that a few karts had already taken the inside. Big mistake. The next thing I know, I'm in the barrier, damaged and carrying a 1.5-second 'Barrier Collision' penalty to the line.

So, down in 19th, then... ahead of one of the top 10 runners who spent most of the session stuck in the pitlane.

Sadly, during what I thought was a long hold-up, T_revisio vanished from the grid, automatically promoting me one place up. Got an early slipstream run on a PR1 driver and had a consistent run of mid-49 second laps while gradually moving up the order and taking advantage of others' whoopsies. This came to a crashing halt on Lap 10 when after taking a wide line through Turn 1, I was left fishtailing into the barrier following a punt from a Turkish driver. The penalty that ensued put me back close to where I started, but I eventually had some great scraps with another Brit, the PR1 driver and the 'wifi password' guy. End result was 17th and 94 points.

Smiles all round despite a measly score and another near-1,000 point DR knock. Managed to improve my FP time to a 49.189 since this attempt, so there is a possibility that a second run might turn out better. But we'll have to wait and see...

So angry. Got Punted out by a back marker who wasn't grey'd out & He did it on purpose also as he did it on the S Bends whilst I was battling for the position with the guy in front. In the gravel and seething. Decided to quit as I was stone cold last by the the time I eventually got out of the litter. Now I have to wait till 6pm.

How do these people get Into SR - S & DR - A? Playing on Daddy's account? :banghead:

I might as well have been disconnected for all the good I did. I even managed to do worse than Famine's pre-race prediction of us fighting over last place.
To be fair, you did come last. I only spent most of the race there.

The Atenza Gr.4 now seems to tuck in a little better, and I seemed to have an advantage in slow corners, but it is still an intolerable, fat, tyre-flaying, barge of stale dog turds. Weirdly a guy finished fourth in it (name I recognise, but can't place) but his fastest lap was pretty wretched and I'm not sure how he did it.

I survived the war of attrition in the karts until I was in the lead group of 5 on the last lap. I ended up on the outside at the last corner so I got hit into the wall, a 1.5 second penalty for barrier collision, and finished 8th. Whatever else I want to type would get me banned and probably a visit from the police, so I'll leave it there.

Well those 14 laps at Suzuka flew by. Was in a slightly higher rated group than I'm usually in I think and was door #20 for my debut in the Mercedes, in with @Hasnain282 and @pantherjag

Had the weirdest problem in qualifying where the picture and sound was out of sync which was just stupidly off putting, did a so-so 2:07.9 for 13th, telly off and back on for the race and we were back in sync (an excuse for a new tv if ever there was one!).

Couldn't make my mind up how I was going to tackle this race in the 60s between sessions and in the end I plumped for a lap on hards at the start, threw on the mediums and it was still up in the air whether I was going to do a long stint or a double stint on softs until after 130R on L2, decided to put the softs on, get the clean air and hope the race would come back to me at the end.

For a long time it looked like it wouldn't!

That's not to say it did, but it almost did! A bit of revenge punting between two Brits (one of which seems to regularly be involved in incidents) promoted me up to where I started the race and with the late stoppers needing to pit I started the final lap in 13th, but was in a train of cars all the way up to 7th and plenty of them on cold, hard(er) tyres. It got a little messy ahead and in the end the only cars I got past were the ones running on fumes. I tried to get a cut back on a BMW out of the final corner but the now out of fuel Ferrari (which had basically been lapping exactly the same speed as me all race) provided a road block and I had to take avoiding action past him before backing out of it to prevent me going wide on the run to the line.

So started 13th and finished 11th, just 2s behind 7th. 162 points which should get wiped off but that's my one attempt for today!

I'm just doing some hotlapping at the moment to get ready for Suzuka, have PD switched off respawns for getting beached?
